GWF Show 14:  Survival of the Fittest

cerberosPosted on 04/21/05 at 00:34:46

Survival of the Fittest started off with the most anticipated match on the show as the GWF Champion Muhammad Hassan led his team to the ring.

Hassan:  Well looky here, I still have my GWF title.  Randy Savage couldn't do it.  Big Van Vader couldn't do it.  The Sandman couldn't do it.  Cactus Jack sure in the hell couldn't do it.  No one can take this title off me.  I will hold this title till I don't want it anymore.  For seven months this company has tired and they haven't come close.  NO ONE CAN TAKE MY TITLE!  Now, I have surrounded myself with four of the best wrestlers around, and I will not have to defend my title next month because one of these men will be walking out victorious.  Bring out the lambs to slaughter!

Well in the first match we saw the MVP of the night.  Sabu just about single handed defeated the entire other team.  Early on there were quick tags by both teams.  With the ref's back turned Bubba came in and gave Animal the Bubba Cutter.  Blitzkrieg quickly hit a standing moonsault for the elimination.  It was quite a few minutes before the next elimination and it was a shocker as the Champion went down.  Cactus Jack crotched him as he went to the top.  The Sandman then hit a top rope frankensteiner for the pinfall.  Sabu however capitalized by quickly hit his Triple Jump Moonsault for the win.  This left Hawk, Daivari and Sabu against D-Von, Bubba, Blitzkrieg and Cactus Jack.  Next to fall was Bubba Ray Dudley.  It seemed that it was going to be Hawk or Bubba as they just beat the hell out of each other.  Bubba went for a second rope splash but missed.  Hawk hit a reverse neckbreaker followed up by his Flying Clothesline for the win.  D-Von ran in and hit his elevated Inverted DDT for the quick elimination.  That left Sabu and Daivari against D-Von, Cactus and Blitzkrieg.  Sabu never tagged out meaning that Daivari never got in the ring.  Sabu finished off D-Von with a brainbuster followed by an Asai moonsault.  Next to fall was Cactus Jack.  Cactus was working over Sabu and went to tag Blitz but he walked jumped off the apron.  Cactus couldn't understand what was going on when Sabu gave him a low blow followed by a belly to back.  He then hit a Triple Jump Moonsault for the elimination.  Blitzkrieg then walked to the back laughing as Sabu beat on Cactus Jack.

Elimination Match:
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal), Khosrow Daivari, Muhammad Hassan and Sabu beat The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley), Cactus Jack, The Sandman and Blitzkrieg 5 falls to 3:
x Blitzkrieg beat Animal via a standing moonsault in 0:09:41
        x Sandman beat M. Hassan via a top-rope Frankensteiner in 0:23:05
x Sabu beat Sandman via the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:23:15
x Hawk beat Bubba via the Flying Clothesline in 0:28:39
x D-Von beat Hawk via the Inverted DDT in 0:28:44
x Sabu beat D-Von via an Asai moonsault in 0:35:09
x Sabu beat Cactus via the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:36:19
x Sabu beat Blitzkrieg via count out in 0:36:31
Survivors: Khosrow Daivari, Sabu
Rating: ** 3/4

After the match Sabu put Cactus in the Camel Clutch while Daivari yelled at him.  Daivari kicked Cactus in the head but fell holding his knee.  Hassan runs out and checks on him.  He starts screaming for the trainer.  The trainer comes out and before long they are able to help him to the back.  Daivari isn't putting any weight on his leg at all.

The Tag Team champions and the hardcore trio of Terry Funk, Mikey Whipwreck and New Jack didn't not mesh well at all.  They didn't score a pinfall and to be honest didn't even get a near fall.  The hardcore trio argued most of the time while Taka and Funaki seemed pushed to the background.  Taka was the first of his team to fall as he and New Jack tried to do a Rocket Launcher.  New Jack threw him but way to far and missed El Dandy completely.  Dandy rolled him up for the elimination.  Next to fall was Mikey Whipwreck.  Mikey was working over Edge when New Jack came in and tried to hit Edge with a chair.  He missed and nailed Mikey.  Lance Hoyt ran in and tackled New Jack while Edge hit the Edgecution for the win.  Next was New Jack.  He went for the 187 on El Dandy but he moved and New Jack hit his head on the chair.  Dandy then rolled him up for another elimination.  That left Terry Funk and Funaki against five men.  Funk fought all five men but Viscera took over with his Embalmer.  However Funk kicked out.  Next Hoyt hit a running big boot but Funaki broke that up.  Christian then hit the Unprettier.  Funaki tried to make the save but was too late.  That left Funaki against all five men.  In a perfect world the tag team champion would have been able to fight back and take the win but the GWF isn't a perfect world and Funaki took a hell of a beating.  First up was Lance Hoyt hitting a running powerslam.  That was followed up by El Dandy and a flying senton.  If that wasn't enough Edge gave him the Edgecution.  Viscera then hit the Embaler.  Christian didn't want to be left out and picked up the unconscious Funaki and gave him the Unprettier for the merciful pinfall.

Elimination Match:
Lance Hoyt, Edge, Christian, El Dandy and Viscera beat Funaki, Taka Michinoku, Terry Funk, Mikey Whipwreck and New Jack 5 falls to 0:
x Dandy beat Michinoku via the Dandina Cradle in 0:08:03
x Edge beat Mikey via the Edgecution in 0:10:33
x Dandy beat New Jack via the Dandina Cradle in 0:11:35
x Christian beat T. Funk via the Unprettier in 0:14:08
x Christian beat Funaki via the Unprettier in 0:20:09
Survivors: Lance Hoyt, Edge, Christian, El Dandy, Viscera
Rating: ***

So far it will be Sabu, Daivari---but his injury could have an effect on him entering the match, Lance Hoyt, Edge, Christian, El Dandy and the massive Viscera.  The last match will be the Heenan Family taking on the Warlord, Pretty Wonderful and company.

The Heenan Family may have some problems a month after gaining Vader and Meng.  During the match the Brain Busters argued several times.  The first elimination was a bit of a surprise.  Meng was in the ring with Ricky Morton.  Morton had Meng in the corner punching away.  The official told him to back off but he didn't.  The official again told Morton to back up but he wouldn't.  The third time Morton shoved the official and was disqualified.  Despite the arguing the Brain Busters still showed damn good team work.  Orndorff was caught off guard by a Spinebuster from Anderson and they followed that up with the Spiked Piledriver for the elimination.  Next the first member of the Heenan Family fell.  The Barbarian was a house of fire hitting every man in the ring but turned right into a big boot from the Warlord followed up by Paul Roma clipping him.  The legal man, Robert Gibson, quickly locked in his leg lock.  The Barbarian refused to tap out but was pinned due to the pain.  Moments later the Brain Busters once again teamed up to eliminate someone, this time the Warlord, with their Spiked Piledriver.  Roma ran in and shoved Double A who ran into Tully.  Tully took offense and actually shoved Double A back.  The two men started shoving each other in the ring.  Anderson finally gave him a right hand which allowed Roma to execute a rolling reverse cradle for the pinfall.  Meng came in and locked in the Tongan Death Grip for the quick elimination.  Without releasing the hold he locked a charging Gibson into the same hold and practically got a double pinfall.

Elimination Match:
The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson), The Barbarian, Meng and Big Van Vader beat Pretty Wonderful (Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma), Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) and Warlord 5 falls to 2:
x Meng beat R. Morton via disqualification in 0:09:43
x Anderson beat Orndorff after the Spiked Piledriver in 0:14:03
x R. Gibson beat Barbarian via the Gibson Leglock in 0:22:04
x Anderson beat Warlord after the Spiked Piledriver in 0:23:21
x Roma beat Blanchard via a rolling reverse cradle in 0:28:57
x Meng beat Roma via the Tongan Death Grip in 0:29:07
x Meng beat R. Gibson via the Tongan Death Grip in 0:29:12
Survivors: Arn Anderson, Meng, Big Van Vader
Rating: ** 1/4

Double A, Meng and Vader waited in the ring as Sabu, Lance Hoyt, Edge, Christian, El Dandy and Viscera came out.  Instead of Daivari Muhammad Hassan came out.

Hassan:  Due to a serious, possible career ending injury, Eric Bischoff has allowed me to take his place.  Of course if---I mean when I win I will not have to defend my title next month.

Hassan throws down the mic and we have our match.  The first elimination was a huge surprise as the former GWF Heavyweight Champion Vader was thrown out by Viscera.  Vader got caught with a double fist to the midsection by Edge and Christian and then the 500 pound Viscera threw him out.  Vader went nuts at ringside throwing chairs and tables around.  He even went back in the ring and everyone ran but El Dandy and Lance Hoyt.  Dandy took a vicious chokeslam while Hoyt took a neck breaking powerbomb.  Finally Bobby Heenan managed to get Vader out of the ring and the match resumes.  As Meng got into the ring Edge and Christian threw him back out eliminating him.  Next to fall was Christian.  Christian and Edge, who just double teamed everyone fell victim to every man for himself.  Christian tried to eliminate Edge but Edge held on.  Hassan then kneed Christian in the back and Edge pulled down the top rope eliminating him.  Next out was Viscera.  Most assumed that if he made it to the battle royal it would take everyone to eliminate him but that wasn't the case.  It took one man and that was Double A.  Viscera charged with an attempted avalanche but Arn moved and Vis ended up on the top rope.  Arn then got underneath him and shoved him over the top for the elimination.  That left Edge, Sabu, Double A, El Dandy, Hoyt and Hassan.  Edge and Sabu battled in the corner when Edge just lifted the Homicidal, suicidal, genocidal Sabu to the floor.  Next to be eliminated was Hassan.  Hassan had Double A down and was mocking him.  Double A however didn't find anything funny about it and gave Hassan a low blow followed by a DDT.  Arn then tossed the champ to the floor to a huge ovation.  Next out when Hoyt followed by Dandy.  This left Double A and Edge.  Both nearly eliminated the other several times.  Edge hit his spear and seemed set to win.  Edge went to throw Arn but he countered with a side Russian leg sweep.  Arn then bodyslammed Edge over the top for the win.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Arn Anderson won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Viscera threw out Vader after a fist to the midsection in 0:04:09
x Edge threw out Meng in 0:07:58
x M. Hassan threw out Christian in 0:10:53
x Anderson threw out Viscera in 0:12:13
x Edge threw out Sabu in 0:13:02
x Anderson threw out M. Hassan after a DDT in 0:15:04
x Dandy threw out Hoyt in 0:17:24
x Edge threw out Dandy in 0:17:59
x Anderson threw out Edge after a bodyslam in 0:20:01
Rating: ** 3/4

Heenan jumped into ring and raised Double A's hand.  From the back out came Meng, the Barbarian and Big Van Vader.  However Tully didn't come out which could be bad for the Heenan family.  The fans leave with the Heenan family celebrating in the ring.

Notes:

Below is the current GWF Roster.  You will notices several names gone including Paul Orndorff, Tully Blanchard and the Warlord.  Some may be brought back but both Paul Orndorff and Tully Blanchard left on bad terms.  Expect several new teams to debut next month to re-fill out the tag team ranks.  You will also see that Daivari's name has been removed from the active wrestlers list.  He has decided that his future is in managing not in the ring and the GWF agrees.

Current Roster:

Road Warriors
Meng/The Barbarian
Dudley Boys
Christian/Edge
Taka Michinoku/Funaki
Blitzkrieg
Lance Hoyt
El Dandy
Mick Foley
Mikey Whipwreck
Paul Roma
The Sandman
Arn Anderson
Big Van Vader
Viscera
Muhammad Hassan

The only match announced for next month is the GWF Title match as "Double A" Arn Anderson is taking on Muhammad Hassan.

Rumor has it that Taka and Funaki could be defending their titles against a debuting tag team.

GWF officials are proud to announce that they have signed a deal to be on MSG Network late Saturday Nights.  The deal includes four prime time specials.  We are extremely excited at this opportunity.  It will be this summer before the show starts to air.  Expect some major announcements in the coming weeks.

Ah yes, how I love Elimination Matches!

I would say the first match, the teams were pretty evened out. It could have been anyone's match. I was surprised to see Hassan go so early, but that's going to look great for The Sandman. What's with Blitzkrieg's new attitude leaving Cactus high and dry? Maybe he's thinking if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Daivair injures his knee somehow... that can't be good for Hassan as Daivari has been a major key player in him keeping the title. If Daivari's knee continues to aggrivate him until the next show, the GWF Championship could be in jeopardy!

I would say all the odds were stacked against Kaintai's team for the next match and the results proved that. It was an old man, 3 small guys, and a brawler against a well rounded team. I can't say much here other than one team was slaughtered.

Meng was ON FIRE in the next match!! Defeating three members of the opposing team on his own!  Well, Morton was DQ'd, but nonetheless, it still goes down in the books as an elimination for Meng! Meng is my pick to go all the way tonight.

Battle Royal time and did Anderson ever deserve this win! He eliminated VISCERA on his own, and then eliminated the champion, Hassan! Sabu didn't do a very good job protecting the champ in this match. Double A prevails and gets the title shot! An unlikely candidate the way I see it, but with the departure of Tully Blanchard (and he's also the reigning LIW Champion), Arn could definatly be the one to take down Hassan!
