WF Taping #8: A Champion is Crowned on 2/22/06

Raven pinned Stevie Richards with the Raven Effect in 0:05:27.
Raven suffered a broken ankle. He will be out for approximately 7 cards.

----Before the match, Commissioner Greenberg said that if the masked man interfered in the match, Stevie Richards would be suspended and the man would be unmasked right here and now.  Well, he did not interfere and Raven picked up the win.  After the match was another story however.  Right after the bell rang, the masked man came down to the ring, but was intercepted by Vampiro.  As Vampiro held him, Raven grabbed the mic, and said "I know who you are, and before you are revealed to everyone, I will give you one week to make your decision."  With that, the masked man kicked Vampiro in the balls.  Stevie got back up and took out Vamp, and The Masked Man went at it with Raven.  Finally, the man put Raven's ankle in between a chair and Pillman-ized his ankle!  This will for sure take Raven out of the remainder of the tournament, and how much longer??----

**JUSTIN & PSICOSIS GO TO NY**

----After the match, we see pre-taped footage of Justin Credible and Psicosis, the Tag Team champions, boarding on a plane.  Psicosis is in full garb including his mask.  Justin, obviously embarrassed by Psiscosis' outfit, and the fact that he will be taking the  Mexican star to his hometown, started yelling at Psicosis, the two got into a shoving match, and were then escorted from the plane
by security.  Will they even get to NY?----

Ken Shamrock defeated Muhammad Hassan by countout in 0:00:27.

----27 seconds, that's all it took.  Muhammad Hassan came to the ring, so did Ken Shamrock.  When the bell rang, Hassan went full speed at Shamrock, and the former UFC star caught Hassan in an ankle lock. Hassan got to the ropes, the ref seperated them, and Hassan slid out of the ring and hauled ass back to the locker room, giving Shamrock the count out win.  After the win, Shamrock stood by the ring ropes calling Hassan back.  From the crowd came Test and Shawn Daivari who proceeded to beat Shamrock to a bloody pulp in the ring.  We know Raven can't continue, will Shamrock be able to?----

**Justin & Psicosis go to NY, Part II**

----We join Justin and Psicosis who apparently were able to get on the plane.  The two, didn't talk to each other throughout the entire vignette.  However, when they got off the plane, NYPD officers were standing there and took Psicosis in custody for suspicious behavior.  Justin was then seen explaining to the officers that Psicosis is indeed a pro wrestler, and that is why he is in the goofy costume.  Overhearing this, Psicosis went after Justin, and the two were again pulled apart by officers.----

Shane Helms defeated Johnny Nitro by disqualification in 0:14:38.

[Melina interfered against Shane Helms.]
[Joey Matthews interfered against Shane Helms.]

----Shane Helms would have had the win either way, but it was by disqualification that he advanced to the FINALS of the tournament.  The winner of this match was slated to wrestle the winner of the Raven vs. Stevie match, but since Raven was injured, Helms gets a bye to the finals.  In the match itself Helms had to fight off Melina, Joey Matthews, AND his opponent, Johnny Nitro.  Finally, after hitting the vertebreaker on Nitro, Helms went for the pin, Melina entered the ring, and hit Shane with a chair
causing the DQ.  After the match, the three continued their assault on Helms.  So in the next round, we have a bloody Ken Shamrock, a beaten up Shane Helms, and an injured Raven who cannot compete. Whoever wins the next match between Vampiro and the Patriot may have the best chance in the tournament.----

Vampiro pinned The Patriot with the Vampiro Spike in 0:09:21.

----Vampiro rounds out the Final four in the World Title tournament.  The canadian superstar defeated
The Patriot in a very good encounter that had the fans into the match from beginning to end.  The commissioner again came out before the match and banned anyone from interfering in the match.   Vampiro picked up the win the Vampiro Spike a little before the 10 minute mark, and left the ring unscathed.  He Has to be the favorite as the tournament continues.----

**Justin & Psicosis go to NY, Part III**

----At this point, the two had finally left the airport and were walking down the streets of New York. A group of people gathered, and started staring down Psicosis and Justin.  Chants of "Freak! Freak!" began in the city streets and the group chased Psicosis and Justin.  The tag champions ducked into the nearest bar, which turned out to be a gay/lesbian bar.  One of the men began hitting on Justin, and Credible decked him, at that point a fight broke out in the bar, and Nicole Bass, who happened to be there, went after the tag champs as well.  The two were thrown out of the bar, and into the city night.----

Shane Helms won over Raven via default.

----Raven, was obviously unable to continue in the tournament, giving Shane Helms a berth in the
finals.  He needed the break, as his body was still recovering from the bruises earlier on.  Shane
faces the winner of Ken Shamrock/Vampiro, which is next!----

Vampiro pinned Ken Shamrock after a tiger driver in 0:14:28.

----Damn Hassan, Daivari and Test.  Damn them!  Vampiro picked up the win against Ken Shamrock after the men provided enough interference.  The commissioner had banned them from the ring, but that didn't matter.  While Shamrock was in the ring, well on his way to victory, a video began playing on the monitor, of The trio bashing the windows out of Shamrock's car.  This proved enough a distraction for Shamrock, as Vampiro hit a tiger driver and picked up the victory.  Sensing Shamrock was on the verge
of snapping, Vampiro slid out of the ring as soon as the three count was registered.  Shamrock went nuts taking out the referee, time keeper, ring announcer, and the ringside steps.  Shamrock went flying into the back, and was ambushed by the trio the minute he went behind the curtain.  The beatings continued until Shamrock was again left in a bloody mess, when Taz finally made the save for his friend.----

**Justin & Psicosis go to NY, Part IV**

----As Justin and Psicosis finally made it to Justin's neighborhood of Ozone, the two were approached by a gang who had problems with Justin when he was younger.  The gang told Psicosis to leave, or else he would get hurt.  Psicosis, already furious at Justin, obliged and walked away.  The four gang members proceeded to beat up Justin busting his face open.  At that point, Psicosis returned with a baseball bat and took out the four gang members to save his teammate!!  Psicosis went to lift up Justin, but Credible pushed him away, and began walking away.  Leaving the masked Psicosis, costume and all, to deal with the gang as they were getting back up.

Is this what he meant by making him tougher???----

----UP NEXT, THE LADDER MATCH FOR THE WORLD TITLE!!!!----

Ladder Match for the vacant IWF World Title:
Shane Helms defeated Vampiro in 0:31:51.

(Shane Helms won the IWF World Title.)

----A half hour later, Shane Helms is your first World Champion!  Helms retrieved the IWF Title, a  little after the half hour mark, in what could only be described as a grueling match.  The two went toe to toe, pulling out all the spots.  Only so many words could describe this ladder match, but in the end, Shane Helms stood tall to a humongous ovation from the crowd.  As the show went
off the air, Helms on the mic, promised to represent the IWF and hold the title with pride, defending it against all comers.  He even accepted his first title match.  Next week, in a rematch against Vampiro!----

Again great stuff between Justin & Psicosis.

With Raven out for alittle while, will Vampiro pick up the feud with Stevie & The Masked Man?

Shane Helms as World Champ? The jury is still out on that one.

All around good tournament. Next show sounds like a "rocket-buster"
