Tonight we're coming to you from the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center in Alabama and we've got what we hope to be an exciting line up of matches planned for you. We're fresh off of our visit south of the border two weeks ago and what a night that was. Tonight we'll start off with a 4-way dance featuring Steven Richards, Jimmy Jacobs, the man Jimmy defeated two weeks ago in Tijuana: Kanyon, and a new debuting wrestler who we'll be meeting shortly. We'll see Shark Boy, who was quite impressive lately, will take on Gran Akuma, Jon Dahmer will be in action against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Todd Sexton will once again be facing former friend Seth Skyfire in singles action, the man that shocked everyone by answering Vader's challenge two weeks ago, Batista, will team up with Brian Adams to take on Vader and the Warlord, Hector Garza will face former Great American champion Sylvain Grenier, C.W. Anderson & Tony Mamaluke of the Hardcore Revolution will be in action against the team of Kevin Nash and Roadkill, Booker T will face Ultimo Dragon, Sting will face former Heavyweight champion Bret Hart in a #1 Contender's match, Rey Misterio Jr. will have his first Great American title defense against Chase Stevens, Buck Quartermain, Jeff Farmer and Big Show of the Scorpions will wrestle three former title holders in the Caribbean Cartel and Gronda, Palumbo and Stamboli will have their first title defense as well tonight as commissioner Jesse Ventura has decided to team up Scott Norton and Christopher Nowinski, how anyone could think these two could function as a team is a mystery, but it should make for an interesting match. And finally in the main event, the current #1 Contender the Big Show will take on Cactus Jack for the Heavyweight title! The ring announcer introduces the newest ASWA star after Richards, Jacobs and Kanyon have been announced... IT'S CHRISTIAN! Christian comes down to the ring with his usual smug smirk and throwing shout outs to his peeps. Christian snatches the microphone away from the ring announcer on the outside before getting in the ring. Christian: It's good to be here in the ASWA. You four trolls will be a good warm up for me. This one is goin' out to all my peeps in 'bama bitch. "Dancing" Stevie Richards vs. "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs vs. Kanyon vs. "Captain Charisma" Christian Christian whips Jimmy Jacobs into the ropes.Four Corners Match: Kanyon defeated Jimmy Jacobs, Stevie Richards and Christian when Kanyon pinned Christian after a German suplex in 0:08:06. Rating: *** Kanyon wanted at Jimmy Jacobs every chance he got. He obviously still is fuming about the loss he suffered to Jacobs two weeks ago in Mexico. Christian put on a good performance, but everytime he had a chance to end it he took too much time bragging and enticing boos from the crowd. In the end Jacobs had amazingly been able to happy get the upper hand over Christian, but Kanyon saw an opportunity and took it, tagging himself in to take the win away from Jacobs and get the glory for himself. Shark Boy vs. Gran Akuma Gran Akuma uses a flying forearm on Shark Boy.Gran Akuma pinned Shark Boy with the Falcon Arrow in 0:08:01. Rating: *** 1/4 Shark Boy and Ultimo Dragon had a great showing two weeks ago defeating two members of the Scorpions. This week however Shark Boy didn't have the same luck. Gran Akuma however managed to get a win, which has become a rare occurance since he was forced to enter singles compitition. Jon Dahmer vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Roddy Piper hits a low blow on Jon Dahmer.Jon Dahmer pinned Roddy Piper after a small package in 0:14:29. Rating: * 1/4 It looked like Piper was going to get the win after a rake to the face and a hand full of tights, but Dahmer kicked out. Even after the kick out Piper remained confident that a win was only seconds away and dropped his guard just enough for Dahmer to counter his vertical suplex attempt with a small package. Piper couldn't believe what happened after the match. RE-MATCH: Todd Sexton vs. Seth Skyfire Todd Sexton hits Seth Skyfire with a backdrop.[RE-MATCH]: Todd Sexton pinned Seth Skyfire with the Gamebreaker in 0:08:49. Rating: *** 1/2 Finally! Todd Sexton gets a victory over his former partner Seth Skyfire. This is something Sexton has been waiting for ever since he was attacked by Skyfire and Seth's then partner Romeo Roselli several months ago. Sexton celebrates his victory with the fans as Skyfire throws a fit in the ring. Batista & Brian "Crush" Adams vs. "Big Van" Vader & Warlord They lock up.Batista and Brian Adams defeated Vader and Warlord when Batista defeated Warlord by countout in 0:02:40. Rating: -* 1/4 Wow... just... wow. I don't think the fans have EVER really seen Batista be that brutal. He pulled away the thin layer of padding around the ring, which doesn't offer much in the way of protection anyway and gave the Warlord not one not two, but THREE Demon Bombs on the concrete! Warlord has NEVER been manhandled like that. Even Vader seemed a little taken aback as to what Batista was capable of. After the fans recovered from their shock they went bat shit for Batista, who got a smirk on his face as he looked in Vader's direction while the ref finished the ten count. Vader didn't even bother to push Warlord back into the ring or attack Batista. He just stood there and stared. One thing we can be almost positive of is that Vader isn't scared of Batista. Brutallity is not something you can use to make Vader turn tail and run. But he most definitely did NOT think Batista was capable of that. Hector Garza vs. Sylvain Grenier Sylvain Grenier runs into the ropes.Hector Garza pinned Sylvain Grenier after a moonsault bodyblock in 0:05:57. Rating: *** 3/4 Pretty good showing from Hector Garza. A lot of back and forth in the match and quite a few chants of "GARZA! GARZA" when he was on the receiving end. Kevin Nash & "The Angry Amish Chicken Plucker" Roadkill vs. The Hardcore Revolution ("The Enforcer" C.W. Anderson & "The Italian Monster" Tony Mamaluke) Roadkill takes Tony Mamaluke down with a shoulderbreaker. The Hardcore Revolution (C.W. Anderson and Tony Mamaluke) defeated Kevin Nash and Roadkill when Anderson pinned Roadkill with the Spinebuster Slam in 0:10:05. Rating: ** Anderson & Mamaluke did a good job of keeping Roadkill isolated after he got into the ring. He only got close to tagging out a few times. Anderson almost got himself DQed, but let go of a choke at the last second and hit a big spinebuster on a big man to get the win. Booker T vs. Ultimo Dragon Ultimo Dragon whips Booker T into the ropes.Ultimo Dragon pinned Booker T with the Dragon DDT in 0:06:50. Rating: *** After the match Dragon celebrates a little before helping Booker to his feet. He extends a hand for a handshake and Booker accepts it and raises Dragon's hand. The fans cheer both men and after a bit of celebrating Booker does a spinerooni and tries to get Ultimo to do one. He tries and kind of does one. The fans enjoy the show. Stacy Keibler is in the back in the interview area with an ASWA reporter. Reporter: Miss Keibler, it seems that the Scorpions have fallen on some hard times as of late, do you think they can turn things around for themselves? Stacy Keibler: The Scorpions may be down, but they are not out. We may not have the Great American title or the tag titles anymore, but those four men are still great atheletes and still have the drive and heart and the fan support to be able to capture all of the titles in the ASWA. Not only does Sting have a #1 contender's match tonight against the man who is arguably his biggest rival in the ASWA, but the Big Show will be facing Cactus Jack in the main event for the Heavyweight title. Cactus may be hardcore, but the Big Show is a mammoth of a man and it's hard for anyone to take him down, hardcore or not. R: Are you guaranteeing wins for all the Scorpions tonight? SK: I'm not in the business of guaranteeing wins. All I can say is that they've got all the tools they need to win, as you've seen sometimes things just don't end up in your favor, but I believe in these guys and I believe that they can win their matches and that tonight will be a turning point for the Scorpions. #1 CONTENDER MATCH: Sting vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart Sting whips Bret Hart into the ropes, but Bret Hart reverses it.Number-One-Contenders-Match: Sting made Bret Hart submit to the Scorpion Deathlock in 0:11:58. Rating: **** Sting did it! He defeated Bret Hart and with the Scorpion Deathlock no less. Now Sting is the #1 contender for the Heavyweight title currently held by Cactus Jack, though after tonight he could end up having to face fellow Scorpion the Big Show in his title match. GREAT AMERICAN TITLE MATCH: Chase Stevens vs. Rey Misterio Jr. (c) Chase Stevens whips Rey Misterio Jr. into the ropes.Rey Misterio Jr. pinned Chase Stevens with the Droppin' the Dime in 0:08:00. Rating: *** (Rey Misterio Jr. retained the ASWA Great American Championship title.) A good showing. Misterio was on the offensive a lot during the match. Stevens had a bit of offense as well, but could never quite come close to actually winning. We're shown the Scorpions locker room where Farmer, Show, and Quartermain are getting ready for their match as Stacy puts the finishing touches on her make up. Sting comes in. Sting: I just got back from talking to Commissioner Ventura and he's agreed to let me take your place in the 6-man tag match Big Show. Big Show: What? I can wrestle in that match. S: No Show, I want you to have all your energy conserved for the main event. You need to be able to give Cactus 100% and bring that title home. BS: *sigh* Yeah, you're right. I should be at the top of my game for my title shot. S: Come on guys, let's show everyone that the Scorpions are still the most dominant stable in the ASWA! The Scorpions (Sting, Buck Quartermain & "Cowboy" Jeff Farmer) vs. The Caribbean Cartel (Carlito & Jesus) & Gronda Jeff Farmer hits Carlito with a backbreaker. The Scorpions (Buck Quartermain, Jeff Farmer and Sting) defeated The Caribbean Cartel (Carlito and Jesus) and Gronda when Jeff Farmer pinned Carlito with the Lariat in 0:08:11. Rating: -1/2* Gronda spent most of the match on the apron due to his back injury from the Tijuana show. Even though he didn't need to take time off you could tell it still bothered him. Most of his in ring time was spent on the offensive, using brawling tactics. Perhaps Stacy Keibler was right in that tonight is a turning point for the Scorpions, The Big Shows confidence level must be high right now. SEMI-MAIN EVENT FOR THE TAG TEAM TITLES: Scott "Flash" Norton & "Harvard Graduate" Christopher Nowinski vs. Palumbo & Stamboli (c) Johnny Stamboli whips Scott Norton into the ropes, but Scott Norton reverses it.[SEMI-MAIN EVENT]: Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli defeated Scott Norton and Christopher Nowinski when Stamboli pinned Norton after the Kiss Of Death in 0:12:48. Rating: * 1/2 (Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli retained the ASWA Tag Team Championship titles.) Nowinski & Norton did NOT make a good team as neither wanted to partner with the other and it really showed. It seems that even with all the singles wins Nowinski holds over Norton that he is still a bit afraid of him and was always hesitant to tag out or in because of it. Norton was also not happy about having to team with his rival who holds three singles wins over him in ASWA. He was also not happy that Nowinski left him high and dry towards the end of the match even though the ASWA tag team titles were on the line. MAIN EVENT FOR THE HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: The Big Show vs. Cactus Jack (c) Cactus Jack sends The Big Show into the turnbuckle.[MAIN EVENT]: Cactus Jack pinned The Big Show with the Double Arm DDT in 0:09:29. Rating: *** 1/4 (Cactus Jack retained the ASWA Heavyweight Championship title.) Well, the Big Show couldn't get the job done against Cactus, but the Scorpions have another chance at getting it done lined up with Sting being the #1 Contender. The PPV fades out with Cactus Jack celebrating in the ring over the still down Big Show and daring Sting to "Take his title away" Card rating: ** 1/4 [hr] Match observations: -- ASWA NEWSLINE -- - Buck Quartermain's contract has expired and he has decided not to renew it due to his position within the company. |
americamamushi | Posted on 07/07/05 at 09:12:39 It's time to gear up for the ASWA's next pay-per-view which will be live from the Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in New York. Here's some of the great matches already scheduled for the event... - Buck Quartermain & Jeff Farmer will team up to face Stevens & Skyfire in Buck Quartermain's last ASWA match. - Booker T vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper - Jimmy Jacobs vs. Vader. What kind of mental state will Vader be in after what happened to his partner at the hands of Batista during the last PPV? - Tag team champions Palumbo & Stamboli will put their titles up against against the odd coupling of Scott Norton & Christopher Nowinski - The Official #1 Contender Sting will face former Great American champion Gronda - Hector Garza vs. Sylvain Grenier - Rey Misterio Jr. was offered a non-title match, but wanted to be a fighting champion, so he will defend his belt against Jon Dahmer. - ASWA Heavyweight champion Cactus Jack will square off against a mystery opponent in a non-title match. - Following Cactus' non-title match, he'll defend his title in a 4-corners match in which he has guaranteed victory so that he is the one Sting will face in his title shot. The 4-corners match will feature Ron Killings, Christian and another mysterious new comer that is said will make a phenominal impact on the ASWA. - But that's not all, Cactus Jack has volunteered to wrestle a THIRD match! It will feature the Hardcore Revolution and special guest Raven wrestling the Demonauts in their big reunion teaming with special guests King Kong Bundy, Nathan Jones and Kamala in a 10-man tag team I quit match. - Finally it has JUST been officially signed (and the ink is still wet) that Batista and Bret Hart will face off in the main event in a two out of three falls match! |
