TNA Impact! - 10.08.05

rey619Posted on 10/07/05 at 10:10:15

The pyro goes off as a hoarse Don West wishes everyone welcome to the Impactzone. Mike Tenay takes over for the sick color announcer.

"Welcome to TNA Impact! Apologies for my broadcast colleague here, he has a sore throat after a particularly bad flu, but let's go over tonight's card. First of all, we have X-division action featuring the returned Matt Bentley and Petey Williams of Team Canada. We will also see the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett in action, as well as Abyss vs Lance Hoyt. Lastly, Larry Zbyszko of the Championship Committee will announce who, or in what way, the challenger for Jeff Jarrett's NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title will be determined. But first, let's go back to our colleague Traci, who is standing by with Team Canada."

We go to the back, where the luscious Traci is standing in Team Canada's locker room. The testosterone level is high, Bobby Roode is banging the lockers, Petey Williams and A1 is shouting at each other, and Eric Young's eyes are automatically drawn to Traci's prominent cleavage, like a magnet is drawn to a pillar of steel.

"Team Canada, I really must ask you. Where is the road taking you? Without Scott D'Amore, you look lost. You are out of the X-Division title picture, you're out of the Tag-team title picture, and.. I guess you've never been in the Heavyweight Title picture."

Petey Williams takes the mic. "We're not lost, Traci, we have been buried by the biased Championship committee. It's a disgrace that I'm not in the Ultimate X match at Bound for Glory, and tonight, I will prove that I'm better than Matt Bentley, and take his place at Bound for Glory. And then.." Bobby Roode cuts in.

"What you say is true, Traci, we have not been able to prove to the world that we can cope without Coach D'Amore. We should be gunning for all three titles. Petey for the X-Division, Eric & Alistair for the tag-team titles, and myself.. Bobby Roode.. for the NWA World Heavyweight Title." The rest of Team Canada starts to giggle and laugh, well, except for Eric Young, whose eyes are still glued to Traci's.. eyes..

"Oh please," Petey says. "Be realistic, Bobby."

"I am realistic, and tonight, I'll prove my point!"

X-Division action: Matt Bentley w/Traci vs Petey Williams

X-Divison action, as Team Canada's Petey Williams takes on Matt Bentley. Williams was upset at the championship committee for leaving him out of the Ultimate X match at Bound for Glory, and wanted to prove himself the
better man here tonight.

It's been a while since Bentley has been in action, and Williams was able to capitalize on this ring rust in the early goings, landing several blows on Bentley. The returned superstar got his momentum going soon enough, almost knocking Williams' head off with a running forearm. Team Canada and Eric  Young soon got involved, trying to pass the hockey stick to Williams. Ref
Mark Johnson saw it, and threatened with disqualification. Bentley's valet Traci Brooks took matters into her own hands (so to speak), low-blowing the
poor Young on the outside.

Back in the ring, Williams performs a flawless rana on Bentley for a two-count,  and starts building momentum to the Canadian Destroyer, a move that would
definetely put Bentley out. As he is motioning for it, Traci distracts the ref, allowing her guy to low blow Petey. As Petey slowly makes his way up, Matt is stomping away in the corner, awaiting the superkick. A1 and Eric  Young hits the ring, but Bentley backdrops both of them and charges in at Williams, scoring with the superkick for the win.

Matt Bentley pinned Petey Williams with the Superkick in 0:10:12.

Backstage, Shane Douglas is standing by with Larry Zbyszko, head of the Championship committee.

"Well, if it isn't the Living Legend, Larry Zbyszko. Larry, what are the current plans for the NWA World Heavyweight title?"

"Well, in my book, you have to earn a title shot. So that's what's gonna happen this time around. 8 wrestlers will form 4 teams, that will face eacher in 2 tag matches. We will then be left with 4 wrestlers, which will face each other at the very last Impact! before Bound for Glory. The last one in the ring, yes, this will be an elimination match, will be the new #1 contender."

"So, Larry, who will these 8 men be?"

"Tonight, Kip James and Monty Brown will take on two members of the 3 Live Kru, I don't care who. Next week, Jeff Hardy and Raven will square off against Shocker and Abyss."

"No Shane Douglas?"

"No. Sorry."

************************************

A hype video for Bound for Glory, focusing on the AJ Styles vs Jyushin Lyger match is shown, before we move backstage, where Raven is sitting alone in the dark. This time around, he doesn't say much, but he gets up when someone approaches. It's Cassidy Riley, dressed just as Raven.

"Riley, what the heck are you doing?"

"I'm fighting Jarrett tonight, boss. I thought this might put him off guard."

"You're crazy, Riley, and I'm not your boss. Now stop goofing around and get out of here. I want to sulk alone."

Cassidy Riley vs Jeff Jarrett in a Non-title match

Cassidy Riley is the self-proclaimed leader of Raven's fan club, and was to put it mildly, upset with Jeff Jarrett tonight. Jarrett bitched to the crowd before posing in the ring with his guitar. Riley clubbed him from behind to start the match. Riley got the better of Jarrett for a minute or two, taking him down with a facebuster and several clothesline, before Jarrett was able to backdrop him out of the ring to gain a breather.

Riley charged right back at him, but was met with a thumb to the eye and the Stroke for the win.

Jeff Jarrett pinned Cassidy Riley with the Stroke in 0:04:43.

After the match, Jarrett took the mic and said he didn't fear a single one of the 8 men who is gunning for his title. He said that at Bound for Glory, Jarrett and his allies would hold all 3 belts in TNA. The fans were left wondering what he meant by that, as Jarrett smiled and left the ring.

A short clip backstage shows Jarrett and AMW handing out flyers to a lot of the lower midcard wrestlers, warning about the impending "invasion" from the north, and that the only thing able to help them retain their jobs would be allying with Jarrett. David Young quickly agrees to help Jarrett, saying that he's always had a fear of aliens from outer space, from the time he watched that terrible horror movie with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Simon Diamond slaps him in the face and tells him to focus.

Abyss w/Father James Mitchell vs Lance Hoyt

In a rematch from Sacrifice, Abyss proved yet again to be the better big man in TNA. Hoyt hit a chokeslam and the moonsault on Abyss, but aided by Father James Mitchell, the masked monster proved too much for Hoyt today. Abyss ducks a running boot, greets Hoyt with a back elbow, and hoists him up for the torture rack drop and the pin.

Abyss pinned Lance Hoyt after the torture rack drop in 0:04:16.

Abyss is flexing his muscles and celebrating in the ring with his manager, the devious Father James Mitchell, when Team Canada's music plays, and Bobby Roode comes strolling down the aisle. The big Canadian picks up a microphone.

"A little while ago, Jeff Jarrett won the NWA World Heavyweight Title from Raven at the so-called Controversy in Canada. Well, Raven wasn't the only one who lost his Heavyweight Title then. Abyss, you took something from me that night, something I cherished like a mother would cherish her child. You beat me and stole my BCW Heavyweight Title. Well, since a TNA title was defended at a BCW event, why not do the opposite at Bound for Glory? So, unless you by miraculous means qualify for the NWA World Heavyweight Title match, you are hereby challenged by me, the REAL Heavyweight Champion of Border City Wrestling."

As usual, Father James Mitchell acts as Abyss mouthpiece. "Do you have a deathwish, boy? I didn't attend the Canadian event, after all, I have better things to do than visit an inferior country. But after what I've heard, you was beaten, almost to a bloody pulp. Besides, your challenge is moot, as Abyss will be fighting for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. But if... if for some divine reason Abyss won't qualify, you're on. And one more thing, Roode.. bring some extra blood with you!"

Kip James & Monty Brown vs 3 Live Kru

The road to the NWA Heavyweight Title starts here. The winners of this
tag match will go on and face the winners of next shows tag match between
Jeff Hardy & Raven and Abyss & Shocker in a 4 -way elimination match on
the final Impact before Bound for Glory. Original scheduled to be B.G.
and Killings, Konnan took Killings' place as he is recovering from a
mountain bike accident this past weekend. These men have had their differences
in the past, and the match was intense and ferocious throughout.

Kip tried to stay out of B.G.'s way as long as possible, but in the end,
the Alpha Male got sick and tired of his games, and force tagged him before
jumping off the apron. After exchanging rights and lefts, B.G tags himself
out, sending Konnan in against Kip. Konnan was absolutely on fire in this
match, throwing his shoes at Kip before going close. Konnan had Kip in
the Tequila Sunrise, but Monty Brown made the save. Kip and Brown
double teams Konnan, setting up the Fame-Ass-Er. B.G runs in and sends Brown
over the ropes with a clothesline, at the same time shoving Konnan out of
harms way. Kip, who is bouncing off the ropes, hits B.G. instead, sending
him out of the ring. Konnan tries to get up, but Kip rolls him up for the
win. After the match, Konnan asks B.G. where he was, and why he didn't break
the pin. B.G. tries to explain, but Konnan waves him off and leaves the ring.

Kip James and Monty Brown defeated 3 Live Kru (B.G. James and Konnan) when
K. James pinned Konnan after a roll up in 0:16:24.

(Ron Killings no-showed.)

We go to the back, where apparently, Raven is attacking Jarrett and the AMW. The three of them have no problem beating him off, and then we see that it is not Raven, but that fanatic Cassidy Riley. Storm and Harris holds him back as Jarrett punches away at Riley, cutting him open in the process. Raven comes running down the hallway, and Jarrett and AMW make their escape. Raven considers running after them, but after seeing Riley's bloody face, he stops to help him, and at the same time shouts for help.

"Damn you, Riley. Why do you do this? I haven't asked for your help. I haven't asked for you to sacrifice yourself for me. Look what this has brought you? Nothing but pain and anguish. Do you really want to end up like me, bruised and scarred and with a tortured soul?"

Riley opens a bloody eye and whispers "Yes.. yes I do."
Raven shakes his head as he gives room for the paramedics.
