Hmm -

I was so hoping that Juvy would've kept the title long enough to be considered a dual champion in the Roll Call since he is the current Hard Knox champion as well.

OH WELL!

I do find it unsettling that your title changes are so frequent.
CarlzillaPosted on 03/13/05 at 01:46:15

Every single title changed hands on this show. Crazy.

Now if you worked some match comments in as well as the finishes we'd have a lot more to comment on when it comes to your shows. But other than that almost all of my complaints have been addressed or rectified. Which is good.

Keep 'em coming.

It's better now that there is a little more detail, but I'd like to see more still.  Try to examine the characters of your wrestlers both through brief match writeups and through interviews, and SJPW could become something really interesting due to its large international roster.  Build up feuds and storylines featuring some of the wrestlers you like using the most, and generally just give them a reason to be wrestling each other.

One thing I'd like to see less of is the deathmatches.  I understand that you have a Hardcore title, but having exploding swimming pool barbed wire landmine demilitarized zone full of sharks with lasers on their heads deathmatches every week really makes them not special.  It'd be like having TLC and Hell in a Cell matches every week on RAW.  Yeah, it'd be cool for a while, but after a month or so they aren't worth tuning in for because you can see them anytime.  If you want to promote a serious Hardcore division, I suggest you use mostly no-DQ and Falls Count Anywhere matches, with the really big deathmatches reserved for the end of feuds and title matches on your biggest show.  Furthermore, many of the guys you use in the hardcore division just don't seem to fit there very much - it's not necessarily a bad thing to throw a few technicians or high fliers into the mix there, but the majority should probably be guys who actually wrestle in the hardcore style.  There are plenty of guys in Japan who do that, and if you aren't sure which ones they are, I expect people would be glad to give you some insight into that.

Finally, since you're running unbooked and titles are changing hands so much, you might want to hand out title shots less often.  Restrict it to one or two World Title matches max between major shows, and generally don't have more than 2 title matches on most regular weekly shows - you're giving away too much for free, basically.

Anyway, keep up the good work.  This is a step in the right direction, but I know you can do far more.

OK... I think there are more or less 3 ways of how you write your cards..

Type 1: Recap

This is the type I use (also Snabbit's GCW, Matt Harms' NAWA etc) where you get the match, and a description of how the match went down. In between you have interviews, angles and so on...

Type 2: Play-by-play (LIW, CW, Vertigo's feds, Hard Knox etc), where you have play-by-play from your TNM accompanied by a summary at the end, also with interviews, angles and such in between.

Type 3: Match results + summary (NWJ) where you get the results, and then short summarys of all the matches. And even though it's puro, Carlzilla still manages to get some sort of feuds and angles going on.. even going as far as to get ME to get hold of some Puro tapes (which I really think everyone should do as they are awesome.. but that's beside the point)...

What I'm aiming at is... having a really great roster + putting together matches with MatchMaker + going overboard with the gimmick matches is something everyone could do... I mean.. I love the work Socko is doing with the Plug Ins, but Match Makes doesn't really consider feuds and building up proper matches. I really think Socko meant for the plug-in to be an aid if you're stuck with some matches, not to have your circuit completely depend on it. And as most people have been waiting 24 cards to see some details... a few short lines of play-by-play isn't what we expected.. I think..

And I agree with the frequent title changes... see the topic regarding title changes over at the Discussion forums.. I know retaining titles can be hard in an unbooked fed, but if you just manipulate push a little.. about 10 points maybe.. your champions would really benefit from it.. and when someone actually manages to win a title it would mean so much more.

I really hope you get your circuit going in the right direction, put in some nice interviews, add some comments to your play-by-play... and you're right there..

As it is, I think there are a lot of feds that deserve more reads and replies than this one.. but all of us here at the TNM community wants you to get this perfect, cause it's a lot of potential here. Just go with your own creativity more, don't depend so much on the randomness of plug ins... It's better to have 2 fully detailed shows a week than 5 shows with only results.. anyone could do that...

Anyway.. I know you're learning from all the replies Jimi.. so I will continue to read your shows.. (well.. I read all the shows actually cause I haven't anything better to do..  ;D )
CarlzillaPosted on 03/13/05 at 07:18:17

I run unbooked and Kobashi managed to retain my title for 5 1/2 months. So it's not really running unbooked, it's giving your title to the right guy, and then setting up decent matches every once in a while, not every show.
VertigoPosted on 03/13/05 at 16:09:50

You had a 5* Barbed Wire Dog Collar Match - that's awesome!

I would have to agree with these guys on the writeup situation. If you provide us with just results, it's kind of like reading results in the back of a magazine... they're skimmed over more often than actually read. If you provide a writeup, it gives us, the reader, a chance to get behind the characters and storylines.

If you watch puro tapes, you'll notice that they don't have ridiculous storylines like the WWE does. They build their matches with confrontations in the ring, post-match interviews, and at press gatherings. There is almost always post match interviews, or sometimes just showing the wrestler throw a fit in the locker room or walk passed press with his hand down after a match tells us a story.
SuperstarJimiCPosted on 03/14/05 at 23:58:52

Thanks for the comments guys, i'll take those suggestions under consideration even though, I already have 80-plus cards total already done, which from Week 25 on should be ready to be put on the posts in the future. But the way I do my shows is like the NWA/AWA of the 80's & WWF of the late-70's/early-80's, They were always unbooked. Again thank you.
rey619Posted on 03/15/05 at 12:30:52

What do you mean they were unbooked? So Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat had what.. . like a shoot fight?? Wrestling has always been booked man..
CarlzillaPosted on 03/15/05 at 12:54:20

I'd pay to see Flair and Steamboat in a shoot. Yeehaw!
