Low Ki and Rey Mysterio defeated
Los Guerreros (Chavo Classic and Mando Guerrero) when Ki defeated Classic by
countout in 0:07:38.
Rating: **

Rey Mysterio and Low Ki got themselves a chance to home their game somewhat
before crucial title shots at Fall Brawl - Mysterio taking on Intercontinental
champion Brad Armstrong and Low Ki getting his rematch with Cruiserweight
champion Hector Guerrero. The two of them were paired off tonight to face a
couple of guys they had no love for, Mando and Chavo Classic of Los Guerreros.
The brothers had the advantage of knowing what each other was thinking and
used the advantage as such, as well as adopting the "speak a foreign language
(Spanish) so the opponent doesn't know what you're saying to one another"
tactic. Still, no dice tonight, with Chavo falling awkwardly to the outside
during an exchange with Low Ki and hurting his knee to the extent where he
got counted out. Shame the match, which had been picking up a lot of pace, had
to end on an anticlimatic note, but a victory is a victory and Rey and Low Ki
have themselves momentum. The good news is that Chavo appeared to only jar his
knee and won't be missing any time.

Sean O'Haire pinned Hunter Hearst-Helmsley with the Seanton Bomb in 0:05:04.
Rating: ** 3/4

Sean O'Haire took on former champion Hunter Hearst-Helmsley today and looked
more impressive than ever. Helmsley put up a decent resistance, but O'Haires
crushing victory reminded everyone of just how good a singles wrestler he is,
being a former IC champion. One man who wasn't impressed was Kurt Angle, who
later said in an interview that beating Helmsley in double quick time was one
thing, but he wouldn't be able to touch the Olympic gold medal winner, or even
get close to him without Angle wrenching all manner of O'Haires body parts out
of position. And Angle called O'Haire a commie bastard too - no need for THAT
Kurt.

Brian Pillman did have congratulations for O'Haire who was also quick to tout
the impressive victory - and I don't think we can emphasise enough how good
O'Haire was today. And yet Pillman constantly praised O'Haire with mention of
how O'Haire is a former Intercontinental champion. Over and over again. Is he
perhaps slightly jealous, having never tasted singles gold himself in the
seven years he's been in the DWF? Has he forgotten the two of them are the tag
team champions and defend their titles next week against the Rock'n'Roll
Express? Whatever is going through his head, we don't know. Chris Jericho
better be wary come Fall Brawl - just because they're both fan favourites
doesn't mean they'll be holding back. In fact, I think we can safely say they
will be trying to tear one another apart.

Speaking of that tag title match, Pretty Perfect had some words of
encouragement for Morton and Gibson. Why, you ask, seeing as the two teams are
hated rivals and feuded over the belts for so long before the Express finally
won the feud, and the belts, to end Pretty Perfects record breaking title
reign? Obviously it relates to the fact Pretty Perfect are banned from
receiving any title shots until Psychoanalysis drop the belts (and are banned
from interfering in any tag title matches to assist in a title change), so
are desperate to get another crack at the gold. The Express have no love for
Pretty Perfect whatsoever and took their well wishes with a pinch of salt,
before going back to doing their hair.

Handicap-Match:
Gene Snitsky & Heidenreich (Gene Snitsky and Heidenreich) defeated Jody Fleisch
when Snitsky pinned J. Fleisch with the Baby Boomer in 0:07:03.
Rating: ***

Matt Hardy clearly enjoyed last weeks massacre that Jody Fleisch endured and
made matters ten times worse today as he was thrown into another handicap
match against Hardys personal bodyguards Gene Snitsky and Heidenreich. Still
afraid that someone would try something, Hardy accompanied them to the ring
and held firm to his boys corner, but was able to relax as Fleisch got
obliterated, as you'd expect under such pressure. There were still bruises on
Fleisch from last weeks match, how bad will he look now?

Hardy didn't have time to gloat as, with he and his bodyguards all in the ring,
nobody was minding Hardys office. And up on the video wall popped The Young
Lions who were in the said office with some mysteries to solve. The first
mystery they wanted solving - what does Hardy keep in those drawers in his
desk? Officer Matthews then pulled out piles of fetish pornography magazines.
Hardy look bewildered at seeing that. Then they had the mystery of why the
DWF's phone bills are always so high. Matthews started looking at copies of
the previous months phone bill when Inspector York had the idea of trying
redial on Matts phone to see if he was the source of the trouble - and we
distinctly heard a voice welcoming us to "kinky gay chat". Matt was absolutely
freaking out and denying everything, but the Lions weren't bothered. One can
assume they planted all this just to embarass Hardy, but embarass they did
(they also left empty bottles of booze lying around which were supposed to
be Hardys - at least I ASSUME it was the Lions who planted them there).

John Cena pinned Jonathan Coachman with the Eighth Deadly Sin in 0:05:53.
Rating: 1/4*

Jonathan Coachman begged and begged and finally he got his wish - a chance to
prove his wrestling expertise to protege Larry Zbyszko, as well as all the
cynics, as he got himself a match with John Cena. With Cena having made a bit
of a fool out of Coach lately, Coach was desperate for a little retribution
for himself and Larry. And despite Larry accompanying him to ringside, it was
no good. Coach got plastered around the ring, plain and simple. When Cena got
him in position for the Eighth Deadly Sin, Zbyszko charged but Cena, still
holding Coach up, was able to delivered a couple of kicks to the midsection,
sending Larry back out. Finally Cena delivered the move and scored the easy
win. Then, because he's evil and it was totally unnecessary, he gave Coach a
wedgie.

Bobby Eaton pinned Juventud Guerrera with the Alabama Jam in 0:07:27.
Rating: *** 1/4

Bobby Eaton got himself a well deserved win today. The two time television
champion took on the DWF veteran Juventud Guerrera and scored the victory with
his patented Alabama Jam. 2007 has had its ups and downs for Eaton, but this
win couldn't have come at a better time for this outstanding individual. He
looked in good form, and showed why he is so highly regarded by all. Kudos.

Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon (Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon) defeated
The Syndicate (Lance Storm and Ken Shamrock) when Furnas pinned L. Storm after
a German suplex in 0:12:59.
Rating: **** 1/4

The Syndicate are getting their rematch at La Resistance in two weeks, and
having condemned the French pair today for being a pair of fakes who are
trying to be something they're not, took on Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon. Quite
a match-up here with both teams being former champs, but it was a run-in from
La Resistance that swung the balance and aided Furnas and LaFon to victory.
And boy did they gloat afterwards - what a pair of jerks. As for La Resistance,
they condemned the Syndicate for not making America proud. If it wasn't for
the fact they're French, Kurt Angle would love these guys.

Eddie Guerrero pinned La Parka Jr. with the Frog Splash in 0:10:36.
Rating: *** 3/4

Eddie Guerrero found himself in a tough spot today as he took on the ever
wild La Parka, complete with all his dancing and wiggling to irritate his
opponent. Eddie wasn't appreciating what La Parka brought to the dance (no pun
intended) and showed a hint of that "latino heat" temperament. Still, Eddie
isn't a former Intercontinental champion for nothing, and was able to score
the duke in a somewhat fortunate victory, ever the opportunist.

Eddies night wasn't entirely over however - celebrating the win, he began
talking with his brothers about the number he was going to do to Rey Mysterio
on Sunday, be it before, during or after Reys title match. Quickly enough,
reigning IC champ Brad Armstrong who defends the title against Rey in two
weeks, got notice of what was said and tracked down Eddie Guerrero. Using all
his stolen catchphrases, "The Rock" told Eddie that if he so much had any
bearing on the outcome of the title match, he would find a sombrero, turn it
sideways and stick it straight up Eddies candy ass, and then he'd turn Eddie
sideways and stick him up all his brothers asses too. Brad was hot as well, he
wasn't having any chicanery in his business, and he well and truly looked like
he was serious. Once again, Brad has a verbal sparring with a fellow "heel",
especially when Eddie tried to plead his case at first. It would almost seem
these days that he's spending more time bitching with the bad guys than
fighting the good guys. Hmmmmm...

Billy Kidman pinned Dynamite Kid with the Shooting Star Press in 0:14:54.
Rating: *****

Dynamite Kids roll into Fall Brawl and his shot at Don Muracos world
heavyweight title took a blow today as he suffered defeat at the hands of
Billy Kidman. Kidman and Corino, as far as they are concerned, are taking Fall
Brawl off, and certainly Kidman may have some claim to having earnt some time
off with this one, but he can lay a degree of the thanks down to Don Muraco.

Kidman and Dynamite traded the world title a few months back, and the two
showed that there was no love lost whatsoever, but the initial problem for
Dynamite was the presense of Steve Corino loitering at ringside and making a
pest of himself, until finally out strolled Raven. Corino noticed him and
gritted his teeth, as Raven stood in the aisle and stared Corino down, whilst
officials flooded past him to finally eject Corino. Raven evidently there
watching Dynamites back with the intention of making sure he's 100% when he
takes on Muraco in two weeks.

Raven too was evicted from proceedings, leaving Dynamite and Kidman to tangle
alone and Dynamite was on a flurry. And now out came Don Muraco. One ref bump
later, Muraco was able to blast Dynamite across the head with the belt. Almost
apologetically, Kidman was able to deliver the Shooting Star Press and score a
cheap win. But then, the former champ always seemed to get the right sort of
help from the right sort of places, ergo another win for Billy Kidman, and
credit to him - despite the cheapness of the way the match was won, he put up
a terrific fight and the match itself was an instant classic, and who can
really deny either man a victory after that (other than Muraco, apparently)?

Card rating: *** 1/2

Match observations:

Alex Wright had a few choice words for Raven on the Kings Court today, slating
him as your typical lazy individual who thinks he looks cool by being all
mysterious and brooding, but doesn't really have the discipline and
organisation required to be a man like Wright or Ulf Herman, and at Fall
Brawl, Herman would show why it is that this "new reich" will always succeed
over people like Raven.

Just a couple of notes. First off, the main was actually the first time I've ever had a match that short get the full monty. Fifteen minutes seems to be a bogey time for me with matches even a few seconds below never breaking **** 1/4 and anything a few seconds over often hitting the **** 1/2+ mark, and when you consider I always keep my TV matches, bar the odd exception, below fifteen minutes... anyway, nice to have a change.

Also, I botched the Low Ki/Rey/Guerreros match. It was supposed to end with Low Ki pinning whomever, but I missed the 'Restart' button and accidentally ended the match. Luckily the right guy went over anyway and it was easy to explain an otherwise lame ending... oh well, no big deal.

Well thank goodness Chavo Classic is all right! Hehe.

O'Haire with a win over the former DWF World champion, and Pillman's constant mentioning of O'Haire's singles accolades is a neat little addition to this ever-compelling storyline.  And to get a mullet that good, you know Ricky Morton has to be working on it constantly.  He should start bringing a comb and hairspray to the ring to have mid-match stylings, when he's not pulling a Ricky Morton in the match (oh, the irony).

Fleisch almost dies again.  And those zany Young Lions!

I'm surprised the Coach lasted even as long as he did.

Good win for Eaton.  I sense his retirement soon?

Syndicate don't do much in terms of building momentum going into the P-P-V.  You and your damn seconardly tag titles.  Grrrr. :)

Eddie with a good win, and "The Rock" gets cooler and cooler every week.  He needs to line up all of DWF and give them a huge Stooge slap.

Dynamite Kid doesn't do much to help his momentum with his title shot on the horizon either.  Very impressive with the ***** main event though.  Well done, mein Freund.

PPV looks good thus far.  More at 11!
