GWF SHow 7:  Red, White and Bruised

cerberosPosted on 03/13/05 at 17:40:41

The show opens up with the Rock N Roll Express taking on the Nasty Boys.  This was a good match with, as usually Ricky Morton playing the face in peril.  Near the end of the match Gibson and Morton hit Knobbs with their Double Dropkick and the official went down.  From the crowd out came the Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal.  Getting revenge for a few weeks back they attacked the Rock N Roll Express.  Hawk caught Gibson with his Flying Clothesline as he got up and Animal took Morton's head off with a clothesline.  Sags came in but Hawk gave him a boot the gut followed by a vicious field goal style low blow.  The LOD then proceeded to give Morton a Doomsday Device.  They then put Knobbs on top for the win.

[Hawk interfered against Jerry Sags.]

After the match they threw all four men from the ring.

Animal:  You want to suspend us Foley?  Look at what we can do.  We are your tag team division even if you won't give us the title shot.

Hawk:  You know what Foley?  You can't stop us.  Bill Watts, Verge Gagne, Eric Bischoff, Ted Turner, Ric Flair not even Vince McMahon could control us.  We dine on danger and snack on death Foley.  If you continue to screw with us you might be next to be laid out.

The Warriors then end their destruction by attack official Mickey Jay and giving him the Doomsday Device.  They then leave through the crowd.

Our next match saw the new King of Hardcore face off with Blitzkrieg.  Blitzkrieg continues to show that he deserves to be here in the GWF with great performances.  This time he managed to bring a very good match out of Nowinski.  Early on Nowinski grounded the high flyer by working on his back.  He hit a series of slams and suplexes.  However when Nowinski tried to use a chair, very illegally mind you, he missed Blitz, hit the ropes and it came back and hit him in the face.  Blitz hit a sitout face slam followed by the Stardust Press for the win.

Blitzkrieg pinned Christopher Nowinski with the Stardust Press in 0:10:53.
Rating: *** 3/4

After the match Nowinksi attacked Blitz with a chair.  From the back out came Mikey Whipwreck but he too was taken out with the chair.  From the back out came the legendary Terry Funk armed with a flaming branding iron.  Nowinski quickly ran like a scared rabbit.  Funk then grabbed Whipwreck and gave him a quick piledriver.

Funk:  Mikey, you have lost that edge you used to have.  You allowed that college boy to show you up.  Well later tonight I am going to beat the hardcore back into you.

This got a huge ovation as Funk went to the back.  Next out came E&C for their rematch against the PoP.  Something about the New York crowd loves the Powers of Pain and they seem to love them.  They have had better matches in the six months here then they have their entire careers.  It also helps to be working with E&C.  This match was no exception to the "rule".   E&C managed to isolate the Warlord with a series of quick tags and surprising double teams.  Finally the Barbarian got the tag.  He was a house of fire and hit a vicious big boot on Edge and gave Christian a powerslam.  The Barbarian went for a rope walk flying headbutt but Christian moved.  Christian then took out Bobby Heenan who was on the apron.  He turned around right into a clothesline from the Warlord that took both men over the top rope.  In the ring the Barbarian went for a suplex but Edge countered into the Edgecution for the win and became two time GWF Tag Team Champions.

Edge and Christian defeated The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) when
Edge pinned Barbarian with the Edgecution in 0:09:21.
Rating: **** 1/2
(Edge and Christian won the GWF Tag Team Titles.)

Following the title change came a huge upset, which seems par for the course here in the GWF, as El Dandy defeated former number one contender Randy Savage.  Savage went for his Flying Elbow but Dandy moved and rolled him up with the Dandina Cradle for the huge win.

El Dandy pinned Randy Savage with the Dandina Cradle in 0:04:51.

Savage just sat in the ring in shock for moments before heading to the back with his head down.  After the match we see Commissioner Mick Foley for the first time tonight.

Foley:  Thanks everyone for coming out to Red, White and Bruised.  I know it is the Fourth of July and all so again thank you.  I would like everyone to rise for the playing of our National Anthem.

Everyone stands and looks to the back expecting Muhammad Hassan and he does come out.  Only he stands respectfully as the Anthem is played.  When it is done he pulls a mic out.

Hassan:  Surprised Mick?  You forget I was born and raised in this country.  I am not an animal Mick.  I respect this country it is this country that doesn't respect me or my people.  Well that is fine with me.  Because after tonight they will have to respect me because I will be the GWF Champion.  Mick, look deep down and realize that your worse dream is about to come true.  Have a nice day.

Villano V and the Sandman had a nice hardcore match.  Near the end a fan attacked the Sandman.  He hit him in the head with beer bottle and this allowed Villano to get the win.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Villano V defeated The Sandman via pinfall in 0:06:43.

["A Fan" interfered against The Sandman.]

The "Fan" quickly ran off as security was in hot pursuit.

Our next match saw the Brain Busters return to take on the Bushwhackers.  This was a great match for the fans to interact with but not good in ring action.  The end came when Double A hit his Gourdbuster for the win.

The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson) defeated The Bushwhackers (Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch) when Anderson pinned Butch with the Gourdbuster in 0:08:23.

Our semi main event saw Terry Funk and Mikey Whipwreck have a huge brawl that the fans ate up.  They loved every minute of it.  Funk and Whipwreck used all kinds of weapons including a record of some kind.  Near the end Mikey hit the Whippersnapper when from the back out ran Christopher Nowinski.  Mikey however was ready and gave him a Whippersnapper over the top rope.  He then turned around right into a Terry Funk right hand.  He then hit a piledriver followed by locking in the Spinning Toe Hold.  Finally Mikey tapped out.

Terry Funk made Mikey Whipwreck submit to the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:12:54.

[Christopher Nowinski interfered against Mikey Whipwreck.]

Funk:  Christopher, next month I am going to show you real hardcore.  You want to call yourself the hardcore legend, the King of Hardcore.  Well we will see.

It seems that titles just don't want to stay around the waste of anybody.  We have a new GWF Champion as Muhammad Hassan defeated Vader and did something very few people have done, make the Rocky Mountain Monster tap out.  Early on Hassan was thrown around by the big man.  Daivari however tripped Vader giving Hassan the advantage.  During the match Mick Foley came out and started cheering on Vader.  At one point Daivari and Foley came to blows on the floor.  Vader rolled to the floor and attacked Daivari and actually threw him into the crowd.  However Hassan came off with a double axhandle.  Hassan then gave Foley the STO on the floor.  In the ring Vader went for his Moonsault but Hassan moved.  Hassan then locked in the camel clutch.  Vader fought it but finally tapped out.

Muhammad Hassan made Big Van Vader submit to a camel clutch in 0:19:45.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Muhammad Hassan won the GWF Heavyweight Title.)
[Khosrow Daivari interfered against Big Van Vader.]

Hassan grabbed the belt and rolled to the floor where Foley was getting up.  Hassan then nailed him with the belt busting him open.

Hassan:  You now have to respect me Foley.  I beat your monster.  I beat your hand picked champion.  Love it or hate it Foley I am the YOUR champion and there is NOTHING you can do about it!

Hassan then put Foley in the Camel Clutch with the belt right in his face.  Daivari came over and started screaming at him in Arabic.  Finally they grabbed their belt and left.  From the back Terry Funk, Mikey Whipwreck and the Sandman all came out to check on Mick while in the ring Vader just held his neck and stared at Hassan.

The poor RnR Express! They took a brutal beating! The Road Warriors definatly proved a point with that attack. If I was the Nasty Boys, I would consider ourselves extremely lucky.

Nowinski's little "hardcore" gimmick doesn't seem to be working too well for him. First it backfires on him against Blitzkrieg, and now he's got the Hardcore Legend himself, Terry Funk, chasing after him!

The tag titles didn't stay with the PoP for very long, did they? Oh well - I'm going to say E&C got lucky and if PoP gets a rematch, they'll win the belts back. But to get the rematch, they might have to through the Road Warriors and the Nasty Boys and the Brain Busters too. The tag division is pretty intense right now.

El Dandy and Villano V scoring back to back victories! Hooray for lucha libre! Savage needs to focus - it seems like after losing the title match against Vader at the last show he hasn't really got his head back in the game. As for The Sandman and that crazed fan, I'm kind of anxious to see who it is. Someone from Sandman's past like Raven or Sabu? An anti-drinking/anti-smoking person like CM Punk? Lori Fullington? Hell, it could be anyone since there are probably a ton of people out there that don't like The Sandman!

Mikey showed he still has some hardcore in him, but it seems like Terry Funk took him to school. And speaking of schools, I think Funk U is going to topple Harvard U in due time.

The big story, Muhammed Hassan! Not only winning the Heavyweight Title by beating Vader, not only by making Vader submit, but he also beats the crap out of Foley!! What kind of champion is Hassan? Foley's got to regret the day he made the decision to give Hassan that title shot. Congrats to Hassan, but GWF is in big trouble now...

Good show. Just enough detail to give me an idea of what's going on. That's good. A little more detail wouldn't hurt, but like I said, you've given me enough here. I look forward to more GWF action and the storylines from this show are picking up quickly...
