HARD KNOX WRESTLING - APRIL 8 2006
Shaun Sindelman | Posted on 04/12/05 at 05:58:39 SCHOOL OF HARD KNOX - PUT UP OR SHUT UP DATE: APRIL 8 2006 LOCATION: SPORTSTIME USA - BETHPAGE, LONG ISLAND It's been one week since Hard Knox participated in the inaugural `Battle of Long Island' with LIW. What an event that was! If you missed it, I suggest you go out and get a copy of the DVD immediately. We will talk about the events of that night in more detail as the night goes on but right now, we have an opening match to check out. Johnny Ace enters the ring and lays out Scott Starring.Scott Starring and Van Wild defeated Triple Threat (Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Ace) when Van Wild pinned C. Palumbo with the Wild Ride in 0:07:04. Rating: **** 1/4 Wild & Starring came off the Battle of Long Island with a loss to the NEW tag team #1 contenders, BJ Whitmer & Rhyno. They obviously wanted to stay in the title race and that in itself was enough motivation to get the win over Triple Threat tonight. After the match, D'Lo Brown confronted Ace about his actions at Battle of Long Island. In case you didn't see it, Johnny Ace was accused of being a `racist' by Too Cold Scorpio and Simon Diamond. Ace didn't know what Brown was talking about but Brown wasn't hearing anything of it and threw a punch at Ace. Both men began to brawl but Chuck Palumbo broke them up in quick fashion. Ace and Palumbo headed up the aisle to the back and left D'Lo Brown in the center of the ring. He looked around at the crowd for a moment and then headed towards the back as well. Next up - The SAT defend the *Heavy Hitters* tag titles against BJ Whitmer & RHYNO! Rhyno throws Rudy Charles out of the ring.[Heavy Hitters title defense]: The Spanish Announce Team (Joel Maximo and Jose Maximo) defeated Rhyno and BJ Whitmer when Jose pinned Whitmer with the Maximizer in 0:13:40. Rating: *** 1/4 (The Spanish Announce Team retained the HEAVY HITTERS.) There was a lot of damage done by both teams to their opponents while the referee was unconcious on TWO occasions. I think this was the deciding factor in the victory by The SAT. Now i'm sure everyone including myself are asking the same question... Can ANYONE dethrone these two men of the tag titles? Interview: Backstage confrontation between D Lo Brown & Ace We had ourselves a backstage altercation as D'Lo Brown got in the face of Johnny Ace for the second time tonight. Ace obviously was having nothing of this and began to throw some punches right back at Brown. They brawled out to the ring and around ringside. Chuck Palumbo ran down to ringside but unlike last time, he did not break up the brawl. Instead, he joined in with Ace on double teaming Brown. Shane Douglas joined in as well and SURPRISE SURPRISE, out of nowhere came CHRIS CANDIDO & JOHNNY STAMBOLI to add some punishment to Brown. They let up on Brown after the officials came down to break things up. Shane grabbed a nearby microphone and said this: "D'Lo, just like everyone else that has crossed The Triple Threat in the past, you have just been FRANCHISED!!! In case you don't understand what that means, it's simple - you've been replaced by talent that can get the job done whenever it's needed. You've been replaced by "NO GIMMICKS NEEDED" CHRIS CANDIDO and "THE HIRED HITMAN" JOHNNY STAMBOLI"." Shane left ringside followed by his `gang' of men. Next up - CM Punk faces AJ Styles. CM Punk lost to Christopher Daniels at the Battle of Long Island and now he is looking to restart his upward mobility with a possible win over "Role Model" AJ Styles. AJ Styles goes for a reverse neckbreaker, but CM Punk counters it with a facerake.AJ Styles pinned CM Punk with the Styles Clash in 0:09:13. Rating: *** CM Punk did not get the win he was hoping for and instead, it was AJ Styles who moved up a few spots in the singles rankings. Next - Amazing Red & Spikyjim face off. Both men suffered losses at Battle of Long Island. Amazing Red lost to Don Juan but in the process, he cause Don Juan to dislocate his shoulder. As for Spiky, he got himself DQ-ed against El Mephisto. What will happen when these two hook it up? Amazing Red sends Spikyjim into the turnbuckle, but Spikyjim reverses it.Spikyjim pinned Amazing Red with the The Living End in 0:16:50. Rating: *** 1/4 An amazing match between these two men. Towards the end of the match, both men tried a sunset flip power bomb that ended up blocked by the opposing man. It was the dreaded Blue Mist from Spikyjim that blinded Red and gave Spiky the opening to hit his Living End finisher for the 3 count. Coming up - Xavier and Zach Gowen team up to face Raven and The Flock's resident big man, ABYSS! Gowen got a HUGE win over LIW's `British Sensation' Johnny Storm He then reunited with former tag partner, Chris Sabin for a brief moment after Johnny Storm's friends in New Europe were chased away by Sabin and his friends in The Usurpers. Raven enters the ring to make it two-on-one.The Flock (Abyss and Raven) defeated Xavier and Zach Gowen when Abyss pinned Xavier with the Black Hole Slam in 0:07:26. Rating: *** Up next - Raven's second in command of The Flock, Tommy Dreamer faces Raven's constant thorn in the side, Chris Benoit. Benoit faced Arn Anderson at Battle of Long Island and got very close to beating `The Enforcer' but it was Arn who's arm was raised at the end of the match. Tommy Dreamer goes for a clothesline, but Chris Benoit ducks it.Chris Benoit pinned Tommy Dreamer after a crucifix in 0:22:26. Rating: *** 3/4 [Christopher Daniels interfered against Chris Benoit.] Benoit got the victory despite the presence of Christopher Daniels at ringside. What exactly does `The Fallen Angel' want with `The Crippler' Chris Benoit? Once the ring cleared out, we were joined by the 4 active members of The Triple Threat along with their manager/leader, `The Franchise' Shane Douglas. Douglas issued a challenge to any 5 men to come down to the ring and face his guys in an I QUIT contest. Mohammed Yone was the first person to come down. He was then joined by Chris Hero. Shane then looked at the two of them and said "OK - i'm glad to see there are TWO brave souls in that entire locker room who are willing to step up to my guys. Can we get another three or is this going to be a handicap match?" All of a sudden, we heard "FIRE" by Scooter over the PA system as STEVE CORINO came through the crowd and hopped the guardrail to stand at ringside. We then heard "Special Delivery" by G-Dep as SONNY SIAKI stood on the stage. He walked off the stage and down the aisle to join Corino at ringside. Shane got back on the microphone and said "Well Well - I see that The Triple Threat does indeed have some competition in front of them. But I do believe I asked for FIVE men and I only see four. That's when we heard the instrumental version of 50 Cent's "Realest Killaz" play over the PA system and out through the backstage curtain came LOW-KI!!! Shane got on the microphone and said "Now THAT's more like it. Glad to see 5 brave men could come together to face us." Low-Ki began to walk down the aisle when he was attacked from behind by DEAN MALENKO!!! The fight is on the outside.10 Man I Quit Match: Triple Threat (Chuck Palumbo, Johnny Ace, Johnny Stamboli, and Chris Candido) along with Dean Malenko defeated Mohammed Yone, Chris Hero, Steve Corino, Low-Ki and Sonny Siaki when Ace made Yone submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:23:32. Rating: ** 3/4 This was quite the interesting match. It went both ways many times but in the end, it was Mohammed Yone who would be the one to say I QUIT. Yone was very upset with himself for letting his team down but that didn't last long as The Triple Threat continued to brawl with him and their other four opponents for several minutes before officials broke the melee up. Next up - Don Harris was pretty pissed off at Hard Knox when he heard the news that his brother, Ron Harris was being fired for participating at Battle of Long Island under the banner of LIW. Harris went to the Hard Knox officials and voiced his disgust with them. As a result, they have booked him in a 2 of 3 Falls match against LIW's former champ and now mainstay in Hard Knox, Alex Wright. Wright was joined by his manager from LIW, MsChif. It seems that LIW got her license suspended and Hard Knox agreed to pay the proper sum to get her a new license as long as she gave it some thought to `jumping ship'. Alex Wright takes Don Harris down with a back heel kick. Two out of Three Falls Match: Alex Wright beat Don Harris 2 falls to 1: x Wright beat Heavy D via the Bavarian Neckbreaker in 0:07:56 x Heavy D beat A. Wright via a power bomb in 0:13:59 x Wright beat Heavy D via the Bavarian Neckbreaker in 0:21:26 Rating: ** 1/4 [MsChif interfered against Don Harris.] Don Harris suffered a loss to Alex Wright after Wright won the match 2 falls to 1. Harris stormed to the back and left the building immediately. Obviously he is 0% happy with being in Hard Knox if his brother is not around. Coming up - Juventud Guerrera has been running his mouth quite a bit as of late talking about how he is the longest running champion in the business right now. Hard Knox caught wind of his boasting and has decided to make him put his `skills' to the test. He will first face an UNKNOWN challenger in a NON TITLE contest. Immediately thereafter, he will be facing THREE other men in a 4 way Dance WITH the *Head of the Class* singles title ON THE LINE. Juventud Guerrera places Sean Waltman on the turnbuckle.Sean Waltman pinned Juventud Guerrera after a spinning heel kick in 0:11:40. Rating: *** This is already looking to be a BAD night for Juvy. As for Waltman, he walks away with a HUGE non title victory over the current Head of the Class, Juventud Guerrera. Juvy got up off the apron and slid into the nearby corner. He patiently awaited the arrival of the 3 challengers in this TITLE contest. First man out was MAFIA. Following him was `The Fallen Angel' CHRISTOPHER DANIELS. The 3 men stood in opposite corners of the ring all staring at each other. That's when we heard the same Arabic chanting from a few weeks back. Out came Shawn Davari but he was in a suite and joined by MUHAMMAD HASSAN!!! Muhammad got in the ring and was attacked immediately by Mafia. Juvy and Daniels climbed to the apron and we had ourselves a match. Christopher Daniels throws Mafia into the turnbuckle.[Head of the Class title defense]: Four Corners Match: Muhammad Hassan defeated Juventud Guerrera, Christopher Daniels and Mafia: x Mafia beat C. Daniels via the Burning Hammer in 0:23:03 x J. Guerrera beat Mafia via the Juvi Driver in 0:28:51 x M. Hassan beat J. Guerrera when Guerrera passed out in a cobra clutch in 0:35:57 Rating: **** 1/2 (Muhammad Hassan won the HEAD OF THE CLASS.) OH MY GOD!!! Muhammad Hassan has just taken away the Head of the Class from Juventud Guerrera who actually outlasted two other opponents before becoming a victim to Hassan's trickery. Prior to the two of them being the last men left, Mafia had eliminated Christopher Daniels. Hassan then handed Juvy a fall by tagging the champ in after Mafia had been manhandled by Muhammad for several minutes. Hassan spit on Guerrera and held the title high as he walked to the back along with his manager, Shawn Daivari. The entire time, the fans were throwing garbage in his direction. Card rating: **** In 2 weeks, we'll be back at Sportstime USA for another Hard Knox event. On the card thus far is the following matches: * A Round Robin contest between the 3 top guys in the company. Winner will walk away with a title shot in the near future. Johnny Ace vs Chris Benoit vs Christopher Daniels. Order of matchups will be determined the night of the event. * AJ Styles meets Zach Gowen in a Top Contenders match * Raven gets the title shot that he won a month back and he will face NEW champion, Muhammad Hassan. More matches to be determined within the coming weeks. |
rey619 | Posted on 04/12/05 at 09:26:33 Oh my god... Hassan as new champ... can't believe it.. it seems that no champion gets by this card.. as it is damn hard to fight twice in one night. Actually, this is all Alex Wright's fault! If Critic hadn't lost Alex, he wouldn't had double booked him to lose ;D Anyway, Yone causing the defeat? Not surprised there, he has been on tilt lately. D'Lo let the racist rumors push him out of the Triple Threat, too bad for him, as Shane's group will take control over things from now on. The SATs have a firm grip on the Tag Titles, they seem almost invincible. That is why I don't feel guilty for not giving them my tag belts. That would really gone to their heads. Don and Ron are pretty close, so I can understand Don's ire. I remember back when I *tried* TEW.. I fired Ron and instantly appeared on Don's hate list. I am really glad to see Raven and Abyss defeat Xavier and Gowen.. Abyss could probably break Zach in two. Not too happy about seeing Styles vs Gowen for the top contendership.. but Gowen has been winning matches in Hard Knox so I guess it makes sense. Good work! |
Vertigo | Posted on 04/15/05 at 20:34:28 From what I've seen from Starring and Van Wyld, they always put on good matches in SHK. I'm starting to get behind them... and maybe they will be the team that can dethrone The SAT. Unbelievable turn on D'Lo. The Triple Threat are being portrayed as racists... or that's how it came off. In any event, I mark for Candido. And Stamboli is a great addition as well. CM Punk should not be ashamed by first losing to Daniels, and now Styles. Both are great performers. The 10 man I Quit match was a huge win for The Triple Threat as it solidified them as a dominant stable. Their opponents were no pushovers, either. Too bad Yone quit... would have liked to see any of the other guys quit instead. It appears that Alex Wright has The Harris Brothers's numbers. He beats Ron Harris in LIW and now proves himself in SHK with a victory over Don Harris. Juvy losing to Waltman sucks, and then losing the title to Hassan after outlasting two other guys REALLY sucks! Now Hassan holds TWO Championship on the TNM board and will likely be ranked... worst. Raven better dethrone him, and Juvy better get a rematch if Raven can't get the job done. |
Shaun Sindelman | Posted on 04/15/05 at 20:47:27 Thanks for the comments, Vertigo. I'm glad you are getting behind Wild & Starring - they are pretty damn good e-wrestlers and equally good in this TNM circuit. In a small tag division, they shine nicely. I will say that the titles HAVE changed hands but won't announce to who until the formal results come out. I wouldn't say that Shane's gang of men are racists - they just like Johnny Ace better than D'Lo. Besides, D'Lo was a liability to them with his injury. CM Punk is definitely holding his own but still, Raven expected more of him when he added him to The Flock. Yea - very interesante that Yone was the one who fell during the I Quit tag match. The opposition that came to me randomly was indeed impressive (and sometimes unlikely to be tagging together) Wright did get the impressive win over Don Harris but lets see how he holds his own against other guys in the company. It was just not Juvy's night I guess - hopefully the 2 losses in 1 night wont discourage him to jump ship. Hassan was a bit of a surprise to me as the random challenger and hopefully someone will dethrone him - whether it's Raven, i won't say. =) There are some nice top contenders lined up so Hassan better be on top of his game or he will be a short lived champion. |
americamamushi | Posted on 04/15/05 at 22:46:38 Nice strong open to the card. Racist Ace lives! :D Expected Rhyno & BJ to take the titles from SAT tonight. Seems like a strong showing at least. Abyss DESROYS>!?! Xavier. No surprise. After, all, he is a monster. What does Daniels want with Benoit? I'm curious to know. Daniels better realize who exactly he is starting stuff with though. Big win by Triple Threat. And the Franchise & company keep on truckin' Wow... Hassan wins the title? Color me surprised. Though I suppose given the compition he's just about as good as Daniels winning or Juvy retaining. Could be interesting to see the direction you take this in now. There's some long awaited feedback Shaunzie. Don't worry, I may not comment on every single one at the moment (felt kind burned out on TNM circuits lately) but I still read Hard Knox. ;D |
