HARD KNOX WRESTLING PRESENTS
"BACK IN BLACK -  A CHRIS CANDIDO MEMORIAL"
DATE: JUNE 10, 2006
LOCATION: GLEASON'S GYM, BROOKLYN, NY

The night started off with the light's out and a 10 bell salute to Chris Candido. After the 10th bell tolled, "BACK IN BLACK" by AC/DC played over the PA system and the lights came back on and we saw Chris Candido's widow, Tammy Sytch standing in the center of the ring.

She addressed the crowd and thanked them all for coming out to honor her husband. She continued to speak about her husband for a few more minutes before she broke down into tears. The entire locker room came down to the ring to comfort them, all of them wearing a black armband with "R.I.P. Candido"
written on them. The crowd got on their feet in support as Tammy was escorted to the back by the members of the HKW roster and visiting superstars. Lance Hoyt with a bit of revenge against Siaki for what happened to Candido at TNA's last PPV by gaining a victory tonight. The fans did not show a lot of support for Siaki but Hoyt calmed them down and spoke about how the blame being shifted on Sonny Siaki is uncalled for. He went on to say how wrestling is a dangerous business to be in and accidents DO happen sometimes. Hoyt then raised Siaki's hand and they hugged before heading to the backstage area.

The next contest puts two sworn enemies on the same team and two former champions on the other. The big thing to watch is how well one side is likely to work together than the other.

The match started off on a decent note and then flopped midway and the sight of blood from Homicide got the fans slightly back into it but not enough to warrant an amazing reaction by the closing bell.

After the match was over, Low-Ki got on the mic and began to talk trash about the fans and about Chris Candido. In typical Low Ki fashion, he showed no respect to anyone including a grieving widow and a locker room of respectful wrestlers who were trying to honor the memory of a great friend.  He continued to badmouth everything and everyone in his sight before leaving the ring AND the building.

This prompted Tom Pritchard to come down to the ring to try and soften the mood and return some decorum to the evening's proceedings by reminiscing about the times he spent with Chris back in WWF as The Bodydonnas. His trip down memory lane took a few minutes before he was interrupted by Jack Ripper.

Jack proceeded to tell Tom Pritchard how his time was up and unlike the Oscars, there is no music to make him hurry up. Instead, there's THIS...

[Amazing Red interfered against CM Punk.]

It was announced by Despair earlier this evening that since HKW has decided to throw his friend and partner, Spikyjim out of the company for his actions against Rhyno a few weeks back, he would be leaving HKW as well at the end of this month.

Now, this match was nothing but TERRIFIC TAG ACTION as Despair prepares for his last match ever in Hard Knox later this month and gets a win on the way.

We also saw Amazing Red try to prevent CM Punk from gaining a cheap win with the use of that chain. Those two definitely have unfinished business to attend to.

After the match was over and both Punk and Despair had left ringside, The SAT came down to check on Wild & Starring. The Maximos helped the two men to their feet and shook their hands. They then went on to put a challenge out to them for a tag title defense later this month, which of course Wild & Starring gladly accepted.

The SAT then went on to talk about the man of honor tonight, Chris Candido and how he has been and always will be a great tag team wrestler as well as a singles combatant. They then went over to ringside where Tammy has been sitting all evening and presented her with an honorary tag title belt, courtesy of HKW.

This brought us to our main event - a 6 man encounter between D'LO BROWN, YONE & BJ WHITMER going up against The Triple Threat (JOHNNY ACE, JOHNNY STAMBOLI & CHUCK PALUMBO)

A great and fitting memorial show for Candido, bringing in old friends and colleagues really worked out well. As we all know Low Ki has become quite the jerk nowadays, but shooting on a dead wrestler and a widow was totally uncalled for. The match against Homicide was also quite interesting.. for reasons that will become apparent if you read future IWA shows.

I've also of the opinion that Siaki botched when Candido injured himself, but to blame him for the death is, as Lance says it, totally wrong. But seeing as this isn't the first time Siaki severely injures another due to botched moves, Siaki wouldn't have been my first choice of opponent if I were a wrestler..

Thank ya very much Rey.

Quick sidebar - I attended my first Ring of Honor show last night as they made their NYC debut and they started off the show with "Back in Black" and then a 10 bell salute. Quite interesting but not coincidental as it was the right homage to Candido's memory. Also, CM Punk wore one of Candido's orange "No Gimmicks needed" shirts and had Candido written on one of his taped arm.

Back to Hard Knox now...

Yea, I figured Low Ki would be the best person to come across as a d*ck and show no respect at a memorial show.  After attending the ROH show, I now realize it may not have been a good idea to book Ki vs Homicide since they are on good terms and probably don't work good matches against each other but i'm anxious to see what IWA:NE does with them.
