Cincinnati Pro presents Championship Road
Friday, August 12, 2005
Bell Time: 8:00 p.m.
Place: Harrison Health and Fitness Center in West Harrison, Indiana

(The wrestling ring is set up on the indoor basketball court, the exercise equipment has been blocked off with yellow tape, and the fans are beginning to pack the Harrison Health and Fitness Center! Tonight, the tournament to crown the very first Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Champion begins! 16 men have been selected to compete and at the end of the night, only four will remain. Let's get right into the action. At 8:00, "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters comes on over the speakers and the crowd gets on their feet awaiting the arrival of Chris Hero! Hero walks out to a great ovation. His opponent for tonight has not been announced... he is a mystery man... but who is it? The fans wait in anticipation as Hero paces back and forth in the ring. Walking through the curtain comes none other than... BULL PAIN? The fans boo severely! What a disappointment for everyone in attendance. Bull Pain is eating it up, though. He threatens every single person he passes before stepping in the ring for the first match.)

Rating: ***

Bull Pain was simply outwrestled here. Pain barely got any offense in and the only pin attempt he could make was by reversing a bodyslam into a small package. This match was simply a one-sided affair. Hero had his hand raised in victory and did not even look very winded. The fans were appreciative of Hero, but still gave Bull Pain the loudest booing this company has heard thus far in it's existence. With this poor showing, it does not look like we will be seeing Bull Pain in Cincinnati Pro anytime again.

The winner is John Kronus. Time of match: 0:08:01

John Kronus pinned Matt Stryker with the 450 Splash in 0:08:01.
Rating: *** 1/2

This match was BRUTAL! Stryker started off very strong in the ring using a wide variety of offense to ware down Kronus. However, when the match spilled to the floor, Kronus went back to his old ECW ways... he went hardcore! He used the ringsteps, guardrail, a fire extinguisher, ring bell, and a baseball bat! Stryker managed to reverse a whip into the ring steps and Kronus went face first splitting himself wide open! Kronus fought hard to win the match, but he may be too battered and beaten to be successful in a second match later in the evening.

(Chris Leben comes out looking focused and ready for action. The fans give him a warm welcome. As he makes his way to the ring, his attention is turned towards the far wall towards the back of the building. Standing there... KEN SHAMROCK! No one even knew he was here! The crowd starts clapping and cheering for Shamrock! There is a long staredown between Leben and Shamrock. Shamrock then walks towards the ring... Shamrock has a look in his eyes like something bad is about to happen. But Leben doesn't walk away from Shamrock, he walks towards him! As Shamrock gets to ringside, Leben greets him... the two are nose-to-nose right here!! After only a few moments, security steps in between the two. CEO Russ Myers comes out from the back and forces security to escort Shamrock out of the building. The fans boo the decision and chant "let him go! let him go!" but no such luck as Shamrock exits the building. What is going on? Now... Leben's opponent... another mystery wrestler... it's... it's... PABLO MARQUEZ? What is going on tonight?! First Bull Pain... and now Pablo Marquez? He's only known to most wrestling fans from his ECW days... where he was known simply as El Puertorricana... and NEVER won! He's met with little to no reaction at all, but Marquez looks pumped to be here tonight.)

Rating: ** 1/2

A major upset in most eyes! Although Leben is new to the wrestling business... he's been very successful in Cincinnati Pro... and it was almost a guarentee that he could put away a guy like Pablo Marquez. But Marquez came into this tournament with a plan. He wanted to impress the audience and make a new name for himself. He was tired of being labeled ECW's "job guy." However, honestly, Marquez could not have beaten Leben on his own. Towards the end of the match, Ken Shamrock came back into the building and ran towards the ring! Leben saw him coming and waited for him to slide in the ring... Leben was ready for a fight! The fans were on their feet! They want to see these two go at it in the worst way! Just as Shamrock is about to slide into the ring, security cuts him off and is trying their hardest to push him back! Leben is telling security to let him go! The fans are chanting "let him go! let him go!" again! This was Marquez's opening and he took advantage of Leben immediatly following the confrontation and was able to pick up the win! Shamrock was forced out of the building again... and Leben looked pretty upset about the loss. Marquez slid out of the ring and was cheering for himself... because hardly anyone else was! Somehow, Marquez moves on to the semi-finals of the tournament... but his opponent will be the fresh Chris Hero...

Rating: ** 3/4

Both of these wrestlers were making the rounds here in the United States and coincidentally they were in the area the weekend of this show. So Cincinnati Pro couldn't think of a better way to not only help give the two of them a name in the U.S., but also have a one-time only dream match between them! So they were put into the tournament. Dr. Wagner Jr. is HUGE in Mexico and also has a large following in Japan while Volk Han is looked up to in his home country of Russia and he is very well respected in Japan for his participation in the shoot based organization, UWFi. In this match tonight, Dr. Wagner Jr. was really on top of his game and Volk Han just couldn't find a groove. Wagner Jr. looked like he may have been on his way to victory, but he was toying with Volk Han by not pinning him and releasing submission holds... BIG MISTAKE. Volk Han finally saw his opening and locked on one of his favorite submissions, the achilles tendon hold! Wagner had to submit! Volk Han advances in the tournamnt to face John Kronus and both men were applauded for their efforts and Cincinnati Pro is very appreciative to have them work the show.

Hayabusa pinned Christopher Nowinski with the Firebird Splash in 0:10:09.
Rating: ** 1/2

Nowinski came out strong and took the fight to Hayabusa. Nowinski was surprisingly in control for almost the entire match. While his wrestling technique is no where close to being what Hayabusa's is, Nowinksi looked to be brawling his way to victory. However, things turned around a bit when Nowinski was clothesline over the top rope to the outside. On the floor, Hayabusa gave quite the beating to Nowinski using the ringsteps, the ringbell, and a keyboard. The finish came out of nowhere with Hayabusa nailing the Firebird Splash for the victory. To Nowinski's credit, no one thought he would be able to compete with Hayabusa the way he did.

El Dandy pinned Marty Jannetty with the Dandina Cradle in 0:13:36.
Rating: ***

These two started the match off very fast, but also with high impact moves! As the match went on and both wrestlers exchanged hold for hold, the pace started to slow down as both were showing some fatigue. In the closing moments of the match, both wrestlers were so winded they had to resort to brawling and though both looked to be worse for ware, it was El Dandy putting Jannetty in a pinning predicament that he could not escape. El Dandy moves on to the semifinals to face Hayabusa!

Alexander Otsuka made Mark Henry submit to an armlock hammerlock submission in 0:10:59.
Rating: *** 1/2

As expected, this match was power against submission. One thing that was not expected was Otsuka working the ARM of Mark Henry. Mark Henry has legitamatly been The Strongest Man in the World... so in that respect, one would agree that forcing Mark Henry to submit to an arm submission would be next to impossible. It was this fact that drove Otsuka to win the hard way. Otsuka was making a point tonight. Not only would he defeat a man three times his size, but he would beat him in such a fashion that no one else could! Otsuka took some shots in the match, but he kept returning to the left arm of Mark Henry. When Mark Henry tapped out, the crowd gasped in disbelief. Henry's arm will be fine after a few days, but the point remains the same. Otsuka is on a mission... but the expended energy of taking the long road to defeat Mark Henry may dwindle his chances of winning his match later on in the evening against the winner of the next match...

("Our Lady of Sorrow" by My Chemical Romance blares over the speaker as Josh Abercrombie comes to the ring for the final match of the Quarterfinal Round. He has a serious look on his face and seems to be focused on tonight's match. His opponent will be his biggest rival to this date in IWA Mid South wrestler and promoter, Ian Rotten. As Abercrombie removes his ring jacket, Ian Rotten's music comes on. There is a mixed reaction from the fans as Ian Rotten steps through the curtain. Ian Rotten has been through hell and back in the wrestling industry and it really shows by the way he presents himself. Abercrombie knows he is in for the fight of a lifetime.)

The winner is Ian Rotten. Time of match: 0:10:58

Ian Rotten pinned Josh Abercrombie with the Double Arm DDT in 0:10:58.
Rating: ** 1/2

The opening moments of the match saw Abercrombie using his speed advantage to one up Ian Rotten, but Rotten was able to slow the pace down and began methodically waring down Abercrombie. As the match raged on, both wrestlers spilled to the floor where Abercrombie was able to mount a small comeback and bust Rotten open in the process. However, the tides turned once again and the end was near. After going to the floor a second time, this time with Rotten in control, Abercrombie was hurting. He could no longer fight back and Rotten put him away with the Double Arm DDT. By this point, the fans were booing Rotten. To most of them, he is the enemy... he runs a company that is not Cincinnati Pro. Ian Rotten knows that advancing in this tournament, and possibly winning it, will not only make his name even bigger in the industry, but would hurt the image of Cincinnati Pro. The bloody Ian Rotten will take on Alexander Otsuka in the semifinals.

(As ring announcer Seth Martini is about to announce the beginning of the second round he is interrupted by none other than Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton, collectively known as Vicious & Delicious. They climb in the ring and the fans are giving them hell. Norton approaches ring announcer Seth Martini who is cowering in the corner. Norton threatens him until he hands him the microphone and then jumps out of the ring. Norton then hands the microphone to Buff Bagwell. Bagwell has a huge smile on his face... but suddenly turns serious.)

Buff Bagwell: All the hype lately has been about Cincinnati Pro... and what are they talking about? The Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Title! All the talk on the internet is about who is going to be crowned the very first Cincinnati Pro champion! All of the big names are in the tournament... you've got Hayabusa... Chris Hero... haha... they've even brought in big international talent like Dr. Wagner Jr. and Volk Han! Hell, Cincinnati Pro has even gone so far as to bring in Ian Rotten!! However, two very important names are not on the list.... two guys were not scheduled for the tournament... two men DESERVING to BE the first Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Champion! Those two names being... "Flash" Scott Norton! And Buff Bagwell! Tell 'em Scott...

Scott Norton: For three months we have been wrestling here! From day one we have carried this company on our backs! Marty Jannetty missed his very first scheduled appearance in Cincinnati Pro... but he was in the tournament! Christopher Nowinski has NEVER WON A MATCH here... but he was in the tournament! Josh Abercrombie just signed with Cincinnati Pro last month... and lost his first match... but he was in the tournament! Guys like Dr. Wagner Jr. and Volk Han... Pablo Marquez and Bull Pain... even Ian Rotten... they are not EVEN UNDER CONTRACT and they are STILL IN THE TOURNAMENT!!

Buff Bagwell: All this commotion about the best singles wrestler on the independant scene right now... but no one is talking about the best TAG TEAM right now. Where is our recognition? When is it our turn to be all the internet hype? You moronic smart marks have overlooked the very best tag team to grace this scene for some cheap thrill, high flyer looking for his fifteen minutes of fame! Let it be known right now that me or Scott Norton would BURY every single person in that damn tournament tonight!! We demand OUR RECOGNITION! Forget about the tournament, forget about the Tri-State Heavyweight Title... focus on the guys that really matter! Focus on the guys who have put Cincinnati Pro on the map! Focus on Vicious... and Delicious!

("How Do You Like Me Now" is heard on the speakers and the crowd goes into a frenzy. Hardcore Holly and Al Snow come charging through the curtain towards the ring. Holly and Snow slide into the ring. Snow runs at Norton, ducks a clothesline and comes back with a flying leg lariat sending Norton through the ropes to the floor. Hardcore Holly blocks a punch from Buff, fires back with a few punches of his own staggering Buff... he then lifts Buff up and drives him hard to the mat with the Alabamaslam knocking him unconscious! Holly picks up the microphone and gets down to one knee over Bagwell...)

Hardcore Holly: Buff Bagwell... you are a damn fool! Do NOT think that I forgot what you did to me three months ago! My shoulder still aggravates me to this day. You call yourself and Norton the best tag team... you're not looking so good right now. Me and Al Snow are here for the long run and as long as all four of us are here, Vicious and Delicious are going to have to earn their recognition.)

(Hardcore Holly stands up and throws the microphone down. Him and Snow climb the ropes as the crowd gives them a huge ovation. They leave the ring and Norton helps Bagwell to his feet and eventually helps him to the locker rooms. Ring announcer Seth Martini can finally officially begin the semi-final round of the tournament.)

Rating: ** 3/4

Both wrestlers came into this match looking pretty well beat up. Kronus had his head bandaged where he was split open by Matt Stryker earlier in the night and Volk Han just looked tired. He suffered some serious punishment from Dr. Wagner Jr. in his opening round match, but Volk came here to fight. The match went back and forth... it could have gone either way. Kronus could not put Volk away and his temper got the best of him as he threw the referee out of the ring. This gave Volk an opportunity to put away Kronus. He locked Kronus in his finishing submission hold, the Cross Knee Scissors, and Kronus could not escape. He was fighting hard to get to the ropes... the referee called for the bell when he regained his senses. Many of the fans thought Kronus may have verbally submitted, but that was not the case as the ring announcer said that Kronus had been disqualified! This did not sit well with the fans or Kronus. Kronus tried to get at the referee, but could barely walk. He was shouting "I never gave up!" Volk Han advances in the tournament and next month he will recieve a shot at the Tri-State Heavyweight Championship!

Rating: **

Chris Hero still looked fresh as he came to the ring with a smile on his face. Pablo Marquez looked a little tired, but he looked ready to go. Hero had control for most of this match. Throughout the match, there were a few small chants for Marquez. When Marquez came out earlier in the night, he was met with little to no reaction and the fans were not very appreciative of his presence. Now, seeing that Marquez is truely putting forth his best effort in this tournament, the fans have earned some sort of respect for him. Hero was able to beat the poor guy pretty badly and eventually win the match, but Marquez left with his head high and with the respect of the fans. Chris Hero now joins Volk Han in the Four Corners Match next month for the Championship.

Rating: *** 1/2
[Marty Jannetty interfered against El Dandy.]

Both wrestlers appeared to be in good shape and ready to go in this match. A very fast match with lots of quick exchanges, reversals, pinning combinations, and high impact moves. Marty Jannetty came to ringside and it was obvious that he was still a little upset about his loss against El Dandy earlier in the evening. He pulled the ropes down and El Dandy fell out of the ring. Hayabusa was not exactly sure what to do, but he was tired and did not have the energy left in him to confront Jannetty. When Dandy staggered to his feet, Jannetty nailed him with the Rocker Dropper. Hayabusa had the referee's attention so the referee did not see it happen. When the ref turned around, he continued his count and El Dandy was counted out. Hayabusa cannot say that he was happy with the way the match ended, but he will be fighting for the Tri-State Heavyweight Championship next month. As for El Dandy and Marty Jannetty, who knows what is going to happen between these two.

Rating: *** 1/4

The predictions about Otsuka made earlier about him using all of his energy to defeat Mark Henry may have been true. While Ian Rotten looked in bad shape, not just his body, but his face was still matted with dry blood, Otsuka looked tired. He could barely get any offense in during this match and it was feared that Rotten may have beaten him have to death if the match continued. Had this been an opening round match, Otsuka would have probably been able to beat Rotten with submissions, but with a guy Rotten's size pounding on you with a fire extinguisher and a baseball bat, you can't really do much. Otsuka had one effort in scoring a pin... it was a dragon suplex and he came so close to winning with it. Knowing this was probably the only opportunity he would get, he threw the referee into the ringpost. Shortly after, Rotten put him away with the Double Arm DDT and the IWA-MS wrestler and promoter finds himself wrestling for the Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Championship next month.

Overall: ***

Match of the Night: John Kronus vs. Matt Stryker/Alexander Otsuka vs. Mark Henry/Hayabusa vs. El Dandy
CarlzillaPosted on 03/21/05 at 12:08:11

Hero over pain...no questions there...seems like that would be the only possible outcome.

Kronus couldn't get a legit win, so he used the bat...weak
I'm not super familar with Stryker, so it's no big loss though.

Who the hell is Pablo Marquez? I was pulling for Leben, being an MMA fan, and unfamilar with his opponent. Can't win them all though.

I wish I could have seen that Volk Han/Dr. Wagner deal. That would have been a sweet clash of styles. It's cool that as an Indy fed you still manage to bring in some awesome workers without resorting to WWE main eventers...it keeps the feel more realistic.

Hayabusa over Nowinski was another no brainer...Hayabusa = the shizz, pardon my ghetto slang.

El Dandy beat the former Rocker...can't complain there...I used to be a huge Rocker fan, but now Jannettey just kind of bores me.

Mark Henry = fodder for Otsuka. There was never a doubt that Henry was going to loose. Although upsets do happen. I'm pulling for Otsuka or Hayabusa to win the whole thing.

Ian Rotten is cool, I finally checked out Josh Abercrombie, he's alright, I think Rotten works better in deathmatches, and Abercrombie, well I haven't seen enough of his stuff to be familar enough to root for him.

Glad to see Kronus go...

And Marquez...

Hayabusa vs. Otsuka (crosses fingers)...and no!
Although Ian Rotten vs. Hayabusa could be a fun match.

Thanks for the read it was fun...I should probably get back to work...haha.

Cincinnati Pro Official Hotline
Updated August 26, 2005

Coming off the last show, Championship Road, Cincinnati Pro is hotter than ever!! We have narrowed it down to FOUR wrestlers who will battle in out in just two weeks to crown the very first Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Champion! The four are: Chris Hero, Volk Han, Hayabusa, and IWA-MS's own Ian Rotten! We will have a rundown on all four wrestlers in the next update. For now, let's get into other news.

Two weeks from today, Friday night, September 9, Cincinnati Pro returns to the Hamilton High School Gymnasium in Hamilton, Ohio, the site of our very first show. This will be the BIGGEST show we have ever put on and we urge everyone to be in attendance. So far, here are the matches we have for you...

Whatever problems El Dandy and Marty Jannetty have with each other are hopefully going to be laid to rest in two weeks. Both men were told to seek tag team partners for a tag team match. Jannetty was apparently impressed with Pablo Marquez at the last show. He was quoted saying "He remind me of myself when I was his age." Take that for what it's worth, but Marquez has agreed to team with Jannetty. El Dandy's choice... for a reason no one will ever quite undestand... chose Bull Pain to be his partner. With Pain's lackluster performance at Championship Road, many felt they would never see him here again... but El Dandy is bringing him in as his partner.

A wild six man tag team match has been thrown together. On one side, Alexander Otsuka, still looking to comeback from his disappointing loss at Championship Road, teams with the monster duo of Mike Awesome and Sean O'Haire. Their opponents, Cincinnati Pro's hometown heroes, Matt Stryker and Shark Boy will team with The Patriot. You can look at this match in many different ways, but the final conclusion is that this one is going to be exciting!

Finally, Ian Rotten returns to Cincinnati Pro in an attempt to win the Cincinnati Pro Heavyweight Tri-State Championship. However, he has told CEO Russ Myers that he is not coming alone. Apparently, Rotten is bringing three men with him. Josh Abercrombie is well respected by Ian Rotten and Rotten has expressed interest in having Abercrombie face two IWA-MS wrestlers in a traingle match. Abercrombie has agreed, but Rotten has not said who the opponents will be. Also, Rotten has called out Chris Leben. Leben is one of the hottest young prospects in Cincinnati Pro and Rotten has taken notice. Rotten has requested Chris Leben to face IWA-MS's JC Bailey. Chris Leben is always willing to wrestle or fight anyone and in two weeks we'll see JC Bailey against Chris Leben.

Be sure to check back with the Hotline in one week for a complete match listing for the show in two weeks, September 9th at the Hamilton High School Gymnasium in Hamilton, Ohio!

Cincinnati Pro Official Hotline
Updated September 2nd, 2005

In just one week, Cincinnati Pro presents Rise of the Champion live from the Hamilton High School Gymnasium in Hamilton, Ohio! The show is going to be HUGE! Now let's have a rundown of the matches!

Aside from the five matches announced last week, here are the remaining matches. First, we have a big match for you. Hardcore Holly will finally have a match to get some revenge against Vicious and Delicious. Holly and Al Snow have requested a No-Disqualification, Elimination Tag Team Match. While Buff Bagwell appeared a little resiliant to the idea, Scott Norton accepted the match for his team. Hardcore Holly and Al Snow against Vicious & Delicious in a No-DQ, Elimination Tag Team Match!

Christopher Nowinski has apparently been doing his "homework" on the wrestlers in Cincinnati Pro in search of a tag team partner. After carefully reviewing all of his notes, the only man to pass the test was none other than Mark Henry. Nowinski has requested a tag team match with Henry at his side. Strike Force seemed more than happy to draw the task of taking on the new tag team. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Two of the most successful wrestlers in Cincinnati Pro thus far, John Kronus and Jinsei Shinzaki, will square off at Rise of the Champion! Kronus is looking to prove himself once again after being DQ'd in last months tournament. Kronus was quoted saying "Shinzaki is one of the top athletes in the world. A clean win over him will rank me right up there. I like the guy, but I'm going to have to hurt him... real bad... hehe."

Jamie Noble was frustrated about not being entered in the tournament last month. He has told CEO Russ Myers that he is demanding a match for next week. While no one else is available from the active roster, Myers has assured Noble that he will have a match at Rise of the Champion.

Let's not forget that matches announced on the Hotline last week. Ian Rotten is bringing three guys in from IWA-Mid South... one of them is JC Bailey who is scheduled to take on Chris Leben. The other two guys, we're not sure, but they will take on ex-IWA-Mid Southerner, Josh Abercrombie in a triangle match. Marty Jannetty teams with newcomer Pablo Marquez to face El Dandy and Bull Pain. Matt Stryker, Shark Boy, and The Patriot to face Alexander Otsuka, Mike Awesome, and Sean O'Haire in six-man tag team action. And finally, the big one... FOUR CORNERS MATCH to crown the first Cincinnati Pro Tri-State Heavyweight Champion! Here is a brief rundown on all four combatants...

Ian Rotten
Height: 6'0"  Weight: 281 lbs.
Style: Brawler
Finisher of Choice: Double Arm DDT
Ian Rotten comes into this match with the weight advantage. He represents IWA-Mid South and is looking to take Cincinnati Pro gold home with him. Brawling does not usually get you too far in the sport today, but with a man his size doing it so well, as you can tell, it can take you places. Rotten is a tough son of a bitch and you can bet he's going to be very hard to beat.

Volk Han
Height: 6'3"  Weight: 236 lbs.
Styles: Technician, Shooter
Finisher of Choice: Cross Knee Scissors (submission)
Volk Han comes to us from Russian. While being successful in the RINGS promotion in Japan, a lot has not been heard from him as of late. Now he jumps to Cincinnati Pro and after one month is already making huge waves! The advantage he has is his masterful submission holds. No one in the match, maybe even all of CP, can hold a candle to the submission ability Han has. All competitors should be on the lookout because Han can lock on a submission from anywhere on anyone at any point in the match.

Chris Hero
Height: 6'4"  Weight: 240 lbs.
Styles: Technician, Brawler, Wrestler
Finisher of Choice: Hero's Welcome
The most well rounded of wrestlers in this match, Chris Hero is the hardest man to study for. He always seems to come up with a new move or hold every time he is in that ring. His Hero's Welcome is a deadly finisher and it is what helped him make it this far in CP. He's only second as a fan favorite to the final participant in this match...

Hayabusa
Height: 6'1"  Weight: 190 lbs.
Style: High-Flyer
Finisher of Choice: Firebird Splash
No one can claim a more spectacular comeback to professional wrestling than Hayabusa. It's a miracle that he has even stepped back into a ring after breaking his neck and paralyzing himself years back, but now to be a top contendor for a major championship! He may be the smallest one in the match, but he's the quickest! He seems to be the fans choice to win the whole thing.

Friday night, September 9th, 2005, live from the Hamilton High School Gymnasium in Hamilton, Ohio. Bell time is 8:00 p.m.!! Be there!!
