Saturday Fight Night Episode #2
Broxbourne Civic Hall
Your commentary team is Adam Wheeler and Chris Freeman.

The Saturday Fight Night opening titles rolled and were followed with a highlights package reminding everyone what happened in the opening round of matches in Groups C and D of the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament. The scene opened inside the Broxbourne Civic Hall where the masked behemoth Ben Winter was making his way down to the ring. Winter was frustrated at only coming away with a draw against Devon Ferrari last week and was looking to get back on track tonight against the sneaky Jason Prentice. Prentice appeared at the entrance way with his arm in a sling and a dejected look on his face. Linda O'Neil was by his side as ever, offering whatever tender loving care she could. Play-by-play man Chris Freeman and everyone in attendance were not buying Prentice's "injury", as he was still selling the effects of Muerte de Antedicho's Fujiwara armbar which he passed out to last week - or "feel asleep" in, if you believe Prentice!

"Picture Perfect" gingerly stepped through the ropes and took the microphone. He claimed that his arm was in excruciating pain as a result of last week's match and he asked Winter if he would feel good about himself if he beat up a guy with only one working arm. Prentice claimed that he respected Winter and called him a stand-up kind of guy. He said that he knew they could be friends and, as a generous act of friendship, offered to split the points with Winter and they could go home and be fresh for next week's final round of matches. Winter cocked his head to the side, seemingly considering the offer, before advancing towards the Perfect One. Prentice began to panic and begged Winter to delay the match by a week instead, giving his arm more time to heal. Again Winter was disinterested, refusing to be taking in by this pathetic act. Prentice continued to beg off and when referee Alex Fletcher stepped in between the two men, Prentice popped Winter with the microphone and the match started!

[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group C, Round 2]:
Ben Winter and Jason Prentice battled to a draw in 0:15:00.
Rating: * 3/4

Match analysis:
Jason Prentice immediately tore off his sling and choked Winter with it, proving what everyone knew all along - his arm injury was a hoax. But Prentice is all about cutting corners and taking short-cuts. His early offence had no effect on the big man and as he tore and ripped away at Winter's mask, The Iceman pressed him up over his head and dropped him hard on the canvas. Prentice tried a roll up and held onto the ropes, but the official saw it and threatened him with disqualification. The Perfect One went close with a T-Bone suplex, while later Prentice escaped a pinfall after a powerslam at 2 and seven eighths. As the time ran down, Prentice kept trying to escape Winter and walk out, but Winter repeatedly dragged him back into the squared circle. The Iceman even took out Linda O'Neil to a large roar from the crowd! The time limit expired and Prentice had survived, gaining an undeserved point in the process. Winter will be kicking himself; he should have taken the count out victory, but it appears that Prentice has outsmarted him.

Next up in Group C was the bout between Muerte de Antedicho and Devon Ferrari. The high-flying Antedicho was victorious against Jason Prentice last week, while Ferrari drew with Ben Winter. A win for the Spaniard will see him through, but that will not be easy against "Everybody's Favourite Wrestler", who has even more self-confidence as a result of his match with The Iceman.

[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group C, Round 2]:
Devon Ferrari pinned Muerte de Antedicho after the Ocean Cyclone Suplex in
          0:07:25.
Rating: ** 3/4

Match analysis:
This was a very good encounter that really could have gone either way. Antedicho hit a lovely Diamond Dust style manoeuvre and applied the Fujiwara armbar. This time, Ferrari was able to break the hold and he blasted Antedicho with an electric chair drop. He followed that with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and a dangerous top-rope DDT, but Antedicho would not give it up. Ferrari got his knees in the way of Antedicho's standing moonsault. After a slingshot into another DDT, Ferrari put the Spaniard away with an amazing Ocean Cyclone Suplex. Ferrari moves on to four points while Antedicho stays on three.

It was time for Group D to enter round two, with an entertaining match in prospect between Migraine and Jawaid "2 Sleeq" Kaleeq. Migraine lost a close encounter with Luke Champion last week, while Kaleeq scored somewhat of an upset against former Heavyweight Champion Hiro Kakuhari. Migraine is well aware that defeat will eliminate him, so he is hoping to give Kaleeq a major headache in this one! Sorry.

[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group D, Round 2]:
Migraine pinned Jawaid Kaleeq after a top-rope Frankensteiner in 0:02:02.
Rating: ***

Match analysis:
This contest was fought at a frenetic pace and Migraine was obviously not being paid by the hour. He overwhelmed Kaleeq with a snap suplex, a swinging DDT and a tremendous Asai moonsault. Kaleeq attempted a German suplex, but Migraine was able to block it and soon put Kaleeq away with a top-rope Frankensteiner in just over a couple of minutes. Kaleeq will be devastated - after such a huge win last week, to lose in this manner will be spirit-crushing.

***Commercial break***

Hiro Kakuhari appeared for his match-up with Luke Champion looking very focused, determined to put last week's loss behind him. He is desperate to recapture the championship that he once held with such pride. Champion was superb last week against Migraine, but while his opponent this week is again unpredictable, Kakuhari is always extremely dangerous.

[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group D, Round 2]:
Hiro Kakuhari pinned Luke Champion with the Rising Star Suplex in 0:11:09.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match analysis:
In a match that was not without controversy, Kakuhari took the win and in doing so tied everyone up in Group D with three points each! After one minute had elapsed, Champion scored a very close two count with a wheelbarrow suplex. Kakuhari chopped the living hell out of The Legacy, who came back with a series of near falls. Kakuhari displayed how resilient he is here, frustrating Champion. Luke Champion nearly won it with a Death Valley Driver, but Kakuhari got his foot on the rope. Champion then accidentally wiped out the referee when Kakuhari pulled the official in front of a missile dropkick attempt. Kakuhari blinded Champion with the mist and then hit the Rising Star Suplex, but there was no ref to count the fall! However, referee Mike Warren slid into the ring to replace the original official and he registered the three count, so Kakuhari emerged victorious!

Hehe.. fell asleep in the armbar.. priceless excuse from a good heel..

I like your "short" time limits.. as the 1 point for a draw seems pointless in "normal" TNM. When does a draw occur in WWE?? Never..

What have you set on match length to compensate for this? If I may ask..

Group D looks awfully even.. I'm rootin for Kakuhari to win.. for some reason.

After several trial runs, I figured that the best typical match length to use was 7 as it gave a nice blend of draws and wins, making the tournament more interesting.
