IWA Resurrection - September 25th 2005

rey619Posted on 03/06/05 at 18:30:22

IWA presents its biggest show so far, coming to you from Uncasville, CT. The date is September 25th, and we go straight to video footage of Christopher Daniels arriving at the arena earlier today.

* A black sedan with dark windows park in front of the arena. Border City Patrol (D'Amore, Petey, Kevin Steen and the lovely Elsa Bangz) walk towards it as Christopher Daniels get out of the car*

Petey: "Do you think I'm some kind of joke, Daniels? Is that it? I spat in your face last month, and you didn't do anything about it. Do you think you are better than me? Better than us?" *pointing towards the rest of the BCP.

Scott D'Amore: "Maybe you can shrug of a loogie, but tonight we're gonna rough you up good. 'Cause this place doesn't need you Daniels, doesn't need your mumbo jumbo preaching and antics."

*the Fallen Angel doesn't say anything, he simply makes a motion with his hand, and suddenly two doors of his sedan opens, and out comes Elix Skipper and Low Ki! Triple X has reunited, and the BCP is suddenly silenced.

Daniels: "And his Disciples came forth to protect HIM from the wrath of the jealous and the weak, and they didn't even have to fight, for the mere presence of them were sufficient enough to strike awe in HIS enemies. So sayeth the gospel of the Fallen Angel."

At the start of the show, President DeMei came down to the ring.

"As you may have noticed, some.. well.. a lot of the matches as of late have been ruined by outside interference. That is why I have seen fit to hire an enforcer.. someone who will be present during the matches and who will take care that no outside interference takes place. He will not prevent any of the wrestlers from cheating however, that is the domain of the ref. So without further ado, please welcome the IWA Enforcer.... Doug Williams!"

"The Anarchist" Doug Williams comes down to a loud applause from the crowd. DeMei shakes his hand and Williams positions himself near the timekeeper. Time to start some action!

Match 1 - Triple X vs Batts/D-Ray 3000 vs Carnage Crew vs Sabian/Hyde

Well, President DeMei announced new signings, but the Triple X was more than anyone ever could hope. Batts teamed up with another newcomer here tonight in D-Ray 3000 (Jerelle Clark is in singles action this week), the Carnage Crew always ready for a challenge, and Hyde/Sabian happy to be on the card again.

Quick tags see all three teams in action during the first two minutes, no team managing to get the upper hand before about the 9th minute mark when Loc and DeVito managed to isolate Elix Skipper, hitting Prime Time with a huge double clothesline to send him to the canvas. After Skipper managed to tag in D-Ray, the Carnage Crew did the same to him, even going as far as using a swinging bulldog on a seemingly unbreakable table. At this point, Triple X brawled on the outside with Sabian and Hyde, keeping their attention away from the ring where Loc were toying with D-Ray. Unfortunately for Loc, D-Ray managed to hot tag Mikey Batts. No sweat for Loc who powered Batts to the ground with a powerslam. Batts kipped up and connected with the Batts Beater for the minor upset here!

Four Corners Match:
Mikey Batts and D-Ray 3000 defeated Triple X (Elix Skipper & Low Ki), The Carnage Crew (HC Loc and Tony DeVito) and Sabian and DJ Hyde when M. Batts pinned Loc with the Batts Beater in 15:39
Rating: **3/4

As Batts and the dizzy D-Ray were celebrating their unexpected win, President DeMei came out.

DeMei: "Congrats guys, nice debut D-Ray. Your head ok?"

*D-Ray nods, then shakes his head.. then nods again.. before shrugging and sitting down*

DeMei: "I'll take that as a yes. Anyway, there is one team that were quite upset with me for not including them in this match.. so I promised them a match against the winners. And since the winners... well.. you know where I'm going.. ladies and gentlemen... the Havana Pitbulls!

Match 2 - Mikey Batts / D-Ray 3000 vs the Havana Pitbulls

DeMei was not joking when he said major tag-teams were coming to IWA. The Pitbulls are one of the best tag-team on the Indy scene, and D-Ray and Mikey had their work cut out for them in this one.
The Pitbulls tried to keep Batts in the ring and finish him off early, stunning "Straight Up" with a Tombstone in the opening minutes. Batts was able to keep his momentum from the last match, sending Reyes to the floor with a swinging DDT before tagging D-Ray. Romero and D-Ray traded some stinging chops and punches before crashing into each other with a double clothesline. Romero crawled over to Ricky Reyes, who almost put D-Ray away with a german suplex before hitting him with the Avalanche Brain Buster. Batts was simply to tired to make the save. The Pitbulls win, but Mikey Batts has certainly caught the fans attention tonight.

President DeMei is talking with Chris Candido in his office..

DeMei: "So.. I don't know if I understand.. you want a match with.. Samoa Joe?"

Chris: "Yes.. yes.. that is correct. For the IWA Heavyweight Championship, please."

DeMei: "You know.. I bet there are several other wrestlers who would like that as well. Do you think I will grant you a shot at the title just for asking nicely?"

Chris: "I said please, right?"

DeMei: "Tell you what.. tonight.. if you can avoid being pinned in 10 minutes by Joe.. I will give you your title shot. Just because you asked nicely. OK?"

Match 3 - Generation Next vs Briscoe Brothers & Buck Quartermain

Wow.. Candido vs Joe later on, but now.. the recently crowned tag-team champions alongside Roderick Strong will end (?) the feud with the Briscoe Brothers whose mystery partner is.. "Iceman" Buck Quartermain!

Roderick Strong used his strength and sizes to power down the Briscoes in the opening minutes, as Francine for some reason tried to take the Enforcer Doug WIlliams' attention away from the ring by sitting on his lap! A strategy that actually did more harm than good when the jealous Evans told her to get away from his lap, allowing Jay to almost score the pin with a small package. Quartermain followed up with a series of punches and a vicious underhook faceslam that almost obliterated the skinny Evans.

Generation Next used quite a strange strategy in this match, trying to spare Jason Cross as long as possible. By the 10th minute mark, Cross finally entered the ring, almost scoring a fall on Jay with a Rocker Dropper. Would this peculiar strategy work? Mark tried to help out his brother, but was taken down by Cross and put in a Dragon Sleeper. Quartermain broke it up. By now, the Briscoes were exhausted, and "the Role Model" Jason Cross was rested. Cross put Mark in a modified sleeperhold, and Mark tapped out.

Match 4 - Nigel McGuinnes vs Chris Benoit

Possibly the last appearance by a WWE star for a while tonight as Chris Benoit faced Nigel McGuinness in a re-match from last month. This match also saw the debut of IWA's only female official, Topanga Mitchell.

As expected, these two men put on a technical, mat-based wrestling match with armdrags, holds and counterholds. Benoit was desperate for a win, but quickly found out that last month's loss was no fluke, as the cunning Brit saw every move Benoit tried in advance and countered it brilliantly with one of his own. Benoit finally got a break when he managed his German suplex series on McGuinness, only to have him kick out at two.
Benoit then went upstairs for the flying headbutt for another two-count, before clasping on the Crossface. McGuinness didn't yield, instead rolling over and putting Benoit in an armbar submission. Benoit slowly made his way over to the ropes, forcing McGuinness to let go. Benoit made his way to his feet, only to fall beneath the Guvnor's Crumpet (scissors kick) for the pin in a match with a very vocal crowd. Both men got to their feet, and Benoit reluctantly extended his hand to congratulate McGuinness on his fine win.

Match 5 - Jerelle Clark vs Tiger Mask IV

Before the match, Jerelle said it was an honor to be chosen among all the guys in the back to fight Tiger Mask. As the match progressed though, Clark may have wanted it to be someone else, as Tiger Mask effectively grounded Clark and started working on his arms and legs. However, when Clark first got out of the Japanese holds, he was unstoppable, nailing the masked superstar with several springboard moves, DDT, moonsaults and drop kicks, even applying some submission moves of his own. One thing with Clark is that he doesn't know when to stop, and all those moves made him quite dizzy. The next springboard attempt was promptly caught by Tiger Mask who drilled him to the ground with a jumping DDT which set up the Tiger Suplex for the win in a very entertaining match.

Match 6 - "Empire Saint" Pat Kenney vs "Phenomenal" AJ Styles in a Texas Death Match

In what turned out to be a controversial match, Pat Kenney and AJ Styles really let loose on each other, raining blows and kicks left and right. This match also highlighted the fact that ref Topanga Mitchell needs more matches to referee, because she clearly ignored the fact that Pat Kenney's foot was on the rope, still trying to count to 10. Kenney got into ref Mitchell's face, allowing AJ to low blow the Empire Saint, then sending him to the floor with a superkick that would make HBK proud. Styles then set him up for the Styles Clash, and as ref Mitchell counted, AJ actually started to walk out. At 9, Kenney got back to his feet, causing the amazed Styles to run back to the ring, hitting Kenney with a facebuster and ordering Mitchell to count him out. The count was perhaps a little quick, but AJ was awarded the victory

AJ Styles pinned Pat Kenney with a vertical facebuster in 13:20

Match 7 - Doug Williams vs John Walters

No enforcer in this match, as the enforcer himself did battle with John Walters, another newcomer.
The crowd was treated to another pure wrestling match here, with suplex and chain-wrestling as the focus.
Poor referee Mitchell didn't have a good day on the job, as she unfortunately got in the way and was squashed between Williams and Walters. Walters then put Williams in a keylock. The Anarchist was able to counter it into a figure-four eventually, and when ref Mitchell finally got back to her feet, both men were wracked with pain. Both men knew that a couple of big moves was all it could take to put the other one away. Walters tried a Northern Lights, Williams tried a powerslam, but neither wanted to lose and kicked out at the last possible moment. As both men were swaying, Walters hit a sunset flip power bomb, putting Walters away.

We go backstage to the Border City Patrol where our backstage interviewer Cindy Strappen is.

Petey (to D'Amore): "Did you see that? That idiot used MY move! He can't use the Canadian Destroyer, it's copyrighted, isn't it?"

Cindy: "Guys.. guys.. tonight, Border City Patrol will make their debut. Kevin Steen will fight Christopher Daniels. This must be a big match for you Kevin.

Kevin: "Of course it is a big match. For Daniels. It's not like he get to face Mr. Wrestling every day, now is it?"

Cindy: "How do you feel about the fact that outside interference is practically impossible? The enforcer Doug Williams will be there."

Scott: "Who do you think you are? Mr. Wrestling doesn't need our help to defeat the preacher-man. Border City Patrol is here to clean out the filth, starting with Triple X and Christopher Daniels. You'll see in the coming months the kind of influence these two men, with my guidance, will have on IWA. And in the end, President DeMei will thank me, for only the purest and the best will be left when we are through. Come on guys, let's do a couple of laps in the corridor."

*Steen, Petey and Scott disappear out the door as Elsa Bangz walks over to Cindy*

Elsa: "Now, let me tell you about this webpage of mine, and of a once in a lifetime opportunity.... "

Match 7 - Samoa Joe vs Chris Candido

Well, time will tell if Cindy will appear on elsabangz.com, but let us now go back to the ring, where Chris Candido needs to survive 10 minutes with the dominant champion Samoa Joe. The enforcer Doug Williams hadn't come back yet, still recovering from the loss at Walters' hands.

Joe soaked up everything Candido sent at him in the opening of this match, before tossing him to the outside and crashing down on him with a tope con hilo. As Candido brought out the best brawling techniques he could remember from his ECW days, both men were cut open by the repeated closed-fist punches. Candido tried to stay out of the ring during most of the match, as the clock slowly approached the 10 minute mark that would signal Candido's "victory". Somehow, this match didn't quite catch on with the crowd, and chants of "boring" could be heard, an occurence never before happening here in IWA. Joe finally got hold of Candido, pulling him into the ring and locking on with the Guillotine Choke.
Candido soon lost consciousness, and the ref awarded the victory at 09:23!

Rating: *3/4

Samoa Joe was on his way out when Candido slowly got up and grabbed a microphone.

"So.. Samoa... I will see you.. next week.. for the Heavyweight Title."

*Joe has a quizzical expression on his face*

"You see, President DeMei promised me a title match if I could avoid being PINNED within 10 minutes. And that, my friend, I did!"

Candido is laughing and poining at Samoa who simply shrugs and heads to the back, not fearing the title match next month in the least.

Match 9 - Goldust vs The Spanish Announcer

The Spanish Announcer Joel Maximo wanted to exact revenge on Goldust for his participation in the brutal pre-match assault he and nWo Sting committed last month.

For once, Goldust tried to be all business and no pleasure, as he took down Joel with a bulldog. But, Goldust isn't getting any younger, and he had severe problems keeping up with Maximo's pace and severity, and Joel gained a measure of revenge when he was able to put Goldust away.

Match 10 - Teddy Hart vs the Messiah vs Homicide in a FCA match

Before this 3-way grudge match, President DeMei made his way out to the ring, together with enforcer Williams who still looked a little reduced.

"This 3-way dance that we are soon to be treated with is more than a grudge match. You see, next month, we will hold a Gauntlet, where the winner will be officially recognized as the top contender for Samoa Joe's, or, less likely but still, Chris Candido's world title. Six men will be involved in the gauntlet, all of them among the top men here in IWA. In the first match, Christopher Daniels will face off with the one who is pinned in this match. The next opponent will be one who has impressed me tonight, Jerelle Clark! Whoever is still in the gauntlet will then face the one losing, but not taking the fall in the 3-way dance. The next opponent will be none other than AJ Styles. And the final obstacle in the gauntlet will be tonight's winner. So Hart, Homicide.. Messiah.. this match really matters.

West coast vs east coast vs Canada here in a grueling 3-way streetfight. Homicide and Messiah ganged up on Hart in the start, hitting him with a vicious DVD from the top-rope. the Messiah then said something to Homicide, who went to Messiah's robe and retrieved brass knuckles. Apparently, the Messiah wanted Homicide to give them to him so he could use them on Hart, but Homicide decided to punch the lights out of the Messiah instead, not having forgotten the Singapore cane shot to the back last month. Hart took advantage of this, dropkicking Homicide out of the ring and leaping out with a springboard Shooting star bodyblock. The two then brawled through the crowds, and Messiah soon joined them, busting Homicide open with a Yakuza kick. The threesome now descended some stairs, Hart dropkicking the Messiah, causing him to tumble all the way down to the floor. Homicide took advantage of this, catching Hart by surprise with a Cop Killa for yet another win over Hart.

Match 11, and your Main Event of the Evening - "Mr Wrestling" Kevin Steen w/Scott D'Amore & Elsa Bangz vs "the Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Petey Williams were ejected before the match by a very authoritative Doug Williams who wouldn't even accept a kiss from Elsa in exchange for Petey being there.

Steen showed that even though he doesn't look like it, he is capable of some very amazing feats, like running planchas and lightning quick moonsaults. Daniels was caught off guard by the young Steen, but found his way back into the match in short time. The match went to the outside, where Scott D'Amore tried to sucker punch Daniels, only to have Doug Williams come between them and eject D'Amore as well!

Back in the ring, Daniels misses the BME (best moonsault ever), allowing Steen to get in the Package Piledriver for a 2 count. Steen then goes upstairs for a moonsault, but Daniels pulls his knees up, catching Steen across them. Steen bounces up and runs into ref Ohlsson, who tumbles over the ropes and out. With no refs, Doug Williams improvises and jumps in the ring to referee.
As he explains this to Daniels, Steen drop kicks Williams into the Fallen Angel, sending him out to the ringside area. Williams turns his back while he is warning Steen, allowing Petey Williams to sneak in unseen through the crowd, executing the Canadian Destroyer on the outside. Williams sneaks out again as Doug Williams have no other choice but count Daniels out.

Rating: **3/4

The BCP are celebrating after the match when Elix Skipper and Low Ki come down to the ring to let Williams know what just happened. Williams appears to listen intently to Low Ki and Skipper, before he suddenly hits Skipper with the Revolution DDT as Steen and Williams attacks the rest of Triple X. Bangz sneaks up behind Ki and nails him with a low blow, sending him down. Border City Patrol continue to stomp on Triple X, and as they leave, D'Amore raises Williams' hands in the air, signalling that the enforcer Williams is in fact, a member of the Border City Patrol!

Well, thanks for ordering "Resurrection", and in one month's time, we will be in Atlantic City, New Jersey with the IWA Heavyweight Title on the line, and a highly anticipated Gauntlet match as well!

Go Go Tiger Mask *cue trumpets*

I don't have any idea who Kevin Steen is so boo to him winning...especially over the alter ego of the king of spice.

All in all it was an entertaining read. I'd do it again.
rey619Posted on 03/07/05 at 13:47:56

Kevin Steen is a young Canadian wrestler from IWS.. a high flyer without a skinny Jack Evans body. Triple X didn't have a perfect debut, but a screwed countout loss doesn't hurt Daniels much, even against Steen. Besides, it furthers the Triple X vs Border City Patrol storyline.

Expect more puro stars next month Carl  ;)

IWA News Report - October 4th - Breaking news

It's still 18 days left to the next IWA: NE show, but several matches have already been scheduled.

Thanks to Low Ki and Doug Williams' relationship with NOAH, IWA:NE is pleased to bring in two of the top workers of the hottest Japanese promotion at the moment. So at the show in New Jersy - named Blackjack - the team of SUWA and Ricky Marvin will take on Low Ki and Nigel McGuinness. Ironically enough, Low Ki's normal partner, Elix Skipper, is wrestling in NOAH the day before. I am sure Nigel McGuinness will be a good replacement.

As earlier mentioned, a Gauntlet will be held. The participants are in the following order.

1 & 2: Christopher Daniels vs Teddy Hart
3: Jerelle Clark
4: the Messiah
5: AJ Styles
6: Homicide

Whoever wins the 5th and last match will be considered the top contender for the IWA Heavyweight title.

Speaking of which, Samoa Joe will defend his title against Chris Candido. The non-title match at the last show was one of the worst in IWA history.. hopefully they can put on a somewhat better match this time.

Generation Next will defend their tag-team titles for the first time, in a somewhat unusual fashion. They will add Roderick Strong to the mix, facing off with the Border City Patrol. President DeMei has said that whoever gets the pin /submission gets to choose which one of the two other guys he will share the titles with. So if Jack Evans pins someone... Jason Cross may even lose the title! This could make for some interesting scenes..

Also scheduled to appear: Buck Quartermain, the Briscoes, Havana Pitbulls, D-Ray 3000, Mikey Batts, DJ Hyde and the Carnage Crew.
CarlzillaPosted on 03/09/05 at 13:41:39

Sounds good. I take it you saw them on that NOAH show you picked up? I'll be looking forward to seeing who else you bring in.
CarlzillaPosted on 03/09/05 at 13:45:47

Oh and give Messiah a win for god sakes...he's the freakin' man.
rey619Posted on 03/09/05 at 15:25:27

Yeah... Marvin impressed me with his speed and agility while still being able to keep up with the more powerful Japanese... and the Messiah is being pushed quite high actually... the only heel at 100.. but being the monster export he is, I predict Homicide will win the Gauntlet. That being said, I am tweaking energy regeneration to 100... I want to have someone feel the 'Mark Jindrak effect' as well  ;D
