GWF Show 9:  Operation:  Revenge

Results of Operation:  Revenge Show 9:

The aptly named show "Operation:  Revenge"  began with a grudge match between Pretty Wonderful and the Powers of Pain.  Bobby Heenan was not at ringside.  It is being reported online that he suffered a neck injury and may not be back.  The Barbarian was focused on early on by Pretty Wonderful.  They did a lot of double team moves including a double team delay suplex.  However the Warlord was able to tag in when the Barbarian caught Orndorff with a big boot.  The Warlord was a man possessed as he threw both men around.  He press slammed Roma from the ring and then gave Orndorff a running powerslam.  The Barbarian tagged in and hit a flying headbutt for the win.

The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) defeated Pretty Wonderful (Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma) when Barbarian pinned Orndorff with the Flying Headbutt in 0:08:28.
Rating: ***

After the match the Brain Busters came out and gave Roma a Spiked Piledriver.

Anderson:  Edge and Christian, we are here to issue a simple challenge.  You may have beat the Powers of Pain but you won't be able to beat us.

Tully:  If you have the balls come on out here and get your asses kicked then we will see you later tonight.

Anderson:  This one is for you Bobby.

Our next match was a little bit of an upset as Viscera returned to take on Blitzkrieg.  It was an upset because big Vis actually won against one of the hottest stars in the GWF.  Blitz kept the big man rocked with a lot of aerial moves.  However when Blitz came off for a flying double axhandle Vis caught him and hit the Embalmer Double Choke Slam for the win.

Viscera pinned Blitzkrieg with the Embalmer in 0:11:12.
Rating: **

Next several stage hands came out and started setting up a steel cage while Eric Bischoff came out.

Bischoff:  Hello everyone.  Now I am sure you are wondering what these steel cage is being set up for.  Well up next is a grudge match between Randy Savage and El Dandy.  I am banning El Dandy's new friend Villano V from ringside.  But he should be worrying about his match later tonight against The Sandman.  Now many of you may have noticed more security and that is because of recent attacks against the Sandman.  Of course we will have a match for the GWF title between Big Van Vader and Muhammad Hassan.  I have decided that in this match the title will change hands if there is a DQ or a countout.  All that plus the Brain Busters taking on Edge and Christian and a hardcore triangle match.  Many people have asked about Mick Foley.  We have had many calls at the GWF offices asking about his standing with the company.  Well against my better judgment he will only remain suspended.  If it was my choice he would have been fired and sued for his actions last week.  Don't make me regret listening to the board Mick.  Now enough of me talking.  Lets get the Macho Man out here.

Savage and Dandy had a great match up and Savage seemed a little refocused this week.  Dandy however didn't just lay down.  You could win this match by pinfall or escaping the cage.  Dandy worked on Savage's leg in hopes that he wouldn't be able to climb out.  Dandy got a near fall with his roll up but that wasn't enough.  Dandy hit a vicious brainbuster and climbed out.  However when Dandy got to the top he didn't climb down but went for a a flying splash.  Savage however rolled out of the way.  Dandy didn't move after missing that move.  Savage pulled himself up and then went to the top of the cage.  Savage was about to climb down when he saw Dandy not moving.  Savage then hit his Flying Elbow-Drop from the top and got the pinfall.

Steel Cage:
Randy Savage pinned El Dandy with the Flying Elbow-Drop in 0:12:26.
Rating: **** 1/4

Savage managed to get to his feet holding his knee as the ring crew took the cage down.  As soon as one side is taken off Villano V runs out and attacks Savage.  He hits several flying sentons when suddenly "Enter the Sandman" starts up.  The crowd gets to their feet as the Sandman actually runs out starting our next hardcore match.

The match starts and half the cage is still up.  The Sandman uses it to his advantage throwing both Villano and El Dandy into it.  This is more of a handicap match as Dandy and Villano both worked on the Sandman.  Villano hit an inverted atomic drop and El Dandy hit a hook clothesline, almost a version of the Hart Attack.  The Sandman however came back when the Macho Man took out El Dandy.  The Sandman seemed set to win as he was about to hit the DDT when the lights went out.  They came back up and the Sandman was down and a bloody mess with Villano next to him.  Villano crawled over for a near fall.  He went to the top and missed a flying senton.  Sandman then hit his DDT for the win.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
The Sandman pinned Villano V with the DDT in 0:12:30.
Rating: ** 1/2
[El Dandy interfered against The Sandman.]

After the match a raven is seen sitting on a perch next to the entrance.  The Sandman crawls over and grabs a beer all the while staring at the Raven.

Out next was Taka and Funaki, both still sporting neckbraces.  The fans actually give them a great ovation.

Funaki:  Thank.  We are not 100% but we want to issue a challenge to a team in the back.  That team would be the LOD!  Why?  Because no matter who we face they interfere so why not come face us like men not cowards like you really are.

Hawk and Animal actually run out hearing that but Taka and Funaki are ready.  They both spray mace in the eyes of the LOD.  This worked out well early on as the LOD couldn't fend off the speed of the smaller men.  However as the affects lessened the LOD started fighting back.  Taka and Funaki actually hit several big double team moves including the Tidal Wave, a splash and legdrop combo, for near falls.  Funaki seemed set to win as he went for the Tornado DDT but Animal was too strong and just threw Funaki into the ropes.  As Funaki rebounded Animal hit his Powerslam for the win.

The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated Funaki and Taka Michinoku when
Animal pinned Funaki with the Powerslam in 0:09:23.
Rating: ***

The LOD quickly threw the smaller men from the ring and grabbed the mic.

Animal:  Edge and Christian, you can't run anymore.  We are publicly issuing a challenge for those tag team belts you are wearing.  We deserve to be champions.  We are the only team to hold the AWA, NWA and WWF tag team titles.  There isn't a promotion worth talking about (huge ECW chant starts up) that we haven't dominated.

Hawk:  We have beat every team and every man worth talking about.  Dusty Rhodes, Sting, Tully and Arn, the Rock N Roll Express, the Midnight Express, the Nasty Boys, the Natural Disasters, Money Inc. and the Steiner Brothers.  No one can beat us you bunch of pretty boy bitches.

Animal:  Let me put it another way boys.  Either you give us a title shot or we will take one.  We can be quite persuasive, just ask these jobbers here (pointing to Taka and Funaki).

Hawk:  AWWWW WHAT A RUSH!

The next match was a three way hardcore dance that saw the "King of Hardcore"  Christopher Nowinski upset two hardcore icons.  This was quite by accident as right off the bat he was outclassed.  However Terry and Mikey both wanted to get the pinfall on Nowinski.  That led to fighting between then.  Mikey hit his version of the Pedigree on Funk and then went after Nowinski.  Nowinski however was waiting and hit a low blow followed by slingshotting Mikey into the corner through a table.  He then put one arm on Mikey and got the win.  Funk recovered and put a short but vicious beating on Nowinski.  He then set up a table on the guardrail and the ring, making a sort of shelf.  He but Nowinski on it and went for a moonsault but Nowinski moved and Funk broke the table.  Nowinski made another one arm pin for the win.

3-Man Battle Royal:
Christopher Nowinski won a 3-man Battle Royal:
x C. Nowinski defeated Mikey after a slingshot in
          0:05:04
        x C. Nowinski defeated T. Funk in 0:07:33

Our semi-main event saw E&C defend their tag team titles against the Heenan Family's Brain Busters.  This was a very good match that saw neither team really take control.  Christian was in trouble for a few minutes but he made a tag and it was Tully in trouble.  E&C went for the Stackplex but Arn cut them off.  This trend continued as the Busters went for the Spiked Piledriver but Christian cut them off.  The end came when Tully went for his Slingshot suplex but Christian countered and threw him from the ring.  Arn came in and hit a knee to the back sending Christian from the ring.  Edge came in and attempted to Spear Arn but he moved.  Edge turned around right into the Spinebuster but Edge countered it into his Edgecution for the win.

Edge and Christian defeated The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson) when Edge pinned Anderson with the Edgecution in 0:14:52.

(Edge and Christian retained the GWF Tag Team Titles.)

It was then time for our main event.  A little over a minute into the match a fan jumped into the ring attacking Vader.  The fan spun Vader around and hit a DDT.  The ref, Tim White, quickly called for the bell and of course awarded the belt to Big Van Vader.

["A Fan" interfered against Big Van Vader.]

The fan took off his hat and it is Mick Foley.

Hassan:  That isn't fair!  He knew the title would change.  He screwed me!  I demand this match is restarted!  THIS ISN'T FAIR!!!

Foley:  Fair?  FAIR!  Was it fair what you did to me a few months ago?  WAS IT!  You left me a pool of my own blood you son of a bitch.  I will see you in hell!

With that Foley rolls to the floor and attacks Hassan.  The entire locker room clears out and pulls Mick off but not before several are knocked down in the brawl.  Finally Bischoff comes out.

Bischoff:  ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP!  I want Foley arrested.

Several police officers cuff Foley.  As they walk past Bischoff he grabs him.

Bischoff:  Look around here Mick, this is the last time you will EVER step foot in my arena.  This is the last time you will ever WRESTLE in this country after my lawyers are done with you.

Foley spits in Bischoff's face which causes him to laugh.

Bischoff:  Now Mr. Vader this match will restart and if another one of your friends get involved you will find yourself fired just like your pal Foley.  Now ring the damn bell.

Well Vader's second title run didn't last long, about 20 minutes.  Early on Daivari interfered but Vader gave him a vicious inverted powerbomb.  Back in the match Vader missed a Vader attack and actually went all the way to the post.  Hassan took over and locked in the Camel Clutch but this time Vader wouldn't tap out.  Vader fought out and fell back on Hassan.  Vader came back and seemed set to win the match.  He went for the Vader Bomb but it took him to long to get up.  Daivari slid a chair into Hassan.  Vader came off right onto the chair.  Hassan quickly got rid of the chair and got the win.

Match where the title can change hands via DQ or countout:
Muhammad Hassan defeated Big Van Vader via pinfall in 0:15:53.

[Khosrow Daivari interfered against Big Van Vader.]

The fans erupted into a chorus of boos as Hassan grabbed his belt.  Hasan quickly leaves the ring as the fans exit the building.

GWF Tag Team Title Match :Edge and Christian(c) vs. The Road Warriors

Hardcore Tag Team Match:  Randy Savage/Sandman vs. Villano V/El Dandy

Rematch:  The Powers of Pain vs. Pretty Wonderful including the return of Bobby Heenan

Also in action:  Blitzkrieg, Mikey Whipwreck, Terry Funk, Christopher Nowinski, The Nasty Boys, The Brain Busters and Taka and Funaki plus the debut of a new superstar.

Rumor has it that Big Van Vader has been in meetings with the GWF Championship committee.  It is unknown what it is about at the moment but we could have to do with his "rematch" clause.

The Rock N Roll Express are still under contract with the GWF but have requested some time off to recover from a few nagging injuries.  Expect them back in time for our holiday show "Hardcore Christmas".

The GWF is in negotiations with several big names to start off the new year.  Several have committed to be at our fist anniversary show including one of the most decorated tag teams of all time.

Pretty Wonderful is good, but when the Powers of Pain are as hot as they are right now, they're next to impossible to stop. PW had the right idea by isolating Barbarian and using double team moves whenever possible, but the hot tag was all Barbarian needed to allow Warlord to destroy PW.

The Brain Busters are making a statement here at the expense of poor little Roma. Brain Busters have a motive and Edge & Christian might be in for a hell of a beating.

Big Vis beating Blitzkrieg... while it is a disappointment, it's not much of a surprise. I mean Vis outweighs the guy by what... 400 lbs? The fact that Blitz carried Vis to a 2* match is just as impressive as a win would have been.

Awesome cage match! It's matches like these that I wish you could provide some of the "play-by-play" from TNM. But in any case, the short writeup for the match explained it well. Just when El Dandy could have won it... and proved that he didn't need Villano V to win a match, he went for it all... and came up with nothing. And Savage putting him away with such a huge move like the Flying Elbowdrop from the top of the cage launches himself right back into the fans hearts after letting them down a few weeks in a row.

Villano V should have known better than to come out and attack Savage when he knows The Sandman is scheduled to be his opponet. Did Sandman come to the rescue of Savage... or did he just come out to start his match? From what I could gather, this match was chaotic with bodies everywhere. And to top it all off, the mystery man strikes again... and strikes hard this time. Sandman somehow picks up the win... and our latin wrestlers have nothing to be proud of tonight. Then Raven... is Raven behind the mystery man?!

Taka and Funaki using mace was pretty funny... but they had no other choice... they are an obvious disadvantage against LOD. They didn't capitalize on their opportunity soon enough because LOD came back and won it. After making a joke of Taka and Funaki, they call out E&C. That's two teams that want at E&C... one wants revenge, the other wants the titles. E&C are marked men.

Nowinski wins on a fluke! All he did was get beat up and with two strokes of luck, defeated Mikey and Funk in a hardcore match! I can't even imagine how big Nowinksi's head is going to be when he realizes he won the match.

Good title defense by E&C. If the Brain Busters weren't so focused on getting revenge for Heenan and instead focused on actually winning the match instead of killing their opponents, they probably could have won the titles.

Foley did screw Hassan... but it was deserved. Hassan was lucky that Bischoff restarted the match. I can't believe Vader couldn't win the title on his own, but Hassan is proving to be a worthy champion. But then again, I don't think he's won a match without Davairi's assistance. Here's to hoping Vader gets one more shot at Hassan.

The next card looks great! I'm looking forward to the Road Warriors overcoming E&C for the titles, the wild brawl that will be Sandman/Savage/Villano/Dandy, and hopefully Vader wins the belt back.

Thanks for the feedback.  I don't keep the PbP from TNM.  To be honest quite often I just write what I would want to have happen in the match anyway besides the finish.  This fed is for the most part unbooked which is why big Vis beat Blitz (which I hated when it happened).  The only time I decide a winner is if someone is leaving and the World Title matches.  Thanks again for the feedback.
VertigoPosted on 03/19/05 at 07:46:31

Yes, I could tell for the most part by the descriptions you write because some of the stuff you write is not possible in TNM... but you might be surprised just how well an unbooked circuit can tell a big story through a simple match.
