IWA:NE August 10th -  Hershey Streetfight

rey619Posted on 03/03/05 at 17:08:33

The date is August 10th - 2005, the place is Hershey, Pennsylvania, and IWA:NE is proud to present a tag-team tournament here tonight to crown the first tag-team champions. But first, a pre-taped video from "the Notorious 187" Homicide.

Homicide: "Last month, Teddy Hart left me battered and bloodied on the outside of the ring. I had to spend a night in hospital. I had 12 stitches to my forehead *points to his forehead*. Did you think that would scare me off, Hart? Naw, you see, I have suffered worse than this, I have been shot, stabbed and hit by a car. So if you think your pretty boy antics would scare me away, you got another thing coming. So tonight, pretty boy Teddy Hart. It's gonna be you and me... in a Streetfight. Falls count anywhere, anything is legal. And I won't stop, until you, pretty boy, is down and out."

Another video-taped segment shows Hart's response.
"Homicide? Yes, I did snap last month. I am sick and tired of having you breathing down my neck like you didn't have anything else to do. I came here to go for the gold, for the glory. In my mind, last month was the final decider for us. But as far as I am concerned, we can continue fighting for as long as it takes. Do you really think I worry about a streetfight? I was trained in Stu Hart's dungeon. I know all the tricks in the book. I can match every move you do, and then step it up a notch. If its blood, gore and carnage you want, then you got it. Tonight, I will drag you out on the streets if need be, and f**cking pin you on the sidewalk, right here in Hershey, Pennsylvania!

Match 1 - the Briscoes vs the Outkast Killahz

Interesting words exchanged there by Homicide and Teddy Hart, but let's kick off this show with the tag-team tournament. First up, one of the favorite teams, the Briscoes, faced an outsider team in Outkast Killahz.

Good old-fashioned tag-team match that went a little too short to really make an impact. the Briscoes knew that if they were to win this tournament, they had to stay reasonably fresh. Therefore they tried to put away the Killahz as early as possible, in which they succeeded.

The Briscoe Brothers (Mark and Jay) defeated the Outkast Killahz (Oman Tortuga and Diablo Santiago) when Mark Briscoe pinned Santiago with the Roaring Elbow in 04:31
Rating: **3/4

After the match, the Killahz were bickering among themselves in the ring when President DeMei appeared in the entryway.

DeMei: "Well, that was quite a squash if I may say so. If I'm not mistaken, your contracts are coming up, right? At the same time, I am in constant contact with a few top notch tag-teams. That means the tag-team division is going to be very crowded. Which again, unfortunately for you, means that I have to get rid of the deadweight. So, Omar and Diablo. Goodbye!"

Wow, just like that, President DeMei fired the Outkast Killahz.. we now go backstage to the Purist's locker room.

*Nigel McGuinness is stretching and preparing for their match when Chris Benoit walks up to him, pretty close to his face*

"Listen, Nigel. Last week you embarrassed me when we lost to two buffoons like Goldust and fake Sting. I am going back to WWE soon. I don't need this. I need momentum. I need to win this tournament tonight."

"What you need, Sir, is to take it easy. Besides, I was not the one getting pinned" *Nigel turns away, Benoit is fuming*

"Just get the job done OK?" *Benoit walks out*

Match 2 - Thundercats (Jyushin Lyger & Tiger Mask IV) vs the Purists (Chris Benoit & Nigel McGuinness

A great ovation for Lyger and Tiger Mask. The US fans hadn't seen Lyger since he made some appearances for RoH last November, and even though McGuinness was a fan favorite, Lyger was heavily cheered here tonight.

Great chain wrestling in the opening by Benoit and Lyger, both men receiving applause. McGuinness and Lyger trade stiff chops, as Benoit retrieves a fire extinguisher from under the ring. The crowd cheers as Nigel is handed the fire extinguisher, certainly remembering what Nigel did with it last month. He refused to use it however, eliciting a string of curses from Benoit. Despite their obvious problems, Benoit and McGuinnes worked well together as a team, dishing out plenty of double moves and almost putting the Japanese stars out of the tournament several times. It's good to see that these men can put away their differences to get a good match going. The match went back and forth, but the veterans from Japan turned the momentum late in the match, putting Benoit away with a running Lyger bomb to advance in the tournament. Whether they have any chance of getting to the finals is another thing, as this match took its toll.

Rating:***3/4

After the match, Benoit and McGuinness were sitting in separate corners, when suddenly Benoit grabbed a mic.
"You know what.. as long as I have been here.. I have been losing. I lost to Jimmy Jacobs, I lost to the Painted Protagonists.. and now I lost again! I am not going back to WWE without a win, god damnint. So that is why I now will fight one guy I am 100% certain to beat. And that is you... Nigel McGuinness... so get up stupid Eurotrash and fight!"

Match 3 - Chris Benoit vs Nigel McGuinness

This match was nothing but a short, brawling street-fight where Benoit and McGuinness smashed each other with trashcans, bats and chairs. In fact, as far from "Purist" as possible. McGuinness picks up the win after a Guvnor's Crumpet on a trash can.

Match 4 - Eddie Guerrero & Slash Venom vs Carnage Crew

An odd selection for a partner, but Eddie and Slash seemed to work well enough together in this one. It was obvious that Slash had picked up a few pointers, distracting the ref long enough for Eddie to low-blow HC Loc and then nailing him with Loc's own weapon, a road sign. The hardcore specialists tried to move the battle out of the ring, but Eddie and Slash knew they had the advantage in a normal setting, and didn't take the bait.
At the end of the match, DeVito and Loc managed to isolate Slash inside the ring, so Eddie went and retrieved a chair, tossing it to Loc on the outside. The ref only saw Loc standing there with a chair, and went to curse him out. Eddie took advantage of this by hitting a tornado DDT on DeVito for the pin.

Match 5 - Generation Next (Cross & Evans w/Francine) vs The Spanish Announce Team (Joel & Jose Maximo)

the Spanish Announce Team were on their way to the ring when they were brutally assaulted by Goldust and nWo Sting. The fake Sting and the eccentric Goldust were screaming on top of their lungs that they deserved a spot in the tournament, and if they didn't receive one, they should take one. They beat the Maximo's to a bloody mess before entering the ring. The bell never rung, but DeMei instead came out, angry as hell.

DeMei: "Well, this is really nice. I work my ass of trying to put together a nice tag team tournament, and you two clowns manage to ruin it all. You think you will take their place? Hell, no. Generation Next will receive a bye into the semi-finals. And as far as you are concerned... the first one to get out of the ring is fired!"

*Goldust and nWo Sting didn't seem to quite catch what DeMei was saying, trying to get out of the ring as quickly as possible. Goldust held back nWo Sting in an awkward position, forcing nWo Sting to kick back with a low blow. nWo Sting rolled out of the ring and laughed at Goldust before he realized what DeMei actually had said. nWo Sting screamed and thrashed about as security forcefully removed him from the building*

Match 6 - the Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay) vs Thundercats (Jyushin Lyger & Tiger Mask IV

Briscoes were almost completely rested after their somewhat easy match, while the Thundercats were still reeling from their grueling match with the Purists. the Briscoes had the advantage and used it wisely as Mark connected with yet another Roaring Elbow to send the Briscoes to the finals!

Rating: **1/4

Footage is shown from President DeMei's office, where he finalizing the deal with "Empire Saint" Pat Kenney.

DeMei: "It's great to have you on board Pat. With your experience, IWA will just continue to grow.

Kenney. "I'm just glad for the opportunity. Bookings are few and far between these days, and I don't get a lot of exposure on TNA these days.

DeMei: "Yeah, I heard they brought in Goldberg and Mark Henry.. they are really desperate.

*AJ Styles barges in the door*

Styles: "OK, listen to me DeMei, next month.."

DeMei: "Hey, you just can't come in here uninvited."
*Kenney gets up*
Kenney: "Relax AJ, can't you see we're having a meeting here."

AJ: "AJ? AJ? Who the hell told you that you could call me AJ? Friggin' old-timer."

*AJ punches Kenney repeatedly, obviously still upset from his title match loss last week. The two fight throughout DeMei's office, wrecking everything in sight before Styles bodyslams Kenney through a table. AJ then turns around to DeMei again, only to found out that the President has wisely escaped*

Match 7 - Eddie Guerrero & Slash Venom vs Generation Next (Jack Evans & Jason Cross)

Evans & Cross were of course completely rested, as this was the first match they fought this evening. And with Francine in their corner, Gen Next really got an advantage. However, you can't cheat a cheater, and when Francine jumped up on the apron to eye gouge Eddie, Latino Heat ducked, pulled Francine's skirt down and hoisted her on top of his shoulders. He then used her in combination with an airplane spin to knock down Evans, Cross, and ufortunately the ref. Seeing that they were both down, Eddie tried to revive the ref. Slash Venom wasn't quite as experienced a cheater as Eddie, and distracted himself by helping Francine put her skirt on. This gave Jack the opportunity to roll up Eddie for the win.

Generation Next (J.Evans and J.Cross) defeated Eddie Guerrero & Slash Venom when Evans pinned Guerrero with a roll-up in 12:30
Rating: ***1/4

After the match, Eddie said goodbye to the fans, who sang "Please come back" to Eddie (and maybe Slash?) as they stood in the ring.

This means it has boiled down to the Briscoes and Generation Next. Quite fitting, since these two teams have been feuding since the beginning here in IWA.

Match 8 - Randy Orton vs Samoa Joe for the IWA Heavyweight Title

Randy Orton walked out to loud jeers. The self-proclaimed Legend Killer took the microphone.

Randy: "Well, fortunately for me, it seems that WWE has recalled all of their wrestlers from next month on. That means I don't need to show up at crappy arenas such as this. It also means, that after I beat Samoa Joe 1..2..3 in the ring, I will bring your worthless belt with me to Monday Night Raw, where I will put it in a trashcan on Live TV. So bring out this.. Samoa Joe character.. and let's get this rolling."

Samoa Joe had no intention of letting Randy Orton take his title and bury it on some Sports Entertainment show. The big Samoan attacked with a flurry of blows on Orton in the opening, but had to take a breather when Orton hit a couple of fierce uppercuts back at him. Orton then flew out of the ring to nail Joe, brawling with the champion on the outside for a while. Joe was able to deck Orton with a lariat, when all of a sudden, a fan spat in Joe's face. The fan was quickly hoisted ringside, where it was revealed that it was in fact Kevin Steen! Joe started to pound on "Mr Wrestling", when Scott D'Amore appeared in the entryway, sending Petey Williams down to deal with Joe. D'Amore must have a screw loose, because Joe effectively took out Williams as well with a stiff Yakuza kick. However, all this alllowed Orton to nail Joe from behind, sending him into the ringpost. Orton dragged Joe into the ring where he was almost DQ'ed for a boot choke. Orton the bodyslammed Joe, setting up the RKO. Instead, Joe pushed Orton into the ropes, catching him on the way back with the Island Driver to retain.

As Orton slowly got up, the crowd chanted "Nah nah nah  nah.. nah nah nah nah.. hey heeeyy.. goodbye," as Orton left almost in tears.

Rating: ***1/2
(Samoa Joe retained the IWA Heavyweight Title)

Match 9 - B-Boy vs Scoot Andrews

Guest appearances from both these men here tonight. No word as of yet if any of these wrestlers will be wrestling on a more permanent basis in IWA, but both put on a great match.

B-Boy pinned Scoot Andrews with the Cash Flow in 13:10
Rating: ***3/4

We go to the back, where Cindy Strappen is standing by with "the Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, who recently signed an 18 month contract with IWA.

Cindy: "Christopher Daniels, what are your goals here in IWA?"

CD: "My goal? Simple. My goal is to spread the gospel of the Fallen Angel. To put on some of the best matches ever seen. And to strap gold around my waist. Simple as that."

*Petey Williams comes over and cuts into Daniels' promo*

Petey: "Hey baby, why don't you interview a real champion, huh? Did you just see what my man Kevin Steen did out there? He spat in the champion's face. Now how about that?"

Cindy: "Well.. I.. "

Christopher: "It seemed like all you two managed to accomplish was to make fools out of yourself."

Petey: "Oh yeah? You know what Daniels? You don't know who you're dealing with, do you? We are the Border City Patrol. We are going to take care of IWA from now on, ensuring that the right persons win, and that the wrong persons not only lose, but are kept out of the promotion all together. We believe that if the wrong workers are brought in, IWA will lose face.. and.."

Christopher: "The gospel of the Fallen Angel specifically says that whoever you are, you will get your chance to prove yourself. "

*Petey Williams spits in Daniels' face*

"I really don't like people interrupting me. You're not worth my time, Daniels."

*Williams walks away as Daniels is wiping Williams' spit off his face*

Cindy: "So.. what are you going to do about this?"

Daniels: "The gospel of the Fallen Angel teaches patience and self-control. I could have taken out Williams now if I had wanted. His time will come. That's the gospel of the Fallen Angel!"

Match 10 - Teddy Hart vs Homicide in a StreetFight

This really became a violent streetfight, as the feuding men started out in the back, slowly moving towards the ring while treating each other to chair shots and ramming each other into the walls. They barely touched the ring, before Homicide rolled out and headed into the crowd, a bleeding Teddy Hart hot in pursuit. Hart was able to take down Homicide with repeated shots to the back with a singapore cane. He then climbed up a stair and tried to execute the Hart Attack on the concrete floor, but a hooded fan pulled Homicide away, causing Hart to crash to the floor! The fan pulled away the hood, revealing himself as the Messiah! If anyone thought his allegiance lay with Homicide, they were wrong, as the Messiah busted him open with a cane shot to the forehead. the Messiah then arranged a table on the floor, and spread thumbtacks underneath it before he sat down to watch the rest of the match. Both men slowly staggered to their feet, but it was Homicide who picked up Hart and powerbombed him through the tables and unto the thumbtacks for the pin in what was the match of the night, and probably the bloodiest and most violent match of IWA history.

Match 11 - The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay vs Generation Next (Jason Cross & Jack Evans) for the IWA Tag Team Titles

Before the match, President DeMei came out and announced that Francine would be banned from ringside in this match. Evans and Cross were not to pleased, so the Briscoes got the upper hand early on. Brilliant double moves were followed up by near falls, and Evans grew quite frustrated on the apron. Evans sneak-tagged himself in when the ref had his back turned, hitting several flips on Jay before he over-flipped and missed badly. Mark took advantage of this by hitting his Roaring elbow, the move that had provided them with this spot in the first place. The ref counted 1...2... before Cross pulled him out of the ring to prevent the pin. The ref teased disqualifying Cross. As he turned his back to the ring, Roderick Strong!! came running down, hitting Jay on the outside with a chair, then going in and nailing Mark with one of his patented backbreakers before rolling out of the ring. Jack Evans draped an arm across Mark to win the tag-team titles! It seems that Roderick Strong has returned to Generation Next!

Briscoes go over the Killahz with ease, which results in Tortuga and Santiago being handed pink slips right in the middle of the ring.  The right guys went over, but man, President DeMei is a real dick!

Liger and Tiger!  Woo!  Poor Benoit and McGuinness just can't seem to get along, and that ultimately costs them the match.  Shame.  I think they'd work well together in real life.  The Thundercats (which is the best name in the history of tag team wrestling) walk away with the victory.  But Benoit isn't through... and McGuinness lays him out.  Looks like there may only be room for one technical master in IWA:NE.

Guerrero and Slash Venom kick the everloving crap out of Carnage Crew, and Eddie gets the win by lying, cheating, and stealing.  Heh.  I love that gimmick.  Slash Venom is an interesting partner for Guerrero, by the way.  I like it.

SAT and Generation Next go to a no contest because the Painted Protagonists interfere!  And nWo Sting gets handed a pink slip for his role in all of that, and because he and Goldust are too stupid to LISTEN.  Of course, if they HAD listened, the show would have sucked a whole lot as they just sort of sat around.  Once again, President DeMei is a real dick to the heels. ;D

Briscoe Brothers over the Thundercats.  That was a little dissappointing to me, but really, I must say that the Briscoes deserve to hold a prominent position in the tag team division, so I can't complain all that much.  By the way, it's my opinion that the stats of the Briscoes are a bit low by default.  The workrate scores probably deserve about a 5 point bump, and Mark's 50 charisma is... really really low.

GeNext over Guerrero and Slash Venom.  Sounds good to me.  You're obviously building them up as your top stable, so a victory over someone as credible as Eddie Guerrero will help quite a bit with this.

Joe retains against uberheel Randy Orton, who appears to be on his way out, which is a shame.  I was really digging his Indie-killer gimmick, and he would have made a champion with unreal amounts of heat, I think.  Still, I certainly can't complain about Joe as champion, because he's probably the most credible guy on the indy scene at the moment due to his prolonged Jesus push in ROH.

B-Boy and Scoot Andrews have themselves a nice little match - I think it was good enough that you should consider hiring one of them the next time you have a chance.  It's hard to argue with ***3/4, after all.

Daniels!  Woo!  Great fit for this circuit.

Homicide totally pwns Teddy Hart in their streetfight, as it should be.  Not quite sure what Messiah was doing interfering against both men in this match, but I can't wait to find out.

Finally, Generation Next are your first tag team champions.  It was a little bit predictable, but it was not dissappointing by any means.  They should be excellent champions, and I think that the Briscoes should prove excellent foils for them in the tag team division.  Can't wait to see where things go from here.

Good stuff.  Keep it up.

As you might have understood.. this was the card I ran when all my database problems occurred.. it was a pain just to get through it.. I mostly just skipped to the finish and made up stuff on the way.. just too plain stupid for me when Eddie Guerrero spears peoples, no-sells and then Jackhammers them into oblivion  :P

The WWE guys are on the way out simply because, well I almost lost interest in my own circuit before I decided that it should only be indy guys... and TNA... so that is why. I don't mind any of the WWE wrestlers that've been here, but I just felt for not seeing any of them after running a year-long WWE game (both RAW & Smackdown)

I also did quite a lot of booking with this card (which I usually don't).. Orton losing for one thing (since he is leaving).. also... Tortuga and Jose didn't sign a new contract, so I had to book  the Briscoes and Gen Next.. which ultimately became the finals that I hoped for. After all, they have been feuding for six months now.
I also booked McGuinnes/Benoit tag match to set up the singles match (which I didn't book).

Since your rulesheets specified something like 36 workers on the next show, be ready to see some new faces (by which I mean not faces as in the opposite of heel)  ;D

And no.. Scott D'Amore will not create an IWA version of Team Canada, running around with a hockey stick.

DeMei has been quite passive as of late, but those guys were leaving anyway so I thought it appropriate to give the fans some respect for DeMei. In addition I recently saw CZW Cage of Death VI, so he is loosely modelled on Zandig's treatment of the heels (DeMei does not take part in barbed-wire matches though)

Happy to hear your feedback Critic, but I guess you're watching all the circuits using your rulesheets.. must be quite exciting to see what everyone does with them, huh?

Oh, so I won't forget... CarlZilla must be credited for Thundercats... it was his innovation as he teamed up those two with that name for his NWJ circuit in the GWA Umbrella Fed...

Just a note about the ruleset - the wrestler limit will occasionally end up being more than the number of wrestlers you have under contract.  Generally, the way it's worded is you should have at least the number working if it's under 30, and up to the number if it's 30 or greater.  You don't actually have to hire until you can match the number, although you can do so if you wish.  People hired in that manner should probably get shortterm contracts unless you have a can't miss feud in mind, however.

And yes, it is quite spiffy seeing other people's circuits based on my rules.  I'm enjoying it quite a bit. ;D

IWA News Report - August 29th:

The IWA management has confirmed the next two dates for IWA : NE. Sunday September 25th in Uncasville, Connecticut, and Saturday October 22th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

According to President DeMei, he isn't too bummed out about the fact that the WWE stars will be leaving, as they have helped put IWA on the map. Even more so, the money the likes of Orton, Benoit, Guerrero and even Rhyno were paid can basically pay for at least a dozen top indy talent, which is what DeMei has done for the next show, which will be a grand show the likes never seen before here in IWA.

- The SAT's will not be teaming up any time soon, as Jose Maximo suffered a severe back injury in the blatant attack from Goldust and nWo Sting. Joel Maximo has therefore challenged the eccentric Goldust to a match at the next show, aptly called 'Resurrection'

- As reported earlier, DeMei has announced major tag-team signings, and will be showing them off in a 4-corner match. The only teams confirmed for that show is Carnage Crew and Sabian/DJ Hyde, but it is rumored that Homicide has been lobbying for the Havana Pitbulls, so don't be suprised to see Reyes and Romero there.

- Generation Next won the tag-team titles earlier this month, but the Briscoes have not given up on their feud. They have challenged Generation Next to a 2 vs 3 handicap match. President DeMei refused this match, telling the Briscoes that they can bring in a third partner of their choice.

- Tiger Mask IV will return to IWA for a high-flying match with Jerelle Clark!

- Pat Kenney was enraged at AJ Styles for being slammed through a table last month, and he makes his in-ring debut against the Phenomenal one in a Texas Death Match!

- Many have asked why the Messiah interfered in the brutal streetfight between Teddy Hart and Homicide last month. Will we get more answers next month? And maybe as important, will Hart and Homicide continue their feud?

- Chris Benoit return to IWA (probably for the last time), to challenge Nigel McGuinness to a rematch. Will the Crippler leave IWA without a win?

Also scheduled to appear: Christopher Daniels, Kevin Steen, Petey Williams, Chris Candido, John Walters and of course, the IWA Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe!

Sorry for stealing them from you Carl  ;D
But they did do a good job in GWA, and I needed a foreign tag team...
