IWF Taping #5 on 2/1/06

Interview:
Commish Greenberg Makes a few announcements.

----The commissioner suspended Test for the evening because of his actions last weekAlso, outside interference was banned from the Ken Shamrock match against Steve
Corino.  Anyone caught interfering would be fired on the spot.----

[Winner's Enter World Title Tournament]:
Raven and Vampiro defeated William Regal and Juventud Guerrera when Vampiro
pinned W. Regal after a powerslam in 0:07:03.
Rating: ** 1/2

----Raven and Vampiro became the first two IWF wrestlers to earn a berth in the
8 man elimination tournament to name the first IWF World Champion at the end of
the month.  The two teams, who had become very familiar with each other over thelast few weeks, kept the fans on their feet in this relatively short but
exciting contest.  No doubt Regal and Guerrera will have other chances within
the next few weeks to earn their respective spots in the tournament.----

**STEVIE TV**

----This week we joined Stevie outside the arena, as he was talking about some of
his favorite matches in ECW, a car came out of nowhere and tried to run him no
over.  Just before the car hit, THE MASKED MAN ran out and made the save, but
was hit himself.  As people went over to check on him, the man got one last
burst of strength and fled the scene. Who was driving the car? Who is the maskedman??----

[Winner Enters World Title Tournament]:
Ken Shamrock made Steve Corino submit to the Ankle Lock Submission in 0:24:09.
Rating: *** 3/4

----Steve Corino and Ken Shamrock put on a 25 minute wrestling clinic for the fans
in attendance this evening.  Shamrock pulled off the win, and earned himself
a berth in the World Title tournament.  After the match, Hassan and Daivari
ran down to attack Shamrock.  After Shamrock threw a punch to defend himself,
the police once again showed up and arrested him.  Commish Greenberg tried to
plead with the officers to let him go, but they wouldn't.  As he was being
dragged out of the Arena, Test was waiting for him by the police car outside
the arena and laid him out,  The officers then proceeded to beat down Shamrock
as well (they were not real officers, they had been paid off), as Daivari and Hassan came out to join them.  After a bloody Shamrock
was left on the ground, the attackers fled when The Patriot and Shane Helms got
to the scene.----

Triangle Match:
Jeff Hardy drew Johnny Nitro and Blitzkrieg:
x time limit expired (J. Hardy and J. Nitro) in 0:20:00
Rating: *** 1/2

----Jeff Hardy, Blitzkrieg & Johnny Nitro battled to a draw, in this 20 minute time limit
encounter.  Blitz got hurt early on, and went to the locker room, leaving only Jeff & Nitro.  After the bell rang, the two continued slugging away at each other,
and Matt Hardy & Joey Matthews joined the fray.  A match was immediately signed
for the two later on.----

Interview:
Billy & Chuck challenge Juvy & Credible.

----Billy & Chuck challenged Juvy & Justin Credible to a match.  The tag champs cameout, sans Nicole Bass, and said that if Billy or Chuck could defeat either of
them in a singles match, they would get the Title shot next week.----

Justin Credible and Chuck Palumbo battled to a draw in 0:20:00.
Rating: ** 1/2

----1/2 the battle is over, and Billy & CHuck have failed thus far.  Justin Credibleand Chuck Palumbo battled to a 20 minute draw, leaving Billy Gunn having to
pick up a win over Psicosis in order for the duo to get a shot next week.----

Joey Matthews pinned Matt Hardy after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:08:30.
Rating: **[/b[

----Joey Matthews picked up a nice win over Matt Hardy after hitting a Northern
Lights suplex.  These two, who had gotten into it earlier, put on a nice show
for the audience.----

----In the Backstage area, Justin Credible was alone in his locker room, when he
was ambushed by Billy & Chuck.  Palumbo took Credible's bag with him after the
beat down.  Who knows why??----

Shane Helms pinned Shawn Daivari with the Eye Of The Hurricane in 0:10:49.
Rating: *** 1/4

----After The Patriot took out Muhammed Hassan who had been interfering at any
given point in the match, it was relatively easy pickens for Shane Helms.  Helmsbusted out the Eye of the Hurricane to score the win.  After the pinfall,
Hassan and Daivari immediately headed to the locker room to think of a game
plan for the Main Event.----

----In the Backstage area, Chuck Palumbo reached in to Justin Credible's bag and
pulled out his Psicosis attire and began to put it on, as we went back to
Credible's locker, where you could hear banging on the door.  Psicosis was
outside, and the door was locked.----

Billy Gunn pinned Psicosis with the Fame-Ass-Er in 0:15:45.
Rating: *** 1/4

----After a solid 14 minutes of wrestling, things got crazy.  After a referee bump,
a 2nd Psicosis came out from the locker room area.  When the Imitation Psicosis
hit the ring, he and Billy Gunn began beating on the real Psicosis.  After
connecting with 3! chair shots on Psicos, Billy and the Imitation Psicosis threwhim under the ring.  When the ref finally came to his wits, Billy Gunn hit a
weak looking fame-asser on the Imitation Psicosis, and pinned him for the win,
thus earning a Tag Title shot next week.  When they got back to the locker room, much to no one's surprise, the imitation Psicosis turned out to be Chuck Palumbo.  If the ref had his wits about him, he may have noticed the incredbile size
difference, but still being dazed from the blow, he had no idea what had
happened.  You can look forward to Psicosis & Justin defending the Tag Titles
against Billy & Chuck next week----

The Patriot pinned Muhammad Hassan with the Uncle Slam in 0:10:15.
Rating: ** 1/4

----The Patriot and Shane Helms outsmarted Hassan and Daivari, and were able to
thus win this singles match.  Test had made a phone call to the arena, saying
he was one of Helms' relatives and had some bad news.  This distracted Helms
just enough to miss the beginning of the Patriot/Hassan match.  After a ref bumpDaivari held The Patriot, and Hassan went for a sledgehammer shot, which The
Patriot ducked.  One Uncle Slam later, and Helms came running from the back, andmanually lifted and counted the referees arms.----

Card rating: ** 3/4

b]NEXT WEEK:/b]

Hassan, will all have their names thrown in a hat.  Two teams of three will be made.  The winning team will earn spots in the World Title tournament.

will all battle in a four corners ladder match for a berth in the World Title
tournament!

The masked man intrigues me somewhat, with a little more information we could start guessing who he is. Approximately weight, heigh and body type would be nice to get the guesses going.

The Psicosis thing was cool, albeit a little strange due to the size differences. The angle would have worked perfectly with a smaller wrestler.

The lack of any obvious main eventers (with the possible exception of Raven and Corino) makes it fun to see who will be thrown into the main event picture, allowing for lesser names and midcard wrestlers to shine in their own rights. I am rooting for Raven to win the gold, even though he is not involved in any of the big feuds so far.

Keep up the good work
JustinPosted on 03/31/05 at 15:14:58

Who is the masked man? Could it be The Meanie or Nova coming to help an old friend?

The size difference between Chuck & Credible & Psicosis is so odd... I agree with rey it would have worked better with a smaller guy.

I notice you didn't have Nicole Bass with JC & crew tonight... taking my suggestion to help make Jazz look better?

Are all 6 names going to be in the same hat or will the factions be aligned on their teams? Either way it sounds interesting.
jekyll316Posted on 03/31/05 at 17:27:29

Yeh, I knew the size difference was going to be killer, but I figured if the ref was bumped he would be so out of it, he wouldn't know what to do.

Don't you worry about Raven, I got something planned for him.

As for the Six man match, I am going to literally throw the names of all six in a hat (or maybe a plastic bag), so the teams could possibly be Patriot, Daivari and Hassan.

And yes, Nicole Bass is going to be gone, there will be a quick explanation for this in a couple of weeks.

As for the masked man, I need to figure out some ways to give hints.  At first, it really was just gonna me some Random wrestler with the "M" button, but the more I run the angle, the more I have in mind a specific Person.

we'll see what happens.  Thanks for all the replies.  I am going to try and catch up with the other feds a little later today, so I can post some feedback as well.

Such mystery and intrigue in the IWF.  Intriguing masked men, mysterious car drivers. :)  Can't wait to see who they really are

Quite a war a-brewin' in the Shamrock situation too
