IWA:NE - First Anniversary Show - 02.04.06

rey619Posted on 04/08/05 at 09:31:59

Welcome to the First Anniversary Show of IWA:NE. The date is February 4th, and we're in Reading, Pennsylvania, the "home" of IWA:NE. We go straight to the ring, where Generation Next leader Jack Evans is about to rap Happy Birthday!

Evans, Cross, Strong and Francine are in the ring, being booed heavily as Evans picks up the mic, performing outlandish hand maneuvers as he raps the Happy Birthday song.

Evans: "Happy birthday to you / happy birthday to you / happy birthday IWA:NE / and happy birthday to me!

Even more boo Evans, who cuts another rap, this time about the forthcoming IWA:NE Tag Team Title match.

I've had it with the president / he's lame /he wants us to drop our titles / that's a shame. Tonight we're facing 2 brothers / sons of different mothers / Gen Next will prevail / we have Francine / she'll tip the scale!

Jack Evans sending out a warning to both the Briscoes and the SAT, as we go to the first match of the evening.

The Messiah pinned Pat Kenney with the Godsmack in 0:10:13.
Rating: ***
(L.A. Park no-showed.)

IWA:NE management apologized that they had advertised for LA Park, when
in reality he wasn't available due to contractual obligations in Mexico.
Fortunately, the Messiah was ready to go on short notice, even taking
the time to openly criticize DeMei for not booking him on the Anniversary
show, claiming to be the number one highlight on the indy scene.
The first few minutes were a brawl, before the Messiah proved that he
can do some high-flying spots as well, hitting Kenney with a springboard
dropkick. Messiah continued to punish Kenney, nearly taking him away
with the Burning Hammer. Kenney had his shots, and a vertical facebuster
almost made it to the three count. the Messiah had the upper hand though,
and sent Kenney to the ground with a top rope DVD, following it up with
the Godsmack to win the opening match.

B-Boy pinned Sabian with the Cross Special Brain Buster in 0:09:26.
Rating: ** 1/2

Sabian and B-Boy were up next, bringing a little CZW style to IWA's
anniversary show. B-Boy set the standards early on, hitting Sabian
with a Shining Wizard and a Spin Doctor. Sabian got in a few punches
as the match continued as a brawl, eventually executing the 450 splash
for a close call. Some chain wrestling and roll ups later, B-Boy hit
his patented brain buster for the win in an entertaining match.
The two shook hands afterwards, and B-Boy helped a dizzy Sabian out of
the ring arena.

Backstage
Scott D'Amore and Elsa Bangz are giving BCP a pep-talk/massage.

D'Amore: "Tonight, we will reach new heights. We will defeat Triple X, stomp them down in the mud, and then, nobody can stop BCP from ruling this company.

Petey: "A little more to the left, Elsa.. yes, that's great!"

Doug: "I don't know Scott. I mean, Triple X are really good, they have the Heavyweight champ and the top contender."

D'Amore: "Yes, they are all better wrestlers than you, no doubt."

This causes all three to turn around and stare incredulously at D'Amore, who is tapping his head with his fingers.

D'Amore: "That's why we'll outsmart them. Listen, you all know of the problems between Low Ki and Daniels. Well, here's what we'll do.."

D'Amore moves in close, and the camera can't pick up what he's saying.

Air Paris, Jerelle Clark and Michael Shane defeated
Buck Quartermain, D-Ray 3000 and Shark Boy when M. Shane pinned Shark Boy
with the Picture Perfect Elbow in 0:13:21.
Rating: ***

Six man tag action coming up, as D-Ray 3000 brings in his old partner
from TNA, Shark Boy! The team of Air Paris and Jerelle Clark did also
bring in a TNA wrestler, none other than Michael Shane!
Buck immediately tried to ground Jerelle, but the high-flyer soon got
out his reach, taking him down with an asai moonsault. Clark followed it
up with a Skytwister Press and then almost made Quartermain submit to
a short arm scissors. Clark is a man with many talents, that much is
obvious. The presence of Shark Boy and Shane only added to the many
talents involved in this match, turning it into a fast-paced quick-tagged
multi-match with several wrestler involved in the ring at once.
Shark Boy got a great reception here, and even though he doesn't win
a lot, he is sort of an indy cult hero. And even though he took the pin
here tonight, falling victim for Shane's elbow drop, the fans still chanted
his name as the losers left the ring.

Nigel McGuinness and John Walters defeated
The Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero) when N. McGuinness pinned
R. Reyes with the Guvnor's Crumpet in 0:22:02.
Rating: ***

The pairing of John Walters and Nigel McGuinnes makes sense in so many
ways... but could they defeat the stiffness of the Havana Pitbulls?
They had the weight advantage, the Pitbulls the experience factor as a
team. McGuinness had sort of fallen into the shadows after his matches
with Chris Benoit, and a win here could propel him further up the IWA
rankings.

An early Romero Special from Rocky took a lot of energy from Walters,
and McGuinness had to bail him out to avoid a quick loss. Nigel had to
stay in the ring for a while now while Walters rejuvenated, faring
quite well against the former RoH Tag Champs. A powerful lariat yielded
a 2 count, and several submission moves wore down Romero. The clock
approached the 20 minute marker when all four men crashed together in
the ring, causing confusion and mayhem. McGuinness hit Reyes with the
Guvnor's Crumpet, but the ref was busy watching Walters and Romero,
and by the time she was ready to count, Reyes kicked out. Walters disposed
of Romero, allowing McGuinness to go for the Crumpet for the second
time. This time, ref Mitchell was ready and counted the 3. Big win here
for Walters and McGuinness!

AJ Styles pinned Homicide with the Styles Clash in 0:09:04.
Rating: *** 1/2

Many had looked forward to this match, which could possibly be the
sleeper hit of the night. Styles taking the initiative in the start,
taking down Homicide with the Discus lariat. Homicide returned the favor
with a powerful right hook followed by a faceslam, but this was Styles'
match, no doubt. When Homicide went for a brain buster, Styles rolled
him up quickly with a small package. Homicide kicked out but ran right
into a hard DDT, almost knocking him out. Styles scooped him up with
the Styles Clash to win for the cheering crowd.

Styles quickly grabs a mic.

Styles: 'I've been called a poster boy for a lot of companies. Many
feels that is a bad thing. Maybe it's cuz of the envy and jealousy.
But you know what? If ah am the poster boy of IWA:NE, I'm damn proud
of it, cuz this promotion rocks! Happy birthday, IWA:NE!

Triangle Match:
Generation Next (Jack Evans and Jason Cross) defeated
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) and
The Spanish Announce Team (Joel Maximo and Jose Maximo) when J. Cross pinned
Jose after an inside cradle in 0:08:50.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Generation Next retained the IWA Tag Team Titles.)

Was the long reign of Generation Next at its end tonight? The 2 top
teams in IWA was gunning for the belts, and this time, Roderick Strong
couldn't bail them out. What made it worse, it looked like the SAT and
the Briscoes were collaborating in the start, helping each other out
to avoid being hit by Gen Next's high flying moves.
Such alliances are always brittle, and as Joel bumped into Jay on the
outside, the Briscoes and the SATs starting brawling, allowing Evans
to hit a senton on Jose for a 2 count. Cross continued to punish Jose
with a DDT on the knee followed by a sommersault legdrop. The fans
definetely didn't like that, and some even threw beer into the ring
at Cross. Cross decided to take a break yelling at the fan, allowing
Jose to hit a rana. Shockingly, referee Mason McAteer refused to count
due to the fan's action. Jose got into McAteer's face, allowing Cross
to hit an inside cradle for the quick pin. The SAT's and the Briscoes
couldn't believe what just happened, as Evans and Cross slid out of the
ring and escaped with Francine to the back. Joel even slapped the
official, something that is certain to cause repercussions.

Four Corners Match:
Mikey Batts defeated Chris Harris, Roderick Strong and Balls Mahoney when
M. Batts pinned C. Harris with the Batts Beater in 0:26:52.
Rating: *** 3/4

Huge four corner match, with the opportunity to really rise in the IWA
ranks. Chris Harris had his shot at gold last month, and needed a win
to stay in the main event scene. Mikey Batts has risen to one of the
company's most popular athletes, but was surely outweighed in this one.
Roderick Strong took a huge step forward when he beat Homicide and AJ
last month, and the mystery man was Balls Mahoney! Could Mahoney be
the wildcard here? The New Jersey native was by far the biggest man
in the ring, weighing more than twice Batts' weight.

Strong and Batts started out, but Strong immediately tagged Mahoney,
bringing the extreme weight difference to play early. Batts was not
deterred, as he took on the big Mahoney with rapid strikes to the mid.
Batts attempted a body press, but Mahoney caught him easily and power-
slammed him. Strong tagged himself in now that Batts were roughened up,
but fell prey to a spinning headscissors. Batts then power bombed Strong,
and tagged Harris who hit Strong with a flying legdrop. Nice teamwork.

Strong and Harris continued to fight each other for some time, realizing
that pinning Batts or Mahoney wouldn't mean as much as pinning each
other. Strong, of all people, should know the danger of this tactic, as
he took advantage of that last month.

Mahoney entered the match again now, trying to power down the smaller
opponents. A power bomb on Harris nearly took the Wildcat away, but
before he could make the pin, Batts performed the 450 on Harris. Mahoney
easily dragged Batts away from the pin attempt. Then, Strong took
Mahoney's legs down, causing the big man to fall on top of Strong,
clutching his legs. Batts took advantage of this by hitting Harris with
the Batts Beater, winning this high profile match!
Pinning the former top contender must be a great stepping stone for
Batts, and he didn't hide his pleasure, celebrating like crazy in the
ring before he went through the crowd, giving high fives all around.

Backstage
Daniels is meditating, as Skipper and Low Ki enter the locker room.

Skipper: "It's time. You ready Chris?"

Daniels: "The One is always ready to defend the Holy Trinity's honor."

Low Ki: "Here we go again... " Low Ki mumbles. He turns around and confronts Daniels. "Listen, I'm not about to lose to a team led by a fat, mumbling Canadian and a over-the-top pierced pornstar. You got that? Can you bring forth the inner rage you once had, or is this... new age bullcrap still running your brain?"

Daniels: "You are wrong, my disillusioned friend. It's not running my brain. It's running my heart. And do not fret, my inner self was like this when I defeated Samoa Joe. So this state of mind will win us the day tonight. Come, let's proceed to the squared square."

Low Ki: "Unbelievable.. what a nutjob..." he mutters as Daniels walks away.

Border City Patrol (Doug Williams, Kevin Steen and Petey Williams) defeated
Triple X (Christopher Daniels, Elix Skipper and Low Ki) when D. Williams pinned
Ki with the Revolution DDT in 0:16:17.
Rating: ****

Finally, Triple X goes 3 on 3 with the Border City Patrol.
The IWA Champion Christopher Daniels came out alone at first, and then
SKipper and Low Ki made their entrance. WHile Skipper hugged and high-
fived both Ki and Daniels, the champ and the top contender had minimal
contact prior to the match.

Pandemonium in the opening minutes as all 6 men, plus Scott D'Amore
brawl in and out of the ring. The mayhem calms down eventually, pairing
Low Ki and Petey in the ring. Ki counters the Canadian Destroyer into
a backdrop into the turnbuckle. And while SKipper holds Petey down,
Low Ki runs in with a koppo kick. Ki tags in Daniels, trying to double
team Kevin Steen. Miscommunication causes Steen to prevent the double
teaming, instead taking them down with a double headsmash. Steen then
hits a moonsault on Ki, but the number one contender kicks out. Ki
then gets into Daniels' face, cursing him out. Skipper gets in the ring
to calm them down. BCP takes advantage of this, hitting the ring at once
while D'Amore shouts: 'Go Go Go'. Obviously, this was anticipated as
BCP knew exactly what they were doing. Steen, Petey, Daniels and Skipper
all went over the rope, landing in a pile on the outside, as Doug
Williams caught the unaware Ki with the Revolution DDT, spiking him to
the ground and winning the match.

After the match, Low Ki tried to attack Daniels, but Skipper hold him
back, motioning for Daniels to walk away. Daniels didn't do that, but
instead grabbed hold of a microphone.

Daniels: 'It is obvious to me, and to anyone else, that we couldn't let
our issue rest, which caused us to lose the main event of the Anniversary
show. But you see, if we can't get along, then Triple X is no more. And
if Triple X is no more, than the Border City Patrol has won. So, Low-Ki,
you must ask yourself. Which is the biggest enemy. Me, or the BCP?

Daniels gets back in the ring and extends his hand to Low Ki. Low Ki
slowly paces around the ring while the crowd chants 'shake it, shake it'
Low Ki reluctantly shakes Daniels' hand, and then quickly slides out
of the ring.

I'd like to see Jack Evans face John Cena in a Rap Contest. =)

Sux that LA Park no showed - hopefully IWA:NE will give him another chance to dazzle the fans with his skills.

OOO that D'Amore sure knows how to capitalize on a faction's dissension.

Personally I think Michael Shane & Shark Boy are the best guys in that 6 man and if I know any better, i'd say THEY got the most in ring time out of all 6 men. Shark Boy's popularity reminds me of when he was in XPW and many people (myself included) would bring blow up sharks to the events to show our support for the man from "A Thousand Leagues Below the Sea" or wherever he hails from.

Big win over The Havana Pitbills - nice job Nigel & Walters. They almost lost it due to the ref's inability to count the right pin but were still able to take it home.

I think it's time that the fans over at Hard Knox in Long Island see Styles vs Homicide. *places a phone call to Mr. Homicide* =)

Nice win for Gen Next over two great teams - one of them being the reigning champs over at Hard Knox Wrestling. Nice ending - as you can see, The SAT are not a team to cross if you are an in ring official.

Huge win for BCP over XXX. I see this being the beginning of the end for XXX.

A Cena vs Jack Evans rap-feud was a feud I had in mind in my now defunct WWE fed.. unfortunately it never came to fruition. I was planning on having Eminem referee the match...  ;D

LA Park will not be penalized for no-showing. Whenever a no-show occurs, I draw a random card from a deck. The higher the value, the better the excuse. With Park, I drew a Queen, so I came up with the idea that it was, in fact, IWA's fault who didn't check the dates. In an earlier example, a Jimmy Jacobs no-show yielded a 2... he's not here anymore..

Triple X is really in trouble now, and Scott D'Amore is soooo happy about it. The tension will get even thicker next show.

IWA:NE News Report - 04.10.06

IWA's First Anniversary Show was a formidable success, and the fine crowd in Reading, Pennsylvania will be treated to a follow-up show on Tuesday. Yes, it is Valentine's Day, and IWA:NE are taking a huge chance by holding a major show on this date. Hopefully, the card will attract lovers, the lonely and whole families.

The Border City Patrol and Triple X are obvious not through with each other. Even though BCP won the huge six-man-tag at the First Anniversary show, new matches have been signed for Victorious Valentine. First up, Kevin Steen vs Elix Skipper. Mr Wrestling is the youngest member of the BCP, and Skipper is the lowest ranked member of Triple X. This match, however, pales in comparison to a triple threat match, including Low-Ki and one of the Williams. No word as of yet if it is Doug or Petey. What is known, is that Mikey Batts will be the third guy. This is a major match, as the winner will surely get a title shot along the line.

Huge 12-man tag match as one of the main attractions. the Briscoes and the SAT's have challenged Generation Next to a big match. Generation Next need to pick up 3 extra members, while the challengers only need two.

As both the Briscoes and the SAT's have failed to capture the tag-team gold, new tag-teams try to make a name for themselves in IWA:NE. Victorious Valentine will feature two tag-team matches, where the winners are bound to be recognized as a serious threat. First up, Buck Quartermain & D-Ray 3000 vs The Havana Pitbulls. Then, Nigel McGuinness & John Walters vs the Messiah & Homicide

According to IWA:NE management, all contracted wrestlers are scheduled to appear. In what capacity IWA:NE Heavyweight champion Christopher Daniels will take part is not known at this time.
VertigoPosted on 04/18/05 at 02:29:31

Not a fan of any rap gimmick... including Jack Evans. I hope the Briscoes or the SATs (mainly) kick GN's asses.

I like Messiah a lot. One of my favorite indy guys right now, but that's not saying much because I don't know all that many (I've been getting my indy tapes recently, though!). Sucks he was a replacement and he should be pissed! He won, too! We'll see if he's seen as a second rate performer again.

D'Amore has quite a mouth on him and almost got beat for it. I wonder what D'Amore has up his sleeve for Triple X and even more so, will it work?

Six man tag action looked good tonight. In the first one, you really put Shark Boy over in the match review? Will he be in IWA:NE long term? I hope.

Nigel and Walters is a good pairing and they proved it by defeating the Havanna Pitbulls which is no easy task of course. Nigel may slowly be crawling back into things now and we may see a long term tag relationship with him and Walters if they can keep this up.

Yes, after that brief statement in the ring, I would AJ Styles is the posterboy of this company.

Damnit! Generation Next won! The SATS definatly appeared the most upset by the loss. Someone will take down Gen Next and soon... I hope!

Somehow Batts walked away with the win in a match where he may have been seen has the least likely to win. I'm surprised Balls Mahoney didn't win,but just because you're bigger doesn't mean you're better and Batts proved that.

BCP's plan to make Triple X beat themselves WORKED... but not for long. Daniels and Ki have apparently agreed to keep things between them aside until they can put an end to BCP. I don't know how likely it is that they can coexist, but hey, A for effort.
