Rating: ** 1/2

Marty Jannetty came out and got on the microphone saying that he needed to make up for his long string of losses he has had, mainly against El Dandy. He told all the "jabronies" to stay in the back and called out a world class athlete. Johnny Smith, who appeared for the first time at last month's show, answered the challenge. Jannetty accepted Smith as his challenger and the two went at it. Jannetty tried very hard to keep the advantage in this one, but he just could not. Smith seemed to have a lot more fight in him and a lot more determination. Plus, the fans were getting behind Smith more than they were Jannetty and this seemed to aggrivate Jannetty. It was distracting him more than it should have been and this could have been the downfall. It got so bad that in the end of the match, he was nearly couned out due to jawjacking with a fan at ringside. Upon returning, he was able to kick out of a German suplex pin and a flying bodypress pin, but he couldn't escape the Fisherman Suplex. Smith is the winner.

It was about time Cincinnati Pro had a Battle Royal and what a Battle Royal it was! This was like the melting pot of Battle Royals. U.S.A., Central America, Japan, and even Russia were all represented here! The winner will definatly be considered for a Top Contendor's match in the future and the winner was Damian 666. Jinsei Shinzaki had the crowd behind him, but Damian was willing to do anything to win this match. This only being his second appearance in Cincinnati Pro, he was looking to make a big impact in some way. When it came down to it, Damian brought his trusty Cane into the Battle Royal and used it to help him catch Shinzaki off guard with a low blow and eliminate him for the win.

(Cut scene in a room in the back... Christopher Nowinski is returning from being eliminated from the Battle Royal and is about to approach Mark Henry who is preparing for the Main Event tonight...)

Christopher Nowinski: You see, Mark. I barely even broke a sweat out there... now I can be your partner in the main event...

Mark Henry: Barely broke a sweat? Yeah, that's because you were only out there for a minute!! And don't try to tell me you did that on purpose because I saw the tape... you were TRYING to win the match. As far as the main event goes, I told you, I've got a partner...

Christopher Nowinski: But Mark!! What about old times!!? When me and you team up and destroy teams!?

Mark Henry: Excuse me... I think *I* destroy the teams... you pick your shots...

Christopher Nowinski: Mark, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't even be getting all of this attention...

Mark Henry: If it wasn't for *me* you would be getting your ass kicked on a nightly basis just like tonight!

Christopher Nowinski: ... Fine! I hope your partner let's you down!! Because you know I wouldn't!!

Mark Henry: Trust me... he won't let me down...

(Back to the ring and we're preparing for our two Top Contendor Tournament Matches. Four men are scheduled to compete, but only two have been announced. Out first is The Patriot to a great ovation, followed by Hayabusa. But who are the other two? La Resistance music plays and Sylvain Grenier comes out!! He was just here two months ago! Him and Rob Conway wrestled and DEFEATED The Patriot and Chris Hero! Who's the other participant in the tournament?! "Man In The Box" by Alice In Chains blares on and the crowd erupts! TOMMY DREAMER IS IN THE HOUSE!! It's time to find out the matches. Two men will wrestle while the other two will watch. Immediatly following the match, the other two men will begin their match. Then later in the night, the two winners will meet to find out the new Top Contendor.)

Well, it was the good 'ole U.S.A. representative facing the always arrogant French. These two met two months ago at Running The Gauntlet and in a tag team match and Grenier's team won! Tonight, however, was a different story. Although Grenier got his shots in, he was no match for The Patriot. The Patriot has way more experience and way more raw strength than Grenier. In the end, The Patrot summed up one big burst of power and unleashed it on Grenier topping it off with the Uncle Slam for the win! The Patriot will wrestle again later tonight in the Top Contendor's match! Following the match, while The Patriot was posing for the fans, Grenier nailed him from behind with the French flag! Hayabusa and Tommy Dreamer jumped in the ring and ran Grenier off. Once The Patriot was okay, he walked to the back and we were ready to start our next match.

Rating: ***

For only a 3 minute match, these two put a LOT into it! Dreamer managed to bust Hayabusa wide open with brass knuckles sparking a brief "ECW, ECW" chant. Dreamer's downfall was that he went at Hayabusa way too fast and he ran out of gas early. Hayabusa was able to withstand the punishment until Dreamer wore himself down. That's when Hayabusa took Dreamer down with a spinning leg lariat and followed it up with the Stardust Press for the win! The two shook hands following the match and the Top Contendor's Match is going to be The Patriot against Hayabusa for the Top Contendorship!

The Elite (A-Train, Alexander Otsuka, and Josh Abercrombie) defeated Mike Awesome, Rick Martel, and Vader when Otsuka made Martel submit to the Jujigatame in 0:12:45.
Rating: ** 1/2

Last month Vader fell at the hands of Josh Abercrombie but only due to outside interference from A-Train. Vader, wanting to avenge this match, challenged The Elite members to this six-man tag team match. Vader chose long time friend and Cincinnati Pro partner, Mike Awesome, and former Strike Force member, Rick Martel. The Elite focused on Martel for most of the match trying anything to pin him or get him to submit. Vader & Awesome were always there, though, to make the save. Once those two got in the ring, The Elite were on the offensive and couldn't get the momentum back. Finally, the referee lost control as all 6-men were battling it out! Vader and Abercrombie were brawling on the floor while Awesome and A-Train had spilled into the front row and were dueling chairs! This left Otsuka and Martel alone in the ring enabling Otsuka to lock in various submissions until Martel was forced to tap out to the Jujigatame!

Ahmed Johnson pinned Jimmy Jacobs after a spinebuster slam in 0:01:58.
Rating: * 1/4

Jimmy Jacobs went about this matchup all wrong. First, he's at a size disadvantage. Ahmed is bigger and stronger than Jacobs. Someone at a disadvantage like this shouldn't go at Ahmed from a technical standpoint and work a wristlock. Jacobs paid for the mistake. Following the wristlocks, Ahmed unleashed a series of high impact moves that Jacobs probably doesn't even remember happening. He was out! Ahmed finished the match with a spinebuster slam.

Rating: * 1/2
[Ahmed Johnson interfered against Mosh.]
[Ahmed Johnson interfered against Chris Leben.]

This had the potential of being a great match but it was ruined by Vicious & Delicious's third man, Ahmed Johnson. Ahmed came to ring with a chair at sat in the corner of Vicious & Delicious. But then for no reason, he lays into Chris Leben forcing the disqualification! The referee had no choice but to award the victory to Chris Hero & Chris Leben and this infuriated the other teams! Chris Hero jumped outside of the ring and started attacking Ahmed, while the ICP and the Headbangers actually worked together in putting a beating on Norton & Bagwell. Finally, Norton, Bagwell, & Ahmed escaped ringside and headed for the back. Chris Hero then helped his partner to his feet. In the ring, the ICP and the Headbangers just looked at each other. They have a history... and then they started brawling!! They had to be pulled apart! What a mess this match was! So our new Top Contendors for the Tag Team Championship are Chris Hero & Chris Leben.

Words cannot describe the heat generated in this match (actually, words DID describe the heat generated in this match... but anyways). This is without a doubt the single best match thus far in Cincinnati Pro. These two fought with EVERYTHING! If Becky Bayless at ringside wasn't bad enough, A-Train also came down to aid the champion. Seeing this, Damian 666 came out to even the odds a bit. EVERYONE got involved in this one! Referee Tommy Schalk could have thrown this match out at any time but he knew the importance and he kept it going. Both wrestlers kicked out of each other's finishers numerous times. El Dandy was practically blinded by his own blood but he managed to keep on fighting. Bayless got in the ring on more than one occassion and nailed El Dandy with a chair but even that couldn't keep El Dandy down. By the end of the match, neither man could hardly stand. While the referee was arguing with Bayless, Damian slid in the ring and dropped Stryker with a DDT and pulled Dandy on top. The referee counted but Stryker somehow kicked out! Both men got to their feet but were soon knocked back down with a double clothesline. As both men got up, Dandy pulling himself up by the ropes, the barely had anything left. Dandy staggered around into the Stryker Driver and that was all she wrote! After filling the ring with debris, the fans stood and clapped in appreciation.

Rating: **** 1/4

This was another extremely awesome match! Both of these men won their matches earlier in the evening and were going into this with momentum. However, both men were showing the signs of the matches they previously had. While The Patriot's match was much longer, Hayabusa's was more brutal and he still had the dry blood on his face and mask to prove it. From the opening moments of the match all the way to the finish this match was back and forth with neither man getting an edge over the other. Hayabusa continually tried his speed and high flying tactics while The Patriot was always looking to ground Hayabusa with his power. In the end, Hayabusa was able to hit a devastating shooting star press to get the win and secure himself as the Top Contendor for the CP Tri-State Heavyweight Championship!

(Our next match is the one that most everyone came to see. The grudge match between Tazz & Dean Malenko. While these two have only been at each other's throats the last few months in Cincinnati Pro, the rivalry between these two has gone on for over ten years! Tazz blames Dean Malenko for breaking his neck a decade ago while the two were in ECW and claimes that ever since, Malenko has been ducking him. Well, tonight is the night. Tazz's music plays and he comes out first. The towel is over his head... he's got his gear on... he looks more focused than ever. Then Malenko's music hits and a roar goes over the crowd. As we wait for Malenko's arrival, Tazz stands in the corner with his arms crossed staring into the aisleway. Minutes go by and still no Dean Malenko. The music cuts off, the crowd boos, and Tazz grabs a microphone... )

Tazz: You see... once again Dean Malenko is ducking me! Tonight was judgement night for him and he new that he would be humiliated that he would rather not show up than be choked out by me! You better give me someone to choke out tonight or I ain't leavin' this ring!

(Immediatly, Tommy Dreamer, who is, for all we know, here for just one-night only and already had a match tonight against Hayabusa. He slides in the ring and starts unloading on Tazz... a referee calls for the bell and we've got ourselves a match!)

Rating: ** 1/4
(Dean Malenko no-showed.)

This was a throwback to the old ECW days! Tommy Dreamer was a house of fire and just unloaded with lefts and rights, but Tazz was able to nail some suplexes to slow Dreamer's momentum. Everytime Dreamer tried to take the fight to the floor, Tazz would slide back into the ring to avoid brawling with a Dreamer. In the end it took THREE suplexes in a row, a bridging back suplex, a Northern Lights suplex, and a tiger suplex, all for only two counts, and then one final devastating forearm smash to keep Dreamer down for a three count....

(As soon as the bell rang, DEAN MALENKO CAME RUNNING DOWN THE AISLE!! His shirt was torn halfway off and he looked like he had already been in a fight! Malenko slid in the ring and was able to get his hands on Tazz! He started pummeling Tazz while referee Tommy Schalk tried to pull him off. Dean grabbed the referee and threw him out of the ring and then continued beating on Tazz eventually splitting Tazz wide open. Malenko then slid to the floor and grabbed a chair. Tazz was on his feet groggy and began backing up. Malenko got back in the ring and stalked Tazz with the chair. Tazz then charged at Malenko, but Malenko moved out of the way and when Tazz turned around, Malenko KO'd him with the chair!! Malenko then got on the microphone...)

Dean Malenko: TAZZ!! You jump me in the back and beat me so badly that they wanted to take me to the hospital! Then you come out here and tell these people I'm ducking *you*!! Next month, we settle this! SUBMISSION MATCH!! There is no ducking out of this one, Tazz, and know this... when I get you in the ring, there will be no remorse and I will have no regret for what I will do to you! You WILL tap out, Tazz!!

(Malenko threw the microphone down and helped Dreamer to the back! The fans were cheering as loud as ever!)

Rating: ** 1/2

The fans were in shock when they saw that Mark Henry has chosen Ron Simmons to be his tag team partner for the match! Simmons has been retired from wrestling for a few years now and no one had thought he would ever return! He made a big name for himself in the WWE as Faarooq and went on to win the Tag Team Titles with Bradshaw as the A.P.A. However, his biggest accomplishment was becoming the first African-American World Champion as he defeated Big Van Vader in 1992 to win the WCW World Championship! The match was on if there was ever a clubbering in wrestling, this was it! While Simmons may not have been in the best shape and may have been a little rusty, it didn't matter because for the most part, this was a fight and not a wrestling match. Al Snow as the only one trying any real wrestling holds, but he was easily shut down by the two powerhouses Henry & Simmons. It wasn't technically the best match of the night, but the fans were loving every moment of it as they were looking to see who would get hit the hardest. Suprisingly, no one was knocked out in the match! Al Snow made the biggest mistake of the match when he missed a drokick off of a chair as Henry was able to dive on top of him afterwards and get the pin! Holly & Snow retreated to the back as Henry & Simmons posed together in the ring. Simmons stepped out on to the ring apron and applauded Henry who was still standing in the middle. He then walked back into the ring and shook the hand of Henry, raising it for the fans to show appreciation, which they did.

Overall: ** 3/4

Match of the Night: Matt Stryker vs. El Dandy
rey619Posted on 05/09/05 at 23:06:13

I realize now why you called it an All-American Evening (Simmons).. I was baffled in the beginning as I clearly saw Mexicans, Japanese and even Russians..  ;D

Marty Jannetty shouldn't be ashamed of losing to El Dandy, he's the friggin top contender, that's who he is. He's the Iron Man above Iron Men. Do you know what's going on with Johnny Smith by the way? Did he ever get back into a ring after his incident in Japan way back in 2002?

I feel bad for Dreamer.. he managed to lose twice in under 10 minutes... but at least you're the man to turn a no-show into a further plot twist. Great thinking!

Man.. I really hate those pesky dq's or countouts in 4-way matches. I mean, it's always so unfair to let one team win like that..

I think your show really picked up at the end, the Striker vs Dandy match must have been a classic, and the Hayabusa vs Patriot match wasn't far behind. Makes you think, though. Patriot and Grenier fought a 1 star match. And now this? Is it because a)Grenier is horrible and pulls down Patriot or b) Hayabusa is terrific and pulls up Patriot.  ;)

Great show, keep em coming!

Cincinnati Pro Official Hotline
Last Updated March 31, 2006

Ladies and gentlemen... just one week from tonight, Friday April 7, 2006, Cincinnati Pro will present One Down. This show rounds out an entire of Cincinnati Pro action and what a year it has been! Following One Down, the Hotline will have an in depth look at Cincinnati Pro's first year.

Now, as for One Down, we have so much action planned for you! First and foremost, Hayabusa will FINALLY challenge for the CP Tri-State Heavyweight Championship as he takes on current champion, Matt Stryker. However, as we have seen in the past, fellow members of The Elite are never far when Matt Stryker has to defend the title. Hayabusa will have his hands full. This is going to be awesome!

Speaking of The Elite, Alexander Otsuka & Josh Abercrombie are scheduled to defend their Tag Team Championship against the Top Contendors, Chris Hero & Chris Leben. This could be an awesome match, but we're sorry to announce that Leben has once again disappeared from wrestling! Hero has been trying to contact him, but to no avail. In this case, either Hero finds a partner or he forfeits his top contendorship to the Tag Team Championship.

Also, DEAN MALENKO has challenged TAZZ to a SUBMISSION MATCH! Following last month's events, Dean Malenko has had nothing on his mind but revenge. Tazz had been calling him out for months and the two could never get a match. Then finally last month they were scheduled to meet one-on-one. But Malenko had been attacked in the back prior to the match and couldn't compete. Thus leading Malenko to charge the ring after Tazz had already wrestled and lay him out with a chair. This rivalry is going to explode next Friday!

Other scheduled matches, Hardcore Holly as issued a challenge to Mark Henry in a singles match. A Four Corners Match will decide a new Top Contendor involving A-Train, Vader, Volk Han, & The Patriot will go down! In a battle of the orient, Akitoshi Saito will take on Jinsei Shinzaki! Jimmy Jacobs looks to finally get some attention as he takes on Ahmed Johnson! Two big tag team matches: The Jung Dragons take on Vicious & Delicious and El Dandy & Damian 666 team up to take on The Insane Clown Posse! Expect all this and much more next Friday, April 7 at One Down in Peel's Palace in Florence, Kentucky!
