The show kicked off with highlights from last week's opener between Adam Pearce and Claudio Castagnoli, that went to a double countout.  Paul Heyman came out, and said that since that was a Young Guns Tournament match, he wanted a clear cut winner, and said the two would go at it again in the opener, this time no countout.  He then announced that Aaron Stevens and Frankie Kazarian would take on the The Briscoe Brothers for the vacant World Tag Team Titles.

Young Guns Tournament Match -Winner's Bracket
Adam Pearce pinned Claudio Castagnoli with the Jumping Piledriver in 0:16:55.
Rating: *** 1/4

Excellent  and showing from both men once again, and a great way to start the show.  Pearce is more of the veteran of the two, and it eventually showed down the stretch, as he sends Claudio to the loser's bracket next week.  Claudio was visibly frustrated by the loss, and promised he would see Pearce again.  Pearce moves on to face Nick Dinsmore in the winner's bracket, while Claudio faces Delirious next week in loser's bracket action.

Young Guns Tournament Match -Winner's Bracket
Qeenan Creed defeated Salvatore Rinauro by disqualification in 0:05:32.
Rating: ** 1/4

Solid match ,but nothing special here, as Creed advances on to face the winner of the next match.

Young Guns Tournament Match -Winner's Bracket
Jay Lethal pinned Kevin Steen with the Clutch Pumphandle Bomb in 0:16:31.
Rating: *** 1/2

Steen's power kept him in the match, but Lethal was just too impressive, and too dominant.  Lethal now advances on to face Qeenan Creed in the winner's bracket semi's, while Steen will face Sal Rinauro next week, in the loser's bracket.

Backstage,  Aaron Stevens  and Beth Phoenix are trying get Frankie Kazarian hyped up for their Tag Team Title match against The Briscoe's, when Prince Nana and Jimmy Rave walk by, and sarcastically wished them good luck, and said they would be at ringside to cheer them on.  Kazarian looked pissed, but Stevens slapped him, and told him to get focused.

Highlights are then shown from a couple months back, when Stevens and Kazarian won the Tag Titles, but were immediately forced to vacate them thanks to Stevens' injured leg.

No-Countout-Match for the vacant HIW World Tag Team Titles:
The Briscoe Bros. (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
Frankie Kazarian and Aaron Stevens when M. Briscoe pinned Kazarian with the
Cutthroat Suplex in 0:20:17.
Rating: *** 1/4
(The Briscoe Bros. won the HIW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Beth Phoenix interfered against Mark Briscoe.]

Awesome title match, as both teams were on fire, especially Kazarian, who finally looked focused, until Nana and Rave made their way down to do commentary.  Kazarian kept having words with The Embassy duo throughout the match, which kept him distracted, and ultimately led to him being pinned, giving The Briscoe's their first HIW World Tag Team Titles!!  Aaron Stevens was pissed, and shoved Kazarian.  Kazarian promised him he would finish this thing next week with Jimmy Rave in a Hardcore, anything goes, match! And then they will take another shot at the Title's.  Stevens accepted, but was still visibly pissed.

We cut to highlights from last week, where The Rottweillers tied Jimmy Jacobs up in the ropes, and brutalized him last, giving him a concussion, and keeping him out of action this week.

No-Countout-Match:
Steve Mack pinned BJ Whitmer with the Clothesline From Compton in 0:11:53.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Homicide interfered against BJ Whitmer.]

Whitmer was looking for revenge on Homicide for injuring his partner last week, and came out hitting hard with the big man, but Homicide took advantage of Jacobs absence, and interfered, jabbing Whitmer with a fork, and costing him the match. Afterwards, the two took turns beating down Whitmer, until Mack went to the outside, and setup a table on the floor!!  Homicide took Whitmer up top, and was about to plant him through a table, to the floor, with an Ace Crusher, when Low Ki rushed down, and kicked the bejesus out of Mack and Homicide.  The Rottweillers, finally managed to bail out.  An angry Homicide yelled at Low Ki, that he should have kept his nose out of Rottweiller business, told him to watch his back, because things are going to get more violent than the first time around between the two.

No-Countout-Match:
Xavier pinned Jerry Lynn with the Kiss Your X Goodbye in 0:12:56.
Rating: *** 1/2

Probably the best match Xavier has pulled out in a while, and it's a big win, over a top notch talent in Lynn, who has struggled since losing his World Title bid against Aries.  Xavier got on the mic, and said that once again, he had the All Around Best Match on the card, because, obviously, he is the All Around Best in the HIW, no matter what Austin Aries will have you believe.  Aries comes down to a nice reaction, and tells Xavier, he can put his money where his mouth is, because he is giving him a title shot! It won't be tonight, because he is already set to defend the title, and it won't be next week, as he will be in Mexico, but in two weeks, Xavier will have his title shot, then we will see who is the "All Around Best."

No-Countout-Match:
Super Dragon pinned Tony Mamaluke with the Psycho Driver 2000 in 0:08:15.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Super Dragon retained the HIW Television Title.)

Super Dragon is putting together a nice reign as TV Champ, as he notches up another win tonight, against no easy customer, in Tony Mamaluke, though he has been less than impressive since joining HIW.  And like Jerry Lynn, Mamaluke he has really struggled ever since losing his bid at Austin Aries and hte World Title.  He needs to get back on the winning track soon, or risk losing his job.

Young Guns Tag Team Tournament Match
The Aerial Express (Quicksilver and Scorpio Sky) defeated
Blackout (Rainman and Murder One) when Scorpio Sky pinned Rainman with the
Final Answer in 0:27:04.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Jeff G. Bailey interfered against Scorpio Sky.]

This was the first match for both teams in the Young Guns Tag Team Round Robin tournament, and was a stellar match.  Aerial Express is a popular and talented team from the west coast, and bring that high flying action here to HIW, and looked impressive, though Blackout would not go down easily.  Next week, Blackout faces X-Foundation in the tournament, and both teams need a win, or risk losing a shot at a contract.

Backstage, James Gibson was interviewed about the 25 minute Ironman Match coming up against Low Ki.  He said the Ironman match is a true test for a wrestler.  He said, Low Ki has been his toughest challenge to date, and he respects him greatly, but believes he is the better man, and has what it takes to carry HIW, and he promises to come out on top tonight!!

No-Countout-Iron Man Match:
Low-Ki beat James Gibson 3 falls to 0:
x Low-Ki beat J. Gibson via the Ki Crusher in 0:12:56
x Low-Ki beat J. Gibson via the Ki Crusher in 0:15:17
x Low-Ki beat J. Gibson via the Ki Crusher in 0:18:41
x time limit expired (Low-Ki and J. Gibson) in 0:25:00
Rating: ** 3/4

Gibson showed what he is made of, but Low Ki has just been on a major hot streak, and takes the match in 3 straight falls.  It wasn't long after the bell, when The Rottweillers came dashing to ringside.  Homicide had a chain, and leveled Ki with it, while Mack laid out Gibson with the Clothesline From Compton.  Homicide tried to choke out Ki with the chain, but BJ Whitmer rushed down with a chair, and cleared the ring.

No-Countout-Match:
Austin Aries pinned Kid Kash with the 450 Splash in 0:13:50.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Austin Aries retained the HIW World Heavyweight Title.)

Austin Aries just flat out out wrestled the high flying Kid Kash.  Kash came in, having debuted just a few short weeks ago, thinking he was the best thing going in HIW, and was quickly shot down by Aries, as Aries contiues to show why he is called The Wrestling Machine!

Matches already signed for next week

Hardcore Match
Jimmy Rave vs Frankie Kazarian
Low Ki/BJ Whitmer vs Homicide/Steve Mack
Plus more from the Young Guns Tournament

Really a quick and nice read. Sometimes, paraphrasing the interviews and promos can be just as effective as writing the interviews themselves. As I mentioned, I like most of your guys and will be paying attention to this one (especially since you're using my PWG exports  ;D).

Probably just a small slip, but why was Rinauro disqualified?
teddy1221Posted on 09/03/05 at 16:33:24

You know, I honestly don't remember why he got dq'ed, because I didn't make a note of it, and I ran the card a week or so ago.  But what makes that worse is, that I thought I had DQ's turned off.  I am gonna have to check on that, because I thought I turned DQ's off for the fed in the Tweakcircse.  Thanks for reading.

Not too much specific to say right now, but overall, this was a fun read.  I'll definitely be following this one, and as more cards get posted, I will give more detailed feedback.  But yes, this was quality.
