Once again a very solid card that proves that with my roster, despite some very epic matchups, it is nearly impossible to reach *****.  I really need to bring in more strong workers to fill out the uppercard if I hope to reach that level again... although the fact that Ron Harris continues to be involved in very good matches almost every show despite a profoundly mediocre 70 workrate gives me hope that time will eventually build enough heat for my roster to reach the top even despite the fact that there isn't a single 100 WR guy on the roster.

[Perry Saturn interfered against Chance Beckett.]

The first match on our show didn't even really have much of a chance to get started before it had ended.  "Best of the Best" Erik Watts and "Mr. Showtime" Chance Beckett exchanged blows for a few moments, but just two minutes into the match MsChif's other client, Perry Saturn, ran down to the ring and pulled down the top rope, dumping Beckett to the outside.  As the referee called for the bell, Saturn hoisted up Beckett and spiked him back down onto the concrete with the Death Valley Driver, then shouted "London!  This is your fate tonight!"

Rating: ** 1/2

This was quite an exciting bout between the always dangerous Jonny Storm and Aviv Maayan.  Maayan has something of a reputation for his losing streak here in Long Island Wrestling, so it was therefore a major surprise when he managed to pick up a countout victory over the perennial Heavyweight Title contender!  Jonny Storm looked to have been stunned a bit after missing a dive to the outside moments earlier, but that was nothing compared with how stunned he looked that Maayan had actually beaten him.  Storm immediately grabbed the timekeeper's chair and charged the ring, but Maayan was off and running, leaving a seething Storm unable to even gain revenge for his defeat here tonight.

[MsChif interfered against Paul London.]

What a contest between Perry Saturn and Paul London, two up and coming warriors with a major feud brewing between them!  Both Perry Saturn and Paul London had a lot of momentum coming into this match, and both men were eager to inflict some pain on their opponent.  Both men even seemed to be beyond pain, surviving several of their opponents best moves to keep the fight alive.  The difference maker in this match, then, proved to be "The Manager of Champions" MsChif, who knocked Paul London off the top rope after almost 15 minutes of combat.  London landed hard, and Saturn immediately scooped him up and used his superior power to drive him back down with one last Power Bomb for the pinfall victory!  Paul London cannot be happy about this defeat.

Rating: *** 3/4

Kid Kash was very impressive in this bout, staying one step ahead of Ron Harris for virtually the entire matchup and hitting some very impressive and devestating looking maneuvers.  Unfortunately for Kash, Ron Harris is freakishly powerful, and when he finally DID catch Kash, a quick Cobra Clutch Slam brought this match to a sudden and stunning end.

(Following his victory over Kid Kash, Ron Harris grabs the microphone and
begins to speak.)

Ron Harris: Double A.  I know that in the past we've ended up on opposite sides
of the squared circle.  But I want you to know something.  I haven't forgotten
what Frank Shamrock and his goons have done to my brother and I.  And even if
neither of us are in line for another title shot at the moment, and despite
the fact that you chose someone else to team with you tonight in your attempt
to earn the New York State Tag Team Titles, I want you to know something.  If
Shamrock is ever giving you trouble... if The Usurpers are getting out of
control...  You can always count on good old Violent R and Heavy D to help you
out.  Just say the word and we'll be there, kicking ass and taking names.
Don't forget that no matter what Shamrock's mooks try to pull, you are not
alone in standing against them!

(Fade out)

[Lady Victoria interfered against Cactus Jack.]

What an incredible battle!  It turned out that New York State Heavyweight Champion Arn Anderson's pick for a partner was none other than Cactus Jack, one of the most formidable men in the history of the sport.  Cactus and Anderson don't have the same experience tagging together that their partners do, however, and The Usurpers were able to take advantage of this fact to do what they do so devestatingly well: combine power and speed in a difficult to beat combination.  In the end, a concerted attempt managed to isolate Cactus Jack from Arn Anderson, and it was only a matter of time until he fell.  To his credit, Cactus survived the brutal 500 pound Ground Zero Splash, but moments later a neckbreaker across Sabin's knee finished him off and allowed The Usurpers to retain the tag team gold once again.

("War Pigs" by Black Sabbath hits, and "Heavy D" Don Harris makes his way to
the ring.)

Don Harris: I came out here for two reasons.  Number one, I stand behind the
words of my twin brother.  Anyone who has a problem with Anderson... has a
problem with him.  And anyone with a problem with him has a problem with me.
I don't care if it's The Usurpers, Orton's Entourage, The International Thug
Syndicate, or Mary Lou the popcorn vendor.  *CENSORED* with us and you'll be on
the receiving end of the H-Bomb!

(The crowd pops for that.)

Don Harris: As for number two... I've been told that Wataru Sakata has finally
returned from injury, and is still without a partner.  So Sakata...  Welcome
back.  I'm sure you're eager to get back into action, so I suggest you come on
down here, because I'd be honored to be your first opponent back after your
injury.

("Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmerelda hits, and Wataru Sakata
strides toward the ring.  The bell rings, and we have ourselves an impromptu
match.)

Rating: ***

Wataru Sakata put up a hell of a fight in this match, but ultimately, after not competing for the past six months, it became clear that even though he is physically back at 100%, he is still understandably a bit rusty.  Though Sakata had Harris on the ropes several times after his dangerous martial arts kicks, he didn't get a chance to use his submissions because every time he tried to close, Harris met him with a massive Big Boot.  For Harris, the third time was the charm, and Sakata was knocked cleanly out, allowing him to pick up the pinfall victory.

Because Lance Storm and Xavier actually have very similar styles, this proved to be a very competitive match.  The first few minutes, especially, were quite exciting, with both men looking for their signiture kicks.  Lance Storm's experience gave him the edge as the match wore on, however, frustrating Xavier until he became angry enough to shove down the referee.  As soon as the referee regained his bearings (because, let's face it, a shove to a referee is like a Tombstone Pile Driver to a wrestler), he got in Xavier's face, cursed him out, and threw out the match.  Thus Lance Storm got the victory, but only by disqualification.

Scorpio pinned Edge with the 450 Splash in 0:28:49.
Rating: ** 3/4

The huge eight man tag team match went down as planned, and it was just as crazy as had been expected.  The Syndicate came into this match in need of a win, and a win is exactly what they got.  As much as the crowd hates them, no other faction in Long Island Wrestling has been together for longer.  Both Edge & Vampiro and Frankie Kazarian & Scott Hall are hoping to impress enough to earn a title shot, so their own teamwork paled in comparison to their foes.  In fact, when Scorpio hit Edge with the 450 Splash that ultimately ended the match, Frankie Kazarian could have broken up the pinfall, but did not do so.  Whether he didn't realize he was in position or chose not to save Edge to make Edge & Vampiro look bad is impossible to say.  We can safely say, however, that the International Thug Syndicate looks very strong coming off of this victory.

[Lamont interfered against Mark Jindrak.]

Despite all his boasting, The Cat was majorly outmatched in this fight against The Ironman.  Miller tried all of his "kara-tay" tricks, but Miller used his startling strength and speed to keep the dancin' fool off balance.  When he hit the Mark of Excellence, it should have been over by all rights, but Lamont managed to distract the referee, preventing him from counting the fall.  From there, Lamont grabbed a chair and brained Jindrak, knocking him out cold.  While this may technically have given Jindrak a win by DQ, Miller celebrated it just as if he had defeated Jindrak personally, shouting "The streak is still ALIVE, baby!"  Simply disgusting!

[Lady Victoria interfered against Randy Orton.]

Randy Orton learned a difficult lesson here in this fantastic match: just because he has recruited a pair of two-bit hangers-on doesn't mean that he's suddenly a match for the most dominant faction in Long Island Wrestling today!  In all fairness to Orton's Entourage, they were very impressive in this match, but while Orton was a match for any of his opponents, Stradlin and Reigns seemed to be a step behind, with Reigns in particular looking frustrated as his signiture moves failed to produce results.  Finally, the match broke down into an all-out pier 6 brawl, with Shamrock and Reigns squaring off inside the ring.  Of course, in a situation like this, Shamrock's MMA training proved to be a HUGE difference maker, and he was able to leverage it into a tapout victory with his signiture Ankle Lock Submission, much to the frustration and annoyance of Randy Orton.

Sabin and Chastain fought like.. one hour total tonight.. that must really burn some calories for Chastain. Really impressive wins though.

Perry Saturn sends a message to Paul London through Chance Beckett, and he delivers. This should be a violent feud.

I don't think you should hit yourself over the fact that you don't get too many 5 star matches.. it's a better accomplishment to achieve 3 and 4 star matches with the Harris Twins than to get a 5 star match with.. say James Gibson and Bryan Danielson.

With regards to the ***** matches, I'm just sort of grumbly that when I brought in some stars for Japan for one card, two of their matches managed to get five stars despite never having appeared in LIW before.  DAMN YOU KOBASHI, MISAWA AND OGAWA!  DAMN YOU TO HEEEELLLLLLL! ;D

...

But not until after I see Kobashi in ROH this weekend.
