ASWA PPV: 11/4/06...
americamamushi | Posted on 07/11/05 at 08:19:24 I like how this one ended up after doing the write ups. I feel like the show has more to offer than I originally did. It ended up with a low card rating, but I think the story helps to carry it. [hr] Card Information: Held in: NASSAU VETERAN'S MEMORIAL COLISEUM Location: NEW YORK, UNITED STATES Date/Time: 11/4/06 at 8:00pm Matches/Interviews booked: 12 Arena Capacity: 10000 Attendance: 10000 A Sold Out Arena. Ticket Buy Rate: 100% PPV ratings: 4.05% Approximently Viewers: 6075000 Welcome once more to the ASWA live on PPV! Tonight we've got a great card for you and here's how it looks. We'll see Buck Quartermain and Jeff Farmer take on Stevens & Skyfire, Booker T faces Roddy Piper, Jimmy Jacobs will be up against Vader, Scott Norton and Christopher Nowinski will once again be forced to team up as they have a re-match for the tag team titles against Palumbo & Stamboli, Sting will face Gronda, Hector Garza takes on Sylvain Grenier, Jon Dahmer wrestles Rey Misterio for the Great American title, Cactus Jack will face a new mystery wrestler in a non-title match, also Cactus will put his title on the line in a 4-corners match featuring a second debuting wrestler, Christian, and Ron Killings, there will be a big 10-man tag team I quit match featuring the Hardcore Revolution, and special guest Raven taking on special guests King Kong Bundy, Kamala, Nathan Jones and in their first time together in several weeks the Demonauts! And let's not forget about the big main event. Batista will face Bret Hart in a 2-out-of-3 falls match To kick things off, the Caribbean Cartel come out. Carlito: You know, I must admit, New York isn't half bad. Of course, it isn't half good either. Back home in Puerto Rico I get cheered, because the fans there? They're cool. But when me and Jesus came out just a minute ago, all we got were boos. And that? That's not cool. Carlito and Jesus deserve cheers. We're former tag team champions after all. The only reason we're not now is because of some cheating rats. I can't prove it, but seriously... how could you beat the Cartel without cheating? I mean look at us. We're in the prime of our careers. That's not cool. And I'll tell you what else isn't cool. Hardcore? Isn't cool. Every time there is an ASWA event, I see the Hardcore Revolution come out and stink up the ring with hardcore. And that... is not co--... Carlito is interupted by the music of the Hardcore Revolution and the entrance of Kanyon and Tony Mamaluke. Kanyon: You don't think Hardcore is "cool?" And just who says YOU are cool. It seems to me that the kind of peson that walks around saying he's cool is only doin' it 'cause no one thinks he really is. I may not like these fans and they may not like me but one thing you don't do is bad mouth New York! Now we're gonna show you just how cool hardcore is! Kanyon and Mamaluke charge the ring and out comes a ref for an impromptu match. The Caribbean Cartel (Carlito & Jesus) vs. The Hardcore Revolution (Kanyon & Tony Mamaluke) Kanyon enters the ring to make it two-on-one.The Hardcore Revolution (Kanyon and Tony Mamaluke) defeated The Caribbean Cartel (Carlito and Jesus) when Kanyon pinned Carlito with the Flatliner in 0:12:24. Rating: *** Carlito may not think Hardcore is cool, but hardcore certainly won out tonight. It seems that in some situations such as this one the fans can't decide whether they want to boo the Hardcore Revolution or cheer them. The fans tend to be quite particular of when they like and don't like the Hardcore Revolution. The Scorpions (Buck Quartermain & "Cowboy" Jeff Farmer) vs. Stevens & Skyfire (Chase Stevens & Seth Skyfire) Buck Quartermain uses a chop on Chase Stevens.Stevens & Skyfire (Seth Skyfire and Chase Stevens) defeated The Scorpions (Buck Quartermain and Jeff Farmer) when C. Stevens pinned B. Quartermain with the Shooting Star Press in 0:12:07. Rating: *** Chase Stevens gave Quartermain quite a send off. Buck can't be happy with his last moments in the ASWA being staring at the light. Many fans know that this was the last ASWA appearance of Buck Quartermain. Even though they loss Jeff Farmer and Buck Quartermain celebrate his ASWA career. They are soon joined by Big Show, Sting and Stacy Keibler, who wasn't at ringside for the match. Big Show gives congrats to Quartermain as does Keibler, but Sting seems somewhat reserved and stoic. Quartermain extends his hand to Sting. Sting looks at it for a minute and then just turns his back and leaves. Quartermain doesn't understand. With Sting leaving Farmer, Show and Keibler leave as well, but none are quite sure of Sting's actions. Booker T vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Roddy Piper hits Booker T.Booker T pinned Roddy Piper with the Scissor Kick in 0:10:21. Rating: * 1/4 "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs vs. "Big Van" Vader Vader hits Jimmy Jacobs with a running clothesline.Vader pinned Jimmy Jacobs with the Choke Slam in 0:08:40. Rating: *** 3/4 The match started with Vader having to chase after Jacobs, who obviously was much quicker. Once Vader got his hands on Jimmy he basically threw him around the ring and punished him for the rest of the match. It seemed like Vader was trying to send a message to Batista, that he can be brutal too. However Vader destroying little Jimmy Jacobs is a little bit different than Batista handing the Warlord his ass last month. Jimmy got had a very short lived come back that took Vader off guard enough to get a two count, but made the mistake of trying to spear big Vader. RE-MATCH: Scott "Flash" Norton & "Harcard Graduate" Christopher Nowinski vs. Chuck Palumbo & Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli Johnny Stamboli and Chuck Palumbo hit Scott Norton with a double[RE-MATCH]: Scott Norton and Christopher Nowinski defeated Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli when Norton pinned Stamboli with the Belly-to-Back Shoulder Breaker in 0:17:17. Rating: ** 3/4 (Scott Norton and Christopher Nowinski won the ASWA Tag Team Championship titles.) Norton & Nowinski spend a lot of the match fighting again. Nowinski tried to run away a few times, but Norton always stopped him and forcably brought him back to the ring. Norton managed to fight back after losing the advantage each time he had to chase his partner down. At the end, Nowinski finally got away, but by the time he got to the top of the ramp Norton was destroying both Palumbo & Stamboli and got the pinfall after his finisher. Nowinski was furious that he was now one half of the tag team champs with his mortal enemy Scott Norton. Sting vs. Gronda Sting climbs back into the ring.Gronda pinned Sting with the Spear in 0:11:08. Rating: -* 3/4 It looked like the #1 contender Sting was gonna defeat Gronda just as most of us probably thought, but Gronda caught Sting by surprise with his Spear and it was all over. Sting is still the #1 contender but Gronda might have a viable claim to that same position now. Batista is shown in the interview area in the back with an ASWA reporter. Reporter: Batista, tonight you face a true legend in the business and one of the major player in the ASWA itself. Do you have anything to say regarding your match? Batista: *pauses for a moment with a big grin on his face* Why yes I do. Vader? Make sure you watch my match tonight. With that Batista walks off camera, still with the smile on his face. Hector Garza vs. Sylvain Grenier Hector Garza executes a spinning backbreaker on Sylvain Grenier.Sylvain Grenier pinned Hector Garza with the Reverse DDT in 0:11:35. Rating: *** GREAT AMERICAN TITLE MATCH: Jon Dahmer vs. Rey Misterio Jr. (c) Rey Misterio Jr. takes Jon Dahmer down with a sitdown faceslam.Rey Misterio Jr. pinned Jon Dahmer with the Droppin' the Dime in 0:06:42. Rating: ** 1/2 (Rey Misterio Jr. retained the ASWA Great American Championship title.) Misterio really can credit this win to his quick ability to reverse a move by his opponent and follow it up just as quickly. The ring announcer announces the first mystery wrestler of the night... CHARLIE HAAS! Haas enters to cheers but doesn't play to the crowd on his way down. Charlie Haas: Hey... don't cheer me. I don't want you to cheer me. None of you are worthy of cheering me. All you care about is hardcore this and big powerhouse that. Well this right here is what a REAL wrestler looks like. I'm not some steroid chump or some tub of lard that just goes out and throws fists. I'm a wrestler... a REAL wrestler. I'll garen-damn-tee that I'm the most talented person in the ASWA and tonight I'm gonna prove it by not only beating your heavyweight champion, but by out wrestling him. Get ready to see real talent. NON-TITLE MATCH: "The Greatest Amateur Wrestler in Pro Wrestling Today" Charlie Haas vs. Cactus Jack Cactus Jack hits Charlie Haas with a swinging neckbreaker.[NON-TITLE MATCH]: Cactus Jack pinned Charlie Haas with the Double Arm DDT in 0:09:26. Rating: ** 1/4 Haas sure didn't fair to well in his first outing for the ASWA. Haas tried to wrestle an amateur match but Cactus stayed a step ahead most of the time with brawling and underhanded tactis, but after what Haas had to say more seemed to be on Cactus' side than usual. The ring announcer announces the second of tonight's two mystery wrestlers... AJ STYLES! AJ Styles: I'd just like to say to all you great New York fans that I'm glad to be here in the ASWA. I'm not gonna throw out a whole lot of big talk like Haas just did before getting his ass handed to him, but I will say this: I look forward to putting on great match after great match for all the ASWA audience and hopefully-- AJ Styles is interupted by Christian. Christian: Blabbity blah blah. Why don't you shut the hell up Styles? What are you the poster boy for ass kiss? *mockingly* I'd like to thank all you fans for buying my stuff and watching me lose and blah blah blah. I can't believe that you get to wrestle in this match tonight. You're first night here and Mr. Undercard gets a title shot. You know what happened on my first night here? I GOT SCREWED! I lost because I got screwed. But little AJ Styles, the little engine that could gets a damn title shot. Where's the justice? As Christian was talking he made his way into the ring C: But Styles, I didn't just come out here to tell you the whats what here in the Peeptown, I actually got you a welcome present. This one goes out to all my peeps in the NYC bitch. Christian whacks Styles hard in the head with a fist full of microphone. C: Sorry I didn't have time to wrap it. Christian starts stomping Styles as Killings and Cactus come out and the match officially starts. ASWA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. Christian vs. "The Phenominal" AJ Styles vs. Cactus Jack (c) They lock up.Four Corners Match: Cactus Jack defeated Ron Killings, Christian and AJ Styles when Cactus Jack pinned Killings after a piledriver in 0:00:37. Rating: * (Cactus Jack retained the ASWA Heavyweight Championship title.) What a quick title match! Cactus Jack's experience told him that he needed to end this quickly. Thanks to Styles & Christian being preoccupied with eachother on the outside Cactus was able to put Killings down quickly and keep his title. 10-MAN TAG TEAM I QUIT MATCH: The Hardcore Revolution (Cactus Jack, C.W. Anderson, Kanyon & Tony Mamaluke) & Raven vs. The Demonauts (Gronda & Gran Akuma), King Kong Bundy, Nathan Jones, & Kamala C.W. Anderson runs into the ropes.I-Quit Match: The Hardcore Revolution (C.W. Anderson, Cactus Jack, Kanyon and Tony Mamaluke) and Raven defeated The Demonauts (Gronda and Gran Akuma), King Kong Bundy, Nathan Jones and Kamala when Anderson made Kamala submit to a chokehold in 0:21:58. Rating: 3/4* 2-OUT-OF-3 FALLS MAIN EVENT: "The Animal" Batista vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart Batista whips Bret Hart into the ropes.[MAIN EVENT]: Two-out-of-three-Falls Match: Batista beat Bret Hart 2 falls to 0: x Batista beat B. Hart via the Demon Bomb in 0:07:27 x Batista beat B. Hart via a spinebuster slam in 0:12:11 Rating: ** 1/2 Hart had a hard time really being in charge. Hart had to put everything into putting down the Animal and Batista would just get right back up. Card rating: * 3/4 |
