IWA:NE - The Best There Ever Will Be - 01.15.06

rey619Posted on 04/04/05 at 13:24:48

The date is January 15th, IWA:NE is in Providence, Rhode Island. Tonight's main event will be Chris Harris challenging Christopher Daniels for the IWA Heavyweight Title. We'll go straight to footage from Triple X arriving at the arena earlier today.

Daniels, Ki and Skipper arrive, carrying bags over their shoulders as they make their way to the entrance. Chris Harris in street clothes block their path.

Harris: "Daniels, tonight your reign as champion is cut short by the Wildcat. Beating Samoa Joe last month was the highlight of your career, tonight will be mine. And to ensure a fair playground, I had President DeMei ban Triple X from ringside.

Low-Ki steps ahead of Daniels, locking his stare with Harris'. Daniels slowly pushes Ki, away, calming him.

Daniels: "Don't fret, my friend. There will be no need for a ban. I have told Brandon and Elix that this will be my fight to fight, alone. They will not be there, don't you worry."

the Fallen Angel walks inside, as Harris gives Low Ki one last final warning stare before he heads in another direction.

Low Ki: "He calls me Brandon?? What's up with that guy?"

Skipper: "Relax man, he's the Heavyweight champ. If he wants to fight his own battles, let him."

Low Ki: "Very well, but after tonight, I will be the top contender, and be it Chris Harris, or Christopher Daniels, they will not stop my momentum."

Sabian pinned Mikey Batts after a flying cross body press in 0:07:46.
Rating: **

The Rhode Island show started out with a singles match featuring Mikey
Batts and Sabian. Batts have earned the praise of several wrestlers
backstage, including Steve Corino, as witnessed in last month's tag
match with Generation Next. Sabian is an opponent Batts needed to defeat
if his rise is to continue, but the risk of high flying can sometimes
be devastating, as Batts experienced in this match. When he missed a
dive, he never recovered completely, receiving a beating on the outside
before Sabian nailed him with a body press for the pin. Could this be
the end of Batts' rise to the top?

John Walters pinned Kevin Steen with the Hurricane DDT in 0:13:12.
Rating: ** 3/4

In what was a good technical match, Mr Wrestling Kevin Steen faced John
Walters. Walters had to cope with the distracting presence of Elsa Bangz
and Scott D'Amore, but the wrestler hailed as a young Chris Benoit did
his best to defeat Steen and stop the BCP momentum that is slowly building
here in IWA:NE. Steen is indeed a tremendous talent, blending high flying
and power moves in a brilliant combination. A power bomb set up was
followed by a sommersault senton, showing he is capable of all types
of wrestling. Walters gained his senses and put Steen in a surfboard,
followed by a typical Benoit-move, a series of german suplexes.
To further insult the BCP, Walters copied Petey Williams' signature move,
the Canadian Destroyer to a devastating effect. This brought an irate
Scott D'Amore up on the apron, and while the ref was distracted, Bangz
clocked Walters with a chair. Steen slowly got up, but went for the
Package Piledriver instead of the pin, which Walters turned into a backdrop
and hit him with the Vertebreaker for the 2 count. As D'Amore and Bangz
tried to repeat their distraction-chair shot trick, Walters drop kicked
the chair into Bangz's face and nailed Steen with the Hurricane DDT for
the against-all-odds win.

We go backstage, where Cindy Strappen stands by with Petey Williams and Scott D'Amore.

Cindy: Petey.. Scott.. Elix Skipper has demanded a rematch from last month's match, which you won?

Scott (taking the mic away from Petey): "the Border City Patrol are not afraid of Elix Skipper and his challenges. Triple X will learn who is the dominant force in IWA. Us! Not only will Petey teach Skipper a lesson in the arts of wrestling, he will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the best Canadian wrestler to come about in a long, long time."

Suddenly, Teddy Hart comes into view, snapping the mic away from a stunned Amore.

Teddy: "Really? The best Canadian talent? Let me tell you something. Do you know what kind of genes run in my body? I am the grandson of legendary Stu Hart. I am the nephew of Bret and Owen Hart. My family has bled and sacrificed for this industry. Tonight, in the Four corner top contenders match, I don't see any Petey Williams. I do see the best canadian wrestler in the 21st century though, me! And I will prove, that if my uncle Bret was the Best there was, I will be the best there will be!"

Petey: "You may be a Hart, but everyone knows that the Harts are cursed. You, however, will never be cursed, cause only the greats are cursed."

Teddy: "You are right, Petey. I won't get cursed. Because I won't be bossed around, forced into situations I'm not comfortable with. And I damn sure won't end my career as a whining bastard who bitches about a screwjob. It's no such thing as a curse, just plain incompetence."

The Carnage Crew (HC Loc and Tony DeVito) defeated
Buck Quartermain and D-Ray 3000 when DeVito pinned B. Quartermain after
the Splash Mountain in 0:06:55.
Rating: * 3/4

D-Ray and Buck has teamed a couple of times as of late, and the Carnage
Crew desperately needed to win this one after being pinned in both the
four-corner matches last fall. As contract renewals were up after this
month, a loss could mean unemployment for Loc and DeVito.
The Crew tried to play to its strength, forcing Buck and D-Ray out of the
ring so they could treat them to some hardcore brawling. It succeeded,
as neither Buck nor D-Ray is used to this style of wrestling. A splash
mountain from DeVito was enough to put Quartermain away, and to probably
secure a new contract for this out-of-luck tag-team.

Triangle Match:
Roderick Strong defeated AJ Styles and Homicide when R. Strong pinned Styles
with the CX '03 in 0:16:24.
Rating: *** 1/2

In tonight's first high profile match, AJ Styles tangled yet again
with Homicide, this time with Generation Next's Roderick Strong thrown
into the mix. Both Styles and Homicide needed this win to be back in
the title hunt. Both was disappointed to be left out of the 4-corner
match, especially Homicide who was top contender but never got a shot
before losing the contendership to the current champion Christopher
Daniels. Both Styles and Homicide knew that a pin over each other would
mean more than a pin on Strong, reserving their strength against each
other while balancing the need to rest in this triangle match.
Styles had Homicide locked in an STF, but Homicide was rescued by Strong,
who didn't want to see Styles win. Strong desperately tried to take
Styles down with a backbreaker, but Styles was one step ahead all of the
time, backdropping him out of the ring, taking Francine with him in the
fall. As Strong and Styles battled it out on the outside, Homicide
rested in a corner, knowing that a pin or submission couldn't be made
on the outside, biding his time and regaining his strength. As a bloodied
Styles got into the ring, Homicide tried to take him out, but Strong
came from behind and hit Homicide with a backbreaker, then taking Styles
down with the CX '03 to win this match and rocket himself further up
the card.

Homicide slowly got up, and then vented his frustration on AJ Styles,
stomping on him and driving him down with the Cop Killa before he left
in frustration. Styles can not be happy about this, and as Homicide has
just disposed of one enemy (Teddy Hart), another one may have been made.

Number-One-Contenders-Match:
KENTA pinned Jerelle Clark with the Busaiku Knee Kick in 0:09:23.
Rating: ***

Many anticipated this match as one of the top matches of the card, as
the resident master high-flier took on KENTA of the Noah promotion.

The opening was fast-paced and even-matched, with a lot of dizzying
moves. KENTA eventually established a small advantage on Clark, taking
him down with a rana from the top rope. The high-flying was switched
out with armdrags and restholds, perfectly countered in a beautiful
symphony of holds and throws. KENTA loosened up Clark with stiff punches,
before the Busaiku Knee Kick out of knowhere sent Clark home with yet
another great match, but yet another defeat.

As KENTA posed and celebrated for the fans, Generation Next sans Strong
made their entrance. KENTA watched wearily as the tag-champs entered
the ring, and Jack Evans took a microphone.

Jack:'Now I don't know if you speak, or understand English. But understand
this, we are very impressed with your match, and we would like to make
you an honorary member of Generation Next. Whenever you feel like stopping
by the US again, come visit us, and help us maintain our gold.'

Evans stretches out his hand, and despite the crowd shouting for KENTA
not to do it, the Japanese star shakes Evans hands, nodding appreciatevely.

Tag-Team Title Match
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
Generation Next (Jack Evans and Jason Cross) when M. Briscoe defeated J. Evans
by disqualification in 0:06:02.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Generation Next retained the IWA Tag Team Titles.)

If the Briscoes were worried at Gen Next's new ally, they didn't show
it, as their only worry was getting the strap off of the champions.
And it didn't start out to well for the champions, Cross missing a plancha
and then treated to two brain busters from Jay on the outside.
A distraction from Francine allowed Cross to connect with a yakuza kick,
but the Briscoes stayed on Cross, double-teaming him until he finally
made the tag to Evans. If everything has went Gen Next's way in the
past, nothing went their way tonight. Even a Francine interference
backfired, as Mark ducked the bat swing and she took out Evans instead.
Seeing no other alternative, Roderick Strong stormed the ring and caused
the disqualification. The Briscoes tried to enact revenge, but 3 vs 2
is never easy, as Generation Next stood tall as security came to eject
Gen Next from the ring.

On their way out, Generation Next was interrupted by President DeMei.

DeMei: 'Due to time constraints and the condition of Briscoes, I cannot
restart or continue this match, even though I am dying to do so. However,
next month, you will defend your titles again. Not only against the Briscoes,
but against the SAT. And if I so much as spot Roderick Strong out here,
I will strip you of the titles. I have also instructed the janitor to
cut of the warm water to your showers, so tonight you will have to choose
between a cold shower, or smelling.'

Evans tried to attack DeMei, but security and a somewhat more sensible
Strong managed to hold him back. They then headed for the cold showers.

Adam Flash pinned Air Paris with the Last Resort in 0:13:13.
Rating: *** 1/2

Air Paris and the debuting Adam Flash put on a good match at the start
of the second half of the show. Air Paris obviously still has some
ring rust, as Adam Flash was able to take him down. A contract may
be in order for one, if not both of these wrestlers.

Table No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Steve Corino defeated The Messiah by putting him through a table in 0:10:21.
Rating: ** 1/2

The Messiah headed to the ring carrying a bag of thumbtacks. He then
grabbed a mic.

Messiah: 'Just hours ago, I was informed that LuFisto was unable to
fight, due to some injury she suffered in a crappy Canadian promotion.
Well, it figures, she just couldn't bear the pain I was to inflict
upon her. No disrespect, but ladies are not equipped to wrestling beyond
the occassional Bra & Panties matches. At least not the kind of match
that I have specialized in. So, ladies and gentlemen, there will be no
blood shed here tonight. That is, if not anyone from the back will
challenge me?' Messiah waits for maybe ten seconds, then Steve Corino
makes his way to the ring.

Corino: 'Just to inform you, Messiah. LuFisto broke her collarbone,
bruised her ribs and dislocated her knee in a hardcore fight in CWA last
night. She wanted to fight you, and the doctors had to physical restrain
her from taking the bus across the border. That, however, does not mean
there won't be a fight tonight. My sister Allison volunteered to take
LuFisto's place, but what kind off brother would let her sister into a
match with a deranged madman like you? You say you have bled for this
sport. Can you see my forehead? Can you see the scars after my numerous
cuts and bruises? Son, you haven't bled half the gallons I have. So
please, bring out the tables, bring out the thumbtacks. And let us
have a slobberknocker'

Nothing was held back in this match. With thumbtacks literally all over
the ring, all suplexes and slams were bound to hit them. A gasp went
through the crowd when Messiah faceslammed Corino unto them, and several
tacks stuck to Corinos face. Corino evened the score with a T-Bone on
top of a huge stack. the Messiah hasn't won much since his debut, and
this one was no exception. As the Messiah draped Corino across a table
with a pile of tacks beneath them, everyone thought that this would be
it. Corino rolled out in the last second, causing the Messiah to crash
through it and down unto the tacks.

Petey Williams NC Elix Skipper in 0:02:17.
Rating: ** 1/2

The war between Border City Patrol and Triple X continues, as the match
between Petey Williams and Elix Skipper went to a no contest. As the
entire stable went down to the match, Low Ki ran down and started to
kick Doug Williams. This brought on a full-fledged 3 vs 2 brawl (as
Daniels was nowhere to be seen). The BCP got the upper hand before
John Walters ran down to cause a stalemate. The ref threw out the match,

President DeMei made his way out afterwards, after a loud chant of 'Bullshit'
went through the crowd.

DeMei: 'I understand your chants, I do. But I cannot allow my workers to
run amok like this. Next month, at our anniversary show in Reading,
Pennsylvania, I'm booking a 6 man tag match. Yes, I think you know who
will be in it. It will be Triple X vs Border City Patrol. So, boys and
girls of Rhode Island, I hope we will see you in Reading.

Number-One-Contenders-Four Corners Match:
Low Ki defeated Doug Williams, Samoa Joe and Teddy Hart when Ki pinned
D. Williams with the Ki Krusher in 0:06:34.
Rating: *** 1/4

Hart looked a little out of place here among the two big men and one of
the stiffest men in the US today. But if he wanted to back up his claim
to be the best Canadian ever, he just had to win.

Ki and Williams seemed to continue the Triple X vs BCP war, as they
were relentless in their attacks on each other. This could swing both
ways, as Joe and Hart could easily swoop in for the kill. This was not
the case however, because Ki's concentrated attacks on Williams paid off
when Ki landed the top contendership after a Ki Krusher, very early in
the match. Low Ki is now the top contender, will he face fellow team
member Christopher Daniels? Or Chris Harris?

Teddy Hart went on a temper tantrum after the match, insulting the ref
and the fans, and had to be put away by a Samoa Joe Island Driver.

IWA Heavyweight Title Match
Christopher Daniels pinned Chris Harris with the Last Rites in 0:12:29.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Christopher Daniels retained the IWA Heavyweight Title.)

Both men were 100 per cent focused on this match. The fact that he might
face long time ally Low Ki for the title didn't seem to affect Daniels,
and Harris found it hard to connect with any of his moves, the champion
so determined and creative in coming up with counters. When going for
a tilt-a-whirl, Daniels caught Harris' head with his legs and sent him
out of the ring with a spinning headscissors. A follow-up tope earned
a standing ovation from the crowd. Harris had to come up with something,
and he did when he speared Daniels almost to oblivion. It seemed to be
only a small setback for Daniels, who a short while later connected
with a top-rope inverted DDT. Further pain was inflicted through an
abdominal stretch. Even with a substantial upper hand, Harris was hard
to put down, surviving both a Flatliner and an STO. Daniels pulled out
his heavy artillery then, nailing Harris with the Last Rites to retain.

Daniels extended his hand to Harris after the match, but an obviously
disappointed Harris just walked away. Low-Ki made his way out to the
ring at the end of the show, congratulating Daniels.

Low Ki: 'Daniels, we know each other in and out. We both know what we
want, and that is the strap around your waist. I don't know when our
match will be, but next month, BCP is going down. And I need you and I
to focus on that match, not the belt. Can you do that?'

Daniels: 'The One focuses on one match at a time. The One also knows that
you have betrayed him in the past. So the One will look over his shoulder,
and sleep with one eye open.'

Daniels then flashed the Triple X sign before leaving without Low Ki.

Trouble in paradise?

I'll comment more later but one thing I had to say right now..

OMG - too funny with the cold shower bit.

IWA:NE - News Report February 1st - 2006

Christopher Daniels was successful in his first title defense, against Wildcat Chris Harris last month in Rhode Island. Emerging from that show as the new top contender is Daniels' ally and stablemate, the confrontational Low Ki. There is no denying that these two men has vastly different approaches for problem solving, and even though Triple X has survived so far, will a meeting between these two break the bond between these two, perhaps forever? Ki and Daniels need to put that behind them at the First Anniversary show, held in 3 days in Reading, Pennsylvania, unofficial home of IWA:NE due to the numbers of shows held there. Triple X is up against the Border City Patrol in a huge six-man tag match, with the winner surely being recognized as the major stable in IWA.

The Generation Next has evaded all title pursuers since winning the Tag Title tournament back in August. Now, their most difficult match is at hand, a triangle match against the SAT and the Briscoes. Roderick Strong is banned from ringside, and an appearance will force President DeMei to strip them of their titles.

AJ Styles was brutally attacked by Homicide after being pinned by Roderick Strong in last month's triangle match. Styles isn't one to let bygones be bygones, and Homicide and Styles will certainly bring the roof down in Reading come Saturday.

Also scheduled at this 1-year anniversary show are: Roderick Strong, Mikey Batts, Chris Harris, Buck Quartermain, D-Ray 3000, Jerelle Clark, B-Boy, Sabian, Pat Kenney and the debuting L.A.Park! TNA has also graciously allowed us guest appearances by Shark Boy and Michael Shane.

So be sure to order your tickets online or take the chance at the door.

On an administrative level, IWA:NE management has announced that the Carnage Crew, Goldust, DJ Hyde and A-Train has not renewed their contracts. It is believed that this was the decision of IWA:NE, as neither had brought extra attendance, good matches or heat.
LA Park will be one of the replacements, and Air Paris and Adam Jacobs will possibly be making future appearances as well.

Who's hot
Daniels and Low Ki are the hottest wrestlers in IWA now according to a poll on the IWA website. Daniels rise to the top and his heated arguments with Low Ki has caused a major interest to be taken to Triple X.

AJ Styles is not far behind. Styles is someone you love to hate when he is heelish, and adore when he is not. His spectacular wrestling is a winner with the boys, and his boyish sharms with the girls.

Mikey Batts was # 4 on this poll. It seems as his split from Jerelle Clark into singles wrestling has done Billy Kidman's cousin good. Teaming up with Steve Corino didn't make things worse exactly.

On the opposite side, Roderick Strong won with great margins when voting for the most unpopular wrestler. The fans see him as a lackey for Cross and Evans, and for the sake of popularity, pinning AJ was probably not such a good idea. Still, Strong can tangle with the best in IWA:NE, and this poll will surely only put even more fire in Strong's determination.

Hmm - i'm intrigued by the tension in the ranks of XXX. Amazing what happens when someone develops symptoms of 'the green eyed monster'.

Steen made a critical mistake not covering Walters when he had the chance. I'm sure D'Amore will have some words for Mr Wrestling about this.

OOO - Teddy Hart & Petey Williams - battle of the Canadians. I say they take it to the Dungeon and settle it like they do up north.

Carnage Crew had alot of motivation in their win over D Ray and Quatermain but then again, i feel like the competition was slim pickins anyways.

Homicide is a wrecking machine and I think his battle with AJ Styles will be impressive.

Interested to see what becomes of KENTA now that Gen Next has scouted him. Maybe when he finds out the translation of what Evans said, he'll regret shaking hands.

Gen Next got lucky with Strong interfering because we couldve seen new tag champs in the Briscoes. Better luck next time, guys. And with Hard Knox's Heavy Hitters tag champs, The SAT coming aboard next month, Gen Next has some serious competition ahead of them.

Great match between Messiah & Corino. Hoping to see those 2 in action against each other next month or the month after that.

BCP vs XXX - WOOO YEA!!!

Low-Ki is the new #1 CONTENDER...i definitely feel the thick tension in XXX now - where's my knife?
Shaun SindelmanPosted on 04/06/05 at 22:32:25

So HC Loc & Devito won the match and still chose not to stay with IWA:NE - how nice of them. =)

I think Roderick Strong needs to revolt against Cross & Evans.
rey619Posted on 04/06/05 at 23:21:47

The truth is that I didn't feel like signing the Crew again.. they have not put on great matches, and the 1 star match last month was the final straw.
Shaun SindelmanPosted on 04/07/05 at 02:08:35

I hear ya ...

i'm always thinking bout housekeeping with the roster over at Hard Knox.
