Show 6/3/06

Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson stand in the middle of the ring.

Hudson:  Welcome to the first ever Firestorm.  Of course we have our main event of Arn Anderson taking on Muhammad Hassan for the GWF Heavyweight Champion.

Tenay:  Also we have Owen Hart trying to get some revenge against Sabu, one of the men that took his tag team partner out.

Suddenly Eric Bischoff's music hits.

Bischoff:  Mike, Scott, great to have you aboard.  Now I have a major announcement.  In two weeks we will have an eight man tournament for the GWF TV Title.  Now this title could be a stepping stone because if a man holds that title for four weeks he gets a shot at the GWF Heavyweight Champion.  That's right, a shot the next week and you don't forfeit your title either.  Six of the men will be picked randomly.  The other two men will be picked by fans on our website.  This tournament will be over several weeks.  Now onto tonight's show.

Suddenly the Road Warrior's music hits and Hawk and Animal come out.

Hawk:  Bischoff, we want Edge and Christian right now.

Animal:  And we will put our careers on the line.

Edge and Christian come out laughing but Bischoff doesn't look amused.

Bischoff:  You two will do that?  Then all four of you will do that.  This is a retirement match.  The loser of this match will be gone for the GWF.  Ring the damn bell!

This was a decent match but early on Animal went down and tagged out.  He rolled to the floor and held his neck the rest of the match.  Hawk carried the team and took on both E&C.  E&C couldn't keep Hawk down.  Hawk continued to get up.  Eric Bischoff was at ringside doing commentary talking about the history of both teams.  In the ring Edge speared Hawk and then both went to the floor.  Christian went to the top and took both men out.  No one moved until nine and it looked like both teams made it in but the official called for the bell.

The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) and Edge and Christian battled to a
double countout in 0:07:40.
Animal suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 9 cards.
Rating: ***

Bischoff:  Well well well, a double countout.  I guess we don't have a team leaving the GWF after all----WE HAVE TWO!  YOUR BOTH GONE!  Let this be a lesson to everyone in that locker room, don't mess with the boss!

BREAK

After the break we see a video of the history between Blitzkrieg and Mick "Mankind" Foley.  After the video we see Bobby Heenan and The Barbarian in the ring waiting for Blitzkrieg.  Blitz comes in and the Barbarian attacks.  This was a short match as Blitz ducked the Kick of Fear from the Barbarian and hit an inverted DDT.  Blitz then hit the Stardust Press for the win.

Blitzkrieg pinned The Barbarian with the Stardust Press in 0:03:54.
Rating: *** 1/2

After the match Vader hits the ring and attacks The Barbarian making it two on one.  From the back out ran the unlikely duo of Curt Hennig and Mankind.  Hennig goes right after Vader while Blitz takes off with Mankind chasing him.  Hennig gives Vader several chops before sending him over the top rope with a running dropkick.

Hennig:  Vader, no one threatens Bobby when I am around.  If you want to get to Bobby you go through me.

Vader:  That isn't a problem punk.  Next week I finish what I started before, the ending of your career!

BREAK

After the break we get a video of the history of the tag teams in the GWF.  We see teams like the LOD, E&C, The Nasty Boys, Taka and Funaki and the RNR Express among others.  We then go to tag team action between the Basham's and RNR Express.

This was a good tag team match.  Nothing special just good tag team action between two good tag teams.  Both teams got near falls with their respective finishers.  About a minute in the RNR hit their double dropkick on Danny but Doug broke it up.  Later on Doug and Danny hit their Ball and Gag Bomb for a near fall.  The end came when RNR went for another Double Dropkick but Doug shoved Danny out of the way.  Doug then nailed Morton with a spinning Leg Lariat for the win.

The Basham Brothers (Danny Basham and Doug Basham) defeated Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) when Doug Basham pinned R. Morton with the Leg Lariat in 0:10:25.
Rating: *** 1/2

Before the break we see footage of Sabu, Hassan and Daivari attacking Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart last month at Family Problems.  We then see the graphics that Owen vs. Sabu is next.

BREAK

Owen and Sabu had a great match.  Sabu actually wrestled instead of his usual hardcore style and it was a good match.  Early on Sabu worked on Owen's back, obviously setting him up for the Camel Clutch.  Owen came back when he dodged Sabu's Triple Jump Moonsault.  Owen hit an awesome belly to belly for a near fall.  Owen went to the top for a missile dropkick but Daivari tripped him.  Sabu hit a superplex for a near fall.  Sabu went for his Triple Jump again but again Owen moved.  Owen quickly hit an enzuigiri for the win.

Owen Hart pinned Sabu after an enzuigiri in 0:12:10.
Rating: *** 3/4
[Khosrow Daivari interfered against Owen Hart.]

Daivari came in but Owen grabbed him and threw him over the top.

Owen:  Muhammad Hassan, I promise that I will get my revenge.  Two men down and only you to go.  Watch your back because you don't know when I will get you.  Maybe when you are getting into your car.  Maybe when you are changing into your gear.  I will get you.  WHOO!

BREAK

The main event was another great match.  Anderson and Hassan had a great match, better then the last one.  Since Tully left the GWF Arn is starting to show that he is more then a right hand man to Ric Flair.  Hassan held his own working on Anderson's back and neck, much like Sabu earlier tonight, setting up for the Camel Clutch.  Hassan locked the Camel Clutch in as we went to our final break.

BREAK

We come back and we see Arn getting to his feet with Hassan on his back.  On the floor Heenan is screaming and Anderson.  The fans are totally behind Arn and "The Brain".  Arn rams Hassan into the buckles to break the hold.  Arn ran into the ropes and Daivari trips Arn.  Heenan goes over and nails Daivari to a huge pop.  In the ring Hassan goes for his STO but Anderson counters with a low blow and hits his Spinebuster.  The official goes down to count but the bell rings before the three count.

Muhammad Hassan and Arn Anderson battled to a draw in 0:15:00.
Rating: ****
(Muhammad Hassan retained the GWF Heavyweight Title.)
[Khosrow Daivari interfered against Arn Anderson.]

Tenay:  Folks I am being told that the 15 minutes time limit has expired.

Hudson:  But Arn had the match won Mike.  Finally the GWF's holy grail would have been around the waste of someone worthwhile.

Suddenly from the back out ran Owen Hart.  Owen hit a springboard dropkick on both Hassan and Anderson.  Owen tossed Arn to the floor and locked Hassan into the Sharpshooter.  Officials and other wrestlers come out and pull Owen off as we go off the air.

NEWS AND NOTES:

Both the Road Warriors and Edge and Christian have left the GWF.  We would like to wish them the best of luck and hope to see them back in the GWF rings in the future.

Next week shows will have the following matches:

Funaki/Taka(c) vs. The Dudley Boys
Big Van Vader vs. Curt Hennig

and more.

We will also have the announcement of the GWF TV Title tournament and we expect to hear from Muhammad Hassan.
