GWA Ground Zero - 07/09/05

AzraelPosted on 07/18/05 at 18:53:24

("This Means War!!" by Busta Rhymes plays as the Rock walks out to start this week's episode of Ground Zero. He steps through the ropes and gets a mic.)

RM: Finally, the Rock has come back to Buffalo! Now, the Rock went to war with Kurt Angle inside a steel cage at Bloody Summer, and unfortunately, the Rock was not the man with his hand raised at the end of the night. But the Rock doesn't care about that. You see, the Rock is just going to fight for that North American Title. The Rock is gonna keep whipping ass and taking names until the Rock is the champ. And you know, that's an easy thing for the Rock to do. That's what the Rock's best at. That's what the Rock is best to do. And the Rock is the #1 contender for the North American Title. So the Rock says Kurt Angle...come out here right now and get your candyass beat down by the People's Champ.

("Medal" by Jim Johnston plays as Kurt Angle walks to the entryway with a mic in his hand.)

KA: Rock, you don't seem to get it. At Bloody Summer, where it was just you and me, I beat you. Last week, you got two guys, I got two guys, and my team came out the winners. You just can't beat me Rock. You just can't win.

RM: Why don't you come down to the ring and say that to the Rock's face?

KA: Why? There's nothing to prove. I pinned you just like I pinned everyone else in the world. I am the greatest wrestler that has ever lived or that ever will live.

RM: The Rock says you got lucky. And the Rock says you're scared of the Rock. The Rock knows the people want you to stop ducking the Rock.

KA: You know what Rock, if you want a shot, I'll give it to you. But you'll have to earn it. I don't care if you're the #1 contender just because you made the final, you haven't proven anything to me. But just because I'm a fighting champion, I'm going to defend my belt in two weeks. But I'm not going to defend it against just anyone. No, there's going to be a battle royal next week. If you have credentials in the GWA, you can enter. And I'll defend my title against the winner in two weeks. So Rock, you'd better win next week if you want a shot at this. Because otherwise, you'll be out of a shot for a very long time. And that...is true.

("Medal" then plays again as Angle heads to the back while the Rock fumes in the ring. We the go to bonus footage from last week's Ground Zero. Kanyon is leaving the arena after losing to CIMA.)

K: That jerk just got lucky. Who's better than Kanyon, I ask you? Nobody. Absolutely nobody. If I ever see him again, I'm going to beat him so bad, he'll wake up cross-eyed. I'll kick his teeth in so bad he'll be eating with his butt. That Japanese pansy ain't got nothing on me. That's right, he's just a little...

(Kanyon turns the corner to find CIMA sitting on his car.)

K: Hey buddy! How's it going? I was just saying to people how good you are. What a match we had! You're one tough customer.

(CIMA stares at Kanyon and tilts his head a little.)

K: You know, I have a deal for you. It'll work out great for both of us.

(CIMA smiles at Kanyon and hops down.)

K: Excellent. Now...

(CIMA slaps Kanyon in the face and then throws him into the car, leaving a large dent in it. He stomps at Kanyon repeatedly before jumping in the air and hitting him with a dropkick. CIMA brings Kanyon back to his feet and slams his head into the windshield a couple times, putting a large crack in it. He then stands on top of the car and brings Kanyon up to his feet, steadying him before superkicking him off the car and to the cold hard ground. Kanyon writhes in pain, but CIMA brings him up and throws him into the front of the car one more time before leaving. Kanyon holds his back in agony as the camera cuts back to the live feed. The announcers say that because of the incident, Kanyon has quit the GWA, fearing for his life. But now, it's time to get to the first match of the night.)

("Simple Man" by the Grouch plays as Elix Skipper walks to the ring alone. He jaws with the fans as the announcers talk about whether Christopher Daniels is disappointed with him for his recent losses. He steps through the ring and taunts the fans as "Kids With Guns" by Gorillaz plays. Tony Mamaluke walks out and raises his arms in the air. He walks down the aisle and steps through the ropes, then sits on the turnbuckle. He had a reasonably impressive debut against Ultimo Dragon last week, and he's looking to build upon it with his first win tonight. "Underworld" by Anathema brings out the third man of this opening match, Ultimo Dragon. He did lose to CIMA at Bloody Summer, but he still beat Mamaluke last week. He wants to continue his roll and get into the contender list for the Cruiserweight Title. Ultimo Dragon steps through the ropes and faces his opponents, folding his arms.)

[Elix Skipper vs. Tony Mamaluke vs. Ultimo Dragon]

The three men enter a standoff, but Mamaluke eventually hits Dragon with a couple forearms. He whips him into the ropes, but Skipper takes out Mamaluke from behind with a forearm. Dragon comes back and takes Skipper down with a spinning leg lariat. All three men get up and Dragon takes Mamaluke down with an armdrag. He then gets up and brings Skipper down with an armdrag. Mamaluke runs at Dragon, but gets backdropped to the mat. Skipper hits Dragon with a forearm and whips him into the ropes, connecting with a spin kick on the way back. He drops a leg and makes the cover, but Mamaluke breaks up the pin. Mamaluke stomps on Skipper as he gets up, then runs into the ropes, but Skipper hits him with a kick to the head. He brings Mamaluke up and slams him to the mat again, then drops a leg. Dragon gets up and hits Skipper with a soccer kick that makes him scream out in pain. Mamaluke gets up, but Dragon hits him with a chop and whips him into the ropes. Mamaluke ducks under a lariat and grabs Dragon, bringing him down with a German suplex. Dragon kicks out, but Skipper is up and stomps on him repeatedly. Mamaluke gets to his feet and Skipper tries to kick him, but Mamaluke catches his foot. Mamaluke then brings Skipper down with a dragon screw and hooks in the Sicilian Crab. Skipper flails around for a couple seconds before Dragon breaks the hold with a hard soccer kick to Mamaluke. Dragon hits another kick and locks in the Dragon Sleeper on Mamaluke. Skipper breaks the hold and grabs Dragon for the Play of the Day, but Mamaluke takes his leg out. Mamaluke tries to lock in a double chickenwing submission, but Dragon kicks him again. Dragon brings Mamaluke up and whips him into the ropes, bringing him down with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Skipper pushes Dragon in the corner and then brings him down with a back suplex as Dragon staggers back. Skipper climbs to the top rope and waits for either of his opponents to get up, but he sees Edge, who has walked out to the entryway. He jaws with him, allowing Mamaluke to get up and crotch him on the turnbuckle. Mamaluke climbs to the top rope and grabs Skipper, but Dragon positions himself under Mamaluke. Dragon then power bombs Mamaluke to the mat as Mamaluke brings Skipper down with a superplex. Dragon covers Mamaluke, but Mamaluke gets his shoulder up in time. Dragon then kicks Mamaluke out of the ring and puts the Dragon Sleeper on Skipper. Skipper flails around again but can't get anywhere and just taps out.

Ultimo Dragon defeated Elix Skipper and Tony Mamaluke when U. Dragon made Skipper submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:07:43.
Rating: *** 1/4

(Dragon lets go and celebrates while Mamaluke walks to the back. Skipper is on his knees in the ring, obviously disappointed. Edge walks down the aisle and gets in the ring. He takes a mic.)

Edge: I hope you understand now. You weren't in my league. You spent a month getting in my way, interfering and annoying me whenever you could. But it didn't do anything. At Bloody Summer, I still beat you. I still showed that I'm the better man. And now, just to prove it, I'm going to do to you what you did to me. I'm going to be a thorn in your side. But I doubt you'll be able to overcome it like I did.

(Skipper is still in pain from the Dragon Sleeper and can't do anything but cover up when Edge stomps him a couple times. He brings Skipper up and whips him into the ropes, then hits him with a spear, laying Skipper out. Edge takes off his belt and shoves it in Skipper's face. The camera then cuts to the back with Los Guerreros.)

EG: Chavito, I'd just like to say in person how sorry I am for beating you up. We're familia esse. I just snapped. I went loco for un minuto.

CG: Relax. Like you said, we're family. But not only are we family, we're Guerreros. So let's go out there and show everybody what that means.

EG: Let's do that.

(The camera cuts to the backstage area where Ken Shamrock is walking around.)

KS: Gotta find someone...gotta find someone...gotta find someone...

(He walks into Trinity, knocking her down.)

T: Hey, watch where you're going!

KS: Gotta find someone...

T: What are you babbling about?

(Quiet Storm walks in the picture.)

KS: YOU!

QS: ...

T: What do you want?

KS: Mexico's Most Wanted took out my partner, Chris Benoit, last week. I need you to be my partner to take them on. I'm going to take their ankles and break them and use them as paperweights. I'm going to use their achilles tendons as a rubber band.

QS: ...

KS: What?

T: My sentiments exactly.

KS: Anyway, will you help?

QS: Yes.

(Shamrock smiles and walks away as the camera cuts to the ring.)

("Los Tres Delinquentes" by Delinquent Habits plays as Los Guerreros walk out. Chavo is clearly wary of Eddie. You have to wonder how sincere Eddie's apology was, and if he attacked Chavo once, he surely is liable to do it again. They step through the ropes and Eddie steps on the turnbuckle, beating his chest. "At the Helm" by Hieroglyphics plays as the newest tag team in the GWA, the Spanish Announce Team, walk out. They're trying to start out here on a positive note. They both jump over the top rope and walk up to Los Guerreros.)

[Los Guerreros vs. The SAT]

Chavo and Jose start out. They lock up and Jose puts Chavo in a hammerlock before putting him in a headlock. Chavo whips Jose into the ropes, and Eddie grabs Jose by the hair when he reaches the ropes and pulls him down. Chavo hits a series of stomps, then brings Jose up. He hits a forearm and tags in Eddie. Eddie climbs to the top rope as Chavo holds Jose and comes off with a flying axhandle. He throws Jose in the corner and works over him with kicks. He then brings him to the center of the ring and hits a snap suplex. He floats over for a cover but only gets two. He brings Jose to his feet and runs into the ropes, turning him inside out with a lariat. He tags in Chavo, who comes in and brings Jose to his feet, hitting him with a couple European uppercuts. He whips Jose into the ropes, but Jose catches him with spinning headscissors. Chavo gets up quickly and Jose takes him down with a lariat. Jose crawls to his corner and tags in Joel while Chavo tries to tag in Eddie, but Eddie's not on the apron. Joel enters and stomps on Chavo repeatedly before bringing him to his feet. Chavo hits some forearms, but Joel kicks him in the stomach and whips him into the ropes, hitting a dropkick. He tags in Jose, who slams Chavo to the mat. Joel then climbs to the top rope and jumps off with a moonsault that connects. Joel leaves the ring as Jose covers Chavo, who manages to kick out. Jose hits Chavo with some forearms to the back and tags Joel back in. Jose then whips Chavo in the ropes and hits him with a fist to the midsection. Joel runs and blasts him with an enzuigiri after. Joel then calls for the end and they put Chavo on the turnbuckle before climbing to the top rope. Both men grab Chavo and then jump back, hitting him with the Spanish Fly! Jose rolls out of the ring as Joel covers for three.

The Spanish Announce Team defeated Los Guerreros when Joel pinned Chavo Jr. after the Spanish Fly in 0:07:19.
Rating: ***

(Eddie slides back in the ring after the match and stands over Chavo. He starts stomping away at Chavo and brings him to his feet. He goes for a brain buster, but Chavo slides down his back. Chavo then fires a bunch of punches at Eddie and whips him into the ropes. However, Eddie grabs onto the ropes and slides back out of the ring. Chavo gets a mic.)

CG: You know, I'm tired of this Uncle Eddie. I gave you a second chance. I thought you had my back. But you can't fool me twice. So since the GWA's not big enough for both of us, I say we fight next week and the loser leaves the GWA.

(Eddie nods and points at Chavo while backing up. The camera then cuts to the Amazing Red, who is stretching preparing for his title defense against Christian York in the main event. Rey Misterio Jr. walks in.)

RM: Hey man.

Red: Hey. What can I do for you?

RM: I'm pretty sure you already know.

Red: You want a title shot, huh?

RM: Of course.

Red: How about this? Should I get past York, I'll face you soon.

Man: Excuse me for interrupting...

(Red and Rey turn to find Low Ki.)

LK: ...but it seems you've forgotten something.

Red: He speaks.

LK: I don't feel the need to talk unless necessary. But I am the #1 contender to your title. I should be getting the title shot.

RM: But you've lost a Cruiserweight match. I haven't.

LK: It took three men to beat me. Plus, I pinned you last week.

RM: You can't do it again.

LK: Oh? How about this? We wrestle a best-of-5 series. And the winner of that will face him for the title.

RM: I can live with that.

Red: Uh...I'm still here.

LK: It's settled then. One more thing though.

RM: Yeah?

LK: We're starting tonight.

(Low Ki punches Rey in the face and then walks away, leaving Rey fuming on the ground.)

(The camera then cuts back to the ring. "Knife Prty" by Deftones plays as Matt Hardy walks to the ring. He slaps hands with the fans and steps through the ropes. He's had problems since coming into the GWA, but beating one of the more dominating men here will certainly change that. "Yatahaze" by dredg then plays as CIMA walks out. He looks at Hardy and smirks before walking down the aisle. He then steps through the ropes and stands on the turnbuckle. CIMA has left almost everyone he's met laying. He's injured Jerry Lynn and beaten Kanyon so badly that he quit the GWA entirely. Hardy certainly has his hands full.)

[Matt Hardy vs. CIMA]

They circle each other for a few seconds and CIMA nails Hardy with a kick to the stomach. He follows that with a forearm to the back and whips him into the ropes, dropping him with a dropkick. Hardy gets up slowly and CIMA pushes him into the corner, peppering him with chops. Hardy staggers out0, but CIMA grabs him and takes him down with a Russian legsweep. CIMA then runs into the ropes and jumps onto Hardy's head with a double foot stomp before making a cover for two. CIMA brings Hardy up and whips him into the corner, but Hardy reverses it. He then runs in with a lariat. He whips CIMA into the other corner and follows in with another lariat. CIMA staggers out and Hardy grabs him, dropping him with the Side Effect. He makes a cover, but CIMA kicks out. Hardy brings CIMA up and slams him to the mat. He climbs to the top rope and jumps off with a flying legdrop, but CIMA rolls out of the way. Hardy gets up slowly and CIMA staggers him with a sitdown jawbreaker. He gets to his feet and nearly knocks Hardy's head off with a superkick. He puts Hardy on the top rope and hits him with the Venus. Hardy nearly falls off the turnbuckle, but CIMA steadies him and hits another Venus. He brings Hardy down to the mat with the Iconoclasm and covers him, hooking the leg for three.

CIMA pinned Matt Hardy after the Iconoclasm in 0:05:10.
Rating: *** 1/4

(CIMA stands over Hardy and raises his arms in the air. The crowd then pops as Quiet Storm runs to the ring and slides under the ropes. He tackles CIMA and starts punching him. CIMA manages to push him off and gets to his feet. Storm blocks a palm blow and then blasts CIMA with the Roaring Elbow. CIMA rolls out of the ring as Storm follows him. They brawl to the back.)

(The camera cuts to Taz in the back.)

Taz: You know, ever since I've come into the GWA, I've had a problem. People have been ducking me. My very first night here, I took the TV champion Edge...and I choked him out. The ONLY reason I am not the champ right now is because time expired. But the message was sent: Step up against Taz and get smacked back down to the ground. But week after week, no one wants to fight me. These so-called tough guys scatter like ants when I walk toward them. But this battle royal Angle's set up...let me be the first guy to say I'm up for that. I will go through however many people it takes. I will get that title shot and I will choke Angle out and I will be the next North American champion. But to the rest of you, you have a choice. You don't have to get in the ring with me. You don't have to be run over by the One Man Wrecking Crew. Just save yourself a whole bunch of pain and don't bother entering. Remember...fight me if you must...beat me if you can...survive...if I let you.

(The camera then cuts to the Young Lions in the back.)

Joey Matthews: Tonight's a big night for the Young Lions.

Christian York: No doubt.

JM: Tonight, I show just what I can do to the one of the best wrestlers in the GWA, Chris Jericho.

CY: And I'm going to get my belt back from Red.

JM: It's not right that you had to defend it in a four corners match at Bloody Summer.

CY: After all that time, against all the odds, I still almost won. I let my guard down and he beat me. But I'm not going to let that happen again. What about you? You ready for Jericho?

JM: Of course I am. I've seen what he does. He's a good wrestler, but he tries to cheat his way to wins. Look what he did at Bloody Summer.

CY: ...it was a no-DQ match. All that was legal.

JM: It doesn't make it right. I know if we're both alone in the ring and no one interferes, I can beat him. Tonight, we show the world just what the Young Lions are made of. Tonight, we show the world that the Young Lions are not flukes.

CY: Tonight...I get my belt back.

(The camera then cuts to the ring. "The Hollow" by A Perfect Circle plays as Lance Storm walks to the ring. He steps through the ropes and gets a mic.)

LS: If I could be serious for a minute, I'd like to say what an honor it is that I have been given this shot at the TV Title. But it as honor that has been denied me for too long. It is as though the GWA does not want to see a true wrestler thrive. I have shown the world my skills. I have shown that I am the greatest pure wrestler here. But regardless of how long it took to get my shot, I have it now. And I'm going to make sure that I show Edge just how badly I outclass him.

("Ticks & Leeches" by Tool plays as Edge runs out holding his TV Title. He slides under the bottom rope and gets to his feet, standing on the turnbuckle and holding the belt. He's beaten every man who's tried to take the belt from him, though he's often used less than legal means. Storm's going to have to be at the top of his game to take the belt away now.)

[Lance Storm vs. Edge]

They lock up and Storm quickly puts Edge in a hammerlock. He then grabs Edge in a headlock and takes him down to the mat. Edge manages to get to his feet and pushes Storm into the ropes. He whips Storm and knocks him down with a shoulderblock. He runs into the ropes, but Storm takes him down and locks on another headlock. Storm brings Edge up and drives a knee into his head. He then slams Edge to the mat and drops a knee. He covers, but Edge kicks out at two. Storm brings Edge up again and hits him with a couple forearms, then whips him into the ropes. He puts his head down, but Edge kicks him in the head. Storm is staggered and Edge pounds him with a series of punches. Storm retreats to the corner, but Edge follows in and kicks him in the stomach. He keeps kicking and then whips Storm into the other corner. Storm staggers out and Edge tries to spear him, but Storm moves out of the way and Edge collides with the ringpost. Storm rolls Edge up with an inside cradle, but Edge kicks out for a very near fall. Storm gets up and stomps at Edge before bringing him to his feet and slamming him to the mat again. He moves to the apron and waits for Edge to get up. He then comes back in and plasters Edge with a springboard dropkick. He covers, but Edge manages to kick out. Storm stomps at Edge's bad arm and then drops an elbow on it. He applies a Fujiwara armbar and Edge screams in pain. Storm wrenches back, but Edge starts to slide out and reaches the ropes. Storm lets go and keeps stomping on the arm. Edge gets to his feet, but Storm keeps up the attack. He grabs Edge's arm and raises it in the air before bringing it down over his shoulder with an armbreaker. He hits another one and Edge goes down to his knees. Storm then hits Edge with a dropkick to the back of the head, making the champ slump to the mat. He makes another cover but only gets two. He brings Edge to his feet and calls for the Cradle Piledriver. He tries to bring him up, but Edge blocks it and backdrops Storm to the mat. Storm gets up and Edge hits him with a dropkick to bring him down again. Edge hits some punches with his good arm and brings Storm up, whipping him into the ropes. He runs over Storm with a lariat, then collapses to the mat as he used the bad arm. Storm gets up and stomps on Edge before whipping him into the ropes. He hits Edge with a knee to the stomach, but Edge flips over his leg and rolls him up with an inside cradle. He holds the tights and gets three.

Edge pinned Lance Storm after an inside cradle in 0:09:03.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Edge retained the GWA T.V. Title.)

(Edge quickly rolls out of the ring and gets his belt then retreats to the back as Storm just kneels in the ring with his head in his hands. The camera cuts to Adam Bramledge standing by with Jake Roberts and Mexico's Most Wanted.)

AB: Jake, last week you and Mexico's Most Wanted made your debuts in the GWA by attacking the Tag Team champions, Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock, clearly worsening Benoit's concussion. Why?

JR: Haven't you been paying attention to what I've been saying these past few weeks? We're here to cement our legacy. As for Benoit and Shamrock, they were merely at the wrong place at the wrong time. But if they want revenge, they're more than welcome to try and get it.

AB: As a matter of fact, Ken Shamrock has enlisted Quiet Storm to face Mexico's Most Wanted later tonight.

JR: Their funeral. You see, I picked these two men to help me for a reason. They have no souls, but they are filled with desire. The desire to prove themselves. The desire to make their enemies bleed buckets. They feel an obligation to make sure that everyone is left lying in their wake. In short...they remind me...of me. But as I said Shamrock, if you want revenge, that's fine. I'm sure Quiet Storm will regret helping you, but that's no matter. But even if you want revenge, that doesn't mean you'll get it. I have a feeling that you're in for the greatest pain of all...your ego is about to be shattered. Trust me...

(The camera backstage, where CIMA and Quiet Storm are still brawling. Officials have just gotten to the two of them and Tully Blanchard is among them. They separate the two, but they still try to attack each other.)

TB: I don't need this. CIMA, you don't have a match for the rest of the night, so just get out of here.

(CIMA responds by lunging for Storm. They get separated again.)

TB: Just get him out of the building.

(The officials holding CIMA push him back and out of view of the camera. Blanchard turns back to Storm.)

TB: As for you, get ready for your match.

(Storm stares at Blanchard for a couple seconds, then walks off. The camera cuts back to the ring.)

("Lounge Act" by Nirvana plays as Joey Matthews walks out. He works the crowd and then runs down the aisle, sliding under the ropes. He stretches on the ropes as "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden plays, bringing out Chris Jericho. He stretches out his arms and then walks down the aisle to the ring. Matthews took exception to AJ Styles and Christian helping out Jericho in his match with Chris Benoit at Bloody Summer and ended up hitting Jericho with a chair, which Jericho obviously took exception to. Matthews has had success in tag team action, but he hasn't had that one big singles victory yet. Jericho's trying to show what happens to anyone who sticks his nose in his business.)

[Joey Matthews vs. Chris Jericho]

Jericho taunts Matthews and then pops him in the face with a forearm. Matthews staggers back and Jericho slaps him before backing up to taunt him again. They lock up and Jericho forces Matthews into the corner and slaps him again. He backs up, but Matthews runs out and hits him with a forearm. He whips Jericho into the ropes and brings him down with a big backdrop. Jericho gets up gingerly and Matthews runs over him with a lariat. Matthews brings Jericho to his feet and whips him into the corner, then climbs to the second rope and fires off a series of punches as the crowd counts along. Eventually though, Jericho brings Matthews out and drops him with an inverted atomic drop. Matthews keels over and Jericho runs forward and pops him with an enzuigiri. Jericho makes the cover, but Matthews kicks out. He brings Matthews up and whips him into the corner. Matthews bounces out and Jericho bounces off the ropes, bringing Matthews down with a faceslam. He jumps off the middle rope and goes for the Lionsault, but Matthews rolls out of the way. Jericho lands on his feet, but Matthews sweeps his legs out from under him. He makes the cover and Jericho kicks out quickly. Both men get up and Matthews kicks Jericho in the stomach before grabbing him and bringing him down with a DDT. He makes the cover, but Jericho gets his shoulder up just before three. Matthews stomps away at Jericho's head as Jericho gets to his feet. Matthews bounces off the ropes, but Jericho catches him with a spinning leg lariat. He holds on to his head for a couple seconds, then brings Matthews up. He picks Matthews up for a bodyslam, but Matthews slides down his back and dropkicks him into the corner. Jericho staggers back and Matthews picks him and drops him with a back suplex. He measures Jericho and drops an elbow on his forehead. He then covers and hooks the leg, but Jericho gets free. Both men get up and Matthews hits him with some chops, then whips him into the ropes. He misses with a lariat, and Jericho scores on the second pass with a flying forearm. Jericho gets to his feet slowly, which allows Matthews to get up and run at Jericho, bringing him down with a DDT. He makes the cover, but Jericho gets out of it. Matthews climbs to the top rope and waits for Jericho to get up, then jumps off with a flying dropkick, but Jericho moves out of the way. Matthews hits the mat hard and Jericho grabs him and applies the Walls of Jericho. Matthews tries to reach the ropes, but Jericho pulls him to the center of the ring. He fights for awhile, but has no choice but to tap out.

Chris Jericho made Joey Matthews submit to the Walls of Jericho in 0:09:42.
Rating: ** 3/4

(Joey Matthews certainly gave it his all, but he couldn't come out on top tonight. The announcers are surprised Jericho survived the match considering Matthews focused on his head and neck the entire time. Matthews rolls out of the ring while Jericho makes a bunch of poses. The camera then cuts to Edge.)

Edge: Elix Skipper. Rhyno. Lance Storm. Matt Hardy. Quiet Storm. No matter who's gone after my belt, I've beaten them. I've had a string of title defenses unlike anyone in the GWA. I've shown time and time again that I will do anything to hold gold. And not only that, but this belt makes me the busiest man in the GWA. I'm continually defending it. But next week, I'll take a break from that. Next week, I'll enter Kurt Angle's battle royal. You see, I've never been pinned. I've never tapped out. But I haven't gotten the chance I deserve. I wasn't in the North American Title Tournament because I already have this belt. But I can live with that. Because I'm more than sure that I've done enough to get a shot on my own. And winning the battle royal next week will make it happen sooner rather than later.

(The camera goes back to the ring. "Burning Angel" by Arch Enemy plays as Low Ki walks out alone. He takes a couple exaggerated steps, then slaps the ground with both hands. He scans the crowd before walking down the aisle and entering the ring. "Symphony of the Dead" by Therion then plays as Rey Misterio Jr. comes out. He walks down the aisle, slapping hands as he goes, and then jumps over the top rope. He raises his arms in the air as the crowd cheers. Both of these men are fighting to be the #1 contender to the Cruiserweight Title. Misterio hasn't lost yet in Cruiserweight action, while Low Ki lost at Bloody Summer, but only after all three of his opponents piled on top of him.)

[Low Ki vs. Rey Misterio Jr.]

Ki immediately starts chopping Rey. Rey staggers away, but Ki follows and hits him with a headbutt to send him into the corner. He follows with some Mongolian chops, but Rey hits a couple kicks to get momentum. He whips Ki into the ropes, but Ki reverses it. Rey comes back with spinning headscissors to bring Ki down. Both men get up and Rey armdrags him down and applies an armbar. He brings Ki to his feet while still having the armbar applied, but Ki flips over and does a handstand before kicking Rey in the face to break the hold. Rey staggers back and Ki gets to his feet and kicks him in the thigh a couple times. Rey goes down to one knee and Ki kicks him hard across the chest before bouncing into the ropes and throwing a Yakuza kick. Rey rolls out of the way and gets to his feet. Both men circle each other before locking up. Rey hits a couple knees and pushes Ki into the corner before hitting some forearms. He tries to place Ki on the turnbuckle, but Ki blocks it. Ki responds with a couple headbutts to send Rey to the mat. Ki makes the cover but gets two. He brings Rey up and whips him in the corner. He follows in, but Rey puts up a boot. Ki staggers back and Rey quickly gets to the top rope and jumps off, bringing Ki down with a Frankensteiner. He makes the cover, but Ki kicks out just in time. Both men get up and Rey whips Ki into the ropes before hitting a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. He runs into the ropes and hits a quick legdrop before covering again. Ki kicks out again. Rey brings Ki up, but Ki breaks his grasp and punches him until Rey reaches the ropes. He whips Rey into the ropes and misses with a spin kick. Rey comes back, but Ki catches him with a huge lariat. He covers and hooks the leg, but Rey kicks out. Ki picks him up and slams him to the mat before running into the ropes. He jumps onto him with a flashing elbowdrop, but Rey rolls out of the way. Ki tries to shake off the pain and Rey rolls him up with a Magistral cradle that gets two. Rey gets up slowly but stomps Ki a few times. Ki gets to his feet and Rey whips him into the ropes. CD: Things are progressing well. There have been setbacks, there have been trevails, but that just makes our mission all the more important. It just makes the reward at the end of the tunnel that much sweeter. No, Elix Skipper did not take the TV Title from around Edge's waist. No, Low Ki did not win the Cruiserweight Title. No, I did not win the North American Title. But we fought for them. We did not go down softly. We endured pain for our goal. We have had obstacles put into our path. But we will perservere. Because we need to. Because all of you people need us to. Because wrestling itself needs us to. So next week, I will be a part of the battle royal. I will fix the setback that occurred at Bloody Summer. I will bring the North American Title to Triple X. And I will show the world the light...the way...and the future.

(The camera cuts back to the ring. "Chinga Tu Madre" by Brujeria plays as Halloween and Damien 666, Mexico's Most Wanted, come out along with Jake Roberts. They walk down the aisle, with Trinity skipping around trying to get Storm excited. Shamrock and Storm then nod at each other before entering the ring. Jake Roberts had been saying for weeks that he would make an impact in the GWA, and he did just that, attacking Ken Shamrock after he and Chris Benoit defended their titles against AJ Styles and Christian. Mexico's Most Wanted then hit Benoit, who already had a concussion after his match at Bloody Summer, with a devastating double-team manuever to take him out. Shamrock enlisted Storm in order to get revenge.)

He then moves over to Storm and picks him up, dropping him on his head with a belly-to-back suplex. He then stands over Storm and places him in a pendulum as Damien climbs to the top rope. (After the match, Trinity comes in and checks on Storm while Mexico's Most Wanted beat up on Shamrock. Roberts sets up a table on the outside of the ring and MMW whip Shamrock into the ropes, then both men grab him by the back of his head as he comes back and toss him over the top rope and through the table. Roberts laughs as the devastation as Trinity rolls Storm out of the ring. The camera then cuts to AJ Styles and Christian with Adam Bramledge.)

AB: AJ, Christian, you had a shot at the Tag Team Titles last week, but you couldn't win them...

C: Why don't you shut up right there? You see, AJ and I, we didn't lose. We were robbed. We had the Tag Team Titles in our grasp, but because of one fluke, those two idiots are still the champs. It's not cool at all.

AS: No, not at all. But what's worse is the GWA office. We went to Blanchard to demand a proper rematch. We wanted a fair shot, but he wouldn't give it to us.

C: No, that asshat wouldn't give us a title shot.

AS: He said we had to earn it again. But we were the #1 contenders before, and as far as we're concerned, nothing that happens last week changes that.

C: Jake Roberts wants to come in with Mexico's Most Wanted to steal our thunder. Ooooooh...spoooooky. How scared am I supposed to be of a guy dressed up like a pumpkin. The top team in the GWA is still Christian and AJ Styles.

AS: AJ Styles and Christian.

C: Whatever. We are still the best and it's only a matter of time before all of you reekazoids realize that.

(Chris Jericho walks in.)

CJ: Did you see that? That assclown Jerry Mathers started crying like a little girl when I was through with him.

AS: I'm always happy to see that punk get beat up.

CJ: And now that I've shown the Beaver what happens to people who get in my way, now that we took Benoit out of the game with a concussion, it's time for me to get a title shot. Wait a minute...there's a battle royal next week with just that on the line. I think I'll enter.

C: I don't understand what the big deal is with Angle. So he beat the Rock to win the belt. Big deal. I beat the Rock. Where's my belt?

AS: I think I'll enter too. The GWA needs someone absolutely phenomenal to be their champion. And that's me.

C: Me too. My peeps demand it.

(Styles and Christian walk away.)

CJ: ...what just happened?

(The camera cuts back to the ring. "Lounge Act" by Nirvana plays as Christian York runs down the aisle. He jumps over the top rope and climbs the turnbuckle, raising his arms to the fans to cheers. He bounces off the ropes as "Edge of the Earth" by 30 Seconds to Mars plays, christening the arrival of the Cruiserweight champion, the Amazing Red. Red walks down the aisle with the belt around his waist and slaps hands with the fans. He steps through the ropes and takes off the belt. He hands it to the ref, who raises it in the air. When I started reading the tag match near the end of the show and Damien tagged in... with Jake Roberts at ringside, I was lost there for a second. Actually Jakes interview was pretty neat, he didn't need to say anything clever or funny, I could picture him saying what he said. Nice.

Also, who's CIMA? I sort of half recognise the name, but that might have been from reading other peoples cards over the years. What's the dealy with him? A little profile so to speak.
AzraelPosted on 07/21/05 at 05:06:22

Yeah, Mexico's Most Wanted is Halloween and Damien 666, not Damien the snake.

CIMA's a wrestler who started out in Toryumon with the name Shiima Nobunaga (he had a few matches in WCW when they brought over a lot of Toryumon people). He was the leader of Crazy Max. He's a charismatic and cocky heel and talks more than he does in my writeups. His finisher is a Mad Splash (Lo Down type frog splash) and he also uses the Iconoclasm (think the Quebecers' finisher with the opponent taking Oulette's place) and the Venus (jumping palm strike) to set it up.
