GWA Ground Zero - 08/13/05

AzraelPosted on 08/24/05 at 04:05:01

(The show opens with a pretaped segment. Tully Blanchard is in his office when Kurt Angle walks in.)

TB: And what can I do for you today, Kurt?

KA: Since I beat the Rock so badly on Sunday that he's not even going to be here tonight, I want to settle something.

TB: Oh?

KA: I want that Maximo kid in the ring tonight. I'll make him regret ever even thinking about getting in the ring with me, let alone getting that fluke pin.

TB: Done.

KA: Good. I'm going to show him his place. I don't want his head to get swelled up. He'll never be good enough to get this belt.

TB: About that...

KA: What?

TB: Well, as you said, you beat the Rock, and Rey Misterio Jr. lost the best of five series to Low Ki. So both men are tumbling out of the Contender Rankings.

KA: So?

TB: Then there has to be someone to fill the spot. But who could it be? I think someone who pinned you what suffice, don't you?

KA: You've got to be kidding.

TB: So tonight it will be...
KA: This is...
TB: ...Kurt Angle....
KA: ...horsecrap, I should....
TB: ...versus Joel Maximo...
KA: ...be treated better...
TB: ...for the GWA...
KA: ...than this...
TB: ...North American Title.

KA: There is no freaking way! He is not in my league.

TB: Thanks for your time Kurt.

KA: Are you listening to me?

TB: Thanks for your time.

(Angle glares at Blanchard and leaves in a huff.)

TB: Now, who's going to be the number one contender?

(The camera then goes live as fireworks explode to start off Ground Zero! Last Sunday at WrestleRave, Kurt Angle defended the North American Title by making the Rock tap out to the Ankle Lock. Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock survived a war with Mexico's Most Wanted. The Amazing Red pinned Low Ki, who earlier in the night beat Rey Misterio Jr. to earn the shot. Taz choked out Christopher Daniels. Edge fought the newest Dynasty member, who turned out to be Rhyno, but got himself DQ'd to retain the belt. Catch the encore when it comes on. But for now, "Head Like a Hole" starts playing as Triple X walks down the aisle. All three men get in the ring and Daniels takes a mic.)

CD: I would like to take the time to apologize to all of you people. At WrestleRave, I had a goal. I had a mission. I wanted to get into the ring and destroy Taz. I wanted to make sure that he would be an example to everyone about what I stand for. About what I am. But instead, I was beaten. I passed out in that illegal chokehold of his. And for that I'm sorry. But I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep doing what I do to make sure that all you people know the glory of the Light. That all you people, who lap up the drivel you're spoonfed, will finally be given what you really desire...what you need. You're too dumb to know it right now, but sooner or later, you'll find that out.

(The crowd boos as Daniels waits for a few seconds. He turns to Elix Skipper and Low Ki.)

CD: But as for you two. What happened? Elix, all you had to do was watch my back against Taz to make sure he didn't try anything funny. But he still choked me. He still bludgeoned me outside of the ring. You didn't do your job. I blame this setback on you.

(Skipper glares at Daniels.)

CD: And you Low Ki. Yeah, you beat Rey Misterio Jr. But you lost to Red. You got rolled up and beat. Where's the intensity in that? Where's the fire? You've had two chances now to get the Cruiserweight Title and both times you've failed. What's the matter with you? You'd better shape up...

(Ki grabs the mic from Daniels.)

LK: Chris, I'm getting tired of your rants. I'm getting tired of your ego. So I ended up losing Sunday. I wrestled twice. The next time I face Red, he will not be so lucky. But if you have a problem with me, say so right now and we'll deal with it. But just keep in mind, I won a match last night. All I saw you do was get choked out.

(Daniels takes the mic back from Ki and starts to speak, but then just decides to slap Ki in the face. Skipper's jaw drops open as Ki reels back from the slap.)

CD: What do you have to say now?

(Ki seethes, then hits Daniels with a forearm to knock him down. He tries to jump on him to attack him some more, but Skipper pulls him off and tries to take him out of the ring. Daniels gets up and moves over to attack Ki, but Skipper pushes him away too. Ki takes the opportunity to spring up and pop Daniels in the nose. Daniels goes down as Skipper gets Ki out of the ring. He's pushing Ki up the ramp as Daniels takes the mic.)

CD: Is that what you want? You want a fight? You've got it! I'm going to get a match with you signed for tonight. You're dead to me Low Ki! You hear that? You're dead to me!

(Daniels drops the mic down and starts to leave the ring while still maintaining a healthy distance from Low Ki as the camera cuts to the Maximos in the back.)

Jose: Did you hear?

Joel: About my title shot? Yeah. I'm excited. The last time I wrestled Angle, I took him to his limit. I could see it in his eyes. I might not have pinned him cleanly, but I worried him. And that was just the first time. This time, I can beat him. I know it.

Jose: I'm sure you can. But as for me, I'm going to enjoy beating up on Deranged.

Joel: What was up with them jumping us Sunday anyway?

Jose: I don't know, but I really don't care either. They attacked us and that means we're taking them out.

Joel: No doubt. The GWA's going to find out what happens when you mess with the Maximos.

(The camera cuts to the ring where "Tell Me Why" by Paul Van Dyk is playing. Deranged and Spanky are already in the ring, dancing. After a few seconds of this, "At the Helm" starts and the SAT walk to the ring. They slap hands with the fans on the way. The SAT were part of the triangle match at WrestleRave. They beat the Young Lions with the Spanish Fly, but Jose was attacked by Liquid Sticks shortly after, leaving Joel alone to be beaten by AJ Styles and Christian. The Maximos want revenge and Liquid Sticks want...well, they haven't really made that clear. Jose gets in the ring and the bell rings.)

[Deranged (w/Spanky) vs. Jose Maximo (w/Joel Maximo)]

Deranged taunts Jose as the match starts, then turns to talk to Spanky, but Jose rushes him from behind. Deranged hits the mat as Jose hits him with a series of stomps. He brings Deranged to his feet and whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a lariat. He makes a cover, but Deranged kicks out. Deranged struggles up as Jose attacks him from behind again, whacking each side of his head with forearms. He whips him into the ropes, but Deranged comes back with a twisting kick to the face to buy him some time. Deranged holds his jaw, then stomps Jose a couple times before bringing him up and whipping him into the ropes. Jose reverses it and takes him down with an armdrag. Deranged gets up and Jose runs at him, but Deranged drops to the mat and pulls down the top rope to take him to the outside. Deranged distracts the ref as Spanky comes over and puts the boots to Jose. However, Joel runs around to break that up. Jose struggles to get up as Deranged runs into the ropes and dives onto him with a backspring Asai moonsault. Deranged picks Jose up and rolls him back into the ring. He makes a cover, but Jose kicks out at two. Deranged throws Jose into the corner and follows in, but Jose gets up a boot. Deranged staggers back and Jose comes out with some punches. He whips him into the ropes and takes him down with a dropkick. He climbs to the top rope and waits for Deranged to get up, then jumps onto him with a flying cross body press. Deranged kicks out at two and both men get up. Deranged blocks a punch and then steps on Jose's foot to make him lose his balance. Deranged then pops him with the Shining Wizard to knock him to the mat. Jose gets up slowly as Deranged runs into the ropes and delivers the Blueprint. He holds him for the three.

Deranged pinned Jose Maximo with the Blueprint in 0:07:26.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Spanky interfered against Jose Maximo.]

(Deranged celebrates, but leaves the ring as Joel enters to check on Jose. He and Spanky then laugh at the Maximos as they head to the back. The camera cuts to the back and Tully Blanchard's office again. Rey Misterio Jr. rushes in.)

RM: You've gotta help me.

TB: For what?

RM: You knocked me off the contender list for the North American Title.

TB: You knocked yourself off. You're the one that lost the series with Low Ki.

RM: Regardless, I want to get back on the top. So put in a match, any match and I'll go out and beat them.

TB: Well, I guess I can clear up the Cruiserweight division by putting you against...CIMA.

RM: Excellent. Thanks.

(Misterio leaves as the camera cuts to the Dynasty who are walking in the back. Lance Storm steps in front of them.)

Rhyno: What the hell do you want?

LS: I thought you were going to make me the fourth member. I'm the wrestling genius. I've teamed with you before. I was the perfect choice. But you pick this...thug instead?

Chris Jericho: Look Lance, it's nothing personal, but Rhyno...he's a man I'd rather have on my side. He's hungry for gold...for respect. And that's the kind of guy I want in the Dynasty.

LS: But...

CJ: Let me make you a deal. You're facing Corino tonight, right?

LS: Yeah.

CJ: Beat him and then we'll talk.

(The Dynasty laughs as Storm tries to get himself pumped. We go back to the ring, where "Blue Flowes" plays bringing out Quiet Storm and Tajiri. They apparently are going to make their team a more permanent thing. Storm runs down the aisle and jumps on the apron while Tajiri walks down with Trinity. Both men enter the ring and stretch a little as "Bulls on Parade" starts. The Havana Pitbulls come out to a decent reaction and raise their arms in the air. They beat Liquid Sticks last week on Ground Zero and are looking to continue their momentum now.)

[Quiet Storm and Tajiri (w/Trinity) vs. The Havana Pitbulls]

Storm and Romero start out. They lock up and get into a test of strength, which Romero wins. He forces Storm to the mat, but Storm forces him back to his feet with his legs and stands up again. He hits a few knees to the gut and whips him into the ropes, then brings him to the mat with a backdrop. Romero gets up and Storm takes him down with an armdrag. Romero gets to his feet and Storm armdrags him down again. He keeps the arm in an armbar as he tags in Tajiri. Tajiri comes in and hits a couple kicks to the back as Storm releases the hold. They bring Romero up and whip him into the ropes, but Reyes tags himself in as Romero goes by. Storm lifts Romero up and Tajiri pops him with a dropkick. Tajiri starts to go for the cover, but Reyes comes in and blasts him with a knee to the face. He keeps up the pressure on Tajiri and whips him into the ropes, taking him down with a side suplex. He makes the cover, but Tajiri gets his shoulder up at two. Reyes brings Tajiri to his feet and whips him into the corner. He walks in and kicks him a few times, then brings him out and hits a forearm. He keeps going to work and whips him into the ropes, but Tajiri comes back with a handspring elbow. Tajiri waits for Reyes to get up and knocks him back down with a spinning leg lariat. He makes the cover, but Reyes kicks out. Tajiri brings Reyes up and tries to whip him into the corner, but Reyes reverses it. Reyes charges in, but Tajiri gets his foot up. Reyes is stunned and Tajiri grabs him before scooting up to the second rope. He goes for a tornado DDT, but Reyes throws him off and Tajiri lands on his feet. Tajiri throws a thrust kick, but Reyes ducks under. He then immediately grabs Tajiri and hits a reverse neckbreaker. He tags in Romero, who comes in and stomps away at Tajiri. They bring Tajiri up and whip him into the corner. Romero runs in and hits a high knee to make Tajiri come out and Reyes runs over him with a lariat. Reyes leaves the ring as Romero covers, but Storm breaks up the pin. Romero turns Tajiri over and punts him in the ribs. Tajiri lands near the ropes and uses them to get up, but Romero charges at him. Tajiri puts up a foot to knock him back and connects with a lariat. Romero gets up and Tajiri brings him down with a huracanrana for two. He tags in Storm, who comes in and drops an elbow on Romero. Storm hits a couple headbutts and whips Romero into the ropes. He goes for the Roaring Elbow, but Romero blocks it and kicks him in the midsection. He goes for a DDT, but Storm blocks it and hits a Northern Lights suplex for two. Storm brings Romero up and tries to lift him up for a fisherman buster, but Romero gets out and immediately puts him in a Fujiwara armbar. Tajiri comes in to break the hold and Reyes enters as well and everything breaks loose. Reyes hits Tajiri with a series of kneelifts to the head, before Storm attacks him from behind. However, Romero hits Storm from behind with a high knee that makes him bounce off the ropes and stagger back, where Reyes picks him up and folds him in half with a belly-to-back suplex. Tajiri starts to stand and Reyes lifts him and hits a spinning backbreaker and holds him as Romero climbs to the top. Romero jumps off and hits the Cuban Missile Crisis, then covers for the win.

The Havana Pitbulls defeated Quiet Storm and Tajiri when Romero pinned Tajiri after the Cuban Missile Crisis in 0:11:09.
Rating: *** 1/2

(Romero and Reyes get on the turnbuckles and raise their arms as Storm and Tajiri collect themselve.s The Pitbulls drop back down to the mat and offer their hands to their opponents. Storm shakes Reyes' hand, but Tajiri's too out of it to notice Romero. The Pitbulls leave the ring as Trinity checks on Tajiri. Next, we go to a break.)

(After the break, we find El Generico already in the ring. He looks at the entryway and waits for his opponent. "Raining Blood" starts playing as Rhyno runs down the aisle as the rest of the Dynasty walks behind him. Rhyno slides under the bottom rope and the bell rings.)

[El Generico vs. Rhyno (w/The Dynasty)]

Rhyno takes Generico down with a lariat and then stomps away at him. He brings Generico up to his feet and clubs him in the back with some forearms, then whips him hard into the corner. Generico pops out, but Rhyno picks him up and drives him to the mat with a spinebuster. Instead of covering, Rhyno raises his arms to the crowd. He puts a foot on Generico's chest, but Generico gets his shoulder up. Rhyno brings Generico up again and whips him into the corner. He runs after him, but Generico moves out of the way, leaving Rhyno stunned. Generico runs at him and pops him with a Yakuza kick. He walks to the center of the ring and yells "Ole!", but then turns around into a Gore. The three count is academic.

Rhyno pinned El Generico with the Gore in 0:04:09.
Rating: ** 1/2

(Rhyno gets up and raises his arms in the air as the rest of the Dynasty enters. Styles brings Generico up and tosses him over the top rope. Jericho gets a mic.)

CJ: That's what I'm talking about! At WrestleRave, you saw the beginning of the Dynasty. You saw Rhyno beat the Edge so bad that the Edge had to run away to keep his title. You saw AJ Styles and Christian completely humiliate the Suckass Announce Team and those other guys and put themselves in line for the Tag Team Titles...that they should already have.

(Christian nods at Jericho.)

CJ: But like I said, that was the beginning. Now, it's going to continue. Because like I said, we feel that the Tag Team champs should be AJ Styles and Christian. So next week, Benoit, Shamrock, I want you to find two partners and face the four of us. We'll tear you limb from limb and show to the world and to Tully Blanchard who the champs should be. And Benoit, what happened to you at Bloody Summer will just be a pleasant day at the spa compared to what's to come.

(Rhyno walks up to Jericho and starts breathing heavily.)

CJ: You want to say something.

(Rhyno nods and Jericho hands him the mic.)

Rhyno: I keep getting stopped on the street and asked why I joined the Dynasty. And it's simple. I like hurting people. Just point a direction and I'll Gore the **** out of it. But things weren't working for me. I cared about what you people thought. And it didn't get me anywhere. My very first night in the GWA, I squashed Kurt Angle like a bug. But what happens in the tournament? I lose in the first round. So I needed to stop doing things for you...and do things for me. So that's why I'm here. If there's someone the Dynasty needs taken out, I take them out. If there's something I want, I take it. And Edge, I want your title. Elix Skipper's saved you a couple times, but I have a feeling that won't happen any more. You ran like a little girl at WrestleRave, but soon, there will be nowhere to run. There will be nowhere to hide. And all you'll be able to do is stand there like a good little bitch and get Gored to death.

(Jericho gets the mic back.)

CJ: So with all that said, you're all going to be seeing a lot more of us from now on. And the wrestling world will never be the same again.

("Jesus Christ Pose" starts playing as Jericho drops the mic and jaws with the fans. Styles and Christian look smugly while Rhyno runs around like a psychopath. The camera cuts to the back where Christopher Daniels walks out of Tully Blanchard's office.)

CD: It's done.

Man: So you got the match?

(Daniels turns to find Elix Skipper.)

CD: Yes. Tonight, I'm going to show Low Ki what happens when people put their hands on me. But I want to know where you stand.

ES: Hey man, I don't have any problem with either of you. So things didn't work out at WrestleRave, there's still time to patch things up and win. We can get through this.

CD: No, Low Ki's crossed a line. I allowed him to be at the forefront of the future of wrestling, but he's turned that down. And now, there's no second chance. There's only vengeance.

(Daniels walks off as Skipper shakes his head. The camera cuts to Steve Corino in a pretaped message.)

SC: Last week at WrestleRave, I made my GWA debut. And while I got my point across, I didn't take on anyone in the ring. Tonight, that changes. Tonight, I have Lance Storm. A self-proclaimed expert in wrestling. A man who has all the holds in the world, but doesn't have that little something extra to get to the next level. A man who cannot possibly compare to the King of Old School Steve Corino. But Lance, I want you to sit back during our match and learn. I want you to see what the complete package looks like. At this point in my life, I've got it all Lance Storm. I've got the cars, I've got the house, I've got the girl, I've got the notoriety. You have nothing. So I want you to take a look at this match, whether it be while you're wrestling it or on tape when you're at home icing your face, and I want you to see the difference between me and you...the difference between a wrestling expert...and a wrestling god.

(The camera cuts back to the ring where "Kids With Guns" plays as Tony Mamaluke walks down to the ring. He screams as he jumps on the apron, eager to try to win a match in the GWA. Unfortunately, tonight doesn't look like the night for it. The lights dim and "Swamp Thing" starts playing as Taz walks out with a towel draped over his head. He walks down the aisle and steps through the ropes as the lights brighten again. He tosses the towel to the attendant and the match begins.)

[Tony Mamaluke vs. Taz]

Mamaluke throws a few punches at the air while Taz stands with his arms folded. Mamaluke then moves over to Taz and punches him in the face. He follows it up with some chops that knock Taz back, but Taz hits a huge forearm to knock Mamaluke to the mat. Mamaluke gets up in shock, but Taz runs and hits him with a knee to the gut, then whips him into the corner. Mamaluke bounces out and Taz knocks him down with a lariat. Mamaluke rolls away and begs off, but Taz just stomps him in the head. He brings Mamaluke to his feet and whips him into the ropes, hitting another lariat. Mamaluke scrambles to his feet and nails Taz with a palm blow as he advances. Taz steps back and favors his face, allowing Mamaluke to take him down with a dropkick to the knee. He quickly gets up and stomps away at him, then tries to apply a double chickenwing submission, but Taz fights out. Mamaluke staggers Taz with a European uppercut and then runs into the ropes. He goes for a running palm blow, but Taz pushes the hand out of the way. Mamaluke turns around to face Taz, but he gets grabbed and thrown to the mat with a T-Bone suplex. Mamaluke gets up again, but Taz gets behind him and hits a tiger suplex. He bridges, but Mamaluke kicks out in time. Taz brings Mamaluke up and whips him into the ropes, then grabs him on the way back and drops him on his head with a head and arm suplex. Mamaluke gets up slowly and Taz locks in the Tazmission. Rather than choking out, Mamaluke decides to just tap out.

Taz made Tony Mamaluke submit to the Tazmission in 0:06:49.
Rating: ****

(Mamaluke put up a good effort, but couldn't pull out the victory. Taz lets go of the hold and Mamaluke rolls out of the ring. Taz raises his arms in the air and the camera cuts to Jake Roberts in a darkened room with Mexico's Most Wanted.)

JR: Hurrah to Chris Benoit. Hurrah to Ken Shamrock. They managed to beat Mexico's Most Wanted at WrestleRave. They kept their titles...their careers...their lives. But this isn't the end. No, this ain't over. This one problem didn't ruin our resolve. We won't crumble because of one loss. We are strengthening our legacy. We are making sure that our names will never die. If it wasn't difficult...if there wouldn't be problems...if anyone could do it...what would be the point? You'll be seeing more of us soon. Very soon. Trust me...

(The camera cuts back to the ring and "The Hollow" plays as Lance Storm walks to the ring. He steps through the ropes and raises his arms to boos from the crowd. Storm's had an uneven run in the GWA thus far, but he has taken both the Rock and Edge to the limit in the past. He's looking to beat Steve Corino in order to impress Chris Jericho and get a spot in the Dynasty. The lights go out and a spotlight roams the crowd as "O Fortuna" by Therion plays as Steve Corino walks to the entryway. He jaws with some fans and walks down the aisle. He is making his wrestling debut in the GWA and obviously wants to pick up a win tonight. He steps through the ropes and takes off his robe as the lights go back to normal.)

[Lance Storm vs. Steve Corino]

They lock up. Storm gets the advantage with a hammerlock, but Corino responds with a couple elbows to the nose. He hits Storm with a chop and whips him into the ropes, taking him down with a backdrop. Storm pops up, but Corino knocks him down with a lariat. Corino hits Storm with a couple stomps before yelling at the crowd. He brings Storm to his feet, but Storm shoves him in the corner and hits him with a series of chops. He brings Corino out of the corner and whips him into the ropes, hitting a leg lariat. He makes a cover for two. He brings Corino up, but Corino scratches him in the eyes to stagger him. Storm moves away, allowing Corino to hit him with a leg lariat of his own. A cover gets two. He brings Storm up and hits a few forearms to the back before whipping him into the ropes. Storm reverses and applies a sleeper, but Corino immediately breaks free and pushes Storm into the corner. Storm staggers back and Corino rolls him up, but Storm kicks out for the near fall. Both men get up and lock up again. Storm pushes Corino into the corner, but Corino hits him with a headbutt as soon as he tries to break. Corino hits a series of forearms to back Storm up and then takes a step back, coming forward with a superkick. Storm ducks under and knocks Corino down with a dropkick. Corino gets up slowly and Storm staggers him with a jawbreaker then snaps him down with a Frankensteiner. He holds him for a near fall. Storm brings Corino up, but Corino quickly brings him down with an STO. He hooks the leg, but Storm still kicks out. Corino gets up and waits for Storm to rise, then goes for another superkick. Storm catches his foot and spins him around, then goes for a Northern Lights suplex. Corino blocks that and hits him with a few knees to the chest to break Storm's grasp. He then spins Storm around and hits the Old School Expulsion. He covers for three.

Steve Corino pinned Lance Storm with the Old School Expulsion in 0:07:41.
Rating: **

(Corino laughs and raises his arm, then exits the ring as Rhyno and Chris Jericho walk down the aisle. Rhyno runs and slides under the bottom rope while Jericho gets a mic and enters the ring.)

CJ: Lance, it was all very simple. Beat Corino and you could have been in. But you lost. And now it's time to pay the consequences.

(Jericho slaps Storm in the face repeatedly while Storm is too out of it to fight back. Jericho tells Rhyno to pick Storm up and he does so. Rhyno then turns and plants him with a spinebuster! Jericho applies the Walls of Jericho as Rhyno stomps away at Storm's head. After a few seconds of this, the crowd cheers as Edge runs down the aisle with a chair. Jericho lets go and bails while Edge swings at Rhyno, but misses. Edge checks on Storm before the camera cuts to the back to find Low Ki doing a series of squats. Elix Skipper walks in.)

ES: Sorry man, I couldn't get him to cancel the match.

LK: Good. I'll shut his mouth once and for all.

ES: Come on, he's not that bad a guy.

LK: How can you say that? After the way he treats you? He thinks we're nothing more than his personal servants. His thugs for hire. I don't know about you, but I'm more than that. I'm my own man.

ES: Look, I don't have any problems with Chris. He's just frustrated he didn't beat Taz. That's all. Just wait and it'll all blow over.

LK: It'll all end. Tonight...when I destroy him in the middle of the ring. And if you have a problem with that, then just stay out of my way. This is between me and him.

ES: Don't say I didn't try to stop you.

(Skipper leaves the shot as Low Ki goes back to stretching. The camera then cuts to a shot of Rey Misterio Jr., who is WALKING for the next match. It cuts to CIMA, who is also walking. Misterio vs. CIMA is next after the break. Wait a minute, someone just tackled CIMA and is punching him repeatedly! They roll around, but the man keeps punching CIMA. A sea of officials come in and pull the man off, revealing him to be Jerry Lynn! Officials move CIMA away as we actually do go to the break this time.)

("Yatahaze" plays as CIMA walks down the aisle, starting the first of three main events tonight. He's a little worse for the wear after that attack from Jerry Lynn. Over the course of the GWA, CIMA has taken out both Kanyon and Jerry Lynn, which is probably the reason he just was attacked. He beat Quiet Storm at WrestleRave and has moved to the top portion of the Cruiserweight division. He steps through the ropes and waits for his opponent. "Symphony for the Dead" plays as Rey Misterio walks out. He looks intently at CIMA as he walks down the aisle and ignores the fans. Misterio lost a hard fought best-of-five series with Low Ki and has fallen out of the contender list. Beating CIMA could put him back at the top. Misterio hops over the top rope and enters a staredown with CIMA.)

[CIMA vs. Rey Misterio Jr.]

They lock up and Misterio gets behind CIMA, but CIMA brings him down with a snap mare. Rey gets up and armdrags CIMA to the mat. CIMA tries to get up, but Misterio jumps on him and hits a series of forearms to the face. He brings him up and keeps hitting CIMA until they're in the corner. CIMA knocks Rey back with a kneesmash and staggers him with a headbutt. He walks out and hits a couple more headbutts, then whips Rey into the ropes, but Rey comes back with spinning headscissors. CIMA gets up and Rey knocks him back down with a dropkick. CIMA springs back up, but Rey hits him with a hiptoss and follows with a legdrop. He covers for a two count. Both men get up and Rey forces CIMA into the ropes with a couple forearms. He whips CIMA into the ropes, but CIMA hits him with a spinning leg lariat on the way back. Rey gets up slowly and CIMA lifts him up, dropping him with a front-layout suplex. Rey bounces back up to his knees and CIMA measures him before popping him in the head with a dropkick. Rey rolls over and CIMA covers for a two count. CIMA brings Rey to his feet and tries to lift him up for a power bomb, but Rey blocks it and sweeps CIMA then flips over in a jack-knife cradle. CIMA bridges out and both men go to a standing position. Rey kicks CIMA in the midsection and tries to take away CIMA's legs with a few kicks to the thigh. CIMA staggers away and Rey rocks him with a chop. Rey follows after CIMA but gets hit with a kick. He tries to go forward again, but CIMA knocks him down with a jumping elbow thrust. CIMA immediately follows that with a double foot stomp on Rey's head and hits a quick baseball slide before covering for two. He brings Rey to his feet and pushes him in the corner before hitting a series of chops. He punches Rey in the head to soften him up and runs to the other corner. He runs back to Rey, but Rey moves out of the way of the charge. CIMA staggers back and Rey rolls him up with an inside cradle for two. Both get up and CIMA misses with a lariat, allowing Rey to dropkick him in the back. CIMA lands on the middle rope and Rey runs into the ropes and goes for the 619, but CIMA moves out of the way.

CIMA gets up and they lock up again. Rey applies a headlock, but CIMA lifts him up for a back suplex. Rey flips over and runs into the ropes with CIMA. He attempts a rolling reverse cradle, but CIMA holds onto the ropes and Rey's the only one rolling. Rey gets up and ducks under a superkick from CIMA. CIMA turns around, but Rey's already jumped off the middle ropes and hits him with an Asai moonsault. The ref counts the near fall. Rey gets up and kicks CIMA in the midsection before hitting a sitdown faceslam. He makes another cover, but CIMA kicks out again. Rey hits CIMA with a couple forearms to the back and whips him into the corner, but CIMA reverses and immediately follows him in with a palm blow. Rey slumps to the mat as CIMA takes a few steps back, then runs into the corner and hits him in the head with a dropkick. He pulls him away from the ropes and covers, but Rey still kicks out. CIMA gets up and dives down onto Rey, hitting him with a headbutt. He gets up and delivers another one. He places Rey on the top rope and hits him with the Venus to make him slump forward. He then grabs Rey and brings him back into the ring with the Iconoclasm! He steps through the ropes, climbs to the top rope and jumps off with the Mad Splash, but Rey moves out of the way. Rey gets up as CIMA is staggered and tries to hit him with a spinning leg lariat, but CIMA ducks and Rey hits the referee. Rey checks on the ref as CIMA gets back up. He turns around and CIMA pops him with a superkick. Rey slumps to the mat and CIMA covers, but there's no ref to count.

CIMA gets up and looks perplexed about what to do, but Jerry Lynn runs down the aisle and slides into the ring! He tackles CIMA and starts punching away at him. CIMA's been taken totally by surprise and can't do much more than cover up. Rey gets up and tries to pull Lynn off, but Lynn piefaces him away. However, this allows CIMA to hit him in the face with a headbutt. Lynn gets up gingerly and CIMA takes him out of the ring with a palm blow. However, Rey hits him from behind with a spinning leg lariat and CIMA lands on the middle rope. Rey runs into the ropes and hits the 619 this time. He then immediately comes back in with a springboard legdrop. He makes the cover, but there's still no ref. Rey checks on the ref again, but CIMA reaches his feet. They trade forearms while Lynn gets up on the outside and picks up a chair. He slides in the ring as Rey's starting to get the better of the battle. Rey pops CIMA in the face and CIMA stumbles right into Lynn. Lynn backs up and swings the chair, but CIMA ducks and Lynn hits Rey! Lynn looks at what he's done and shrugs, then goes back to attack CIMA, but CIMA dropkicks the chair into his face. Lynn hits the mat and slowly rolls out of the ring as CIMA slaps the ref hard in the face and covers Rey. The ref slowly moves over and makes the three count.

CIMA pinned Rey Misterio Jr. after outside interference in 0:14:00.

[Jerry Lynn interfered against Rey Misterio Jr.]
[Jerry Lynn interfered against CIMA.]

(Jerry Lynn's interference has backfired not only because it allowed CIMA to defeat Rey Misterio Jr., but he also lies on the outside of the ring after CIMA caught him with that dropkick. CIMA raises his arms in the air as Red walks out to the entryway to glare at him. CIMA notices him and then looks back to Rey. He smiles and lifts Rey up and spins around so that Red can get a look at what's about to happen. He cradles Rey's neck and drops down with the Schwein (Kryptonite Krunch)! Rey is left spread-eagled as CIMA sits in front of him laughing. Red runs down the aisle and slides into the ring, eager to fight with CIMA, but CIMA rolls out of the ring and retreats up the aisle. He shakes his head and laughs again while Red checks on Rey. We then go to Kurt Angle in the back.)

KA: Joel Maximo. Two weeks ago, I made light of you. And why shouldn't I have? I beat your brother in like 3 minutes. You're twins, so you should wrestle about the same, right? But you wanted a piece of me, you wanted to avenge your brother. So I let you. Why should I care if you want to get your ankle snapped? As for the match itself? Exactly how I imagined it. I showed that I'm in the upper echelon of wrestlers all-time yet again. You showed you're in the middle of the pack. I had the Ankle Lock applied, that was it...until the Rock came and screwed everything up. He gave you a win. He gave confidence. He apparently gave you this title shot tonight. But he didn't give you skill. And that's what's going to kill you in the end. Because tonight, he can't save you. At WrestleRave, I made him scream. I made him cry. I beat him so badly...I humiliated him so...that he isn't here tonight. There's no one to save you. Leave your brother in the back. If you really want this title, you'll come at me one-on-one. And when you face me man-to-man, I'll snap your freaking neck. Oh it's true...it's damn true.

(Angle starts to leave, but he bumps into Edge.)

Edge: Just a warning friend. You have something I want. And I'm going to get my hands on it.

KA: Whatever. From what I hear, you have bigger problems these days. Now get out of my way. I've got a flyweight to break.

(Angle leaves as Edge turns and smirks. The camera cuts to the ring where "At the Helm" plays as Joel Maximo walks down the aisle alone. He steps through the ropes and jumps on the turnbuckle, raising his arms in the air. He got this shot by beating Angle on 7/30, albeit after the Rock hit Angle with the Rock Bottom. He's looking to make the most of his moment. "Medal" plays as the North American champion walks out. The crowd chants "You suck", but Angle ignores it and steps through the ropes. He pulls down his straps and goes nose-to-nose with Joel.)

[Joel Maximo vs. Kurt Angle]

Angle tries to lock up with Joel, but Joel keeps squirming out of the way. Joel runs up and hits Angle with a series of forearms, then whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a dropkick. Angle gets up relatively quickly, but Joel takes him back down with an armdrag. Angle gets back up and Joel hits another forearm, but Angle responds with a knee to the gut. He clubs Joel with a forearm to the back and then rams Joel's head into the turnbuckle. Joel staggers back and Angle goes for a German suplex, but Joel grabs the ropes to stop it. Angle hits him with a couple more forearms to the back and whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a back elbow. He makes a quick cover for two and both men get up. Angle punches away at Joel and forces him into the ropes, hitting him with another knee to double him over. Angle whips Joel into the ropes, but Joel comes back with a flying forearm. Angle staggers to his feet, but Joel catches him with an enzuigiri. He rolls him over and gets two. Joel slams Angle to the mat and climbs to the top rope. He jumps off with a moonsault, but Angle gets his knees up. Joel bounces up and Angle is there with a waistlock suplex. Joel holds his head as Angle catches his breath. Angle brings Joel up to his feet and whips him into the corner, then follows in with a lariat. He whips Joel into the other corner and follows in again, but Joel gets his foot up. Joel knocks Angle down with a lariat, then covers for two. He pleads with the ref for three, but then brings Angle to his feet. Angle hits a couple forearms, but Joel backs away and pelts Angle with some kicks to the thigh. Angle goes down to one knee and Joel knocks him down with a thrust kick to the chest, then jumps onto the middle rope and comes back with a springboard moonsault, which connects. He hooks the leg, but Angle gets his shoulder up for the near fall. Angle struggles to regain his bearings, and Joel goes after him with some forearms to the back. Angle responds with an elbow to the gut to keel him over and follows with a European uppercut. Joel goes down, but gets back up quickly. However, that allows Angle to pop him with a kneelift, knocking him down hard. Angle brings Joel up and whips him into the corner, but Joel springs up the turnbuckles and jumps back with a moonsault bodyblock. Unfortunately, Angle moves out of the way and Joel hits the mat. Angle brings Joel up and hits him with one German suplex...then keeps his hands locked and hits a second. He brings him up for a third, but changes his mind and lets him go before grabbing him again to deliver the Angle Slam. He hooks the leg for three.

Kurt Angle pinned Joel Maximo with the Angle Slam in 0:09:23.
Rating: *** 3/4

(Angle was just too much for Joel tonight and showed why he is the North American champion. Jose runs down the aisle and shields his brother from any more attacks from Angle. Angle waives him off and starts to leave the ring when Tully Blanchard appears on the newly bought HugoTron 1650.)

TB: Congratulations Kurt on your title defense. I shouldn't have expected any different. But I was thinking about how it was a little unfair that I hadn't told you your match for WrestleRave until a couple weeks before the event.

(Angle nods.)

TB: So, I'll announce the main event for the next GWA pay-per-view, Fallout, right now. Next week, we will hold a contract signing for the North American Title match between the champion, Kurt Angle and the number-one contender...

(Angle leans forward a little.)

TB: ...TAZ!

(Angle throws a tantrum as the camera cuts to Christopher Daniels taping his wrists. He smiles and says "It's showtime" before leaving. The camera cuts to Low Ki, who is crouched. He pounds his fists on the floor and then leaves the room. Daniels vs. Low Ki is next!)

(After the break, "Head Like a Hole" plays as Christopher Daniels walks to the entryway, followed by Elix Skipper. Daniels prays as he walks down the aisle, but Skipper stays at the top of the ramp. Daniels turns and looks at Skipper, then shrugs and steps through the ropes. He takes off his hood as "Burning Angel" plays, bringing out Low Ki. Ki walks out and glances at Skipper, then slaps the ramp and walks down the aisle. He steps through the ropes and stretches as Skipper finally makes his way down to ringside. Triple X has fallen apart tonight due partially to what happened at WrestleRave and partially due to the ego of Christopher Daniels. Both men are now out to beat each other into submission.)

[Christopher Daniels (w/Elix Skipper) vs. Low Ki (w/Elix Skipper)]

Daniels and Ki start out by trading chops and forearms. Ki gets the better of that exchange and pushes Daniels back into the ropes before going to town with some chops and open hand slaps. Daniels screams out in pain, but Ki hits him with a few knees to the gut and pushes him into the corner. He charges in, but Daniels gets his foot up to stagger him. Daniels takes a breather on the outside of the ring, but Ki follows him out. He almost reaches Daniels when Daniels screams and runs away. He slides back into the ring as Ki follows, but Daniels drops a double-axhandle on him. He gets up and stomps at him repeatedly and then bring Ki to his feet. He staggers him with a headbutt and then grabs him. He goes for an STO, but Ki hits him with a couple elbows to the head to break free. He runs into the ropes and devastates Daniels with a Yakuza kick that turns him inside out. He makes the cover, but Daniels kicks out at two. Ki gets up and looks at the crowd as Daniels struggles to his feet. He then whacks him with a series of kicks to the thigh to put him down to one knee. Daniels, however, sweeps Ki and makes a cover for a one count. Both men start to get up, but Ki reaches his feet first and blasts Daniels in the face with a dropkick. Daniels tips over and Ki covers for two. Ki brings Daniels up to his knees and then hits him with a few Mongolian chops. Daniels responds with a forearm to the chest and Ki comes back with a kick to the head. Ki brings Daniels up and shoves him into the corner before going to work with a series of kicks. He whips Daniels into the other corner and follows in, but Daniels sidesteps the charge and shoves him into the corner. Ki staggers out and Daniels brings him down with a back suplex. He holds his head as he gets to his feet, then stomps on Ki before bringing him up and throwing him outside the ring at Skipper's feet. Daniels distracts the referee, and Skipper picks Low Ki up...and rolls him back in the ring. Daniels looks at Skipper questioningly, then brings Ki up and whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a lariat. He makes a cover, but only gets two.

Daniels argues with the ref for a couple seconds, then resumes punching away at Low Ki's head. He brings Ki to his feet and rams his head into the turnbuckle. He hits a couple more punches, then takes a few steps back. He charges in with a leg lariat, but Ki moves out of the way and Daniels lands hard on his back. Ki brings Daniels up and pops him with a forearm to knock him out of the ring. Ki follows him out and slams his head into the guardrail. He starts to do it again, but Skipper gets in his way. They argue a little and Ki kicks Daniels in the face again. Daniels tries to get away, but Ki slaps him hard in the back, then rolls him back in the ring. He reenters the ring and waits for Daniels to rise, then swings a massive thrust kick that Daniels ducks. Ki spins around and Daniels kicks him in the midsection, then hooks both arms to go for the Angel's Wings. However, Ki backdrops his way out of it. Daniels gets up slowly and Ki pops him in the head with a thrust kick, sending Daniels crumpling to the mat. Ki covers, hooking the leg, but Daniels still gets out for the near fall. Ki brings Daniels up and whips him into the ropes, but Daniels reverses it and hits a jumping elbow thrust to buy himself some time. Daniels waits for Ki to get up, then drives him down with an STO. He walks over to the corner and hits the Best Moonsault Ever! He hooks the leg, but Ki kicks out! Daniels is in shock and argues with the ref again, who says that it was only a two count. Daniels waves him off and brings Ki up, but Ki pops him in the face with a koppo kick. Daniels goes down to one knee and Ki lifts him up and runs into the corner, delivering the Krush Rush. Daniels flops to the mat and Ki quickly covers, but Daniels gets his foot on the bottom rope to break up the count. Ki covers again, this time hooking the leg, but Daniels has had enough time to recover and kicks out.

Ki brings Daniels up to his feet and whips him into the corner. He then jumps in the air and pops with the Tidal Crush! Daniels falls forward and Ki rolls him over and covers, but Daniels somehow gets his shoulder up. Ki keeps up his attack on the head and neck by kicking Daniels repeatedly in the head with quick kicks. Daniels rolls over, clearly dazed as Ki looks for the knockout blow. Daniels gets to his feet and Ki kicks him in the midsection before lifting him up for the Ki Krusher. However, Daniels grasps the ropes and doesn't allow Ki to hit it. Low Ki drops him and starts to attack him again, but Daniels rakes him in the eyes and quickly hits a legsweep faceslam. He immediately moves into the Koji Clutch! Ki is in agony, but he won't give up. He slowly crawls to the ropes and drags Daniels with him and he finally reaches them. Daniels lets go after a few seconds and brings Ki up for the Last Rites. He attempts it, but Ki rolls through and kicks Daniels in the face. Daniels is staggered as Ki jumps on the middle rope and comes back with a springboard thrust kick to knock him down. Ki decides to climb to the top rope, presumably for a Stardust Press, as the ref checks on Daniels. Ki psyches himself up for the move, but Skipper quickly jumps on the apron and knocks him off the top rope with a forearm! Ki lands on the mat hard and both men are down. Both men get up slowly, but neither is in good shape. Daniels lifts Ki onto his shoulders before dropping him down so he's in position for the Last Rites. Ki tries to block the move, but Daniels knees him in the back and then hits his finisher. He rolls Ki over and gets the three.

Christopher Daniels pinned Low Ki with the Last Rites in 0:15:03.
Rating: **** 3/4
[Elix Skipper interfered against Low Ki.]

(And Daniels gets the win after Elix Skipper stabs Low Ki in the back! Daniels is not in great shape and takes some time getting up. Skipper gets a mic and enters the ring, standing over Low Ki.)

ES: Sorry homey, but I'm gonna stay on the winning side. Nothing personal.

(Daniels walks over and gets the mic from Skipper.)

CD: That's right Low Ki. You don't measure up to me! And Elix's a smart man. In the end, I'll be the one with my arm raised. I'll be the one who's on top. The only question Elix...is why the hell would I need you?

(Elix gives him a questioning look, but Daniels immediately pops him in the face with the mic. Skipper hits the mat hard, but Daniels brings him up and hooks both arms before driving him to the mat with the Angel's Wings! Daniels stands over Skipper and Ki and raises the mic above his head.)

CD: That's right kiddies: Triple X is over!

(Daniels poses as the camera fades.)

GWA Press Release

With WrestleRave behind us, Commissioner Tully Blanchard has released the updated contender lists:

North American Title:
Champion: Kurt Angle
1) Taz
2) Chris Benoit
3) Christopher Daniels
4) Edge
5) The Rock

Taz becomes the #1 contender by virtue of his win over Christopher Daniels at WrestleRave. Edge and Benoit move up mainly by default and the Rock moves down four spots after losing twice at the hands of Kurt Angle. There are a number of men just outside this contender list, including CIMA, Red and Chris Jericho.

Tag Team Titles:
Champions: Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock
1) AJ Styles and Christian
2) Mexico's Most Wanted
3) The Spanish Announce Team
4) The Young Lions
5) The Havana Pitbulls

By winning the triangle match at WrestleRave, Styles and Christian regain the #1 contendership. Mexico's Most Wanted doesn't fall far. The Havana Pitbulls have been making waves in their short stay in the GWA and appear to be a fast moving team.

Cruiserweight Title:
Champion: The Amazing Red
1) CIMA
2) Christopher Daniels
3) Christian York
4) Chavo Guerrero Jr.
5) Spanky

CIMA gets the #1 contendership by beating Quiet Storm at WrestleRave and Rey Misterio Jr. on Ground Zero. Daniels hasn't done much in the Cruiserweight division in the past month, so he maintains his position. Chavo Guerrero Jr. moves up to fourth with his recent winning streak.

In other news, Low Ki has decided to take some time off from the GWA. In his mind, if he couldn't beat Christopher Daniels, interference or no interference, something is wrong with him. Therefore, he wants to take some time away and figure out what it is.

Rey Misterio Jr. was offered a lucrative deal in Mexico and has decided to accept it.

The GWA wishes both men luck with their future endeavors, and would gladly welcome them back at any point.

Tune in next week on Ground Zero, when Kurt Angle and Taz will sign the contract for their match at GWA Fallout on September 18th. Also, the Dynasty will face Chris Benoit, Ken Shamrock, and two partners. All this and much more on Saturday!
