WCW: Post March 26 2001

MattHarmsPosted on 08/04/05 at 18:08:18

March 26 2001. The final Monday Nitro. Vince McMahon purchased WCW in real life but what if Eric Bischoff purchased WCW as planned.

WCW went dark for over a month. No one knew what would happen. Eric Bischoff had posted one announcement for all to see on WCW.com. All the title belts were vacant, as we are going to start anew. Some wrestlers would be returning, some would not. All would be revealed at the Big Bang Theory.

World Championship Wrestling Presents: The Big Bang Theory-May 8th 2001

Fireworks, pryo. Your announcers our Tony Shiavone and Jerry Lawler(who was signed with WCW after retiring to the WWE). Lawler buries his old employers because "they made him act like an immature thirteen year old who has saw his first breast" and fired him for standing up for what he believed in.

Eric Bischoff is out with a big Samoan looking gentlemen. Bischoff has the belts and welcomes us to the NEW WCW. Everyone will have to earn their spots as tonight their will be a six pack challenge match to declare a brand new WCW World Champion. Bischoff says by luck of random draw, Diamond Dallas Page will face Buff Bagwell, Rey Misterio Jr takes on Ric Flair, Lance Storm faces Hugh Morrus, and Jeff Jarrett takes on Scott Steiner. Also a new wrestler will debut as part of the World Title Match and Booker T will get a bye into the match as a result of being the WCW World Champion when the belt was vacated. Bischoff introduces us to his bodyguard, who is named Samoa Joe. Bischoff says Joe will be in action tonight. Also the United States Title, Tag Team Titles, and Cruiserweight Title will be decided.

Four Corners Match for the vacant WCW Cruiserweight Title:
Chavo Guerrero defeated Shane Helms, Billy Kidman and Christopher Daniels:
x Chavo beat Kidman via a cross-body block in 0:16:03
x C. Daniels beat Helms via disqualification in 0:24:30
x Chavo beat C. Daniels via the Brain Buster in 0:30:04
Rating: ****
(Chavo Guerrero won the WCW Cruiserweight Title.)
-Christopher Daniels was one of the new wrestlers brought into World Championship Wrestling on this night. He lasted until the last few minutes of this four corners match but Chavo impressed during this match, beating Daniels with a match winning Brain Buster to become WCW Cruiserweight Champion.

Ric Flair is talking to Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, and Buff Bagwell. Apperantly the Magnificent Seven are now down to the Maginificent Four and Flair disbands the group.

Samoa Joe pinned Shark Boy with the Island Driver in 0:15:21.
Rating: *** 3/4
-Joe toyed with Shark Boy during this match and put him through the ringer in this pretty good match. Joe won with the Island Driver(or as Tony called it: "Sidewalk Slam"). Joe choked out Sharky after the match but Shark Boy's partner, La Parka made the save and got beat down himself. Joe is a bad ass and won't take anything from anyone.

[Winner Qualifies for the Title Match]:
Diamond Dallas Page pinned Buff Bagwell with the Diamond Cutter in 0:20:33.
Rating: * 1/2
-Your might as well call Buff jobber as this was a very long and extended squash for DDP. DDP banged Buff to win the match and advance towards the title match. As a consolation price, Mr. Bagwell advances into the United States Title Match later on tonight.

Rey Misterio Jr is backstage. He has the mask back on for all you keeping score. Even through he is facing Ric Flair, he is going to give it his all and never say die. He vows to become the smallest World Champion in history.

[Winner Qualifys for Title Match]:
Ric Flair defeated Rey Misterio Jr. when Rey Misterio Jr. passed out in the
Figure-Four Leglock in 0:17:00.
Rating: *** 3/4
-Twas not to be, sadly. Rey fought off Flair, dazzling the dirtiest player in the Game with a bunch of ranas but the Figure Four Leglock made Rey pass out from the pain. Flair gives Rey a parting kick in the head as he leaves, advancing forward in the tournament.

[Winner Qualifys for Title Match]:
Hugh Morrus pinned Lance Storm with the No Joke in 0:14:47.
Rating: * 3/4
-These two have had their wars in WCW in the past and this match was no different. Hugh Morrus caught Lance Storm off guard with his No Joke neckbreaker. After the match, Storm took out Morrus with a Superkick.

Scott Steiner is out and Jeff Jarrett attempts to pay him off so Jarrett can win the title. Steiner responds by beating Jeff Jarrett up.

[Winner Qualifys for Title Match]:
Scott Steiner made Jeff Jarrett submit to the Steiner Recliner in 0:07:49.
Rating: ****
-Jarrett pinballed for Poppa Pump and a series of suplexes caused Jeff Jarrett to be dazed and confused and the match ending Steiner Recliner guaranteed Scott Steiner a spot in the title match.

Four Corners Match for the vacant WCW Tag Team Titles:
Disqo and Alex Wright defeated The Mamalukes (Johnny The Bull and Big Vito),
Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire and Air Raid (Air Paris and AJ Styles):
x Styles beat C. Palumbo after the Shooting Styles Press in 0:08:53
x Disqo beat Styles via the Last Dance in 0:30:24
x Disqo beat Vito via the Last Dance in 0:37:04
Rating: **
(Disqo and Alex Wright won the WCW Tag Team Titles.)
-Upset of upsets. The least likely tag team wins the WCW Tag Team Titles. After Sean O' Haire and Chuck Palumbo were eliminated, it appeared to be only a matter of time for the Boogie Nights captured the WCW Tag Team Titles. Alex Wright tossed powder in Vito's eyes and Disqo finished him off with the Chartbuster.

We see a promo that states, June 17th will be the Great American Bash and on June 18th, WCW Nitro returns, this time on the USA Network.

Four Corners Match for the vacant WCW United States Title:
Jeff Jarrett defeated Buff Bagwell, Rey Misterio Jr. and Lance Storm:
x L. Storm beat Bagwell via disqualification in 0:10:25
x L. Storm beat Misterio Jr. via the Superkick in 0:19:01
x J. Jarrett beat L. Storm via outside interference in 0:26:22
Rating: ** 3/4
(Jeff Jarrett won the WCW United States Title.)
-Lance Storm would have captured the title had it not been for the interference of  Hugh Morrus. Morrus cost Storm the title and the title wound up in the hands of Jeff Jarrett.

The Boogie Nights celebrate their tag team title win with some champange but the Mamalukes jump them in the back and clonk them with the champange bottles and stand over them holding up the belts.

6-Man Battle Royal for the vacant WCW World Title:
Scott Steiner won a 6-man Royal Rumble:
x DDP and Booker started out.
x DDP defeated Booker in 0:00:30
x Hugh Morrus entered at 0:05:00
x Morrus defeated DDP after a powerslam in 0:05:12
x Rob Van Dam entered at 0:10:00
x RVD defeated Morrus after a flying cross body press in 0:14:22
x Ric Flair entered at 0:15:00
x RVD defeated R. Flair after the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:19:29
x Scott Steiner entered at 0:20:00
x S. Steiner defeated RVD after the Steiner Recliner in 0:26:58
Rating: ***
(Scott Steiner won the WCW World Title.)
-The mystery opponent was Rob Van Dam and he entered midway through, shocking the world by scoring a win over Ric Flair but Scott Steiner rolled out of the way of the Five Star Frog Splash and put Rob Van Dam in the Steiner Recliner for the submission.

Scott Steiner celebrates with his newly won WCW World Title but the crowd is excited as "Invasion" plays and we see Goldberg standing in the rampway. We are out of time, we will see you at the Great American Bash on June 17th.
MattHarmsPosted on 08/04/05 at 21:26:25

Eric Bischoff has announced that the following matches will take place at the Great American Bash.

Scott Steiner defends his WCW World Title against Booker T.

The Boogie Nights faces off against the Mamalukes with the WCW Tag Team Titles on the line.

Ric Flair takes on Rob Van Dam

Lance Storm will face off against Hugh Morrus.

Rey Misterio Jr and Kanyon do battle with the winner getting a United States Title Shot on the first USA network show.

Crowbar faces off against Samoa Joe.

Chavo Guerrero defends his Cruiserweight Title against Shane Helms

Plus Eric Bischoff states that if Goldberg wants his job back, he must win a handicap match against both of the Harris Brothers.
Psymin1Posted on 08/08/05 at 00:37:14

One word: Excellent!  This is a great idea and I think you will be able to pull it off best.  I really like the circuit and I cannot wait until the Great American Bash, as it should be a great event.  Now, for Predictions:

Scott Steiner Retains his Title.

The Boogie Nights upset the world again and retain their belts also.

Rob Van Dam gets the best of the Nature Boy.

Hugh Morris hopefully gets his ass kicked by Lance Storm.

Rey Misterio Jr gets the US Title Shot.

The bad ass Samoa Joe beats the hell out of Crowbar.

I would love to see Chavo retain not so much because I like him, but more so because I don't like Shane Helms.  But, I have a feeling that Shane Helms is going to win the Cruiserweight Belt.

Goldberg because I really want to see him stay in the WcW.

World Championship Wrestling Presents: The Great American Bash 2001- June 17th 2001:

We are live from Baltimore. Your announcers are Tony Shiavone, Mike Tenay, and Jerry Lawler. They run down the lineup for tonight. Eric Bischoff has stated that tommorow night on Nitro, he will have a major announcement regarding the status of an old WCW title being brought back but that is Nitro and this is the Great American Bash.

Air Raid (Air Paris and AJ Styles) defeated Kid Romeo and Elix Skipper when
Styles pinned Romeo after the Spiral Tap in 0:05:39.
Rating: ** 1/4
-Four of the stars of the future of wrestling fought off in this tag team match. Styles delivered the Spiral Tap to score the pin on Kid Romeo. Romeo and Prime Time had words after the match.

Crowbar and Daffney are backstage. Crowbar gives a crazy promo while Daffney laughs in the background. Bad things are going to happen to Samoa Joe tonight and there is nothing that Samoa Joe can do about it.

Samoa Joe pinned Crowbar with the Island Driver in 0:09:30.
Rating: **** 1/4
-Twas not to be. Joe brutalized Crowbar with extreme prejudice. Shiavone says that he hasn't been impressed with a new comer since Goldberg. Joe wins with the Island Driver and Chokes out Crowbar after the match just to be a bastard.

The Boogie Nights are backstage. Disqo has a legend of WCW with him...The Disqo Duck. Disqo says that this legend will guide them to victory against The Mamalukes later tonight.

Chavo Guerrero pinned Shane Helms with the Brain Buster in 0:11:20.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Chavo Guerrero retained the WCW Cruiserweight Title.)
-Chavo outsmarted Shane Helms countering the Vertebreaker(which will break your spine) with a low blow and delivering the Brain Buster to score the pin. Chavo kicks Shane Helms in the face several more times after the match just to show who the heel in this match is.

Eric Bischoff has a meeting with the Harris Twins. Bischoff says that he cleared out most of the backstage headaches like Hogan and Luger but Goldberg still remains. If they allow Goldberg to be reinstated, they will suffer the displeasure of Easy E. We see Samoa Joe nodding in the background.

[If Goldberg wins, he is reinstated]: Handicap-Match:
Goldberg defeated The Harris Brothers (Don Harris and Ron Harris) when Goldberg
pinned Big Ron with the Jackhammer in 0:00:58.
Rating: 3/4*
-Goldberg is back on form, running over both the Harris Brothers like a freight train. Goldberg is back in WCW and Eric Bischoff cannot be too pleased.

[Winner will face the US Champion on Nitro]:
Kanyon pinned Rey Misterio Jr. after a fireman's carry into a flapjack in
0:08:30. Rey Misterio Jr. suffered an elbow injury. He will be out fo
r approximately 1 card.
Rating: ***
-United States Champion Jeff Jarrett commentated during this match and remarked that he could beat both these guys blindfolded. Kanyon countered a crucifix into a fireman's carry into a flapjack. Rey appeared to damage his arm on the impact and Kanyon scored the pin. Kanyon looked down at Jarrett and pointed at the belt while making the "I want da belt" motion around his waist.

The Mamalukes (Johnny The Bull and Big Vito) defeated Disqo and Alex Wright
when Bull defeated Disqo by disqualification in 0:13:37.
Rating: **
(Disqo and Alex Wright retained the WCW Tag Team Titles.)
-The Mamalukes looked ready to win the match but Disqo used the Disqo Duck as a weapon to save the belts by disqualification. Disqo and Wright run off, taking the duck but proving that they are a few watts short of a full bulb leaving the belts in the ring and allowing the Bull and Vito to parade around the ring like they were the champions.

Shawn Stasiak is out with Stacy Keibler and he says that he will challenge any main eventer to a match. "Yo it's me, it's me, it's D-D-P" Out comes Diamond Dallas Page and he promises to make Shawn Stasiak feel the bang. Stasiak states that he doesn't swing that way and DDP slaps the taste out of his match to kick off a good old fashioned impromptu match.

Diamond Dallas Page defeated Shawn Stasiak by disqualification in 0:04:18.
Rating: * 1/2
-Stasiak pulled the referee in the way of a DDP clothesline and caused the referee to be knocked to the floor. Page hit the Diamond Cutter on Shawn Stasiak and left him in the ring.

Ric Flair defeated Rob Van Dam by countout in 0:14:57.
Rating: ** 1/4
-Ric Flair proved why he is the sixteen time WCW World Champion by outsmarting Van Dam. Van Dam went for a somersault plancha, Flair moved, and Van Dam cracked his skull on the back of the guardrail. This allowed Flair to slide into the ring and get Van Dam counted out. Van Dam is up and it appears that this is far from over. Van Dam leaps in and missile dropkick and Five Star Frog Splash, leaves Flair laying.

Lance Storm is out but before he can sing the Canadian National Anthem, Hugh Morrus interrupts him.

Lance Storm pinned Hugh Morrus with the Superkick in 0:11:08.
Rating: ** 1/2
-Hugh Morrus lead to his own downfall when he brought a chair into the mix. He swung the chair but Storm ducked it and sent it flying into the face of Hugh with the Superkick. Lance Storm covered, using the ropes to score the pin. Hugh Morrus attacked Lance Storm after the match but Lance Storm decided to live and fight another day.

Booker T pinned Scott Steiner after the Book End in 0:05:58.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Booker T won the WCW World Title.)
-We have a new champion. Scott Steiner went for a power bomb but Booker T countered with a face plant and then finished off Steiner with a Book End.

Scott Steiner going into roid rage...three...two...one. Steiner sends the referee flying with a clothesline. Booker T is next with a German Suplex. Steiner stomps away at Booker T. Steiner Recliner but "Invasion" kicks off and Goldberg is in the ramp. Goldberg is out and he leaps over the top rope. Goldberg and Steiner are nose to nose and Steiner is about ready to throw a punch but he decides to calm down and walk off. Goldberg checks on the fallen Booker T. Steiner declares that he will destroy both Goldberg and Booker T but we are out of time. See you on Nitro when Kanyon takes on Jeff Jarrett for the United States Title.

Psymin1Posted on 08/08/05 at 02:44:50

Great card, but two comments stuck out the most:

1. "Joe wins with the Island Driver and Chokes out Crowbar after the match just to be a bastard."

2. "Scott Steiner going into roid rage...three...two...one."

Absolutely hilarious!  Keep up the good writing.

~Psymin

(Oh, by the way, Jeff Jarrett is going to retain his US Title on Nitro against Kanyon.)
MattHarmsPosted on 08/14/05 at 16:50:52

WCW Monday Nitro 6/18/01

Eric Bischoff is sitting in his office with the WCW Television Title Belt. Tonight, an eight man tournament will begin. Eight of the top young stars on the planet. The winner becomes the brand new WCW Television Champion and the belt will be defended exclusively on television. You can't even see it defended on Pay Per Views.

Samoa Joe pinned Don Harris with the Island Driver in 0:07:28.
Rating: ***
-Samoa Joe scored the pin on Don Harris, despite countless switching from the Harris Twits er Twins. After the match Joe choked on Don(or maybe it was Ron) with the guillotine choke, because he can.

Buff Bagwell is backstage and countless televisions switch to the other wrestling program. Buff says that Eric Bischoff owes him a favor from something that happened back in the old WCW. But this is the new WCW so all favors should be invalid. Buff says he has a contract and he reaches into his pocket and unfolds a cocktail napkin. Bischoff walks up and says he doesn't remember signing that and that looks like the writing that Buff signed his contract in. Bischoff puts Buff in a WCW World Title Match as punishment for his false claims. Buff celebrates but Bischoff reminds him that Booker T is in a foul mood due to Scott Steiner attacking him last night.

Chavo Guerrero pinned Shark Boy after a flying forearm in 0:13:18.
Rating: ***
(Chavo Guerrero retained the WCW Cruiserweight Title.)
-Chavo Guerrero retains his Cruiserweight Title. Shark Boy and La Parka have formed an alliance due to them wearing masks and being cult favorites. La Parka comes out and dances. Chavo attempts to dance but La Parka clubs him with the chair and does the La Parka Polka to cheers from the crowd.

Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias defeated Air Raid (Air Paris and AJ Styles)
when Karagias pinned Styles with the Outrageous Corkscrew in 0:06:22.
Rating: ** 1/4
-Your standard cruiserweight tag team match to have a bunch of guys flipping and flopping around. 3 Count wins and moves up the tag team rankins.

We are informed that later tonight, the Mamalukes will face Palumbo and O' Haire where the winners get a tag team title shot at Bash at the Beach.

[Television Title Tournament First Round]:
Crowbar defeated Shawn Stasiak by disqualification in 0:07:53.
Rating: **
-Crowbar moved forward in the tournament, after Stacy Keibler interfered and put Stasiak's foot on this ropes. This is a cruel and hideous breach of the rules in a company where chairshots are as common as a clothesline and the referee doesn't call for the bell then, so naturally Stasiak is disqualified.

Rob Van Dam and Goldberg meets up. Rob Van Dam says that he has watched Goldberg and had been impressed. "Dude, you only know two moves and still you have beaten over two hundred guys." Goldberg glares at RVD but RVD says he means it as a compliment. Van Dam says he has the Five Star Frog Splash and the Van Daminator while Goldberg has the Spear and Jackhammer. Van Dam has the Rolling Thunder and the Split Legged Moonsault where Goldberg has the Spear and Jackhammer. Van Dam as the Van Terminator and the Somersault Plancha into the crowd where Goldberg has The Spear and Jackhammer. Goldberg tells Van Dam to get it done in the ring and Van Dam tells Goldberg not to sweat it because he is Rob...Van...Dam. It will be Goldberg and RVD vs Flair and Steiner tonight.

[Television Title Tournament First Round]:
Elix Skipper pinned Jason Jett after a top-rope Frankensteiner in 0:08:05.
Rating: ** 3/4
-Elix Skipper scores the pin on Jason Jett to advance forward in the Television Title Tournament.

The Boogie Nights plot. They will whack both teams so they don't have to defend the Tag Team Titles at Bash at the Beach.

Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire defeated
The Mamalukes (Johnny The Bull and Big Vito) when C. Palumbo defeated Bull by
countout in 0:03:25.
Rating: * 3/4
-Disqo attacked the Mamalukes with that stupid duck but he got beat up by O' Haire so Palumbo can make it back into the ring for the countout. Alex Wright bitches out Disqo for letting the tougher team get the win. Disqo remarks that he wasn't expecting to get attacked because he had a duck as a weapon. A Disqo Duck to be percise. O' Haire and Palumbo lay out the champions out after the match. Jungle Kick to Disqo. Fireman's Carry Spinebuster followed by a Seanton Bomb. After O' Haire and Palumbo leave, the Mamalukes beat down Disqo and Wright some more and steal the duck, no doubt leading to a classic feud over the duck.

Booker T pinned Buff Bagwell with the Scissor Kick in 0:02:55.
Rating: **
(Booker T retained the WCW World Title.)
-Buff Bagwell lost with style. A pair of Scissor Kicks and Booker T retains the title. Booker T talks about Scott Steiner after the match as we see Lance Storm and Mike Awesome in the aisle, no doubt scouting the Champion.

Jeff Jarrett pinned Kanyon with the Stroke in 0:10:26.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Jeff Jarrett retained the WCW United States Title.)
-Kanyon had the Flatliner set up but Jarrett reversed it and Scored with the Stroke for the pin to retain the title. Once again, Awesome and Storm watched on the rampway. Team Canada(or what's left of it) may want to add some gold to their collection.

Rob Van Dam and Goldberg defeated Ric Flair and Scott Steiner when RVD pinned
R. Flair with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:18:26.
Rating: ** 1/4
-Goldberg and Steiner brawl off into the sunset and this allows Flair to grab a chair but Rob Van Dam surprises Flair with a Van Daminator. It isn't as bad of a breach as a manager putting the foot on the rope so the match continues with a Five Star Frog Splash to score the pin. Van Dam celebrates as Flair seeths.

NEXT WEEK ON NITRO!:
Mike Awesome, Rob Van Dam, Lance Storm, Ric Flair. Winner of this Fatal Four Way Match will receive a World Title Shot at Bash at the Beach.

Booker T defends his WCW World Title against Shawn Stasiak.

Christopher Daniels, Shannon Moore, and Shane Helms collide for a Cruiserweight Title shot at BATB.

Two more Quarterfinal Round Matches in the Television Title Tournament will take place when Kid Romeo faces Billy Kidman and Psicosis takes on Kid Kash.

And there will be some stuff booked on the fly as well because this is WCW.
MattHarmsPosted on 08/17/05 at 03:13:17

WCW Nitro 6/25/01:

Samoa Joe pinned Ron Harris with the Island Driver in 0:05:19.
Rating: *** 1/4
-We kick off this with the Samoan named Joe and the Harris Twit named Ron. This was a lovely little squash match with Joe making Ron Harris Twit his personal bitch and finishing him off with the Island Driver. Joe is 4-0 in World Championship Wrestling as a result of this win.

Booker T is backstage. He is going to take out Shawn Stasiak to retain the WCW World Title tonight and then he is going to pay special attention to the number one contenders match between RVD, Storm, Awesome, and Flair and may the better man win, because Booker T will put them down.

Disqo and Wright fearfully nod and Steiner yells at them to get rid of that stupid duck.

[Television Title Tournament First Round Match]:
Kid Kash pinned Psicosis after a Frankensteiner from the top rope in 0:01:53.
Rating: **
-Kash put Psicosis down for the pin with a Frankensteiner off the top rope and Mr. Kash advances to the semifinals.

Television Title Semifinals: Kid Kash vs Crowbar and Kid Romeo vs Elix Skipper. Elix and Romeo are tag team partners but next week they are partners.

[Winner Receives a Cruiser Title Shot at BATB]: Triangle Match:
Shane Helms defeated Christopher Daniels and Shannon Moore when Helms pinned
S. Moore with the Nightmare of Helms Street in 0:16:17.
Rating: *** 3/4
-Chavo had some commentary at ringside and declared he can beat all three of these men but Shane Helms was the victor tonight. Chavo begs for some new competion, as he just beat Shane Helms last month at the Great American Bash. Chavo attacks Helms to remind us that he is a heel and lays him out with a Brain Buster. Hasta La Pasta or some Mexican thing.

Diamond Dallas Page defeated Jeff Jarrett by disqualification in 0:04:29.

(Jeff Jarrett retained the WCW United States Title.)

Chavo Guerrero Jr is out and he declares that he is the best Cruiserweight Wrestler on the planet. To prove it, he will defend his belt against any wrestler. Shark Boy runs out. Chavo Guerrero Jr. pinned Shark Boy after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:10:41.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Chavo Guerrero Jr. retained the WCW Cruiserweight Title.)
-Shark Boy wasn't good enough to beat Chavo on this night. Just like two weeks ago, Chavo retained his Cruiserweight Title against Shark Boy.

I wish I had noticed this topic earlier because this is an excellent read. I got through the Great American Bash, but I didn't want to read anything further until I had more time.

I don't know if it has happened yet (again, I've only read to the 2nd show), but I think a confrontation between Samoa Joe and Goldberg would be killer.

WCW Bash at the Beach 7/15/01:

Samoa Joe pinned Jamie Noble with the Island Driver in 0:06:44.
Rating: *** 1/4
-Noble bumped around pretty good for Joe's offense. A nice pair of German Suplexes and an Island Driver put Noble out of his misery. After the match, Joe chokes out Noble, just because he can.

Christopher Daniels pinned Billy Kidman with the Last Rites in 0:09:42.
Rating: *** 1/2
-High flying wrestling action tonight. Daniels makes the age old mistake of power bombing Kidman and we all know what happens there. Kidman goes up top and nearly lands on his head on an attempted Shooting Star Press. He didn't hit all of it, so he only gets a two count. Rydeen Bomb is countered with a DDT and Daniels gives Kidman his Last Rites to score the pin. Daniels will receive a shot at the Cruiserweight Title August 12th at Mayhem.

Lance Storm and Mike Awesome plot backstage, vowing to win both the United States and World Titles tonight in their seperate matches.

Shane Helms pinned Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the Vertabreaker in 0:17:20.
Rating: *****
(Shane Helms won the WCW Cruiserweight Title.)
-One of the best matches of the year, which had Chavo work over the leg of Helms for most of the match. Helms survived a Texas Cloverleaf and Brain Buster is reversed into a Nightmare on Helms Street for two and Helms scores with the Vertebreaker(it will break your spine) to score the pin and capture the Cruiserweight Title.

3 Count are out and attempt to sing but the Mamalukes do their good deed for today by sparing us of the lip synching and crown 3 Count with their green circles. It is on, like Donkey Kong.

The Mamalukes (Big Vito and Johnny The Bull) defeated
Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias when Johnny The Bull pinned Karagias with the
Flying Legdrop in 0:14:29.
Rating: *** 1/4
-The Mamalukes score the pin after the Paizan Plant from Vito and a Johnny Flying Legdrop.

The Mamalukes are in the ring but "KRONIK, KRONIK, KRONIK." It is 4:20(sit down RVD) as Kronik makes their return to WCW and lays out the Mamalukes. Kronik takes out Vito with the High Times. Johnny the Bull gets the same thing. They sell the moves like they have injured necks due to the High Times.

Elix Skipper pinned Kid Romeo after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:08:35.
Rating: *** 1/4
-Kid Romeo was cocky and gave up several easy pin attempts. Elix showed why he is the WCW Television Champion but reversing a Swinging DDT into a Northern Lights Suplex and bridges for the pin. Romeo gets up and looks upset but reluctantly shakes Elix's hand and raises it in the air in a sign of respect.

Boogie Knights (Alex Wright and DISQO) defeated Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo
when DISQO pinned C. Palumbo with the Last Dance in 0:07:27.
Rating: ***
(Boogie Knights retained the WCW Tag Team Titles.)
-The Boogie Nights have done it again but once again it was with controversy. Wright was pinned with the Superkick/Seanton Bomb combo but no referee to make the count so Disqo enters the ring and hits Palumbo with the Disqo Duck for two. Disqo scores with the Last Dance and finally scores the pin.

Shark Boy and La Parka defeated Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi when La Parka pinned
Yang with the Twisting Bodyblock in 0:09:22.
Rating: ** 1/2
-A special bonus match, the charismatic masked duo of Shark Boy and La Parka beat the Jung Dragons. Shark Boy took out Kaz with the Dead Sea Drop when La Parka scored the pin on Yang with the Twisting Bodyblock. After the match, Shark Boy and La Parka danced to cheers from the crowd.

Four Corners Match:
Shawn Stasiak defeated Mike Awesome, Diamond Dallas Page and Jeff Jarrett:
x DDP beat J. Jarrett via disqualification in 0:05:54
x DDP beat Awesome via the Diamond Cutter in 0:18:22
x Stasiak beat DDP via the Hangman Neckbreaker in 0:22:35
Rating: ***
(Shawn Stasiak won the WCW United States Title.)
-The least likely wrestler has captured the United States Title. Once Jarrett was caught using the guitar on DDP, we knew that we would see a new United States Champion. When DDP avoided the Awesome Bomb and hit the Diamond Cutter, it appeared that DDP was going to regain the United States Title that he has held twice before. However, Stasiak's manager, Stacy Keibler, distracted the referee, allowing Stasiak to spray DDP in the eyes with Stacy's hairspray and score the pin with the Neckbreaker. Shawn Stasiak poses with the United States Title and Stacy Keibler, to boos from the crowd.

Rob Van Dam pinned Ric Flair after a springboard moonsault in 0:14:02.
Rating: *** 3/4
-Flair and Van Dam had a nice little fifteen minute match. Flair worked over the leg and Figure Four but RVD fought it and got in the ropes. Flair made the classic mistake of going to the top rope and Van Dam launched him off. Van Dam goes for a spin kick but Flair ducks and the referee gets popped in the jaw. Flair catches Rob Van Dam with a low blow and Flair goes to the outside, with a chair. Flair drops the chair and goes for an elbow but RVD ducks it and picks up the chair. Don't catch it, Ric! Whoops, Van Dam delivers the Van Daminator and does a forward roll, landing on the top rope, delivering a breath taking springboard moonsault. The referee is back on and Van Dam scores the pin.

Booker T pinned Lance Storm after hitting him with the title belt in 0:19:28.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Booker T retained the WCW World Title.)
-This was a pretty good techinical wrestling match. Storm worked over the leg of Booker T but Booker T avoided the Canadian Mapleleaf and came back. Booker T threw every move that he knew but Storm kept kicking out. Booker got frustrated and Booker T whips Storm into the ropes and knee. Scissors Kick but Storm barely gets the shoulder up at two and three fourths count. Book End, nearfall. Booker T up top after a side slam and Harlem Hangover. Storm once again gets out. Booker T is up top and he goes for the Missile Dropkick but Storm moves and Booker T hits the canvas.

Storm rushes Booker T but Booker T grabs the referee by the arm and STORM COLLIDES WITH THE REFEREE. Was Booker T trying to get up or did he blantly pull the referee in the way? Booker T slides to the floor and grans the WCW World Title Belt and smashes it into the face of Storm. Most of the crowd cheers but there are some boos due to Booker T's heelish actions. Booker T bounces off the ropes with the belt and drives it down across the chest of a downed Storm. More boos than cheers on that second one. Booker T covers Storm and scores the pin. Booker T attempts to celebrate but the majority of the crowd is booking. Booker just shrugs and leaves with the belt.

[Winner Receives a World Title Shot at Mayhem]:
Bill Goldberg pinned Scott Steiner with the Jackhammer in 0:12:55.
Rating: **** 1/4
-Hard hitting match. Steiner worked over Goldberg and slammed him into the ringsteps. Steiner put Goldberg on the top rope and Super Frankensteiner takes both men over. More working over and Steiner has the pipe. Steiner delivers a pair of shots with the pipe, drawing boos. The referee lets it go. Steiner has the Steiner Recliner on Goldberg and two and a half arm drops before Goldberg powers out. Steiner goes for a Steinerline but Goldberg ducks and Superkick takes Steiner down. Goldberg backs off and spear. Goldberg lifts up Steiner and goes for the Jackhammer but Steiner grabs him around the head and reverse DDT takes Goldberg down. Nearfall. Steiner climbs to the top rope and leaps off with a double axe handle but Goldberg catches him, knees him, sets him up, and brings him down with the Jackhammer to score the pin to an earsplitting pop. Goldberg will get a WCW World Title Shot at Mayhem.
