Cincinnati Pro Maximum Impact II - 6/9/06

VertigoPosted on 08/24/05 at 15:49:49

Cincinnati Pro presents Maximum Impact II
Friday, June 9, 2006
Bell Time: 8:00 p.m.
Place: Wilmington, OH

(The camera opens up right behind the curtain leading to the ring. The Cannonball Busters consisting of Vader, Val Venis, & Mike Awesome are standing there. Christopher Nowinski is there as well... but we have no official word on whether or not he a certified Cannonball Buster.)

Vader: Before you go out Val, I just wanted to say a little something. Tonight is EXTREMELY important to The Cannonball Busters. Two weeks ago in Dayton, Ohio we suffered a HUGE loss in that 12-Man Tag Team Match. Granted none of us were pinned... and El Dandy & Damian 666 will get theirs in due time... but it still goes on OUR records as a loss. We came into Cincinnati Pro running our mouths because we KNEW we could back it up. And now we look like fools...

(Venis & Awesome nod in agreement as Vader looks over the group. Nowinski looks around at the group... hesitant to get too close to any of them... mainly because if they wanted to, they could probably beat his ass and end his career right there in the corridor.)

Vader: Val... tonight... you take care of Tommy Dreamer. He was the main reason we lost in Dayton. Apparently the guy can't take any constructive criticism. So Val... I don't want him leaving the building tonight on his own will. You get it across to him that NO ONE interferes in The Cannonball Busters' business. As for you Awesome... I want you and Nowinski to go out there together... and take out two guys that were on the team that beat us in Dayton. You've got Ahmed Johnson & Akitoshi Saito. These guys are tough... but you guys are... well, Awesome... you're tougher than both of those guys combined. So the two of you should have no problem defeating those guys. As for me, I'm defending my Top Contendorship. This is perhaps the most important match for us tonight. If I don't retain that Top Contendorship, I won't have a chance to take that Tri-State Heavyweight Championship from Matt Stryker... and we also lose any hope of getting any REAL power in Cincinnati Pro.

(The ring announcer has finished welcoming everyone and Val's music begins playing. The Cannonball Busters hit fists and depart. Venis walks through the curtain for our opening contest...)

The Cannonball Busters start out the night on a good note as Venis is victorious in the opening match with Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer started the match off strong wanting to get at Venis is the worst way. Venis tried avoiding him as much as possible by powdering to the floor and just trying to get into Dreamer's head a little bit, but eventually he had to face Dreamer. Dreamer had so much rage built up in him that he was going at Venis strong and fast and in the process, he wasn't pacing himself and he started running out of gas real quick. That's when Val saw his opening and really started slowing The Innovator of Violence down. Venis worked the abdominal stretch a lot in this bout as an injury to the midsection would make it that much harder for Dreamer to get his breath back. When Venis felt it was time to put Dreamer away, Dreamer showed some life with some nice counters and getting a near fall. However, Venis reapplied the abdominal stretch and then dumped Dreamer to the floor where Dreamer was unable to reach it back into the ring by the 10 count. The fans didn't like the ending to the match at all, but Venis smiled in the ring. A win is a win as far as Venis is concerned and if the fans didn't like it then oh well.

Rating: *** 1/4

George Hines makes his debut this evening in a match against Hardcore Holly. Hines was a regular gaijen with All Japan Pro Wrestling for awhile and hopes now to make the same impact, if not a bigger one, on U.S. soil. It doesn't come without a price though... and Hardcore made him pay that price. Holly beat up Hines from pillar to post, busted him open, and even legdropped him through a table. However... Hines has been on the recieving end on quite a few beating in Japan. He used to getting the crap beat out of him and then continued to fight and kicking the crap out of his opponent. So he took Hardcore's best shots and continued to fight back. The crowd was getting behind him and even getting behind Hardcore. They were loving this match. Hardcore finally put him away with the Alabama Slam, but both wrestlers recieved a good ovation for the match afterwards.

[Triangle Match]
Jimmy Jacobs defeated Shaggy 2 Dope and Kaz Hayashi when J. Jacobs pinned Shaggy with the Contra Code in 0:14:57.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Kimona interfered against Jimmy Jacobs.]

Shaggy 2 Dope and Kaz Hayashi have primarily been involved in tag team matches here in Cincinnati Pro whereas Jimmy Jacobs has been thrown in and out of tag team matches just looking for his place. All three of these guys put in a hell of an effort. Jacobs and Shaggy beat up on Hayashi for most of the match but they never lost sight of the fact that this was a Triangle Match and not a handicapped match. Hayashi started making a comeback though and started unloading with flying maneuvers and getting near falls on both competitors. Shaggy eventually cut him back off and set him to the floor with a big clothesline. Jacobs, seeing an opportunity, took advantage of Shaggy and exploded with a series of signature moves leading to... the CONTRA CODE! Jacobs finally scores a win! The fans applauded appreciatively, but Jacobs was ecstatic! Could this be the start of something... or just a one time occurance?

(Backstage The Patriot is walking through a corridor. He enters a locker room where Hardcore Holly is unlacing his boots...)

The Patriot: Hey Hardcore. That was a hell of a match you had out there tonight. George Hines is a tough competitor... I've been in the ring with him. You definatly left him with a lasting impression of Cincinnati Pro.

Hardcore Holly: Yeah. Well, I'm just here to do my job. Since kicking ass is my job, Hines got his ass kicked. I'll give him some credit though... he did take some solid shots from me and stayed with it.

The Patriot: You know... you've been overlooked your entire career. I've been given the opportunity to wrestle for a chance at the Tag Team Championship. After seeing your match tonight and the intensity you have in you, I think you would be an ideal partner for me. Together I know we can prevail...

Hardcore Holly: Save it, Patriot. I'm all for whooping some more ass. You don't need to feed me any lines. I'll do it. Just remember... you do your part and I will do mine.

(The two just look at each and then shake hands... )

Christopher Nowinski and Mike Awesome defeated Vicious & Delicious & Friends (Ahmed Johnson and Akitoshi Saito) when Awesome defeated A. Johnson by disqualification in 0:05:16.
Rating: * 1/4

The leader of The Cannonball Busters, Vader, ordered Awesome & Nowinski into this match. Awesome wasn't pleased with the order because Nowinski is not an official Cannonball Buster and he felt that Nowinski is unreliable. During the match, Nowinski was having a bit of trouble with Ahmed & Saito. Awesome found himself attacking both of opponents when Nowinski was hurt. Nowinski was finally getting things back together after Awesome had floor Ahmed and was about to deliver a clothesline, but Ahmed pulled referee Tommy Schalk in and Schalk went down! Finally, about a minute later, referee Larry Crotch made his way to the ring to referee the bout but not long after, Tommy Schalk regained consciousness and disqualified Ahmed Johnson for his actions. So Awesome & Nowinski won by disqualification, but that's not really what Vader wanted to happen. Vader wanted these two guys to win decisively and prove a point.

Rating: **

The Patriot & Hardcore Holly started off strong, but maybe a little too strong. Seeing as how they were dominating in the opening of the match, that made them big targets for all three teams as the other teams saw them as possibly the biggest threat in the match. Somewhere in the middle of the match, Kimona came to ringside grabbed Becky Bayless, The Elite's manager, by the hair. Bayless responded by pulling Kimona's hair and they both fell to the ground. The Jung Dragons, who are managed by Kimona, came rushing to the ring to pull Kimona off of Bayless. Otsuka & Abercrombie jumped to the floor and pulled Bayless away as well. Kimona & Bayless have had their problems with each other lately and The Jung Dragons have been looking to get a victory over The Elite for some time. Just as it looked like it was about to explode, Damian 666 hit a huge Top Con Hilo onto Otsuka, Abercrombie, AND Becky! The Jung Dragons dragged Kimona back to the locker room. The match would continue eventually ending after Damian KO'd Bagwell with a DDT onto a chair followed with a moonsault! The other teams couldn't make the save and El Dandy & Damian 666 will recieve a Tag Team Championship match TONIGHT! Becky stormed off to the locker room followed by Otsuka & Abercrombie who both looked pretty pissed as well. Hardcore Holly & The Patriot recieved applause from the fans for their efforts as a team.

The winner is Ken Shamrock. Time of match: 0:01:32

Ken Shamrock pinned John Kronus after a Frankensteiner in 0:01:32.
Rating: ** 1/4

This was Shamrock's official match under contract with CP. Kronus had the upper hand in the opening moments, but quickly got too full himself. As he took his time, Shamrock was plotting his moves. After a leg hammerlock which saw Kronus frantically fighting to reach the ropes and a Frankensteiner which nearly got the pinfall, Shamrock avoided a back heel kick, used another Frankensteiner, and was able to keep Kronus's shoulders down for the three count. A very strong showing by Shamrock and as for Kronus... after feeling that leg hammerlock he didn't want much to do with Shamrock.

(Dean Malenko comes to the ring prepared to wrestle his match against rival Johnny Smith. He climbs in and removes his ring jacket. Johnny Smith's music plays. Smith walks through the curtain... slowly... and WEARING A NECK BRACE?! What is this?! The fans give Smith a tongue lashing as he walks around ringside. He gets the microphone from the ring announcer. He winces in pain, holding his neck... he waits for the crowd to quiet down...)

Johnny Smith: Fans, fans... I know what you're thinking... "Poor, poor Johnny. He's in a neckbrace and Cincinnati Pro still makes him come out here... " (crowd boos) Trust me, I'm thinking the same thing. You see, one month ago at Second Encounter I was disqualified for putting my hands on the official. Some go so far as to say I knocked him out... but that's a lie! I injured my neck during the match and told the referee to please stop the match for my sake, but he refused! (crowd boos) I'm telling you... there is a conspiracy against me! (more booing) And last week, Malenko had you believe that I was 'scared' to face him? And that I had no-showed? No, no, no... I was laid up in a hospital awaiting permission to get in the ring again. They insisted that I take some time off to let my neck heal.

(The crowd is starting to get on Smith's case questioning the legitimacy of his injury. Smith begins walking up the ring steps, but it takes awhile as he appear to be in a bit of pain and he keeps on hand on his neck brace the whole time. When he finally gets through the ropes and into the ring, he approaches Malenko who looks like he isn't believing a thing Smith is saying...)

Johnny Smith: Dean... friend... (boos) I apologize for my injured neck. The CP committee has my doctor's note in their posession. I cannot, under any circumstances, wrestle you tonight. I extend my hand with the hopes that you will accept this apology...

(Malenko looks around at the crowd is telling him not to shake Smith's hand. Malenko begins extending his hand... but then quickly snatches the microphone away from Smith... Smith is startled and jumps back... then holds his neck... )

Dean Malenko: Johnny Smith... you ducked me once by getting yourself disqualified... you ducked me a second time by not even showing up for the match. You will NOT duck me a third time! (crowd cheers) Injured neck or not, you will face me right here.. RIGHT NOW!

(Malenko slams the microphone down. Smith is backing up into a corner as Malenko is stalking him ready to attack. Smith is pleading with Malenko. Out of nowhere, what appears to be a crazed fan, jumps the guardrail, enters the ring and nails Malenko from behind. Malenko goes head first through the ropes and to the floor. He is dazed on the outside. Security begins climbing in the ring, but Smith quickly grabs the microphone and tells them to hold on for a second. The crazed fan is standing in the center of the ring. He has a hooded sweatshirt on with the hood pulled over his head and track pants on... )

Johnny Smith: Dean Malenko... Cincinnati Pro... I give to you...

(The crazed fan throws the hood back... the crowd erupts... Malenko, who is slowly climbing onto the ring apron stops in disbelief... )

Johnny Smith: WILLIAM REGAL!! (the crowd cheers louder) Now... Malenko... since you look like you're ready for a fight... (he tosses the microphone to Malenko)

Dean Malenko: You are only delaying the inevitable, Johnny. I will get my hands on you... but Regal... tonight, I make you tap out!

(A referee hits the ring to start the match. Johnny Smith takes his time getting out of the ring. Regal snaps his track pants off and is in his traditional wrestling gear... here we go!)

Rating: * 1/2
[Johnny Smith interfered against Dean Malenko.]

The fans in the arena were expecting to see a fight after what happening just moments before this impromptu match began. They saw a fight, but not a typical fight. This wasn't a brawl... but Malenko and Regal were fighting how they would really fight... and that's on the mat. No closed fists, no kicks... just wrestling. That is until Smith cracked Malenko in the back with a chair! We thought his neck was hurt!? Of course he started holding his neck after swinging the chair, but it didn't seem to effect the force in which he swung the chair! After that Malenko had a hard time recovering. He was hurt and was giving his body up too easily as Regal was able to lock in some submissions which included a LONG Fujiwara armbar. Malenko made a small comeback, but Regal stopped all that with his trademark arm trap shoulder neckbreaker and followed it up with an elbowdrop for the win.

(Following the match, Smith climbed into the ring and began putting the boots to Malenko. Malenko was finally able to roll out of the ring and away from Smith. Regal & Smith posed together in the ring. Smith, realizing he's 'injured.' begins holding his neck and whincing in pain again. How legit could his injury possibly be? But the fact that Cincinnati Pro has such a future legend as William Regal is absolutely incredible! It's too bad he's sided with possibly one of the most cowardly wrestlers currently under contract... WAIT!! As the two are posing, TOMMY DREAMER runs down the aisle! The fans are glad to see him. He slides in the ring, but Smith & Regal have bailed to the floor and are heading to the back. Dreamer then goes outside of the ring to check on Malenko who appears to be okay, just a little out of it. Dreamer helps him to the back.)

Rating: *** 1/2
[Matt Stryker interfered against Vader.]

Looking at the participants in this match, there is definatly a lot of beef in that ring. While Doink The Clown is no cruiserweight, he still looked rather small compared to his three opponents in this match. Vader was out there to make a point... and that point is that he is THE MAN! Vader was in the ring the majority of the match and was really taking it to everyone rarely ever giving an inch. He matched strikes with A-Train and matched power with Mark Henry. Doink The Clown, who has been extremely aggressive since signing on with CP, went at Vader as aggressive as possible, but Vader matched him in that as well. Let's just say it... Vader is a BEAST! And a BIG threat to the CP Tri-State Heavyweight Champion, Matt Stryker. Coming into this match Vader was the Top Contendor for that title. Matt Stryker came to ringside to make sure it didn't remain that way. When this happened, the other three competitors were finally able to get an advantage over Vader. Then the match broke down into a 4-Way brawl! Henry and A-Train were brawling on the floor as Doink tried putting away Vader. Even after getting beat up and taking Doink's Whoopie Cushion off the top rope, Vader still kicked out.. on ONE no less. But remember, Doink is puny compared to Vader. After that, Doink DDT'd the ref. What did I tell you about him being aggressive? After blowing himself trying to get Vader to submit in a half Boston, Doink tagged out... as if it mattered. Henry came in the ring and hit a HUGE ring-shaking Running Powerslam. The referee came to just in time and counted 3! All 4 competitors were completely tired and could hardly move.

(Stryker & Becky celebrated Vader's loss on the outside. Vader slowly got to his feet and then exited the ring. He charged Stryker & Bayless who were now running back down the aisle. As they reached the curtain, Alexander Ostuka came through a nailed Vader in the head with a steel chair. Vader was out cold. Stryker, Otsuka, & Becky left. Christopher Nowinski was the first to come out and check on Vader, followed by Mike Awesome & Val Venis. Vader has been KO'd by Otsuka! By this time, A-Train exited through the crowd and all of The Elite actually left the building. Well, Mark Henry is the new Top Contendor for Matt Stryker's Tri-State Heavyweight Championship. What can we now expect from Vader after this evening events?)

The winner is Tazz. Time of match: 0:08:28

Tazz defeated Hayabusa when Hayabusa passed out in the Tazmission in 0:08:28.
Rating: **** 1/4

Tazz comes into this match with a big pinfall win in the 12-Man Tag Team Match two weeks ago while Hayabusa hasn't been at his best lately. These two met each other in the ring for the first time one month ago at Second Encounter but that was a Four Corners Match, which neither of them won. Now is the time to find out which of the two is the better man, or at least on this night. Tazz seems to have returned to his ECW-style as he took it to Hayabusa harder and more aggressive than we've seen from him in YEARS! Hayabusa stayed toe-to-toe with him as the ECW was much like his FMW style and this made for a classic late '90's hardcore match! In the end it was the dreaded Tazzmission that ended it. Hayabusa had too much pride to allow himself to tap out so rather than doing that, he was choked unconscious. The referee had to end it there. Tazz is victorious!

(Chris Hero and Devon Storm retained the CP Tag Team Championship)

What a fight this was. Damian & Dandy came into this match excited and ready to go. Hero & Storm worked well as a team. It is definatly apparent that they have been working things out before hand and are now really looking well together in the ring. Quick tags in and out allowed Hero & Storm to keep the momentum in their favor in the beginning of the match. Damian & Dandy never really slowed them down, but instead stepped it up on a notch and really started taking the fight to the champs. They took the fight to them so hard that they forgot the referee was counting while they were on the outside. Damian and Hero were really taking it to each other on the floor. Damian even hit his finisher, the Valagueza, from the top rope all the way to the concrete below! The fans were on edge! Damian was busted open, but was determined to put Hero through a table before the match was over. He did it with a moonsault, but just as the referee counted to 10. A double countout! The champs retain! All four wrestlers recieved a good ovation for the match. They shook hands in the ring. Dandy & Damian left ringside first. Then the champs left...

(Still Tag Team Champions, Chris Hero & Devon Storm high five the fans as they exit ringside. As they walk through the curtain, who else to greet them but Ken Shamrock... )

Ken Shamrock: Congratulations you two. It's good to see you guys can work well with as a team?

Chris Hero: What do you want Shamrock?

Ken Shamrock: Alright Hero. I'll cut right to it. Remember 4 months ago at Collision Course when I defeated you and Chris Leben in a tag team match? Well... I couldn't capitalize on that since I wasn't under contract... but now that I am... I'm interested in a Tag Team Championship Match.

Chris Hero: Shamrock, you're a very good fighter and an excellent wrestler. You have proven that to me and there is popular belief that you are the reason Chris Leben left professional wrestling. Whether it was gift or not, Leben was supposed to be my partner the night me and Devon won these Tag Team Championship belts. Yes, Ken Shamrock, you deserve a shot at these belts. I will give it to you. Same partner as four months ago?

Ken Shamrock: Who, Alexander Otsuka? While we may have won that match, we've never gotten along. Our match with you and Leben was only because we had similar goals. Right now I think he has bigger problems to worry about. I've seen some good talent here in Cincinnati Pro and the committee has required that if you did accept this challenge that I would need to choose from a wrestler already under contract. So I was watching closely... I choose The Patriot as my partner... we go back...

Chris Hero: So be it. In two weeks... you and The Patriot against me and Devon... Tag Team Championship on the line.

(Shamrock extends his hand and shakes Hero's. He then extends to Devon who looks absolutely confused but shakes Shamrock's hand anyway. The champs walk away and Shamrock walks in the other direction.... Devon says something to Hero...)

Devon Storm: Uh... Chris?

Chris Hero: Yeah?

Devon Storm: Ken Shamrock is an ultimate fighter... and The Patriot is like 10 of me...

Chris Hero: And?

Devon Storm: And!? And I'm no where near as good as them!!

Chris Hero: Look... I've brought you this far... you're a champion in one of the fastest growing indy promotions going today. We'll get you prepared. You'll be ready.

Devon Storm: In two weeks?

Chris Hero: Yes.... I hope....

Last Updated June 16, 2006

What an unbelievable event we had last week with Maximum Impact II! The Boone County Fairgounds were sold out and the fans in attendance could not have been more pleased with the event. And now we move on to next Saturday... we're back where it all began in Hamilton, OH to bring to you THE NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS!

"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry won the Top Contendors match last week against Vader and therefore will recieve a rematch with Matt Stryker for the Tri-State Heavyweight Championship. However, this is not the only time these two will meet on this night. The Elite have been having problems with The Jung Dragons and they want to settle it. So, in Six-Man-Tag Team action, The Jung Dragons will team up with Mark Henry to face The Elite members Matt Stryker, A-Train, & Josh Abercrombie!

So what about The Elite's fourth member, Alexander Otsuka? Otsuka will go after the Top Contendorship in a match against VADER! Last week Otsuka laid Vader out with a chair. We have never seen Vader knocked completely out, but Otsuka did. And Vader wants nothing more to get the Top Contendorship back. Count on this match to be BRUTAL!

Ken Shamrock made a challenge to the Tag Team Champions, Chris Hero & Devon Storm, last week for the titles. Shamrock has chosen The Patriot to his partner. The Tag Team Championship will be on the line. When we confronted Devon Storm about the match, he didn't have much to say, but he didn't seem very confident about the champions chances.

Johnny Smith has gained the partnership of a future legend in this business in William Regal. Together they gave Malenko a hard time last week. It seems Malenko's only ally is Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer stuck up for Malenko when Smith & Regal were adding insult to injury to Malenko last week. A tag team match has been signed as Malenko & Dreamer will take on Smith & Regal!

A HUGE Tag Team Battle Royal has been signed for next Saturday night. The teams are as follows: Jimmy Jacobs & Pablo Marquez, Vicious & Delicious, El Dandy & Damian 666, the Insane Clown Posse, Mike Awesome & Christopher Nowinski, & The Eliminators! That's right... John Kronus has convinced CP to sign Perry Saturn and The Eliminators will be reunited next Saturday night! Mike Awesome, once again, is not too pleased with having to be teamed up with Christopher Nowinski, but The Cannonball Busters leader, Vader, has insisted on it.

All of this and more next Saturday night, 8 p.m., in Hamilton, OH for The Night of Champions!
