GWF Show 8:  Funk You

cerberosPosted on 03/13/05 at 23:59:20

The show starts off with Eric Bischoff coming out to a chorus of boos.

Bischoff:  Hello everyone.  I want to say that the GWF ownership committee has hired me to replace Mick Foley after his actions last week.  The first thing I am going to do is reinstate the Road Warriors tonight and put them into a four corners tag team match.  Action number two will be to have another match between the Powers of Pain and Edge and Christian.  Now before Mick was removed from office he made a special match tonight.  It will be Big Van Vader and a partner of his choosing against the GWF Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Hassan and his partner Khosrow Daivari.  Should Vader and his partner win this match Vader will get a rematch.  Now many of you are hoping it will be Mick Foley.  Well I am suspending him from competing here for six months.  He needs to cool off and not allow his own personal prejudices influence him.  So let me say that I am glad to be here in the GWF and have a nice day.

As Bischoff walks to the back the Road Warriors walk out and they shake hands.  Out next was the Posse, then the Rock and Roll Express and lastly Funaki and Taka in neckbraces.  This was a showcase for the Warriors.  They gave Morton the Doomsday Device and then tagged in Rodney who hit a "vicious" elbow for the pinfall.  Hawk however came in and hit several big power moves followed by a flying shoulderblock for the pinfall.  Taka and Funaki, who wrestled in their braces, nearly upset the Warriors again with the same move but Hawk was ready.  They ended it when Animal actually managed to lift both men and they hit a modified Doomsday Device for the win.

Four Corners Match:
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated Funaki and Taka Michinoku,
Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) and The Mean Street Posse (Pete Gas and Rodney):
x Rodney beat R. Morton via the elbowdrop in 0:09:07
x Hawk beat Rodney via a flying shoulderblock in 0:10:40
x Hawk beat Funaki via the Doomsday Device in 0:16:06
Rating: ** 3/4

The next match saw Blitzkrieg taking on El Dandy.  This wasn't much of a match as Blitz seemed to be on top of his game.  He ended it quickly with the Asai moonsault.

Blitzkrieg pinned El Dandy after an Asai moonsault in 0:02:37.
Rating: ** 1/4

El Dandy rolled to the floor and acted hurt holding his knee.  Trainers came out to check on him as our next match started.  This was another short match as Randy Savage, fresh of the biggest loss of his career, took on Villano V.  Savage seemed set to hit his Flying Elbow when Dandy jumped up and attacked Savage.  The Mexican Duo continued the attack for several minutes until finally leaving Savage broken in the ring.

Randy Savage defeated Villano V by disqualification in 0:04:11.

Out next was the Heenan Family.

Heenan:  First off I want to say how great it is to have a real man like Eric Bischoff in charge of this company.  I was appalled with Mick Foley's recent actions against a fine American like Mr. Hassan.  Now I want to send a warning out to Edge and Christian.  Watch what the Brainbusters do to two New York hacks like the Nasty Boys because that will be nothing compared to what my Powers of Pain do to you tonight.  Watch and learn boys.

Heenan was right atleast when it came to the Nastys and the Busters.  The Nastys were able to get in control early on with a some "clubbering" but the busters soon took them off their feet and it was all over.  They worked over a body part, this time Sag's arm and Knobbs leg before Arn hit his Gourdbuster on Knobbs for the win.

The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson) defeated The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags) when Anderson pinned Knobbs with the Gourdbuster in 0:07:56.

Next out came our GWF Champion Muhammad Hassan.

Hassan:  Hello everyone and welcome to the beginning of a new era.  An era of respect for myself and my people.  I beat a man that people said is unbeatable.  I beat a man that people said would never tap out.  I made him tap out.

Daivari then grabbed a mic and started screaming stuff in Arabic.

Hassan:  Now before we go prepare for our destruction of your hero I want to tell you all why Mick Foley isn't here.  He wasn't removed he was afraid of what we would do to him.  He humiliated him last month and he is afraid to EVER show his face in the wrestling world again.  He fears me and well he should.  Mick I am daring you to show up again.  I am daring you to try and take my title away.  You can't and you won't.  You sit at home and fear me Mick Foley because that is all you can do.

Daivari walks to the back screaming in Arabic.

Next was a match asked for by Mikey Whipwreck.  He wanted to show Terry Funk that he was still Hardcore.  He took on the Sandman who was still upset over the attack last month by a "fan" of some kind.  This match was insane.  All sorts of weapons were used and all kinds of violence.  The Sandman was busted open by his own beer can to start with and then did the same with to Mikey with his trusty cane.  During the match Christopher Nowinski came out wearing a "King of Hardcore" shirt.  He just watched as the match continued.  Mikey went for the Whippersnapper but the Sandman shoved him into the ropes.  The Sandman then hit a powerslam followed by his DDT for the win.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
The Sandman pinned Mikey Whipwreck with the DDT in 0:10:55.
Rating: ** 3/4

After the match the Sandman was doing his usual drinking celebration when again a fan attacked him from behind, this time breaking a frying pan over his head.  He ran off nearly as quickly as he showed up.

E&C continued to their string of good matches with the PoP.  However this time the titles didn't change.  Early on the PoP used their strength to throw E&C around.  Edge was isolated and was hit with the Running Powerslam followed by the headbutt by the Barbarian but Christian broke it up.  The turning point came Edge hit a double DDT on the PoP.  Christian came in and used more speed.  However they cut him off.  The Warlord held Christian while the Barbarian went for his Kick of Fear Christian moved and the Warlord was knocked from the ring.  Christian quickly hit the Unprettier for the win.

Edge and Christian defeated The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) when
Christian pinned Barbarian with the Unprettier in 0:08:34.

(Edge and Christian retained the GWF Tag Team Titles.)

Edge and Christian quickly bailed while Heenan talked to the PoP.  As the PoP posed in the ring for the fans out came Pretty Wonderful.  They attacked the PoP and Bobby Heenan from behind.  They then gave Heenan a Spiked Piledriver.  From the back out stumbles the Brain Busters, both bleeding from what seems to be an attack in the back.  They don't fair any better in the ring.  Then out comes the Bushwhackers.  They had a quick match that saw Paul Orndorff end it with his Piledriver.

Pretty Wonderful (Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma) defeated The Bushwhackers (Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch) when Orndorff pinned Butch with the Piledriver in 0:02:17.

EMT's and trainers came and checked on the Heenan Family.  Bobby was placed on a stretcher and carried out.  During this several wrestlers came out and checked on Bobby Heenan including Terry Funk and Big Van Vader.  The fans applauded as Heenan was wheeled into the back with his Family behind him.  Funk was about to walk through the curtain when he was attacked by Christopher Nowinski.

Nowinski:  Hey Terry, I thought you were going to teach me a lesson?  Well personally I think it is time for YOU to go to school.

Nowinski slapped Funk who responded with a series of right hands.  Funk and Nowinski never made it to the ring as they fought mostly in the aisle way.  During the brawl Mikey Whipwreck came out.  Terry Funk locked Nowinski in a sleeper hold and Mikey ran up.  He threw a fireball at Nowinski but he moved and it hit Funk.  Nowinski quickly hit Whipwreck with his Full Nelson Slam and defeated Funk with an elbowdrop.

Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Christopher Nowinski pinned Terry Funk after an elbowdrop in 0:07:04.

[Mikey Whipwreck interfered against Terry Funk.]

Our main event was scheduled to be a tag team match.  Vader came out followed by his partner "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.  As they came out from behind Muhammad Hassan and Daivari attacked.  They nailed Vader with the belt and clipped Duggan.  They then broke his board over his knee.  Hassan and Daivari then got in the ring.

Hassan:  RING THE BELL!  COUNT THEM OUT!

At this point Eric Bischoff's music hit.

Bischoff:  That isn't going to happen Mr. Hassan.  However this match will take place and if Vader's partner can't compete I guess we will just have a handicap match instead.

Most of the match Vader was dominated because of sheer numbers.  Vader would start a comeback only to be cut off by the man on the outside.  Near the end Vader took both men down with a double lariat.  From the crowd out came Mick Foley.  Foley ran in and gave Daivari a double arm DDT and then clotheslined Hassan from the ring taking himself with him.  In the ring Vader drug himself to the top and hit the Vader Bomb for the win and the title shot.

Handicap-No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Big Van Vader defeated Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari when Vader pinned
Daivari with the Vader Bomb in 0:13:31.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Mick Foley interfered against Khosrow Daivari.]

Foley jumped in the ring and pulled Vader to his feet.  The two then stood triumphant in the ring.

Tons of stuff going on at this show!

I'm glad to see the Road Warriors back and it was cool that it came down to them and Funaki/Taka. A stacked Doomsday Device makes me cringe... I think Funaki/Taka will be in their neck braces for awhile longer.

Villano & El Dandy would be an awesome win. Targeting a guy like Randy Savage is good for them if they're trying to get their names on the map. Not sure if they're attacking him for personal reasons or to simply make a statement though.

Poor Mikey - he's been digging deep in his roots to regain his hardcore mentality, but he'll never be able to get out of the "underdog" image. At least Mikey can defend himself well. As for that fan, I'm in suspense. I want to know who the maniac is!

The feud over the tag belts between E&C and PoP is pretty good. They put out high quality matches each time. Adding Pretty Wonderful to the mix should freshen things up! I mark for Pretty Wonderful. All hell broke loose when they showed up on the scene! They nearly kill Heenan, beat the Bushwhackers with ease, and a fight breaks out in aisle way!

Unbelievable that Nowinski beat the Funker! It's a legitamate win, but I'm not buying that Nowinski has converted to hardcore yet. Funker will get him back... and Mikey throwing a fireball... yeah, I'm pretty sure Nowinksi's a dead man.

Cool to see Vader picking Duggan as a partner as Duggan represents everything that Hassan and Daivari are against... but those bastards cheap shot Duggan and he doesn't even make it to the match! Vader winning the handicapped match was a surprise, but Foley's presence helped a lot. Vader will regain that title... and Foley... well... who knows... he's insane!
