*NEW CIRCUIT* - Critic of the Dawn's Ruleset

VertigoPosted on 03/04/05 at 23:17:45

Independant wrestling superstar Matt Stryker has announced his plans to open his very own independant organization within the next couple months. As a wrestler that has been all over the globe and worked with many of the big names in professional wrestling, Stryker now believes he has the right connections and the right mind to run a successful promotion.

A resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matt Stryker is simply calling his promotion Cincinnati Pro. He has plans to run shows throughout the Cincinnati area, including Northern Kentucky and Indiana. This, however, has caused a little beef with other local wrestling promotions, namely the Northern Wrestling Federation, which also runs shows in the same area. "Renegade" promotions such as IWI and QCW have publicly expressed their discontent with Stryker's plans while Buckeye Pro Wrestling and Heartland Wrestling Association have embraced the idea.

As of press time, Stryker was quoted saying "I have no interest in raiding other local promotions of talent or fans, I am just providing an alternative."

Stryker has not announced any official names, but has hinted to just a few. "I have been in talks to many of the guys who work the independant scene around the country, one is a local, and they have expressed interest in working for me to help me get this thing off the ground. Stars from the other side of the world will be given some exposure on this side of the country, and some will get re-exposure. Also, a couple of Ultimate Fighters - one who has an extended history in professional wrestling and the other who is looking to begin a new career as a professional wrestler."

Be on the lookout for an official roster listing and show dates shortly.

When can we expect to see a roster?

The official roster for Cincinnati Pro has been released! Here is the information we have recieved...

Matt Stryker is the man responsible for starting Cincinnati Pro and is the one financially backing the promotion. He will be in charge of booking the venues and any sort of advertisement. Also, since he has decided to be an active competitor in Cincinnati Pro, he has appointed a C.E.O. by the name of Russ Myers who will be in charge of unbiasedly maintaining order within the promotion.

A man who is no stranger to owning and opperating his own promotion, fellow HWA-alumni graduate of Matt Stryker, Shark Boy was the first name added to the roster. While Shark Boy will still be an intergral part of opperating BPW, which runs shows just north of where Cincinnati Pro is, he will uphold his word to Stryker and help CP get off the ground. Another local name, originally hailing from Dayton, Ohio, Chris Hero will be a part of CP. A huge name on the independant circuit as well as Chikara Pro's head trainer, Hero should fit in nicely here.

A former WWF Tag Team Champion and formerly one-half of The Rockers, Marty Jannetty looks to get his career back on track and remake a name for himself. Also no strangers to WWF Tag Team gold, Mosh & Thrasher, the Headbangers, will add some flavor to the CP Tag Team division.

A Tough Enough finalist and Harvard graduate, Christopher Nowinski never really had a chance to shine in the ranks of the WWE, but he gets another opportunity to show what he is made of.

Another man who is no newcomer to reality television, Chris Leben will find out what he is really made of here in CP. A contestant on the nationally syndicated SpikeTV program, The Ultimate Fighter, the country watched as Leben's aggressive temper led him into trouble and eventually elimination. Admitting himself into a SoCal wrestling training facility immediatly following the show, he will now find out if he has what it takes to be a professional wrestler.

Speaking of ultimate fighters, former PRIDE Fighting Championship Fighter and a star on the puroresu independant scene, Alexander Otsuka, will bring his hard hitting style to America and to CP. He is not the only wrestler making the journey from the orient as Jinsei Shinzaki, better known to U.S. wrestling fans as Hakushi, and his partner Hayabusa have also agreed to compete in CP. Hayabusa has just come off an extremely long and difficult rehabilition after suffering a severe broken neck. Originally told he would never wrestle again, let alone ever walk again, Hayabusa will attempt a MIRACLE in returning to the ring.

Both Mike Awesome and Sean O'Haire have been to the big time, but have fallen short every time. While attaining mild success in both WWE and WCW, neither have really reached the peak of their potential. And while some could argue the success Awesome has had in Japan and his short reign as ECW Champion, Awesome still feels he has something to prove here in the states.

Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell, collectively known as Vicious and Delicious, will try to recapture the magic they feel they were never given the opportunity to display in WCW as a tag team. Another tag team, as serious as they may or may not be about professional wrestling, the Insane Clown Posse will bring whatever it is they do bring to the ring with them.

Rounding out the roster are El Dandy, best known for his stint in WCW, Jamie Knoble, best known for his trailer-park trash ways in WWE, Mark Henry, best known for his relationship with Mae Young, and John Kronus, best known for being one-half of the successful ECW tag team the Eliminators.

sounding cool i'm sure you'll make the critic proud.
americamamushiPosted on 03/05/05 at 07:27:34

Interesting roster.  The only REAL discrepancy I have with your roster is the inclusion of ICP.

I like seeing El Dandy.  Hopefully he won't fall into his WCW roll of "Jobber."  He's actually had something like 14 title reigns and is in much better standing than when with WCW.  I dunno, I always felt like el rudo de los ojos verdes got a bad rap in America.  Looking forward to the first card.
VertigoPosted on 03/05/05 at 07:31:39

I understand where you're coming from with the ICP thing. I chose my roster at random with a few exceptions... so I just plan on running with what I have.

Yes, I recall seeing a brutal and bloody 2/3 Falls Match involving El Dandy from Mexico. He was always very enjoyable, even if he was a jobber.

Yeah, I like doing that a lot too.  In fact I'm running a circuit on CotD's rules at the moment too while waiting for my DCW Writer's block to pass (just real barebones since it's not being posted) with a random roster.

Was it recent?  And against Heavy Metal maybe?  I think it was a dog collar match I saw between the two that was really bloody.  Oh and saying it's 2/3 falls doesn't help pick out the match if it was from mexico.  Just about all lucha libre matches are 2/3 falls ;)
VertigoPosted on 03/05/05 at 08:19:22

Ah yes, the 2/3 Falls Lucha rules - I had forgotten.

No, not recent. I think it was actually in 1996 or 1998 - because it was on a Comp. Tape I have.
rey619Posted on 03/05/05 at 13:38:19

Ah.. yet another "competitor" using Critic's rulesheet  ;D

Good luck man, your roster seems mostly fine to me (hurray for Shark Boy, Hero, Knoble and O'Haire), but I guess since your using random rosters you're not too happy about all of them? Eh? I know I wasn't to happy when Goldust and nWo Sting showed up...
VertigoPosted on 03/05/05 at 13:45:10

Well, I'm happy with them all. Just some not as much as others. At least I didn't end up with Nailz. Jeez... that guy is the pits.
meetzorakPosted on 03/05/05 at 18:37:22

don't worry everytime i do a random roster i and up with a bunch of puro wrestlers i never heard of and Viscera. EWWW Viscera.

The first card, appropriately named First Encounter, has been announced!! The date is set for Friday, May 13. Bell time will be 8 p.m. The show will be held in the Hamilton High School gymnasium in Hamilton, OH. What a lineup of matches we have!

Chris Hero, Hayabusa, and Alexander Otsuka will face each other in the evening's main event with Triple Threat rules! This one should be a dandy!

Speaking of dandy, El Dandy has showed a considerable amount of interest in becoming Chris Leben's first challenger in professional wrestling. Therefore, in Leben's debut match he will face a mexican legend... El Dandy!

Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton have been laying claim that it will only be a matter of time before they are the top names in Cincinnati Pro. They've said numerous times that the wrestlers will pose no threat and that they're going to show Matt Stryker who is the real boss. So Matt Stryker has chosen Shark Boy as hit partner to attempt to "shut those guys up." As an added bonus, CEO Russ Myers has announced a special guest referee for the matchup! Who is it? We're not sure as of right now, but Myers has stated he is the best person to keep everyone in line.

As an added special attraction match, NWA:TNA's Abyss and Jeff Hardy will be brought in to face each other in none other than a Ladder Match! This will be the big rematch from NWA:TNA's pay-per-view, Against All Odds, and hanging high above the ring will be a substantial amount of money that one of the two wrestlers will leave with.

Other matches to watch for, Christopher Nowinski is sure to have his hands full against Jinsei Shinzaki; Marty Jannetty will make every attempt to outmaneuver the very big and very agile Mike Awesome; Jamie Noble and Sean O'Haire in what could turn out to be the best match of the show; and two agile big guys, John Kronus and Mark Henry will go one-on-one! All of this coming to you Friday, May 13, 8pm, Hamilton High School gymnasium!!!!
