I'm really happy to see London win the title. I'm somewhat surprised to see a 40 minute cruiserweight match involving the likes which you put against each other with no more than 2 stars.. maybe Critic's point about low-pushed wrestlers are more valid than I thought... other than that, good show and can't wait to see you post the rulesheet.

Have been thinking of creating a rulesheet of my own based around a Hardcore fed, but in between running 2 promotions and an Umbrella, creating exports for TNM UK and trying to study for my exam, time isn't readily available.

June 15 2005 Preview:

Two of the Three Titles have been decided. Now it is left to decide the tag team titles and a four team tournament will decide the fate of the Global Tag Team Titles.

In the First Semifinal Round Match, American Dragon and Sonjay Dutt will face MNM. MNM beat Sonjay and Tajiri two weeks ago but now Sonjay has a new partner and MNM's goose may be cooked as of this week.

The Second Semifinal Match is a little be odd. The duo of Rodney Mack and Gene Snitsky will face The Havana Pitbulls. The Pitbulls have yet to lose a match in GWE but then again, they have only had two of them.

We have word that a very dangerous wrestler will be in the house and he will get a tryout match to prove his stripes. We understand he wants to come after the champion Samoa Joe and could be a big threat. We cannot say who this is but you will be pleasantly surprised once this wrestler comes out.

Speaking of Samoa Joe, he will defend the title against Hardcore Holly. Hardcore Holly laid out Joe with the championship belt last week and the Big Samoan is just a little ticked at Hardcore. This will be the first time the Global World Title will be defended and Hardcore Holly told us at Global Wrestling Empire Headquarters that he vows to make the reign of Samoa Joe short lived.

That is not the only title at stake. Paul London will defend his newly acquired Global X-Division Title. While we don't know of his opponent yet, you better believe that Paul London will put in a hundred and ten percent effort.

That is not to discount the main event which will feature Colt Cabana and Charlie Haas to face the duo of Rob Van Dam and Billy Gunn. Haas and Van Dam have butted heads over the past couple of weeks and Billy Gunn wants to make an impact in the Global Wrestling Empire to prove that he is a superstar.

We will see you at Ringside!

Good stuff.  I'm buyin' what your sellin' with Gunn.  Seemed like a weak finish for the match though.

I think Holly/Joe has potential.  And what happened just proves what I've been telling people for years: You just can't trust wrestlers whose gimmick used to be a racecar driver. ;)

I was rooting for Jimmy in the X-Division title match, but London is a good results too.

MAYBE?  Of course my point is valid.  Of course, wrestler heat is a factor as well.  If the crowd doesn't care about a wrestler, the match suffers as a result.  This frequently results in the first 2-4 cards of a new circuit being mediocre at best, because none of the wrestlers have established any more than the default heat yet, and accordingly the midcarders and openers will have an extremely difficult time catching the crowd's attention.  With that in mind, if you're going to have a seperate cruiserweight division, push the wrestlers in it!  Bigger pushes also seem to help wrestlers to get heat faster as well, so it's a very useful way to build a strong secondary division quickly.

Yeah, but I never really knew that push had anything do to with ratings until you breached the subject. So, rating-wise, you should push the X-champion to 100.. but then he would probably quit because he isn't getting the World Title, right? It's all a delicate situation...
Maybe the random crowd didn't like cruiser action... I have found that hardocre matches are generally higher rated than cruiser matches... regardless of push...

Not necessarily.  You don't have to give him a push of 100.  But something in the 90 range for the top stars of your secondary division is probably about right.  70 or 80 is probably about right for the rest with the exception of your absolute lowest jobbers.

The random crowd is possibly a factor, yes.  However, I'll bet that you tend to use higher pushed wrestlers in your Hardcore matches as well - Main Eventers compete in street fights all the time, after all.  And gimmick matches by their very nature tend to be exciting and to cover the weaknesses of those competing in them - Cruiserweight Matches are not gimmick matches, they're just regular matches featuring smaller wrestlers.  Basically, my point is two wrestlers without significant heat or pushes aren't gonig to come across as anything more than filler, even if they have talent.  **3/4 isn't a crappy match... it's a very solid match that's missing something that keeps it from being good.  In this case, the problem was likely the crowd not giving a damn about the guys working their butts off.
