IWA:NE - A Night of Champions - 03.26.06

rey619Posted on 04/30/05 at 18:48:23

Note: Wow.. two 5-star matches? This is actually the first time ever I've had a 5-star match in one of my circuits, and it happens twice? This must be like Christmas and 4th of July on the same day. Anyhow, enjoy.

Backstage
The CD does not start with any in-ring action, but rather of Generation Next walking backstage when they encounter the Hardy Boyz (we don't actually see them, just from behind).

Evans: "Well, well, well.. if it isn't the Hardy Boyz. Listen up biaaatch!"
Jason Cross shakes rolls his eyes when Jack starts with yet another rap.

Hey, yo, you got something to say / are you gonna take our titles away? / Jeff, you should go back to your music, was it rock?/ You stink there as well, but at least you don't suck / I'm so sorry bout Amy / that's a-shamy / what you're going through must be tough / thinking about Edge eating Amy's ****

Jason: "Hey man, that was totally uncalled for. Are you 15 years or something?"

The camera zoom out, and we realize that it isn't the Hardy Boyz, only a couple of look-a-like fans.

Evans: "What's up your ass, man. Can't I have some fun.
Cross: "Facing the Hardy Boyz is bad enough, but facing two mad Hardy Boyz is worse."
Evans: "Don't sweat it man, this DVD ain't coming out in months. By then we've chased those losers away. Now come on, let's find some fat fans we can make fun of

UltraMantis Black vs Joel Maximo vs Air Paris vs Sabian

Joel was in a good mood today, probably as a result of his Valentine Date
with Mary Kate Olsen, which he won at Victorious Valentine last month.
This four corner opener was what you would expect, a great spotfest from
these four high fliers.

The insectoid UltraMantis was on fire in the opening, attacking both Paris
and Joel as Sabian took more of a relaxed approach to the match. As the Angry
Insect disposed of his opponents, Sabian attacked him from behind, trying to
find out who was beneath the mask. Ref Ronald Stomp stopped him.
Sabian went to the top, missing a 450 on Paris. Joel and Air Paris then went
high risk, both men flying out of the ring to take out Sabian and UltraMantis.
It seemed as if Air Paris and Joel had control of the ring, but then Air
turned on Joel, sending him to the ground with a power bomb for a pin.
The date with Mary Kate apparently went quite good, as Joel, still in good
spirits congratulated Air Paris on his fine win.

Four Corners Match:
Air Paris defeated Sabian, Joel Maximo and UltraMantis Black when Paris pinned
Joel after a power bomb in 0:21:55.

Interview with Scott D'Amore

Cindy:"Hi, I am Cindy Strappen, and I am standing next to Scott D'Amore, manager for the Border City Patrol. Scott, Petey Williams will face AJ Styles later tonight for the chance of going 1 on 1 with the Heavyweight Champion in one month's time, be it Low Ki or Christopher Daniels. Do you really think he can do it? After all...

Scott: "Do I think he can do it? DO I? I know he can do it. He may have had some losses as of late, but Petey is still the future of this business, and his rise to the top cannot come quick enough."

Cindy:"But what about your recent run-in with the three men now calling themselves Pure Power. Does this prove that firing Doug Williams was a bad move?"

Scott: "Listen sweetheart, Doug Williams was not a team player. He would do what I assigned him to do. Lex Lovett may not be as experienced as Doug, be he does what I tell him to do. Tonight, his job is to make Williams, Walters and McGuinness suffer, and I have confidence he will do just that. Now if you would excuse me, I have a pep talk to make."

the Messiah & Homicide vs the Briscoe Brothers

the Messiah still sporting a black eye and some stitches after being treated
to the vicious stilletto stab from Francine tried to take out his anger at
the Briscoes. Both teams had suffered stinging defeats due to Gen Next and
the succubus from hell, and both teams wanted to climb to the top contender
spot again. This was a treat for those who are fond of chain-wrestling, as
the Briscoes really sent Homicide and Messiah reeling from a series of picture
perfect armdrags. Homicide, the spoilsport as he is, ruined it all with a
vicious Yakuza kick on Mark. The team experience of the Briscoes really
showed in this match, as they coordinated their attacks and their 5-sec
free time at tags a lot better than Messiah and Homicide, who often didn't
seem to know what the other was thinking. I guess being brothers doesn't
hurt either.

However, Homicide felt that he had suffered enough defeats here in IWA. He
was even the top contender once. That is why he refused to be pinned, kicking
out of a powerslam, sitout powerbomb and the J-Driller! The stalwart Homicide
then retrieved brass knuckles, pummeling Jay with them, setting up the
Godsmack from the Messiah. Mark made the save, and chaos ruled the ring as
all men brawled. the Briscoes took out Homicide, setting the Messiah up with
the Briscoe Bomb. Still no pin! The Briscoes then turned their back on
Messiah to complain about a slow count. Messiah low blows Jay and sends him
down with the Godsmack. Homicide restrains Mark as ref Mitchell makes the
count in this match of the year candidate. The crowd were at their feet
chanting "best match ever!" as the teams made their way to the back.

The Messiah and Homicide defeated
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) when Messiah pinned
J. Briscoe with the Godsmack in 0:24:35.

Backstage
People run away in panic as the camera zooms in on Daniels and Low Ki fighting it out in a stairwell, Ki laying kick after kick on Daniels who doesn't seem to defend himself at all!

Daniels:"Relax my friend, there is no need for this at all."
Ki: "I am not your friend, weakling. Your pathetic leadership has broken the spirit and the backbone of Triple X."

Ki sends Daniels crashing into some garbage cans, sending its contents out on the floor. Low Ki goes for an elbowdrop, but Daniels rolls away, causing Ki's elbow to smash into the concrete.

Daniels: "I've had it with you! For months I have been patient, not letting my temper get the best out of me, determined to not let some ignorant child be in my path of spirtuality. Now, you've overstepped your boundaries. Now, you will pay!"

Daniels jumps on top of Ki, raining blow after blow on him, until Prime Time pulls them away from each other. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles come running over, separating them.

Ki:"I'll see you in the ring, Angel.

Daniels: "Can't wait!"

Petey Williams vs AJ Styles in a top-contender match

How Petey Williams got this top contender match is beyond anyone's knowledge,
but having Scott D'Amore as coach probably helped. Williams have had his
shots before, will he succeed this time?
Having the trio of Steen, Bangz and D'Amore ringside certainly helped Petey
gain a certain amount of control on the Phenomenal, almost getting the pin
after a sunset flip. AJ has the unfortunate honor of being the only one still
left in IWA who has failed in a title match, and he would desperately want
another attempt. This intensity proved to be his downfall, as he repeatedly
went after D'Amore and Steen, allowing Bangz to slide in the ring bell.
After knocking out Styles with it, Petey sent him through the Canadian
Destroyer to get his title shot.

Number-One-Contenders-Match:
Petey Williams pinned AJ Styles with the Canadian Destroyer in 0:08:20.

Pure Power vs Border City Patrol

Petey's win over AJ was possibly BCP's greatest success so far, but Scott
D'Amore deeply wanted Doug Williams and his new friends to feel the sting
of loss to his three selected men, Kevin Steen, Lex Lovett and Teddy Hart.

Lovett and Hart double-teamed Doug in the beginning, punishing him for
leaving the BCP. Doug had staunch allies at hand though, quickly breaking
up the unfair double-teaming. The BCP came prepared to face three men well
versed in technical ground wrestling, but nothing could prepare Hart for
the excruciating pain that is Nigel McGuinness' submission holds. Whenever
he got out of one, Nigel quickly latched onto another, keeping Teddy grounded.
With the help of Steen, Teddy finally got loose, sending Nigel over the
ropes, where a Canadian Destroyer from Petey Williams awaited him. John
Walters came over to help, but was nailed with the same move. Petey is really
on fire tonight! Back in the ring, Lex Lovett and Hart were double teaming
Williams, Lovett choking the hell out of him. Ref Mandelbaum felt that he
was doing it for too long, dq'ing Lovett and the BCP. The DQ loss didn't
seem to affect BCP, as they continued to give it to Doug and the rest of
Pure Power. Petey went back into the ring to give Doug the Canadian Destroyer,
when KENTA, Scorpio and Mohammed Yone hit the ring! The NOAH stars quickly
sent the Border City Patrol running. As the only English-speaking star,
Scorpio picked up a mic.

"I am here on behalf of Mitsuhara Misawa and the rest of NOAH. I would like
to challenge IWA to a battle. A 5 on 5 I Quit match. Five stars from NOAH
will do battle with five stars from IWA. Myself, KENTA and Mohammed were
very impressed by you, Doug, and Pure Power. Pick two team mates and be
ready for April 2nd."

Scorpio and the rest then slid out of the ring.

Pure Power (Doug Williams, John Walters and Nigel McGuinness) defeated
Border City Patrol (Kevin Steen, Lex Lovett and Teddy Hart) when J. Walters
defeated Lex Lovett by disqualification in 0:15:21.

Monster Challenge: Samoa Joe vs Bison Smith

When Bison Smith entered the ring, Joe shook his head and then retrieved a microphone.

Joe: "I challenged you to go out there and find big people to face me in the ring. And this is what you bring me? He is no heavier than I, this match is cancelled."

As Joe makes his way out past a puzzled Smith, President deMei comes out with a sheet of paper.

DeMei: Yo Joe, hold on for a minute, will you? (shows him the paper). This is an official medical report for yesterday, stating Bison's weight. He's 3 pounds more than you. So if you wouldn't mind, turn around and start the match."

Joe looks frustrated, but does as he is told, yelling at a few fans on his way to vent his anger.

Bison only weighed in at 3 pound heavier than Joe, so the weight difference
was not noticeable at all. The two heavyweights engaged in a battle of strengths
at first, before Joe power bomb SMith. Smith got up to his feet and powerslammed
Joe, showing that he would not be easily defeated. Samoa Joe kept disrespecting
his opponent and the crowd, signalling a change of attitude for the former
champ. Never before had the crowd booed at Joe for performing the Ole Ole
kick. Joe slowly took over the match, and did a lot of groundwork when he
kept Bison in a short arm scissors for 45 seconds. Smith, who also works
NOAH shows, responded with a series of rights on Joe, starting a momentum
that would eventually send Joe to the ground with a vivacious lariat.
Bison Smith slowly pulled Joe up, looking over to the crowd before executing
the Bisontennial to defeat Samoa Joe and end his Monster Challenge.

Bison Smith pinned Samoa Joe with the Bisontennial in 0:11:42.
Samoa Joe suffered a broken finger. He will be out for approximately 1 card.

KENTA vs L.A. Park

This match was a clean, highly technical match until LA Park brought forth
a set of knuckle which busted KENTA open. The NOAH star didn't take kindly
to the use of illegal weapons, firing an array of kicks upon Park, ending
in a fisherman suplex that could very well have sent Park away. A Knee Kick
followed by a powerslam secured the quick win for KENTA in a match that
should have gone on longer.. the disappointment of the evening, no doubt.
Was KENTA hired on a pay-per-minute basis?

KENTA pinned L.A. Park after a powerslam in 0:06:42.

IWA Tag-Team Title Match: Generation Next vs The Hardy Boyz

the Hardy Boyz are back!! The crowd went ballistic as the Hardyz entered
to the sound of Eminem's "Toy Soldiers". How ironic that one-half of their
opponents is an Eminem wannabe..

The Hardy Boyz never showed any ring rust, as they steam rolled over Jason
Cross in the early goings, hitting him with several nicely timed double
moves to frustrate Francine and Jack Evans on the outside. Quick tags held
Jack Evans out of the ring, and a flying legdrop by Matt almost secured the
titles. Finally, after 7 minutes of enduring punishment, Cross made the
hot tag to Jack, who ran right into a Jeff Hardy clothesline. Being the
fresh man, Jack managed to control Jeff for a couple of minutes, before
the tide turned again. Matt entered the ring and took out Evans with a power
bomb, while Jeff hit Jason with the Swanton Bomb. 1... 2.. and here is Francine,
nailing Jeff with the stiletto heel! Ref Ohlsson dq's Generation Next.
The Hardy Boyz are furious taking out both Cross and Evans. Matt bodyslams
Francine to the ground, and Jeff climbs up, hitting her with the Swanton
Bomb! Generation Next hightail, just as President DeMei comes to ringside.

"Hold it.. hold it.. I am getting sick of you three ruining my title matches
with interferences and DQ losses. Next show, April 2nd, there will be a
rematch from tonight! And this time, it will be a title changes hands on a
dq or countout managers banned from ringside match. If I so much as spot
Francine down here, Jeff and Matt win the titles!"

The crowd cheer for DeMei and the Hardyz, as Generation Next cannot believe
they have to go through this match once more, and having to win through
legal means..

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) defeated
Generation Next (Jack Evans and Jason Cross) when J. Hardy defeated J. Cross by
disqualification in 0:11:08.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Generation Next retained the IWA Tag Team Titles.)
[Francine interfered against Jeff Hardy.]

IWA Heavyweight Title Match: Christopher Daniels vs Low Ki

This was as violent as the backstage brawl earlier tonight, as Daniels
and Low Ki clashed head to head. Daniels with the momentum in the start,
as Ki barely escaped a facebuster. These two warriors
switched styles frequently, from hard-hitting stiff kicking shots to high-
flying daredevil maneouvers in the blink of an eye. Daniels almost killed
himself with a moonsault out of the ring, taking down Ki. At this rate,
nobody expected the match to last very long, but neither man went for a
pin, instead opting for more punishment, more blows and savage suplexes.
The decibel level in the building was possibly even louder than when the
Hardy Boyz arrived! As both men became more and more tired, a sudden adrenaline
burst from Low Ki secured his win, putting Daniels down with the Ki Krusher.

Low Ki retrieved the Heavyweight belt, putting it around his own waist. He
didn't even glance at Daniels or acknowledge the crowd as he simply walked
out of the arena the NEW IWA Heavyweight Champion!

Low Ki pinned Christopher Daniels with the Ki Krusher in 0:16:10.

Backstage
The CD does not start with any in-ring action, but rather of Generation Next walking backstage when they encounter the Hardy Boyz (we don't actually see them, just from behind).

Gen Next is biting off more than they can chew messing with Matt Hardy's personal life. Evans better hope Matt doesn't shoot on him and put him down the Hardy way.

UltraMantis Black vs Joel Maximo vs Air Paris vs Sabian

Gotta go with current HKW tag champ (as he was back in March of 2006), Joel Maximo to take down the other yokels in this match. And having a date with one of the Olsen twins can definitely give ya a bit of `pep'.

Four Corners Match:
Air Paris defeated Sabian, Joel Maximo and UltraMantis Black when Paris pinned
Joel after a power bomb in 0:21:55.

Guess I was wrong but nice match still.

Interview with Scott D'Amore

Jury is still out whether Lex Lovett can hang with the BCP - guess we'll see later tonight.

the Messiah & Homicide vs the Briscoe Brothers

Definitely Messiah & Homicide with the win.

Amazing description of the action - typical ROH competition in an IWA wrapping. =) Congrats on getting the 5*.

Backstage

AWW YEA - all hell is breaking loss btwn Daniels & Low Ki. That's bound to be a sick sick match tonight.

Petey Williams vs AJ Styles in a top-contender match

Gotta go with Styles overcoming the odds of the BCP.

Number-One-Contenders-Match:
Petey Williams pinned AJ Styles with the Canadian Destroyer in 0:08:20.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Kevin Steen interfered against AJ Styles.]

Dammit - Williams is never going to be able to hold his own against either Low Ki or Daniels in a title match. I see that getting a 3* tops.

Pure Power vs Border City Patrol

Once again, im betting against BCP - i dont think Lovett can hold his end of the deal and he will be the weak link for D'Amore.

WOW - Mohammed Yone is in IWA:NE...here's hoping he does better here than in HKW.

Monster Challenge: Samoa Joe vs Bison Smith

Not familair with Bison Smith so i cant comment further. I will say that Samoa Joe not wanting to wrestle cause the guy isnt bigger than him (or so he thought) was a nice touch.

Bison Smith pinned Samoa Joe with the Bisontennial in 0:11:42.
Samoa Joe suffered a broken finger. He will be out for approximately 1 card.

BROKEN FINGER??? How lame.

KENTA vs L.A. Park

Hmm...i'll go for KENTA.

Not sure if i'd expect LA Park to use some knucks but ok...

IWA Tag-Team Title Match: Generation Next vs The Hardy Boyz

Oh man...here comes the pain! Whats up with the Hardy's new theme song....more than irony maybe?

Damn that Francine...here's hoping that a rematch happens with Francine banned.

THAT'S RIGHT BABY!!! The titles are coming home to North Carolina.

IWA Heavyweight Title Match: Christopher Daniels vs Low Ki

LOW KI!!!!

Definitely a 5* worthy contest.

Great job as always!
rey619Posted on 05/02/05 at 00:21:08

Thanks for the kind words!

I'd like to think that Jack wasn't shooting off, but that IWA had Matt's consent to do this, in order to generate more heel heat for Evans. I am trying to depict him as this childish little brat, and it seems to work so far. I have also been toying with the idea of Jason turning on him, as that seems to be the only way of Gen Next dropping the titles.

I don't think Petey will be able to beat Low Ki or Daniels either, but I reckon it'll be a good match. I actually like some of Petey's work, unlike most of the boards  ;D

Broken finger was kinda lame. I am thinking of maybe having Joe fight through it, but as I am turning him heel, I might let him use this opportunity to gain som heat.

I am actually quite proud that Generation Next has been able to hold on to their titles for so long. I DO manipulate push in order to have longer-running champs, but this amazes me. I cannot really see any other credible contenders unless the HArdyz can get the job done next show. I will probably NOT manipulate push this time, just to take into account how dependent Gen Next are on Francine.

IWA:NE Newsreport - 03.28.06

It has only been two days since the phenomenal Lexington, MA show, where Low Ki won the IWA Heavyweight Title from former team ally Christopher Daniels in what must have been the match of the year. Still, April's Fool Parade is only days away, being held in Sewell, New Jersey on April 2nd.

This will be the first IWA show to feature an afternoon show, and an evening show.

As we found out two days ago, Mitsuharu Misawa is leading a team of NOAH stars to take on Pure Power and two other wrestlers. We now know that team NOAH will consist of Misawa, Scorpio, Mohammed Yone, KENTA and Kotaru Suzuki. For those of you not familiar with NOAH, we have a limited sale on NOAH DVD's over in the sales section (they will probably not arrive in time for the show, but hey, it's great wrestling). Team Pure Power has recruited the services of one Bobby Roode, and rumor has it that they are also trying to negotiate a deal with Paul London (and the WWE of course). WWE has always had a good relationship with IWA, and since they are doing a house show in Atlantic City on Saturday, chances are that Paul London will show up!

President DeMei has decided to put the recently crowned champ to an endurance test. Low Ki has to defeat 3 other guys in an elimination match to defend his title. These men are the former champion, Christopher Daniels, the Messiah and Rockin' Rebel! The catch here is that all these four men have to fight in the afternoon show as well. Low Ki will take on the Rebel, while Daniels fights the Messiah. These matches mean nothing, but are kind of warming-up matches. Balancing the need to reserve your strength for what matters, and losing are two matters that each of these four men must consider.

Daredevil Trophy 2006. Four of the most spectacular men in IWA will fight it out in a four-way-ladder match to win the 2006 Daredevil Trophy. AJ Styles, LA Park, Jerelle Clark and UltraMantis Black are the chosen competitors.

Mikey Batts is back from his back injury, and has chosen to challenge Petey Williams to a match. According to rumors, Batts has been told that he cannot have the title match he probably is entitled to, and wants to prove himself by defeating the current top contender.

Tag Team Titles rematch. As DeMei stated, there WILL be a rematch for the Tag Team Titles. This time, Francine will not be ringside, forcing Jack and Jason to depend only on themselves. Will the longest reigning champions in America today manage to stay alive yet another show? Time will tell.
