Welcome to the second edition of GLWF Action TV!  We're once again coming to you from our facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and we have a packed house tonight as we hold the first round matches in side B of the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament!  Last week  Jimmy Jacobs, Austin Aries, Garrison Cade & Samoa Joe all advanced to the quarterfinal round which will begin next week!  Now without further ado, let's get this hour started with our first match.  Here's GLWF ring announcer Clara Michaels...

Clara Michaels: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Great Lakes Wrestling Federation!  Our first match is a first round match in the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first, from Detroit, Michigan, weighing in at 199lbs... "The Next" Alex Shelley!  *Crowd boos*  And his opponent...

Alex Shelley: *Grabbing the mic away from Clara* Whoa, whoa, whoa there Ms. Michaels.  Before you bring out that freak show I'm supposed to be facing tonight let me tell all of you Kalama-losers something.  *boos*  You see, there's a reason why they call me "The Next."  It's not because I'm the next guy to get a phone call from some big federation like GCW saying "We need you to bail us out.  We need you so people will come and buy tickets to our shows."  It's not because I'm the next guy who's gonna have his own crappy reality show where I put 5 Alex Shelley wanna bes like those fat kids in the first row on an island and beat the crap out of them.  It's because I'm the next big thing.  I'm bigger than Shocker.  I'm bigger than Samoa Joe, I'm bigger than the GLWF... hell... I'm bigger than the GCW!  I'm the biggest thing in pro wrestling today.  Not just in America... but i'm the biggest thing... in the world. *gives an arrogant chuckle and hands the mic back to Clara Michaels, instructing her to bring out his opponent.*

Clara Michaels: And his opponent, hailing from Los Angeles, California, weighing in at 196lbs... "1000% Guapo" Shocker!!  *Shocker comes out and does his patented pose.  He slaps a few hands on his way down to the ring as well*

Shocker's getting into the ring... and Shelley attacks him before the bell.  Clara Michaels hurrays to get out of the ring as Shelley means business.  Shelley is laying into Shocker with stomps and finishes his barrage with a choke that almost gets him DQed, but he releases it just in time... but then applies another!  Shelley picks Shocker up... and nails the It Came from Japan!  He's motioning that he's not done yet though and mounts Shocker.  Shelley shouts at him to fight back and begins punching Shocker.  Shelley gets up and throws Shocker into the ropes.  Shelley goes for a dropkick, but Shocker holds onto the ropes and Shelley hits nothing but air!  Shelley is quick to get up, but Shocker grabs him and tries to latch on the Reinera!  Shelley manages to counter the attempt with a headlock takedown which leads into another choke by Shelley.  The gives him three four counts to let go.  Shelley finally complies at three of the last one.  Shocker is gasping for breath and hurt thanks to Shelley tactics.  Shelley picks Shocker up and it going for a neckbreaker... but Shocker counters with a backward kick to the groin which the ref lets slide!  Not a move normally in Shocker's arsinal, but when in Rome I suppose.  Shocker is hurt, but realizes that he needs to mount some offense and hits Shelley with a powerslam for 2.  Shelley gets up and Shocker runs into the ropes.  Elbow by Shelley.  He's going for a tornado DDT from a standing position... he swings around... but Shocker lands Shelley on his feet and quickly hits a northern lights suplex for another 2 count!  Things continued like this.  Shelley's cheating ways would get him on top, and then Shocker would pull it out when it counted at hit a couple big moves.  Shocker favored his throat and neck during the match and would reach for it whenever he had a breather.  Shocker got the Reinera on Shelley again toward the end of the match and it looked like Shelley might tap since he was in the middle of the ring and that's a hard position to grab the ropes from anyway, but he managed to chop Shocker's throat, which quickly put an end to his hold on Shelley.  It looked like Shocker's throat might need medical attention and Shelley took advantage of it by hitting an inverted DDT and pinning Shocker with his forearm across his throat, hiding that fact from the ref very well.

[Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Tourney - Round 1]:
Alex Shelley pinned Shocker after an inverted DDT in 0:07:48.
Rating: **** 1/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a first round match in the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first, from the Bowery... weighing in at 225lbs... Raven!  And his opponent... from Calgary, Alberta, Canada... weighing in at 251lbs... "Bulldog" Harry Smith!

The bell sounds and it looks like Smith is very eager to start his first GLWF Match.  Raven... not so much.  He's just leaning against the corner.  Finally he begins coaxing Smith to come to him.  Smith looks to the crowd, asking if they want him to go to him.  The fans cheer as they want to see some action.  Smith charges at Raven like a bolt of lighting.  Not something to want to do to a veteran of the sport that can see you coming.  Raven lifts a leg at the last second and nails Smith hard in the face with his boot.  Smith goes down to one knee and Raven gives him a knee to the face, knocking him the rest of the way down.  Raven locks in a sleeperhold, but Smith is able to reach the rope quickly.  Raven picks him up and whips him into the far corner.  He charges in but is met with Smith's boot!  Smith quickly follows it with a Gorilla Press slam and Raven scuttles to the outside in pain after landing!  Smith is all riled up after that.  Raven is still on the outside as the crowd starts a "Get back in" chant.  Raven slowly does, but tells the ref to get Smith away from the ropes.  Smith complies and Raven gets back in and to a standing position.  They lock up and Raven hits a knee to the midsection for control of the match.  He begins brawling with Smith, Smith manages to fight back though and eventually hits a ginormous powerslam for 2.9.  He keeps on Raven, trying to work him down.  He hits a huge superplex that looks like it could have ended things, but didn't go for the pin, which is unfortunate since shortly after Raven low bridged him, sending him tumbling to the outside.  Raven followed him out and took control, slamming him into the ring, the wall, whatever he could find.  Raven threw Smith back in at 8 and Smith was begining to bleed a little.  Raven nailed a jawbreaker for 2.  From then on Smith looked to be in big trouble.  Raven sent him between the turnbuckles into the corner post twice and Smith's trickle got slightly bigger after just about every well placed punch to the forehead by Raven.  Raven signaled for the end and grabbed Smith for the Raven Effect.  Smith pushed him off though!  Raven bounces off the ropes and Smith hits a huge gorilla press slam!  He's going for the pin! 1...2...3!  Raven kicked out but only a fraction of a second too late!

[Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Tourney - Round 1]:
Harry Smith pinned Raven after a Gorilla Press in 0:10:35.
Rating: *** 3/4

Raven begins arguing with the ref as Smith looks to be a little out of it after the beating he recieved from Raven.  Raven pushes the ref down and leaves the ring.  He grabs a chair and comes back in!  He folds the chair out and grabs Smith... Raven Effect to the folded out chair!  Smith is going on to the quarterfinals next week, but what condition will he be in after that?

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a first round match in the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first, from Atlanta, Georgia... weighing in at 224lbs... "The Cat" Ernest Miller!  *Miller dances all the way down the aisle.  He gets in the ring and dances some more to his James Brown theme music.  After a solid minute of 'smooth moves' from the cat, it's time for his opponent to be brought out*  and his opponent... Guildford, Surrey, England... weighing in at 280lbs... Paul Birchall!  *The fans cheer a little as Birchall makes his entrance.  He slaps a few hands, but remains quiet and focused*

Ernest had a look on his face like he didn't know what the hell he had signed up for.  Birchall is... well... damned impressive looking.  Miller thinks he's gonna be slick by walking up to him like he's not gonna do anything and hit a quick thrust kick.  He does it all right, but Birchall doesn't move... not an inch.  He head tilts back a little and that's it.  Miller ended the kick by facing away.  He does a little dance and tells the fans how smart he is.  Then he turns around... and is simply stunned that Birchall is still standing.  Miller tries again, but Birchall grabs his foot, then the whole Ernest, lifts him up like a rag doll and hits a standing powerslam.  He follows it with two insanely impressive-for-his-size standing moonsaults, the second of which gets him a close 2.  This match could be described in three words: Birchall, Birchall, Birchall.  Miller occasionally tried to mount some offense, but it appears that nothing could be done to hurt or bring Birchall down.  Miller tried begging a lot... that didn't work either.  A low blow was as close as Miller really got to offense.  He followed it right after with the Feliner, which actually took Birchall of his feet (mostly since he was still feeling the effects of the little Birchalls getting hits) and Miller pinned and got... a 1.  Birchall kicks after one.  He didn't just kick out, he thrust Miller up a little and off him.  You could see in his eyes that Birchall was done with this match.  He grabs Miller, who at the moment was trying to get the hell out of the ring, and hit an almost ring shaking pumphandle slam for a three... though you could have probably counted to 10 at that point.

[Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Tourney - Round 1]:
Paul Birchall pinned Ernest Miller after a pumphandle slam in 0:09:59.
Rating: ***

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a first round match in the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first, from Aberdeen, Washington... weighing in at 185lbs... "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  ANd his opponent, fighting out of San Antonio, Texas.. weighing in at 201lbs... Michael Shane!

The match started out with Shane giving Danielson a free headlock.  AmDrag was hesitant, but apparently has never watched wrestling before (or at least didn't learn anything) because he accepted the offer... and was promptly thrust into the ropes.  Shane hit a kick to the gut, followed it with a snapmare, and then a scissor kick.  He pointed to his head and told the fans he was the smartet man in the world.  Danielson wasn't done though and when Shane went back to him, Danielson hits a couple elbows to Shane's midsection, followed by a single arm DDT, then he rolled him over and hit a neck snap.  Danielson worked the crowd a little bit.  The two traded back and forth some nice spots and showed that they are both talented guys.  Just when you thought one had to be done, they'd get back up and dish out a few devistaters of their own.  About midway through the match the tables really turned, giving Danielson a big advantage.  Shane had hit a monkey flip from the corner and went up top at an adjecent corner for the Picture Perfect Elbow.  Danielson managed to roll out of the way though and got to his feet before Shane could.  Danielson delt from punishment to Shane and the fans ate it up.  He rocked Shane with a running forearm smash for 2.9 and then locked in the Cattle Mutilation.  Shane was writhing in pain, but couldn't get to the ropes or breka the hold.  Eventually it appeared the fight was draining out of Shane.  The fans loved it.  Then it looked like Shane was out.  Out cold.  Shane wasn't moving and wasn't responding to the ref.  The ref started dropping Shane's arm.  Once it fell.   The cheers grew louder.  Twice it fell, the fans were off their seats, anticipating that this had to be the end.  The ref lifted the arm a third time.  The audience held the breathe... it began to fall... BUT NO!  Shane lifted it back up before it hit the mat!  Almost in unison you could hear each and every fan let out an "OHHH!"  Shane was back in it!  Danielson whipped him into the ropes but was met with a lariat.  Then a sitdown faceslam!   He whipped AmDrag into the ropes again, Danielson made a last ditch effort and went for a clothesline.  Shane ducks... german suplex!  Both of their shoudlers are on the mat... 1... 2... Shane lifts his... 3!

[Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Tourney - Round 1]:
Michael Shane pinned Bryan Danielson after a German suplex in 0:14:26.
Rating: **** 1/4

BOOOO for Michael Shane...No way he beats a future wrestling god in Danielson.  Tha Aries/Joe tournament match should be sweet. I would root for either one of them to win the tournament.
