Videopackageosity...

SE: Good evening, folks!  It's Sunday night, and that means that it's once again time for Rush!  I'm Sean Edmunds, alongside Christopher Nowinski.
CN: Greetings, WWL fans!  Always a pleasure.
SE: Do you really mean that?
CN: Of course!  It's always a pleasure to earn my impressive paycheck.
SE: You truly have the gift of the silver tongue.
CN: Don't soon forget.
SE: Wellllll ladies and gentlemen, we've got a decent little card for you here tonight, if I do say so myself!  We've got a rematch from the WWL World Heavyweight Title Tournament as Steven Richards takes on Matt Hardy, Gene Snitsky will be in action, and in our main event tonight, Carlito Caribbean Cool will go one-on-one with Rico!
CN: That one ought to be interesting given the actions of the last week or so, but first, in our opening match tonight, we've got a debut - so let's head down to the ring!

Chris Sabin vs. Kid Kash

Kid Kash is making his WWL debut here tonight.  Kash has a cocky streak to him and seems to be sure of an inevitable victory, but Chris Sabin is by no means a slouch.  These two mesh pretty well in this one, impressively drawing over three stars for just over six minutes of action.  After Kid Kash puts a little too much effort into gloating, Sabin takes control of the match.  Sabin looks to have things wrapped up with the Future Shock, but as he has Kash hoisted into the air, Kash gets his leg free and manages to counter into an impressive variant on a DDT.  Kash may be the heel, but that was pretty cool, so he gets cheered for it.  Sabin, meanwhile, has been knocked goofy.  Kash drags Sabin to his feet and delivers the Money in the Bank to score the victory in his first WWL match.

Kid Kash pinned Chris Sabin with the Money In The Bank in 0:06:19.

Matt Hardy vs. Steven Richards

This match is a rematch from the first round of the WWL World Heavyweight Title Tournament.  Steven Richards came out on top there, but Hardy and Richards would clash again in the battle royal for the Intercontinental Title, during which Hardy eliminated Richards.  Though there was never an official challenge made, it's fairly well understood (and mentioned by the commentators) that both men wanted this match.

And it's a whole bunch of scientific fun for the majority of the match.  Hooray!  Richards, being the whacked-out...uh...wacko that he is, starts making things interesting by performing his own counts.  This applies to chokes and strikes in the corner, of course, but he's also counting on routine things like headlocks and arm wrenches, and then making a point of his clean breaks.  Whatever, Steven.  Even though he may be out of his mind, Richards is still a hell of a wrestler, so he and Matt mostly go back and forth.  Toward the end, Richards goes for a Stevenkick, but Matt ducks out of the way and rolls him up for a long two.  Richards gets up and walks into a small package for another long two.  Richards nails Matt and goes for a clothesline, but Matt dodges it and delivers a Side Effect.  Matt goes for a second-rope legdrop, but Richards rolls out of the way.  Matt slowly gets back up and Steven grabs him for the Stevie-T, and Matt gets out of it by pushing Richards back into the corner.  The ref counts to five for the clean break, but Richards takes exception -- isn't he supposed to be counting?  Richards argues with the ref, giving Matt a chance to regain his senses.  Richards turns, kick, Twist of Fate and it's over.  Matt has evened the series at one win apiece.

Matt Hardy pinned Steven Richards with the Twist Of Fate in 0:10:08.

"It wasn't my fault!"  Here comes Gene Snitsky, out to take on unsigned talent Sean Evans.  But it looks like he has a microphone.  Grand.  Snitsky speaks in his half-breathy-half-angry voice.

GS: Before we begin our match, I would like to show my appreciation to you for being my opponent tonight...by telling you a joke.

This week, the crowd knows what's coming.  They boo.

GS: What's red...and silver...and runs into walls?

Evans just shrugs, confused.

GS: A baby...with forks...in its eyes!

Evans is all, "What the hell is the matter with you?"  When he doesn't laugh, Snitsky nails him with a huge right hand and the match is on.

Gene Snitsky vs. Sean Evans (unsigned talent)

Snitsky has gone from goofy to vicious in 3.2 seconds.  He hammers away on Evans, pounding his head into the mat.  Snitsky chokes Evans on the mat, then grabs him and chucks him shoulder-first into the ringpost.  Snitsky drags Evans out of the corner and delivers a sidewalk slam.  Snitsky shouts at the crowd as Evans staggers to his feet.  Snitsky turns and takes Evans' head off with a big boot, then picks him up and delivers the Pump-Handle Slam for the three-count.

Gene Snitsky pinned Sean Evans with the Pump-Handle Slam in 0:00:56.

Rico vs. Carlito Caribbean Cool

This match stems from two weeks ago on Monday Night Action, when Carlito spewed a mouthful of apple on Miss Jackie.  Rico may come off as...er...a little light in the loafers, but he still defends Miss Jackie fiercely.  That doesn't mean he can't creep out Carlito as best he can, though, so that's precisely what he does in the early minutes of the match.  Carlito's fighting style is kind of cowardly (understatement of the century), so he doesn't have any high-impact moves to knock Rico's head off whenever he goes for a kiss or a slap on the ass.  At one point, Carlito escapes the ring for a breather (or a few moments of freedom from Rico's quasi-sexual mannerisms).  Miss Jackie is nearby so Carlito starts intimidating her.  Rico goes out after Carlito, so he runs away and Rico chases him around the ring.  Carlito reenters the ring and when Rico follows him, Carlito gets the advantage with some stomps.  Carlito controls the match for a little while off of this advantage.  After a missile dropkick, Carlito gets cocky and gets in Jackie's face again, but this time, she elects to just slap the taste out of his mouth.  Carlito is stunned by that, and Rico delivers a roundhouse kick to put both men down.

Both competitors stagger to their feet and get into a slugfest, which Rico wins (because he is TEH BABYFACE~).  Rico maintains his advantage with some martial arts moves (and, for the time being at least, no homoeroticism).  Carlito tries to bail out, but Rico isn't having that this time, and he yanks Carlito back in by the legs as he tries to squirm out.  Rico is dominating Carlito (no, not like that) and his step-over face kick gets two.  Rico stalks Carlito as he pulls himself to his feet, but all of a sudden, the Law Firm of Mason, Martin & Bloom is down to ringside.  They surround Jackie, and Rico is distracted to go yell at them.  He doesn't have to actually leave the ring, though, as Goldust is down as well and he goes after both Martin and Bloom.  Goldust takes Bloom down with an uppercut and begins brawling with Martin.  Clarence Mason gets up on the apron and starts jawing at Rico, and the referee tells him to bugger off.  While that's going on, Bloom sneaks into the ring and crushes Rico with a Vader attack.  Bloom leaves the ring and Carlito gets up, gives Rico the Overdrive, and covers to get the three.

Carlito Caribbean Cool pinned Rico with the Overdrive in 0:10:27.
Rating: *** ½

Post-match, Carlito gets an apple and spits a mouthful onto Rico as he's down, just to be a dick.

CN: And the faceful of produce is the icing on the cake here tonight, as Carlito gets the victory!
SE: That's going to do it for Rush tonight, folks!  Don't miss Action tomorrow night as JBL goes one-on-one with the Big Show!  Good night!

Snitskys jokes continue to amuse. Kudos to him, and Carlito (even if he did need help beating Rico  :P ) for being awesome.

Yay Kid Kash.  And I like when crowds appreciate when a heel does something cool and pops for it.  So, big ups to your crowd.  And to Kid Kash.

Great Rush match for Hardy and Richards. Your Richards character has been very cool thus far.  Making his own counts for clean breaks is fantastically funny.

Oh Snitsky, Dead Baby Comedian, will you ever learn?

Carlito wins too.  Don't like that he needed help to beat Rico, but eh, what can you do?
AllPowerfulGARTHPosted on 07/27/05 at 02:02:17

I didn't think it would be so unusual to have Carlito beat Rico through outside interference.  I mean...has Carlito ever won a match cleanly?  Ever?

Besides against Matt Hardy in my circuit about a month ago?

Ironically, the only match I've ever seen him win cleanly was his third televised match in WWE against... Rico.
