Royal Ring Puroresu

I'm going to post all of this in one topic...just to keep it clean.

08-01-05 Press Conference:
In a press conference today, video game developers, Spike, announced that they have partnered with Sky TV, and together they are launching a new wrestling promotion that will revitalize pro wrestling in Japan. Representatives from both companies announced that they have elected someone who is no stranger to pro wrestling to head the new company. They then introduced, Tatsumi Fujinami, the new head of Royal Ring Puroresu.

Fujinami then opened up the floor, and said he had time to answer 10 questions.

Q1: Can you give us any information on which wrestlers you have under contract at this point?
A1: I don't want to give away too much...We do have an official roster unveiling ceremony planned for the end of the week. Right now, I can say that we feel that our roster is very strong, and that some of the signings will definitely surprise you.

Q2: Will there be any titles at the start of the promotion, or will they be introduced in the future?
A2: This I can answer. RRP does plan on introducing our titles in the first tour. RRP will have 2 singles titles and 2 tag titles. The singles titles will be your standard Heavyweight and Jr. Heavyweight titles. One set of tag titles will be a standard open-weight tag titles. The other set is something unique to RRP, and we call them the Revolution Tag Titles. We decided on this name because of the way in which the titles change hands. Two teams will face off and the wrestler who takes the fall hands his title over to the wrestler who scored the fall and the match ends with the wrestler who was not pinned and the wrestler who scored the pin being the new Revolution Tag Team champions. We feel this will promote teamwork between all RRP wrestlers and lead to more interesting teams.

Q3: With a video game developer and a TV company involved is it safe to assume that you will have a video game and TV slot?
A3: Actually, we have decided to hold off on both of these for the time being. We want to focus on putting out a quality product to a live audience before we focus our efforts on merchandise and TV production. It's safe to assume that a TV slot and a video game are definitely something we are striving for in the future however.

Q4: When will your first show take place?
A4: We have booked Korakuen Hall for August 15th. So the first show will be in a little more than 2 weeks time.

Q5: How do you plan on competing with the big 3 here in Japan? Are you working with any of them for your first show?
A5: Ah, you think you can trick us with 2 questions in one huh? [laughter] We will put our hearts into every show, and the fans will see and appreciate this, hopefully we will become the top wrestling promotion in Japan, and worldwide. As far as working with other promotions, we would love to have some wrestlers from NJPW or AJPW or NOAH on our first show, and any other show after that. Cooperation and competition are two important values in RRP.

Q6: Will you be doing any wrestling for the new promotion?
A6: No, I've had my time in the ring, and I have no plans in wrestling for the company.

Q7: How often is Royal Ring planning on running shows?
A7: We want to compete with the big 3, so we will have to run shows in a similar way. I would expect for Royal Ring to hold 1 tour a month, with a tour consisting of between 7-10 shows apiece. Right now we are planning our October tour, and we have already finalized our September tour. So we are off to a good start.

Q8: Are you working exclusively with Japanese wrestlers, or do you have some gaijins on the initial roster?
A8: Again, I don't want to give away too much before the official roster unveiling. I will say that we are not and never will be against working with wrestlers from all over the globe.

Q9: How will you decide your initial champions?
A9: The Royal Ring Crown, or RRC, Heavyweight Champion will be decided in the main event of our opening show. All other titles will be decided during the first tour.

Q10: Are you absolutely sure you can't give us a hint as to who the ace on the roster is?
A10: Yes, I'm sure that I can't give away that information. We have a talented roster, and I'm sure it will be big news when we unveil it. That's the 10th question, so I thank you all for coming, and I hope to see you again at the end of the week when RRP unveils it's roster and announces the matches for the first card.

Fujinami heads off the stage as the reporters go crazy for pictures.

I've actually decided to do an entire universe with the 3 big japanese feds plus my Royal Ring. I'm going to try to bug Oliver for a forum section of my own. I'm also updating a lot (which is a horrid understatment) of the puro exports for this project. I will also try to send the updates to Oliver and King Of The Old School to get the updated packs posted on TNM.com and TNM-UK.
