moving tnm from one comp to another?

.....Hey Hey - I seem to remember a (long) while ago that we discussed this topic here, and, now that it's relevant to me - I can't seem to find it - I've tried going back through all the various pages and threads, but I'm not finding it - whether I'm (consistantly) overlokking it - or not looking for it in the right place - I'm not sure but anyways.....

.....I seem to remeber something about copying a backup and then moving that to the new tnm on the new computer - but like I said - I'm not sure of how to do it - any help or suggestions??

your best bet is to make your backup, but then move the ENTIRE TNM folder to the new computer that you want to move TNM to.

Just move your whole TNM folder over. I switch various TNMs back and forth between a desktop and laptop all the time.

I'd like to add a few notes on this having had to recover from several PC disasters.

1. Do a backup of your TNM and then copy the backup file to a location off the hard drive on which your main install is located (this is basic data security).
2. I'm sure this is what both previous posters meant but just to clarify, don't move, but instead copy your entire TNM folder to the new computer. That way if something went wrong with the data transfer you would still have the original install to try again.
3. In fact, I would recommend regularly copying your TNM install to a separate drive or some sort of backup medium. You never know when trouble will occur.

If you do have a disaster and have to do a completely new install of TNM, after you do the new install  and have re-entered your registration codes (You do have them in a safe place, right?) simply do a backup of the new install, rename a copy of the backup of your old install to the exact same name of the new install's backup and copy it to the new install's backup directory, overwriting the new install's backup. Then simply restore the backup in TNM and you should be ready to go.
