TNA Impact! - 10.22.05

Spike TV's Slammin' Saturday brings you TNA Impact! It's only 1 day left until Bound for Glory, and tonight, you will see Samoa Joe in action for the very first time here on Spike TV! We will also find out who Jeff Jarrett's opponent tomorrow will be, in a four-way elimination match between Raven, Jeff Hardy, Monty Brown and Kip James.

The show starts with some hectic camera activity backstage. Workers and staff run around in hushed whispers, as it is rumored that the representative from Spike TV has arrived. Shane Douglas looks especially concerned as he and Larry Zbyszko chats with the ring crew.

Elix Skipper vs Samoa Joe

TNA Impact kicks off with a bang as Prime Time Elix SKipper is set to face Samoa
Joe, just one night away from Bound for Glory! This is the first time they've
met one on one, and Skipper was impressive from the get-go, landing a Dragon
suplex on the big samoan to wield a two-count. Joe rocks back with successive
kicks to the back and front, before wearing down Prime Time with a cloverleaf and
a half Boston. Skipper then ducks a clothesline, and hits one of his own. Skipper
goes high-risk with a cross body, but the mighty Joe catches him and lands him with
a powerslam. Joe puts him back up on the turnbuckle and takes him down with a
Musclebuster for the win. It looks like Joe is primed and ready to take on Rhino
tomorrow night! After the match, Joe helps Skipper back up and shakes his hand.

Samoa Joe pinned Elix Skipper after a Muscle Buster in 0:08:18.

** commercial**

When we come back from the commercial, Larry Zbyszko, Shane Douglas and Traci are making their way down to the announce booh, obviously to face the verdict of the Spike TV representative. Hard rock fills the arena, as Jeremy Borash welcomes... The Spike TV Representative (as if it was a name).. a few second passes, and then, the Spike TV Representative (Spike Dudley) comes out to a loud cheer from the crowd. Spike does not look happy, as he walks around the five announcers/authority persons in circles before talking.

"Spike TV found it appropriate to name ME as their special representative. I can assure you, I will not turn upside down on your show, but I will make changes where I see fit. First of all, we cannot have a hoarse announcer," he says and turns to Don West. He tries to respond, but as earlier today, his voice doesn't amount to more than whispers. Second of all," he says and turns to Traci. "I see a clear conflict of interests, being a valet and an interviewer at once. You must choose which you want to be, but consider your choice, and give me a response by the end of tomorrow. So, Don West, get your ASS out of that chair, NOW!"

The Spike TV Representative has suddenly become quite unpopular with the TNA clan, who despite West's lack in the announcing business makes up for it with devotion. Shane Douglas arrests Spike on his way up the ramp. "Hey, what about me? Are you going to fire me as well, huh? Is that it?"
Spike looks at Shane's hand in disgust, and brushes him away. "No, you're the new color announcer." Shane suddenly brightens up.

We come back from the commercial and see Traci walking the backstage area. Matt Bentley approaches her.
"Traci, there you are. Why do you even need to consider not choosing to manage me?"
"I don't know Matt, I need to think about it. If you win tomorrow, there's nothing to think about."
"Well, you know what to do with Sabin and that bitch of his at Bound for Glory, and I'll take care of Daniels."
"Who do you call bitch?" Gail Kim is suddenly standing behind Bentley, low-blowing him and putting him down with a DDT. Traci spears her down and lays the fisticuffs on her. Sabin runs over and drags Traci away from Gail, but receives a jawbreaker for his efforts. Gail runs after Traci, and the two divas disappear in the hallways.

Bentley and Sabin groan in pain as they slowly make their way back to their feet. "You damned sissy Sabin, a girl knocked you out." Sabin charges Bentley and the two start brawling as Christopher Daniels walks past.

"I don't need to do anything tomorrow, just let them destroy each other and take their spoils. It will be a glorious afternoon"

Rhino vs Sonny Siaki

Joe's opponent tomorrow night, Rhino, also had a match tonight. Joe's fellow
Samoan, Ace in the Hole Sonny Siaki was here to take down Rhino, but the Man-Beast
was focused on his task, and didn't do many errors on his way to winning this
match. Rhino toyed with Siaki, choking him in the corner before landing a big
leg drop. He then left the ring to pick up the announce table trash can as a weapon
against Siaki. The Samoan gets a breather when he manages to roll away from a legdrop,
and takes Rhino down with a big lariat. Siaki gets a momentum going now, rocking
the ring with a superplex as the Man-Beast is sent down to the canvas.
Siaki attempts to use the trashcan for his own purposes, but ref Mark "Slick"
Johnson gets in his way and throws the trashcan out. Rhino uses this distraction
to drill Siaki to the floor with a spike DDT (all DDT's must by default be named
that now, orders from the top!) Rhino follows up with the Gore, but Siaki miraculously
kicks out! Rhino picks up Siaki and piledrives him to the floor, focusing on
Siaki's former neck injury. The Samoan can't get out of this one, but impressed
a lot of the Florida natives by kicking out of the Gore! Best match so far here
on Spike! Tv! Shane Douglas' debut as a color commentator was great, and he really acted heelish, coming into conflict with Tenay on many occasions.

After the match, Rhino picks up Siaki and piledrives him again, before pounding on
him with big left and rights. Samoa Joe is out in no time, sliding into the ring
and tackling Rhino from behind. Rhino pushes him off and decks him with a lariat,
then bouncing into the ropes and going for the Gore. Joe catches Rhino and shoves
him back! Incredibly! Joe is known to do this, but against someone like Rhino?
Joe locks on a guillotine chokehold on Rhino. Rhino quickly taps out, and Joe
releases the hold. He then aids Siaki out of the ring, and stares angrily at Rhino,
who's trying to catch his breath.

Rhino pinned Sonny Siaki after a piledriver in 0:08:58.

In a room backstage, Jeff Jarrett and AMW have gathered quite a crowd (mostly lower-card wrestlers). Jarrett has some sort of document in his hand.

"I stand here before you with living proof that there is a northern invasion coming. This is a flight manifest from a plane coming here tomorrow morning from Stamford, CT. Listen to these names. Matt Morgan.. Mark Jindrak.. Devon Hughes..Mark Lamonica.. Maven Huffman.. James Yang.. Charlie Haas...Pete Gruner..Shannon Moore.. they are all coming here, to take your jobs. The only way you can ensure your positions here at TNA.. is that I, Jeff Jarrett remains World Champion. Thanks for coming, and please take a pamphlet from James or Chris at the way out."

Eric Young vs AJ Styles

Tomorrow, Styles would have the great honor of facing Jushin Liger. Tonight,
Eric Young had the privelige of fighting AJ Styles. Young practically didn't
know what hit him.. still, the young Canadian should get credit for trying. He
scratched the eyes of Styles right off the bat, allowing him to roll AJ up for
a 1-count, but after that, it was all Styles. A spin kick sends Young down, and
a swinging neckbreaker awaits him as he gets up. Styles then sends him to
the mat with the Styles Clash, but decides not to make the pin. Instead, he picks
him up into a powerbomb position, runs across the ring and plants him with a
frickin' LigerBomb, just to get the message across that AJ is not afraid of anyone!

AJ Styles pinned Eric Young after the Liger Bomb in 0:02:53.

Backstage, Cassidy Riley is showing off a book with something in it to some sound technicians, awaiting Raven's exit from his locker room. When Raven comes out, he tries to avoid Riley, but fails. Cassidy runs over to Raven, and shows him a thick, leather-bound tome, a scrapbook of Raven's career!

"Look, here's when you and Mike Awesome won the ECW Tag-team titles.. and here, here's you as WWE Hardcore champion.. here's when you had 20 stitches to your skull after that match with Tommy Dreamer, and here..."

"Riley, what are you doing?"

"I'm going to collect everything there is to collect about you, Raven. I want to become just like you."

"Grow up, Cassidy. Now, I have a top contenders match"

"I am gonna grow up.. and when I grow up, I'm gonna be just like.. Raven!"

Raven vs Jeff Hardy vs Kip James vs Monty Brown

Through winning respective tag-team matches, these four individuals had earned
the right to fight for the coveted position as #1 contender. Of course, Raven
felt that no elimination match should be needed, as he was the previous champion.
In TNA however, you got to earn your right, earn your place in the hierarchy.

However, statistics was not on Raven's side, as he had never beaten Monty Brown before
(well, except for the King of the Mountain Match). And who could forget the amazing
match at Lockdown, where Jeff Hardy defeated Raven. According to Mike Tenay,
Raven had never beat Jeff Hardy in WWE either, so Raven really had history stacked
against him.

In the early goings, James went after Raven, while Brown and Hardy went toe to toe.
This soon turned into a brawl-for-all, when Monty missed a Pounce on Jeff, instead
crashing into Kip James. Hardy went flying at Brown, gaining a 2 count from the body press.
Brown and Hardy brawled out of the ring, while Kip took control of Raven inside,
tilt-a-whirling him down hard. Out on the arena floor, Hardy bounced Brown's
head off the announce table, before draping him across it. Hardy steals Tenay's
chair and leaps off of it, landing a legdrop on Brown and crashing through the
table.

Back in the ring, Kip James block the Raven Effect, and goes outside to help
Brown fend off Hardy. The tandem brings Hardy back to the ring, where Raven
greets all three of them with a series of punches, before clotheslining him self
and James over the ropes. Hardy and Brown gets up on opposite sides of the ring,
eyeing each other. All of a sudden, Brown Pounces across the ring and hits Hardy,
crashing him into the turnbuckle. 1, 2, 3.. Hardy's gone! At the same time,
Raven sends James down with the Raven Effect. Brown makes no attempt to save him
from being pinned, leaving Brown and Raven in the ring.

Raven and Monty feel each other out for a minute, nobody getting a decent move
in as they both are more concerned about not losing, than winning. Brown misses
a clothesline, and runs into a powerslam from Raven. Brown gets up and hits his
opponent with an underhook suplex. Raven kicks out from a power bomb just seconds
away from the 3.. Brown goes for another one, but Raven blocks it and hits the
Raven Effect! 1...2... no.. Brown gets his shoulder up.

Cassidy Riley runs down to the ring, carrying a big, brown, leather-bound book.
Referee Rudy Charles is checking on Monty Brown for the time being, and doesn't
see Riley jump up on the apron and try to hand the book to Raven. At first,
Raven is reluctant, but Riley keeps nagging, and Raven grabs the book. At the
other end of the ring, Monty Brown pushes away the ref and runs at Raven, going for
the Pounce. Raven turns and connects with the book on Brown's forehead, knocking
him straight out. Raven covers, and Rudy Charles crawls over for the 3-count.
Raven is the # 1 contender!

[#1 Contenders Match]: Four Corners Match:
Raven defeated Jeff Hardy, Kip James and Monty Brown:
x M. Brown beat J. Hardy via the Pounce in 0:06:03
x Raven beat K. James via the Raven Effect in 0:06:19
x Raven beat M. Brown via a foreign object in 0:16:01
