This was such a good opener. On paper this match could have been the least expected of the evening but the effort that these guys put into this match truely showed when it was all said and done. These guys went back to the basics in the beginning just feeling each other out. Doink hasn't been in any real competitive wrestling in the past few years, but he never really changed his style in all those years. However, Doink must really want to make something of this comeback to professional wrestling because the things he was doing in the ring surprised a lot of people. He was still clowning around and he was still a basic wrestler, but he was more focused than ever. He must have watched tapes to know The Patriot's biggest weakness is submission holds because Doink, not much of a submission wrestler, stayed on The Patriot applying submission after submission. In the end, doink wore down The Patriot enough to hit his patented Whoopie Cushion off the top for the win.

Rating: ** 1/2

The ICP came out to a round of boos as usual. The few juggalos in the crowd were solely behind them, though. Jacobs & Marquez came out to applause, but it seemed almost like a pity applause. These two guys haven't been too successful lately... in fact... I don't think either of them have won a match in CP. Jacobs had high expectations coming from the IWA:MS stemming from the fued between that promotion and CP, but he hasn't been able to find a groove yet. Anyhow, ICP had control for most of the match mainly working over Jacobs. The hot tag was made and Marquez came in the ring, but both ICP were waiting on him. He went for a crucifix pin on Violent J getting a two count, but the shoving the official. The official shoved him back almost getting Marquez into trouble, but he got out of it momentarily and went for another quick pin, this time on Shaggy 2 Dope. Marquez is predictable in the ring, however, and Shaggy soon stopped him in his tracks and put him away with the 2 Dope legdrop from the top rope.

Rating: * 3/4
[Becky Bayless interfered against Hayabusa.]

A-Train wanted this match as a "warmup" for his later Triple Threat match. Many people thought this was a big mistake on his part as Hayabusa is much more than a "warmup". Hayabusa came at A-Train fast in the beginning using his lightning quickness to confuse A-Train. Becky Bayless was shouting from ringside for A-Train to get his bearings, but Hayabusa wouldn't let up. Finally A-Train was able to catch Hayabusa and cut him off with a sidewalk slam. This lead to a series of power moves and an assortment of kicks. Hayabusa continued fighting and regained some momentum. He threw A-Train to the floor and went for it all with a springboard corkscrew plancha. Unfortunatly for Hayabusa, A-Train moved out of the way and Hayabusa hit nothing but the cold, hard concrete floor below knocking himself silly. A-Train threw Hayabusa into the guardrail for good measure, but Hayabusa was so out of it already. Hayabusa could not reach the official's count and A-Train was awarded victory via countout.

Devon Storm pinned Hardcore Holly with the Thunderclap Brainbuster in 0:07:43.
Rating: ** 1/2

Devon Storm's Tag Team Champion partner Chris Hero got this match for Storm. He thinks Storm needed to be toughened up because so far, he hasn't been much of a wrestler in CP and winning the Tag Team Championship with Hero was just a lucky break for him. Hero wanted Holly to beat the crap out of Storm and at the same time he wanted Storm to not give up and keep fighting Holly and win no matter what. So... in this match... Hardcore Holly beat the crap out of Devon Storm... punches, kicks, slams, chokes, and even hit him with a road sign a few times. And Devon Storm... he never quit. He never backed away. He took so much from Hardcore Holly and refused to stay down. This surprised not only Holly but a lot of other people in the building that night. Storm finally got an opening and out of desperation he hit a slingshot facebuster. The fans were getting behind Storm and he was gaining momentum leading up to the Thunderclap Brainbuster which put Holly down for the three count. Chris Hero came to the ring afterwards and helped Storm to his feet. The crowd was giving Storm a round of applause when Alexander Otsuka & Josh Abercrombie, former Tag Team Champions, hit the ring....

(Members of The Elite and former CP Tag Team Champions Alexander Otsuka & Josh Abercrombie have hit the ring! Becky Bayless isn't far behind and she's barking orders at her men. Hero & Storm didn't even see them coming and now they are getting beat down by Otsuka & Abercrombie. Even Hardcore Holly isn't safe from this vicious assault as he takes a few shots from Otsuka before getting tossed to the floor. Abercrombie has Hero isolated in the corner as Otsuka gives Storm a huge German suplex. Then a double team effort on Hero in the corner...

The Jung Dragons, Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang have hit the ring!! Kimona is out there also and she's chasing Becky Bayless around the ring! The Jung Dragons & The Elite members are brawling in the ring! Jimmy Yang & Josh Abercrombie spill to the floor still brawling. Becky Bayless slides in the ring in an attempt to escape Kimona, but Kimona catches her in the ring and gets on top her! CAT FIGHT!! Otsuka gets the upper hand on Hayashi in the ring... this gives Otsuka some time to pull Kimona off of Bayless. Oh no! He's got Kimona in a waistlock and it appears he's going to German suplex her as well! Luckily, Hayashi makes the save! Kimona and Bayless both roll out of the ring and catch their breath on the floor. Storm, Hero, and Holly are all helped to the back by some officials and security. Another official slides in the ring and calls for the bell... apparently we're starting our next match...)

Rating: **** 1/4
[Kimona interfered against Alexander Otsuka.]
[Becky Bayless interfered against Kaz Hayashi.]

What a match! These two teams went back and forth the entire time! The women at ringside were even getting involved to help their teams. The Jung Dragons looked possessed here... they desperatly wanted to get a win over The Elite stable members. Kimona tried getting involved again later in the match, but Bayless pulled her down off the ring apron and threw her backwards down on the concrete. Kimona had a hard time recovering from that blow. Then Bayless made her move and tripped Hayashi. This gave Otsuka some time to recover from the dragon suplex he was just given and apply an achilles tendon hold. The referee was back to his job when Hayashi reached the ropes, but the damage to Hayashi's leg seemed apparent as he needed to use the ropes to get back to his feet. Otsuka grabbed him from behind and gave him a German suplex for the win. Otsuka rolled out of the ring and him, Abercrombie, & Bayless all retreated to the locker rooms.

(The next match is set to begin. It's the No-DQ Match. Johnny Smith's music plays first... and after a minute or so into his entrance theme he still hasn't come out. The fans are concerned. Then Malenko's theme plays and he walks to the ring set for battle. Maybe Johnny Smith just wasn't ready to come out yet. So Malenko awaits in the ring as Smith's theme plays again and once again after waiting a bit, still no Johnny Smith. Malenko gets on the microphone...)

Dean Malenko: Johnny Smith... two weeks ago at Second Encounter you dodged a bullet by getting yourself disqualified! Now tonight, you're attempting to dodge another bullet by not even showing up to face me in a No Disqualification Match?! (the fans begin booing Smith as they were looking forward to this No-DQ Match) The Cincinnati Pro committee will definatly hear from me and I'll be sure to find some way to get you in the ring to settle this...

(Malenko throws the microphone down as the fans boo. They have just been jipped out of a match tonight and they aren't too happy about it. As Malenko begins stepping out of the ring, "Man In The Box" plays over the speakers as Tommy Dreamer steps through the curtains to the delight of the fans. He makes his way to the ring and picks up the microphone.)

Tommy Dreamer: Hey Malenko. I know you've been preparing for this No-DQ Match for the past couple of weeks and I was looking forward to seeing you kick Johnny Smith's ass just as much as all these people... (the fans cheer) I would hate to see these fans leave disappointed about not seeing your No-DQ Match... so I propose you test your hardcore skills against the man that helped that style rise to the surface... you and me, Malenko.. what do you say?

(Malenko takes off his ring jacket. The fans erupt. Dreamer hands the microphone back to the ring announcer and the two wrestlers begin surfacing. A referee hits the ring and calls for the bell...)

(Johnny Smith no-showed.)

Malenko accepts Dreamer's challenge as a replacement for the no-showing Johnny Smith. We had a wild one here. Malenko started things off with an wristlock, but Dreamer soon nailed Malenko with a Death Valley Drive to officially kick off this No-DQ brawl! The two spilled to the floor in no time and Dreamer introduced a table into the equation. He attempted to legdrop Malenko through the table, but Malenko rolled off and Dreamer suffered the consequences. Smith no-showing brought out the aggressive side of Malenko and he took it out on Dreamer as they slammed each other all over the arena floor. The guardrails were in shambles by the end of this one. Going back into the ring, Malenko tried finishing Dreamer off with the Texas Cloverleaf but Malenko fought through the pain and escaped. Not long after, however, Malenko locked in one hell of a leglock and Dreamer had to submit. After the match, Malenko extends his hand to Dreamer and thanks him. Now we need to find out what's going on with Johnny Smith?!

Rating: *** 1/2

This was the special attraction match. These two have faced each other in the past in Cincinnati Pro with Shamrock winning once in one-on-one match and once in a tag team match. Now these two face each other in their specialty match, an I-Quit Match! This was everything you would expect it to be... a lot of strikes exchanged and a lot of submission attempts. The fans were getting a little restless in the beginning, but the action picked up in the end as the two were landing some fierce strikes and the intensity was building. In the end, Shamrock was able to get some good leverage and lock in the Ankle Lock Submission for the tap-out victory! Leben needed some help to the back. Shamrock celebrated in the ring a bit before leaving. There are plans by the Cincinnati Pro offices to offer Shamrock a contract with Cincinnati Pro... so we'll have to see what happens with that. As for Leben, he's been unreliable in the past and I have a feeling this is finally the last we're going to see him in CP.

(We cut to the back as Tommy Dreamer is roaming the hallway "walking off" his leg injury that he suffered from Malenko earlier in the evening. Val Venis walks by and then turns to Dreamer...)

Val Venis: Yo Dreamer... what was that out there? I thought you were The Innovator of Violence? All I saw you innovating out there was a variety of ways to get your ASS HANDED TO YOU! Look... I beat you two weeks ago with ease... and now this week Malenko made you tap out in your own environment, a No-DQ match. What happened to retiring? You left he sport a few years ago and now you want to make some kind of big comeback? Take some advice... ECW killed your dreams of being a star and there's no coming back. Unlace those boots and hang 'em up... you're done...

(Dreamer looks infuriated but he holds back. Venis smiles and pats Dreamer on the shoulder... then he walks away. Dreamer's face says a thousand words that he wants to tell Venis, his fists are clinched tight, but he keeps his cool.)

[Winner Recieves CP Tri-State Heavyweight Championship Match TONIGHT]
Mark Henry defeated A-Train and Chris Hero when M. Henry pinned A-Train after a spinebuster slam in 0:20:20.
Rating: DUD

Chris Hero looked a little out of place in this one as Mark Henry and A-Train, both much bigger than Hero, tried the whole time to outdo each other in power moves. Any chance Hero got, he would try his best to take these guys down to the mat and ware them down. He tried to fatigue the two powerhouses in the hopes of winding them enough to hit the Hero's Welcome. The fans were bored with this match, however, and they were pleased when it ended and were also pleased with the outcome. A-Train tried submitting Henry with an abdominal stretch, but Hero made the save. As the referee was getting Hero, the illegal man, out of the ring Henry hit a spinebuster slam. When the ref turned around he made the count. Hero was too late in making the save this time and Henry is victorious thus giving himself a Tri-State Heavyweight Championship Match TONIGHT!!

(Not more than 10 seconds after the bell rang after the match did Matt Stryker hit the ring and start pounding on Mark Henry. A-Train gained his senses and started in on the attack. Hero, seeing what was going on, jumped on A-Train and tossed him to the floor. Hero has had his problem with The Elite members so he had no problem helping Mark Henry defend against them here. Hero and A-Train battled all the way through the curtain and to the back. Becky Bayless made her way to ringside carrying the Tri-State Heavyweight Championship just in time to see Mark Henry fire back on the champion. Stryker was staggering near the ropes as Henry clotheslined him out of the ring. Bayless ran to Stryker as Henry asked for the microphone...)

Mark Henry: Stryker... we don't have to wait until the main event... let's do this RIGHT NOW! Bring your unibrow ass in here so I can kick it!

(Stryker slides in the ring and Henry starts hammering away on him as the referee signals for the bell and the match is on...)

(Matt Stryker retained the CP Tri-State Heavyweight Championship)
[Becky Bayless interfered against Mark Henry.]

Following the previous match, Henry lost some momentum with the fans seeing as they were a bit bored during the match. But the sight of Stryker and Bayless sent the fans into a frenzy and they found themselves cheering Mark Henry on to fight back. So Henry won the fans back as the match began and he dominated Stryker for the majority of the match. It was like the previous 20 minute match had no effect on Henry at all. Stryker is a sneaky and tough wrestler, though. He's not the CP Tri-State Heavyweight Champion for nothing. When it seemed like Henry was ready to put away Stryker to win the Championship, Stryker fought back a bit and executed a sunset flip to get the win and retain the Tri-State Heavyweight Championship. Stryker rolled out of the ring as fast as he could and hobbled into the safety of Becky Bayless' arms. He grabbed the belt from her and held it high. Henry argued with the referee briefly about the count, but it couldn't be changed. The fans booed Stryker and Bayless until they went back through the curtain. Henry may have lost this one, but he will be back to fight another day.

Rating: ** 1/2

The ring had to have been reenforced for this one! The fans were behind the team of The Cannonball Busters, but V&D&F and their partners were hell bent on winning this match. Especially Tazz as he took every opportunity to climb in the ring and beat up somebody. However, Vader did most of the beating up as he tossed around some of the guys on the other team until he met up with Scott Norton in the ring. Norton is nearly as big as Vader and these two exchanged a few blows before seperating and tagging out. Towards the end of the match, Tommy Dreamer ran down to ringside and pulled Val Venis off the ring apron. Apparently he is still a little angry at Venis's comments earlier in the evening backstage and now he's going to take it out on him! Vader, Nowinski, & Awesome weren't having any of that as they quickly jumped to Venis's rescue and tried pulling the two apart. Meanwhile in the ring, Tazz was dominating Damian with submission holds. Damian's team completely forgot about what was going on in the ring! El Dandy was hollering something in Spanish to his teammates and didn't notice Damian in the Tazzmission and Damian had to submit. A big win for V&D&F, John Kronus, and Tazz! Venis and Dreamer were finally seperated by wrestlers and officials. Vader seemed angry at the loss, but him, Venis, and Awesome walked to the back together followed by Nowinski. El Dandy helped Damian 666 to his feet and to the back. Who knows what will come out of this match when we return to live action in 2 weeks in Wilmington, Ohio.

Overall: **1/4

What a night of action we witnessed at Battlefield In Dayton! Friday night, June 9, Cincinnati Pro returns to Wilmington, OH to present Maximum Impact II. Let's get into the news and upcoming matches for that event...

The Cannonball Busters seem to have acquired the services of one "Awesome" Mike Awesome! So what's next for the newest stable in CP? Well... Vader, the current Top Contendor, will defend his Top Contendorship in a Four Corners Match. His opponents... first, Mark Henry. Henry was on a roll headed straight to the top and won a 3-Way last week in Dayton to face the Tri-State Heavyweight Champion Matt Stryker. Unfortunatly, the title match was immediatly after Henry's 3-Way victory. Therefore, Henry has been granted an opportunity at the Top Contendorship and another opportunity to possibly face Stryker again. Another participant in this match Doink The Clown! He has surprised everyone since his debut and now has been given a HUGE opportunity. Can he put all the clowning around behind him and focus on winning this match? It would mark a major point in the comeback of this legend. Finally, with The Elite's pull here in CP, A-Train has also been thrown in this match as the fourth and final participant. If A-Train wins, he will be Top Contendor, therefore ensuring that the title, win, lose, or draw against Stryker, will remain with The Elite.

Another member of The Cannonball Busters, Val Venis, will have his hands full with Tommy Dreamer. The two met one month ago in Val's debut match with Val being victorious. Then just last week, Venis had some harsh words for Dreamer in the locker room prompting Dreamer to come out during the huge 12-Man Tag and take some aggression out on Venis then and there. This would have a big effect on the outcome of the match as The Cannonball Busters' team lost due to Dreamer's major distraction. Dreamer is looking for payback and Venis is looking for revenge. This match will be intense!

Also, what's going on with Christopher Nowinski and The Cannonball Busters? There has been no official word on whether or not he is in.

The CP Tag Team Championship will be on the line in the evenings main event as Chris Hero & Devon Storm will defend their titles for the first time against the winners of a 4-Way Dance that same evening. The teams participating will Vicious & Delicious, El Dandy & Damian 666, Alexander Otsuka & Josh Abercrombie, and the last team, by luck of random drawing, will be The Partriot and a partner of his choosing. As of now we are unsure who his partner will be...

Johnny Smith no-showed last week. We are unaware of the circumstances or his whereabouts at the time... but we're hoping all will be answered at Maximum Impact II. The rematch is signed between Smith & Dean Malenko as Malenko is still seeking a clean victory over Smith.

This and so much more next Friday night at Maximum Impact II!
