GWF Show 10:  Fright Night

Results of Fright Night Show 10:

Fright Night starts off with the Road Warriors music but instead of them it is Edge and Christian.  They are wearing the old WWF foam spiked shoulder pads and have their faces painted up like the Warriors.

Edge:  AWW WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Christian:  What?

Edge:  What a waste of time it is the greatest tag team ever Edge and Christian to have to defend the titles against us.

Christian:  What?

Edge:  Animal did you put your hearing aid in?  You know we aren't as young as we used to be.  I mean we were never that good to begin with and now we are going to have to be in the ring with legends.

Christian:  I am scared Hawk.  I think maybe we bit off more then we can chew.  I mean that Christian could beat us both by himself.

Edge:  And don't forget about Edge.  I would give up during the instructions instead of having to fight him.

Suddenly the Real Road Warriors come out but they are laughing.

Hawk:  Now that is funny boys.  I mean you do a pretty good impersonation.  But that doesn't win matches.

Animal:  What wins matches is talent.  We have beat every team worth talking about...

Edge:  Except us.

Animal:  Except you and that will change tonight.  Now have fun with your costume party because later tonight it won't be so funny.

Hawk and Animal went to the back while E&C got a concerned look on their face.

Our opening match was a grudge tag team match between four men that have been linked recently.  As they were about to lock up Eric Bischoff came out.

Bischoff:  Guys I wanted to add a little incentive to your match.  The man that gets the win in this match will be the number one contender to the GWF Heavyweight Title and will get his title shot next month at Guts and Glory.  Now lets see some hardcore action.

This stipulation added a new element to the match and caused for some interesting situations.  Early on the Sandman sidestepped a plancha attempted by Dandy and had a sure pinfall but his partner the Macho Man broke it up.  Late on El Dandy managed to get Savage in his Dandina Cradle but Villano broke it up.  A shot at the Heavyweight championship almost made this a four way.  The end really came out of nowhere.  The Sandman was on the floor caning the living hell out of Dandy while Savage hit his over the top hotshot.  As he came down he "accidentally" hit the Sandman.  He rolled in and got the win.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match
Randy Savage and The Sandman defeated El Dandy and Villano V when Randy Savage pinned Villano V after a hotshot in 0:13:17.

As Savage celebrated Muhammad Hassan and Daivari attacked him.  The Sandman was about to get in the ring when someone dressed in all black attacked him.  He quickly hit a reverse DDT and disappeared almost as quickly as he appeared.  Hassan locked in the Camel Clutch on Savage.  After a minute or so he released the hold and tossed him from the ring.

Hassan:  Bischoff I want your ass out here right now!!

Eric Bischoff comes out and looks pissed about something.

Bischoff:  I am very busy Mr. Hassan, just what do you want?

Hassan:  What do I want?  WHAT DO I WANT!!  You know what matched you have signed for me tonight.  It isn't fair!  I beat him twice now, there is no way I am going to get into a CAGE with him!

Bischoff:  Oh really?  No way huh?  Well let me make this real clear.  You will get into that cage with him.  You will defend your title or I will fire your ass.  I am sick and tired of people tell me, the BOSS, what they will do.  I have the championship committee telling me that I can't get rid of Foley and people attacking my wrestlers and now people telling me what they are going to do.....

Suddenly Mick's music starts.  In the ring Daivari is going nuts screaming Arabic into the mic.  Suddenly it quits.

Foley:  About time someone did that.

Mick walks out with a cord in his hand to a huge pop.

Foley:  You are right Eric, the committee won't let you fire me.  As a matter of fact, they have done something even better.  In three months, at our 1st anniversary show, I have got signed a one on one match between the two of us.

Hassan:  WHAT!  NO WAY!  I have seen you in the ring and there is no way I am going to wrestle you.

Foley:  Well that is good, because it isn't going to be a wrestling match, it is going to be a fight.  A New Years Brawl you will not be facing Mick Foley...YOU WILL BE FACING CACTUS JACK!

At that Mick removes his shirt and we see the old "Wanted dead or alive" shirt.

Bischoff:  Hold on.  I didn't authorize that.  I am the match maker here in the GWF.  I am afraid that it won't be happening.

Foley:  That is where you are wrong Eric.  It will be happening because right here is the contract.  While your lawyers were trying to get me fired I was preparing to sue the GWF for the attack by those two men in the ring.  My contract was not for an active wrestler and my lawyers felt that the attack was the fault of the GWF not having enough security.  So instead of suing I got them to give me this one match.  One time only Muhammad, it will be your one chance.  Don't waste it.  BANG BANG!

Lance Hoyt debuted for the GWF defeating Mikey Whipwreck.  Mikey has seems to be missing something.  One match he is awesome and seems to be better then ever and then the next match he doesn't look worth anything.  That was this case.  Hoyt didn't have a cake walk as Mikey actually hit his version of the Pedigree but Hoyt kicked out.  The end came when Hoyt went into his boot and pulled out a baton of some kind and nailed Mikey with it for the win.

Lance Hoyt pinned Mikey Whipwreck after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:05:52.

In one of the best matches EVER in the GWF E&C defeated the Road Warriors.  This was a classic tag team bout as Hawk was singled out most of the match.  E&C hit moves ranging from the Hart Attack to the Demolition Decapitator to try and keep Hawk down but he wouldn't quit.  A hot tag and the champs were on the defense.  Edge was set up for the Doomsday Device but Christian clipped Animal.  Hawk came off the top for a Flying Clothesline on Christian but he ducked.  He quickly hit his Unprettier for the huge win and a great match.

Edge and Christian defeated The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) when Christian pinned Hawk with the Unprettier in 0:24:46.

(Edge and Christian retained the GWF Tag Team Titles.)

E&C quickly grabbed their belts and went to the back.  The Road Warriors got a nice ovation in the ring and as they went to the back but the look on their face said that this wasn't over.  In our next match the new King of Hardcore showed that he truly was as he defeated Blitzkrieg in short fashion.  Blitz actually dominated the match and went for his Stardust Press but Nowinksi moved.  He then set up a chair and DDT'ed Blitz on it for the win.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Christopher Nowinksi pinned Blitzkrieg with the DDT in 0:02:17.

Our next match saw the fan favorite Bushwhackers taking on another team the fans love Taka and Funaki.  This was a comedic match with lots of funny spots like Taka biting Funaki thinking it was Luke after being poked in the eye and all four men doing the Bushwhacker walk.  Near the end the Bushwhackers had the ref distracted.  From the back out ran the Road Warriors.  Animal nailed Taka in the back of the head with a roll of quarters.  Luke kind of shrugged and made the cover for the win.

The Bushwhackers (Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch) defeated Taka and Funaki when Luke pinned Taka after outside interference in 0:07:08.

[Animal interfered against Taka Michinoku.]

After the match The Road Warriors once again attacked Taka and Funaki.  They had Taka set up for the Doomsday Device when from the crowd came Bubba Ray and D-Von, the Dudley Boys!  The Warriors see them coming and they are ready for a fight.  They two teams get into a huge brawl.  During the brawl Bubba sends Animal from the ring and they give Hawk 3D to a huge ovation.

Bubba:  So you held the tag team titles in every promotion that counted huh?  So you beat every team that counted huh?  Well I never saw your sorry asses in ECW.

D-Von:  We are eight time ECW champions.  We have been ECW, WCW and WWF tag team champions.

Bubba:  And you know what?  If we were ancient we would have been the AWA tag team champions too.  We can beat ANY team in the world EVER!  So boys we have a challenge for you.  In a few months the GWF is having their first anniversary show New Years Brawl and we are going to fight boys.

Hawk:  Fine with us.  I guess that night we will prove who the greatest tag team of all time really is.

The next match was a real let down after the intense interaction before it.  It saw Terry Funk defeat Viscera but it wasn't a good match.  Funk knocked the big man down with a clothesline for the win.

Terry Funk pinned Viscera after a clothesline in 0:05:00.

In a return match from last months show Pretty Wonderful picked up a huge win over the Powers of Pain.  It was actually a pretty quick match.  Bobby Heenan returned but didn't have any effect on the match.  This was a huge brawl for the most part.  The Powers of Pain collided and that was it.  Roma sprung to the top and hit a top rope sunset flip for the win.

Pretty Wonderful (Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma) defeated The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) when Roma pinned Warlord after a flying sunset flip in 0:02:55.

After the match The Barbarian and the Warlord actually got into a shoving match.  Heenan and the Brain Busters managed to break them up.  While this was going on the Buster's opponents, the Nasty Boys, ran out and attacked them from behind jump starting our next match.

This was a decent tag match.  During the match the PoP remained at ringside but argued most of the time and distracted The Brain quite often.  In the ring the Nasty's managed to isolate Double A for most of the match.  Tully was in at the beginning but that was it.  The end came when out of nowhere Arn faked a bunch and Sags went to duck it.  Arn quickly hit a DDT for the win.

The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson) defeated The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags) when Anderson pinned Sags after a DDT in 0:10:01.

The main event was amazing.  The only way to win the match was by escaping the cage and the door was chained shut.  Vader and Hassan beat the living hell out of each other.  Early on we saw Vader busted open when Hassan repeatedly rammed Vader into the cage.  Vader tried several times to escape but his size was actually a detriment in this match as he seemed to big to climb the cage.  Hassan seemed to want to make a point by hurting Vader.  Several times he locked in the Camel Clutch.  Hassan was just about over one time and Vader caught him.  He then kind of suplexed him into the ring but released him instead of falling with him.  Vader was just about out when he slipped and crotched himself on the cage.  Hassan took advantage and slowly climbed to the top.   The two then started punching it out on the top.  Vader hit a huge haymaker that actually knocked Hassan off the cage through the timekeepers table and actually gave him the win.

Cage Match:
Muhammad Hassan defeated Big Van Vader by escaping the cage in 0:19:31.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Muhammad Hassan retained the GWF Heavyweight Title.)

After the match Daivari comes running out and helps Hassan, a bloody mess, to his feet.  Vader sits on the cage dejected that he lost yet another match to Hassan.  As they are about to get through the curtain Randy Savage's music hits.  He comes out and points at the duo and motions that he wants the belt.  The fans file out knowing that next month it will be Randy Savage taking on Muhammad Hassan for the GWF Heavyweight Title.

NEWS AND NOTES:

Matches Signed for next Month at Guts and Glory:
GWF Heavyweight Title Match:  Muhammad Hassan(c) vs. Randy Savage

There are several teams via for the GWF Tag Team Titles.  Several teams could argue for a shot including the Powers of Pain, Pretty Wonderful and the Brain Busters Which team will get the shot or will E&C manage to not defend their titles.

Both the Road Warriors and the debuting Dudley Boys will be action next month and each have said they will be bringing in special teams to face.  What that means the office isn't sure.

The GWF offices are investigating who it is that shut off the lights and attacking the Sandman for months now.  Names like Sabu, Raven, his estranged wife Lori Fullington, Tommy Cairo or someone else from his past?  All of these possibilities are being looked into.

Expect to see Big Van Vader, the Sandman, Villano V, El Dandy, Christopher Nowinksi and the Blitzkrieg to all be in action.

Signed for our 1st anniversary show:

Muhammad Hassan vs. Mick Foley
The Dudley Boys vs. The Road Warriors

It would appear that Edge and Christian's attempt to get under the skin of the Road Warriors backfired. If I were E&C, I would be very worried...

The following tag team match seemed extremely wild and out of control. I was glad to see Savage pick up the win and become the Top Contendor. The Sandman gets attacked again... but at the same time, Hassan attacks Savage... is the mystery man backing Hassan?

Awesome that Vader that gets a rematch tonight... in a cage! Hassan is having a bad day, and it just got worse with the arrival of Cactus Jack! That's awesome... the New Year's Brawl will be wild!

While Mikey may not have looked impressive tonight, Hoyt still had to use a foreign object to win the match. Mikey may not get much offense, but he's a tough guy.

A 5* tag team match... that's what I like to see! The buildup for this match was awesome and the match paid off. I'm sure the fans were extremely into this one. Congrats to E&C for winning, I didn't think they could do it.

Uh oh, Blitzkrieg loses again. Hopefully he's not in the opening stages of a downward spiral. First losing to Big Vis and now to Nowinski...

What's with the Road Warriors attacking Taka & Funaki? First it seems like they're the crowd favorites against E&C, but then they beat up two defenseless guys... at least the Dudleys came to the rescue. Adding the Dudley's just makes GWF's tag team scene even better!

The Warlord and Barbarian better get their tempers under control. Heenan needs to get these guys back on track. If these two split up, they'll likely kill each other.

Vader falls short again! Vader is so strong he probably doesn't even know his own strength... and because of this he punched Hassan right off the cage through the table! Hassan is so lucky... but he may not be so lucky next time against Randy Savage.

The next show looks awesome. I'm particularly interested in the possibility of the unveiling of The Sandman's mystery attacker. Also, Savage and Hassan will be good... and SOOO many tag teams - the tag team scene is extemely hot right now and I'm anxious to see who is the deserving Top Contendors for E&C's titles.
