IWA: NE - Crowning of a Champion - June 8th 2005

rey619Posted on 02/22/05 at 19:17:13

Well, it's a spectacular evening here in Philadelphia, as IWA:NE will crown their very first Heavyweight Champion! AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Eddie Guerrero and nWo Sting will do battle in a 4-corner elimination match to find the worthy winner, but let's get right to the ring, where Nigel McGuinness is awaiting his opponent - an ex-WWE star!

Match 1 - Nigel McGuinness vs Goldust

A shocked McGuinness had to watch Goldust's elaborate entrance, and then decided to say some words to the fans before the match.

Nigel: Look, I am not the one to whine and complaing about things. I did not complain about being left out of the Heavyweight Tournament, even though I did win the prestigious four-corner match, defeating Batts, Gibson and Samoa Joe, all entrants in the tournament. But when I heard that an old-never-has-been like nWo Sting had been chosen before me, and now show up to face... this (makes mocking gestures towards Goldust), I have to ask you fans one thing. Do you come here to watch WRESTLING? *loud pop* ... or do you come here to watch CLOWNS with MAKE-UP?! *loud boos*"

McGuinness nods in appreciation, as Goldust starts to grab Nigel's ass. McGuinness turns around with some hard rights to start off this match.

Even though he is a technical wrestler, McGuinness resorted to brawling techniques in order to vent his anger and frustration at Goldust. The golden one answered with some of his own, before they both tumbled to the outside, accidentally taking with them Nigel's wife, Tina in the process! Tina looked like she was hurt, and since Nigel was being pummelled by Goldust, the ref jumped out and tried to get Tina back onto her feet. This allowed someone from the back to run in and help Goldust take care of McGuinness... none other than nWo Sting! Goldust held Nigel stuck against the ringpost as nWo Sting jumped in with the Stinger Splash. Goldust then executed the Shock Treatment on the concrete. As nWo Sting persuaded the ref to enter the ring again, Goldust performed another Shock Treatment to pin McGuinness.

After the match, Goldust retrieved some make-up from his dress, and while nWo Sting held him down, Goldust applied a thick layer of make-up on the disgusted McGuinness. The two painted veterans then left the arena holding their hands high in the air (except Goldusts, who were trying to feel up nWo Sting!!)

Jimmy Jacobs approaches president DeMei backstage.

JJ: Hey man, do you know if that Sinn guy is going to be here tonight?

DeMei: I have no idea. What is your beef with him anyway?

JJ: It's none of your concern, but if you do see him, have security evict him.

DeMei: Hey, if he pays for his ticket, he is as welcome here as any other fan.

DeMei walks away from a furious Jacobs.

Match 2 - Batts & Clark vs Carnage Crew

The tag-team division is heating up, and all the teams want to be involved in next months tag-team tournament. A win here tonight would most definetely ensure a spot.

Despite their sizes, DeVito and Loc are high fliers as well, proving it in the early goings with moonsaults on their smaller opponents. Mikey Batts was easy pickings for AJ Styles last month, and wanted to prove he was not a joke, sending Loc to the floor with a powerful superkick.
Carnage Crew eventually pulled out some props to help them, and I swear that a hubcap lying somewhere in Philly now has a perfect mold of Mikey's skull on it! Still Batts & Clark fought on, with Clark slowly wearing down the big men with armbars and hammerlocks, and then making the pin with a moonsault. Batts & Clark quickly slid under the ropes as Carnage Crew went after them with hubcaps and broomsticks, enraged over the loss.

Match 3 - Homicide & Chris Candido vs Teddy Hart & CM Punk

Yet another tag-team match, as the CZW feud between Hart and "the Notorious 187" is revived here in IWA. Homicide's interference help Candido defeat Hart last month in the tournament, and when Hart was looking for a partner, CM Punk willingly volunteered.

Disaster almost struck when Punk missed an insane dive in the early goings, forcing Hart to fight both Candido and Homicide while doctors attended to the bloody Punk.
Homicide and Candido double teamed Hart for a lengthy time, before Punk threw away the doctors and entered the ring as well, choking Candido. The ref was about to call the match a no-contest, when President DeMei ran out and whispered something to the ref. DeMei then announced that this match would continue in Texas Tornado style! Unable to get any rest was something to be taken account for, and Punk's blood loss was taken advantage off when Candido hit him with a dragon suplex, followed up by the Cop Killa for the win. Hart was just a second away from breaking it up, but Homicide and Candido continued their assault on Hart, busting him open with yet another Cop Killa.

Match 4 - Jay Briscoe vs Jimmy Jacobs

Jacobs looked nervous today as well, as he scanned the crowd for the mysterious Sinn. Jay, in his first singles match here in IWA, was able to take advantage of this in the beginning, hitting Jacobs with several lariats. As Jacobs concluded that Sinn was indeed not present, he was able to focus on the match, and gained the upper hand with a series of brilliant moves. Just when Jacobs was about to go for the Contra Code, Sinn appeared on the apron, causing Jay to get out of the move. Jacobs tries to leave the ring, and the ref runs after him trying to get him back inside the ring. Jay Briscoe then confronts Sinn, causing Sinn to chokeslam Briscoe in the middle of the ring. Seeing this, Jacobs quickly returns to the ring and executes another Contra Code to win the match.

JJ: Well.. Sinn.. I really likes it when a plan comes to fruition, right? I mean, everyone was wondering what this big secret was, right? Why is this Goth guy showing up and harassing Huss Jacobs, right? Well, now you know. Because of all the competetivness and jealousy in and around the IWA locker room, I thought that something must be done to get some focus and attention to what I'm doing, to who I am. So when I was left out of show # 2, I realized that, I didn't want to be left out anymore. What better way to ensure myself spots on future shows than to keep the fans spinning with excitement from this mystery guy, right? (Jacobs is openly laughing at the fans now, while the fans boo him)

(Jacobs extends his hands at Sinn)
Jacobs: So now, Sinn.. you can just go back to whatever backwater Indy fed you were working at, and don't thank me for letting you watch these tremendous matches of mine for free. I'll even give you an autograph later if you want one.

Sinn (grabbing Jacobs as he is leaving) That is not what we agreed upon. You told me that if I helped you, you would issue a challenge to me, so that I could get a foot inside the door, so to speak.

Jacobs: Well, yeah, plans have changed dude, I am not going to face you. You don't stand a chance against a HUSS like me!

Jacobs turns around again, but Sinn spins him around and nails him with a chokeslam!

Sinn: No way Jacobs! Next month, you and me!

Match 5 - DJ Hyde & Necro Butcher vs Outkast Killahz - Hardcore Rules

Apparently, Jimmy Rave called two hours before the show and told DeMei that he didn't want to do the risky match after all, forcing DeMei to humbly ask DJ Hyde to take his place, practically destroying any point in doing this match (since Rave wanted revenge on the Killahz).
Anyway, Butcher had to prove he belonged in the company after the abysmal showing last time, and he and Hyde worked adequately well as a team in this hardcore bout. A great number of CZW fans had come in order to see this particular match, and they were not disappointed when Butcher brawled with the Killahz on the outside, using a loose piece of the guard rail as an unmerciful weapon. Still, the match never went as hardcore as some fans would have wanted, and the Killahz actually prevailed in yet another horrendous Necro Butcher match...

Match 6 - The Spanish Announce Team & Mark Briscoe vs Generation Next & Sabian

The SATs, Briscoes and Generation Next are all a sure bet for next months tag tournament, but they tonight the tumbled together in six-man tag action. Sabian possibly fought for a place in Generation Next, but quickly had to tag in Evans, as the SAT's ran all over the Chocolate City native. The match soon went outside, as Jack Evans dove out of the ring onto Joel, hitting him with a spinning headscissors and sending him into the guardrail in an insane move. Evans actually looked surprise he didn't kill himself in the trying. It appeared as if this match was also under some quasi-tornado rules, as few legal tags were made in this fast-paced match.
Jose Maximo caught Jason Cross with the Overdrive, but the ref was knocked out after an airplane spin, and no count could be made. This brought all six men into the ring, brawling and battling it out. Briscoe hits several suplexes on Sabian, but when the ref finally wakes up, an Evans enzuigiri breaks it up. Briscoe gets right back up and executes the Cutthroat Suplex on Evans in this classic six-man encounter!

Match 7 - Randy Orton vs Rhyno

Randy Orton hasn't made many friends here in IWA, and even those he pays to be his ally is somehow alienated from him by his actions. Rhyno isn't one to gather a great amount of heat from the crowd, but facing such an unpopular guy like Orton really helped. Just as the match started, Orton called for a time-out, picking up a microphone.

Randy: Rhyno.. old buddy.. listen, I am sorry for last week. I really am. Look, can't we just forget what happened and challenge some indy losers in the back to a tag-team match instead?

Rhyno thought about it for a second before he Gored Orton to the ground, picking him up and planting him to the ground with a power bomb for the quick win.

While Rhyno was celebrating, Orton retrieved the mic, looking quite desperate.

Randy: Wait, wait.. that doesn't count.. we were in a time-out? Remember? I think we should re .. (at this point Rhyno gores Orton again)

Match 8 - 4 Way elimination match for the vacant IWA Heavyweight Title - Samoa Joe vs nWo Sting vs Eddie Guerrero vs AJ Styles

nWo came to the ring last as the fans heavily booed him for his actions against McGuinness earlier today. nWo Sting took a microphone and looked at his three opponents.

nWo: Well, you must think that I am in awe now, right? Here I am, in the ring with former RoH, TNA and WWE champions? Well, you know what? I am NOT impressed at all. Cause you see, while you are all HAS beens.. I am STILL a world champion, having held the UCW Heavyweight belt since January.

(Eddie snaps the mic)

Eddie: Esse.. let me ask you something.. what does UCW stand for anyway? Useless Clown Wrestling? Or.. wait a minute.. Ultimate Crap Wrestling?

AJ: As Shania Twain so eloquently puts it... that don't impress me much...

Samoa: Hey guys, stop talking and let's kick this guy's ass, ok?

The three then ganged up on nWo Sting, laying hard rights and lefts on him until Samoa hoisted him up and put him down with the Island Driver. Styles then took him for a ride in the Styles Clash, before Eddie went up for the Frog Splash. However, this match is about surviving, and AJ Styles took advantage of this, drop-kicking Eddie on his way down. As AJ played for the crowd, Samoa picked him up in a Tombstone. Every man for himself in this match.. that's for sure! As Samoa Joe put Styles in the Guillotine choke, nWo Sting slid out of the ropes and crawled under the ring, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

At the 15th minute mark, nWo was still hiding under the ring, but then Nigel McGuinness came out with a fire extinguisher, flushing out the fake Sting just as Samoa Joe made Eddie Guerrero pass out to the guillotine choke inside! Styles tried to surprise Samoa Joe with a strong offense at this time, but the former RoH champ withstood "the Phenomenal One's" offense and drilled him with the Island Driver. nWo Sting now tried to escape, but was herded back by Nigel McGuinness and the fire extinguisher. nWo Sting managed to mount a serious offense against Joe, showing that his time in Japan had though him several unique submission variants. However, Joe splashed the life out of him and then used the Island Driver again to complete the rout.
Samoa Joe eliminated all his opponents and is the FIRST IWA Heavyweight Champion!

4-Way Elimination Match for the Vacant IWA:NE Heayvweight Title:

Samoa Joe defeated Eddie Guerrero, AJ Styles and nWo Sting:
*Joe beat E.Guerrero via a guillotine choke in 16:18
*Joe beat Styles via the Island Driver in 18:38
*Joe beat nWo Sting via the Island Driver in 25:31
Rating: ****
(Samoa Joe won the IWA:NE Heavyweight Belt)

As President DeMei awarded the belt to Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness, CM Punk, Teddy Hart and Eddie Guerrero got into the ring to celebrate with the champ.
Just seconds later, an enraged AJ Styles ran towards the ring with the fire extinguisher. As he was about to unleash its contents on the champ and the rest of the ring, he discovered to his dismay that McGuinness had emptied all of the contents already. Styles looked terrified as Joe and the others surrounded him. Styles sunk to his knees, begging for mercy. Joe took the mic.

Joe: Come on guys.. leave the cry baby to his own devices.. he is not worth it.

Just like that, the show went off with AJ Styles lying in the middle of the ring, not sure whether he deserved Samoa Joe's mercy or not.

IWA: NE - Newsreport from HQ

* Only hours after the grueling battle for the IWA Heavyweight Title, AJ Styles filed a complaint to the IWA Board that the use of the fire extinguisher blinded him, preventing him from doing what everyone expected him to do, beat Samoa Joe. After first rejecting the complaint, Samoa Joe personally called President DeMei and demanded that his first title defense would be next month, against AJ Styles! This will be at the July 15th show at Reading, Pennsylvania!

* The plans for the tag-team tournament has been rescheduled for August. The reasons for this is unclear, but rumors speculate that President DeMei wishes to include a Japanese tag-team in the tournament, and that the July date would clash with the Puro Tours.

* Nigel McGuinness has demanded a match against, what he calls, "the masked clowns", Goldust and nWo Sting. McGuinness has stated that he will take them on alone if he has to, but DeMei called in a partner of the night for McGuinness.. none other than Chris Benoit! DeMei has understood that Benoit is feeling left out at WWE, being forced to job for Muhammed Hassan on the last two PPV's. No word yet from Titan Towers if Benoit will be released permanently. Will these two purists be able to take care of the Masked Menaces?

* Teddy Hart will finally go one on one with Homicide, in what will certainly be a classic encounter between these two rivals.

* Also scheduled for this show: Generation Next, Outkast Killahz, Briscoe Brothers, CM Punk, James Gibson  and Jerelle Clark

* IWA is also working on getting more WWE superstars in for guest appearances. Christian is a strong rumour, as he hasn't been seen on WWE Tv for quite some time after the prank he pulled involving Christy Hemme and ice cubes.

* So don't miss the July 15th show, tickets are sale online and at the door!
