FuncrusherPlus' Wrestling Universe

FuncrusherPlusPosted on 12/27/04 at 06:02:40

This is an idea using Rick Garrard's old school rule set. I am incorporating old and new wrestlers, and I am also pretending as though the WWF nationwide expansion never took place.

At first, and for the first year (TNM time), the World Wide Wrestling Federation will be the only federation here. After a year, I will add a southern-style federation, again using the old school rules. After that, depending on how things go, I will add more promotions. None of them will share talent. So if someone i under contract to the WWWF, they will not work for another promotion until they leave the WWWF.

To begin, I tried to pick mostly workers that were/are known as primarily WWE workers.

Faces:

Billy Gunn
Bret Hart
Jake Roberts
Jeff Hardy
"Road Dogg" Jesse James
Matt Hardy
Shelton Benjamin
The Undertaker
Tito Santana
Val Venis

Heels:

Christian
Curt Hennig
Edge
Genichiro Tenryu (brought in to have token evil foreign heavyweight)
Triple H
Randy Orton
Rick Martel
Rick Rude
Scott Hall
Ted DiBiase

Triple H is my designated 52-card contract "franchise" worker. All others are working on 26 card contracts. As per the rules, there are only weekly shows right now, no PPVs. This fed, and all future feds, will be completely unbooked with regards to finishes. This is mainly for my personal amusement, so here I go.

Welcome to Saturday Night Main Event!

January 1, Year 1 - Madison Square Garden, New York, New York

Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz battled to a double countout in 0:07:37.
Rating: **

Lots of give-and-take in this one, until about the 7-minute mark. After tossing Matt Hardy out to the floor, Christian laid him out with a brutal Unprettier on the thinly-padded concrete floor. With Matt rendered helpless, Edge had come over only to be clotheslined out of his boots by an irate Jeff Hardy. This degenerated into a brawl outside and everyone was counted out.

Tito Santana pinned Genichiro Tanryu with the Flying Forearm in 0:11:57.
Rating: * 3/4

Curt Hennig & Scott Hall defeated The New Age Outlaws when Hall pinned Gunn after a powerslam in 0:15:30.
Rating: *

Shelton Benjamin pinned Rick Martel after a Superkick in 0:00:53.
Rating: *

This match was over almost before it began. They exchanged a couple of quick moves before Martel put Benjamin down with a vertical suplex. Rick went to hit the ropes, but Benjamin leapt to his feet and planted a superkick out of nowhere, right under Martel's chin! What an impressive debut by the youngster!

Ted DiBiase pinned Bret Hart after a small package in 0:14:35.
Rating: **** 1/4

Look at that rating! What a match from two great technical competitors.

Val Venis pinned Rick Rude after a powerslam in 0:15:18.
Rating: ** 1/2

In a match-up between two venerable ladies men, The Big Valboski comes out victorious.

Strap Match:
Randy Orton pinned Jake Roberts with the RKO in 0:17:46.
Rating: 1/4*

After Orton nearly choked Roberts unconscious outside the ring, he rolled The Snake back in, set him up, and hit him with the RKO for the win.

Triple H made The Undertaker submit to an abdominal stretch in 0:10:41
Rating: 3/4*

In our main event, Helmsley worked on Undertakers back almost from the beginning before locking on an abdominal stretch in the middle of the ring. The Dead Man was unable to hold out and was forced to tap.

Thanks for coming folks! See you next week!

Welcome to Saturday Nights Main Event!

January 8, Year 1 (2005)

Tonight begins our One Night Only tournament to crown the WWWF World Tag Team Champions! All tournament matches will have a thirty minute time limit.

Round One Matchup
Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel defeated the New Age Outlaws when Tenryu pinned Gunn with the Power Bomb 0:18:06
Rating: * 1/4

A somewhat major upset to start off the tournament! The completely make-shift team of Tenryu and Martel knock off the well-established Outlaws.

Round One Matchup
Rick Rude & Ted DiBiase defeated the Hardy Boyz when Rude pinned M. Hardy with the Rude Awakening in 0:11:02
Rating: *** 1/4

Yet another established tag team is bounced from the tournament.

Jim Ross leads us into some footage from earlier today. A limo is shown arriving at the venue before tonight's event. Triple H exits looking dapper in a suit and sunglasses, flanked by an equally well-dressed Randy Orton. As the driver is pulling their luggage out of the trunk, Jake The Snake attacks Orton from out of nowhere, with a flurry of punches. Hunter grabs Roberts from behind and slams him into the still open car door. Just before Orton and Triple H can destroy Jake Roberts, The Undertaker appears out of nowhere and a wild brawl between all four breaks out. Finally, a mixture of venue security and officials pull them all apart.

Round One Matchup
Curt Hennig and Scott Hall defeated Tito Santana and Val Venis when Hall pinned Venis with the Outsider Edge in 0:24:45.
Rating: 3/4*

Val & Tito hung on for quite a while despite being mostly dominated throughout this match. Even with the crowd solidly (and somewhat surprisingly) behind Val Venis, the former nWo teammates got the win and advanced.

Round One Matchup
Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin defeated Edge & Christian when Hart made Edge submit to a sleeperhold in 0:10:48.
Rating: ** 1/2

Now all of the more established tag teams are gone! Who says team chemistry is important?

An interviewer catches up with Bret Hart backstage.

"You know, I asked SHelton Benjamin to be my teammate because, quite frankly, the kid reminds me a lot of me. He's athletic, he's got great ring awareness, he's got heart. And it really doesn't matter to us who we face next in this tournament. If it's a real tag team or if it's a couple of guys just thrown together, we know we cannot be beaten tonight."

Tournament Semi-Final #1
Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel defeated Rick Rude and Ted DiBiase when Tenryu pinned DiBiase after an enzuigiri in 0:03:34
Rating: 3/4*

Perhaps the most unlikely pairing of the field is now in the finals!

Tournament Semi-Final #2
Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin defeated Curt Hennig and Scott Hall when Hart made Hall submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:17:16
Rating: * 3/4

Bret Hart continues his dominance as he makes Hall pass out while recieving the Sharpshooter! After beating Edge with a sleeperhold in round one, that means that not only are Hart and Benjamin in the finals, but nobody has even left a match with them while still conscious!

Vince McMahon comes out to make an announcement.
"As billed for tonight, your main event will be a tag team match between the teams of Triple H and Randy Orton & Jake Roberts and The Undertaker! But because of their actions earlier tonight, and in the interest of the safety of our great fans, tonights main event will take place inside a steel cage!"

Tournament Finals
Bret Hart & Shelton Benjamin defeated Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel when Hart made Tenryu submit to a Sharpshooter in 0:23:43.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin won the WWWF World Tag Team Championship)

Once again, Tenryu did not tap out in the Sharpshooter. He passed out! Bret Hart won the belts for himself and his young apprentice by quite literally knocking everyone out in the tournament!

Cage Match:
Triple H and Randy Orton defeated Jake Roberts and The Undertaker when Orton pinned Roberts after a flying forearm in 0:17:07
Rating: * 1/2

Thanks for coming out tonight folks! Next week, we'll feature more exciting matchups including the first defense of the Tag titles by Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin. Good night!
FuncrusherPlusPosted on 12/28/04 at 05:39:15

Welcome to another Saturday Nights Main Event!

Januray 15, Year 1 (2005)

We've got an exciting show for you tonight. Randy Orton will take on The Undertaker! Triple H will go against Jake "The Snake" Roberts! And the improbable tag team of Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin will defend their tag team titles for the first time. But now, let's get into tonight's matches.

Christian pinned Val Venis with the Unprettier in 0:09:56
Rating: ** 1/4

Curt Hennig pinned Tito Santana with the Hennig Plex in 0:17:16
.Rating: * 3/4

Edge pinned Matt Hardy with the Edgecution in 0:11:16
Rating: ***

Edge got the duke in this excellent match-up, despite a nice match from Hardy.

Jeff Hardy defeated Scott Hall by disqualification in 0:07:31
Rating: 1/2*

After a couple of near falls, Jeff Hardy had Hall literally begging to be left alone. Suddenly Rick Rude entered the ring and blasted Jeff Hardy with a vicious chair shot for the immediate DQ. Scott Hall just looked at Rude quizzically as Rude just dropped the chair and walked out.

The New Age Outlaws make their way out to the ring. Jesse James has something to say.

"It's very obvious to us that we aren't getting the respect we deserve. Billy and I aren't happy with our performance so far, but hell.....that tournament was just thrown together. We didn't have time to prepare! The fact is that no matter what, all these people know what we're capable of, but just in case anyone forgot, me and Billy issue a challenge to any couple of scrubs in the world who got the guts to come out here and take on the New Age Outlaws!"

The New Age Outlaws defeated The Brisco Brothers when Gunn pinned Jerry Brisco after a powerslam in 0:10:48
Rating: 3/4*

The Brisco brothers hit the ring, happy to take the opportunity. The Briscos really took it to them for a while, with some good old school brawling and technical wrestling. But in the end, the Outlaws were too much and sent the surprise competitors to a defeat.

Ted DiBiase made Rick Rude submit to the Million Dollar Dream in 0:17:43
Rating: ** 1/4

Rude had control of the match until the Hardy Boyz wandered out and stood at the top of the ramp. That was enough of a distraction as DiBiase snuck up behind a paranoid Rude and slapped on the submission hold.

The Undertaker defeated Randy Orton by countout in 0:09:45
Rating: -1/4*

This match was almost all Taker. After a quick start by Orton, the Dead Man took control and beat Orton from pillar to post. The match ended when Undertaker whipped the youngster off the ropes and then backdropped him right out of the ring! Orton hit the floor hard and was knocked out cold, giving Taker a dominant victory.

Triple H pinned Jake Roberts with the Pedigree in 0:08:48
Rating: 3/4*

World Tag Team Championship Match

Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel defeated Bret Hart and Shelton Benjamin when Martel made Benjamin submit to the Quebec Crab in 0:16:46
Rating: * 1/4
(Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel won the WWWF World Tag Team Championship)

Tenryu and Martel were simply better this time as Rick got Bret's apprentice to tap to the venerable submission hold, and we have new tag team champions.

We hope to see you next week!
FuncrusherPlusPosted on 12/30/04 at 07:46:47

Welcome to Week 4 Of Saturday Nights Main Event!

January 22, Year 1 (2005)

Some good matches on this card, including not one, not two, not three, but FOUR big tag matches.

To start off the show, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and The Undertaker make their way out to the ring. The Undertaker has a mic.

"Triple H, Randy Orton, we're not done with you yet. See, we've been dealing with you two for the last month, and it's about time we settled this thing, right here tonight!"

Triple H and Orton come out on the stage to respond.

"Taker, Randy and I have already proved our dominance again and again. I mean, I beat Roberts right in the middle of the ring, clean as a whistle last week. What the hell makes you think we still feel like giving you another shot."

Jake takes the stick.

"It's true, Hunter. You did beat me last week. But so what? I've been beat lotsa times. I've also won a lot more. Just because you beat me once, one measley time, you think that means something? And Randy, you haven't dominated a damn thing! Last I recall, Undertaker not only beat you, he knocked you clean out!"

Orton gets angry and grabs the microphone from Triple H. He yells over the cheering fans:

"Fine! You want us tonight? No problem. But the only way we're giving you guys one last chance, is if we get to pick the referee."

So tonight's main event will feature Orton & Triple H vs. Undertaker & Jake The Snake, with a special guest referee!

Edge & Christian defeated the New Age Outlaws when Edge pinned Gunn with the Edgecution in 0:05:44
Rating: * 1/4

The New Age Outlaws cold streak continues. After looking like they were back on track last week, they are derailed again here.

Val Venis pinned Rick Martel with the Money Shot in 0:10:50
Rating: *** 1/4

The crowd was white hot for this, for some reason. Val Venis got the win in a very exciting contest in what would probably be described as a minor upset.

Rick Rude walks into the ring.

"Last week I came into this ring during a match and splattered Jeff Hardy's brains with a steel chair. And all wekk, people have been asking me, why did I do that? What the hell is my problem? I'll tell you what my problem is. There's only one ladies man around here, and that's me. I hear the way some of these tramps out here squeal when those two little freaks come out and take off their shirts and dance around like idiots. What's wrong with you? Would you rather be with those little, skinny, boyish freaks? Or a real man like this?"

The Hardy Boys run in and slide into the ring together! Rude stops gyrating and takes a powder, running up and pausing on the ramp. Jeff Hardy takes the mic.

"Rude, it doesn't really matter to me what you think, or what the ladies think. The only thing that matters to me is that you felt the need to hit me in the head with a chair last week! It was a cheap shot and I plan to do something about it! Me and my brother against you tonight, Rude. Pick a partner. We'll see you in this ring tonight!"

Genichiro Tenryu pinned Tito Santana with the Power Bomb in 0:10:44
Rating: * 3/4

This was all Tenryu. Everytime Santana got something started, Tenryu put him back down, usually with brute force.

Curt Hennig & Ted DiBiase defeated Bret Hart & Shelton Benjamin when Curt Hennig pinned Benjamin with the Hennig Plex in 0:22:58.
Rating: ***

A great match that actually saw it go to a time limit draw with Shelton and Hennig in the ring. The referee made a decision to proceed with the match and declared that there must be a winner. Almost immediately after the restart, Hennig pinned Benjamin. The youngster took the loss hard, but mentor Bret tried to get him to understand it was just a bump in the road.

The Hardy Boys and Rick Rude & Scott Hall battled to a double countout in 0:14:57
Rating: * 1/4

Matt Hardy was all by himself, getting worked over by Rude and Hall for the first several minutes. Finally he tagged in Jeff, and he was a house-a-fire! Hall eventually had to just toss him out of the ring to cool him off. It eventually turned into an all-out brawl and they all got counted out.

Match with Special Referee Curt Hennig:
Triple H and Randy Orton defeated Jake Roberts and The Undertaker when Helmsley pinned Undertaker with the Pedigree in 0:07:51
Rating: *

Curt Hennig was the perfect referee choice for Orton and Helmsley, as he ignored every transgression that team pulled on Taker and The Snake. Unfortunately, Undertaker lost focus because of it and took the loss.

Alright, ladies and jungleman! Starting next week, we will begin qualifying matches for our World Title Tournament! See you then!
FuncrusherPlusPosted on 12/31/04 at 05:27:35

Welcome to Saturday Nights Main Event! (January 29, 2005 - Week 5)

Tonight we will begin the quest to crown the first WWWF World Heavyweight Champion! There will be three qualifying matches, and the winners of these matches will move on to the one night only, 8 man tournament in just three short weeks, at Madison Square Garden!

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #1
Val Venis pinned Curt Hennig with the Money Shot in 0:02:01
Rating: * 3/4

Val went right at Mr Perfect and destroyed him in two minutes, much to the delight of his ever expanding fan base. The Big Valboski is the first man in the tournament!

The Undertaker makes his way out to the ring.

"Jake Roberts isn't here tonight. Randy Orton? Took the night off. But Triple H, I know you're here tonight. We've got unfinished business. You pinned me in the cage last week, but let me telly you something, it didn't mean a damn thing. The question is, can you defeat me when you don't have a crony as the referee? Can you beat me when your boy Randy Orton isn't here? Can you beat me when it's just you and me.....and falls count anywhere in the building? Well, tonight we're gonna find out. I spoke to Vince McMahon and we've got just that match, shceduled for the main event tonight. No DQ, no countouts, falls-count-anywhere. I hope for your sake that you came prepared."

Edge & Christian defeated Bret Hart & Shelton Benjamin when Christian pinned Benjamin with a flying cross body press in 0:08:15.
Rating: ** 1/4

Benjamin lets another one slip through his hands. Bret Hart helped his partner up and gave him a friendly pat on the back, but was unable to hide his disappointment this time.

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #2
Scott Hall pinned Jeff Hardy with the Outsider Edge in 0:10:55. Jeff Hardy suffered a torn ligament in his knee. He will be out for approximately 3 cards.
Rating: ** 1/4

The crowd was wild for this one. As soon as the bell rang, Rick Rude was at ring side. Within a few minutes, Matt Hardy had come down to even the odds. Scott Hall whipped Jeff Hardy into the ropes, only to have Rude pull the top rope down and send Jeff crashing to the arena floor. The referee threatened Hall with a DQ, and admonished Rude, who did not leave. Matt Hardy responded later in the fight by tripping a running Scott Hall. Once again, in a controversial decision, referee Mike Chioda did not send either Rude or Matt Hardy to the back. Finish came after Jeff tried a springboard off a chair and his leg gave out. Hall just picked him up and hit him with the finisher and the pin. Jeff writhed in pain after the match and had to be helped to the back.

Ted DiBiase made Tito Santana submit to the Million Dollar Dream in 0:12:53.
Rating: ** 1/4

The Million Dollar Man continues his hot streak.

The Brisco Brothers are backstage. They wonder why they haven't been given another match since they debuted a couple of weeks ago. They demand respect and a match for the tag team titles next week.

Rick Martel made Billy Gunn submit to the Quebec Crab in 0:10:37
Rating: * 1/2

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #3
Matt Hardy defeated Genichiro Tenryu by disqualification in 0:07:40
Rating: ** 1/4

A few minutes into the match, Rick Rude came to ringside again, this time with Scott Hall. After jawing back and forth with Matt Hardy, who was in the ring, Jeff Hardy habbled down to the ring on crutches. Hall and Rude began pointing and laughing at Jeff Hardy. Shortly after that, Jeff climbed onto the apron and with Tenryu bouncing off the ropes, Jeff blasted him in the back with a crutch! The referee didn't see it, and Tenryu almost was pinned because of it. Hall and Rude started taking Jeff more seriously now, because crutches or not, he was willing to do whatever it took to get his brother in the Title Tournament. Later on, Matt Hardy went through the ropes and to the floor. Scott Hall tried to distract referee Dave Hebner while Rick Rude was putting the boots to Matt Hardy on the outside, but Hebner saw it anyway and called for the bell. Tenryu was enraged! As Rude and Hall beat up Matt, Tenryu leapt to the floor and clotheslined a crippled Jeff Hardy before heading to the back.

Falls-Count-Anywhere Match
The Undertaker pinned Triple H with the Last Ride in 0:28:25
Rating: ***

What a match! They went all over the arena! Fighting through the crowd, up the aisle at one point even up to the second floor, before Undertaker finally took control of the match by throwing Triple H down a flight of stairs! The match left Triple H bloody and the Undertaker finally vindicated.

So the first three men in the World Title Tournament are Val Venis, Scott Hall, and Matt Hardy. Next week, we will see at least 4 more qualifying matches! The crowning of a new world champ is only three weeks away!
HugeRockStar760Posted on 01/01/05 at 09:51:14

I like the concept of your very own wrestling universe.  I've also thought about using more than one circuit for competition, but I have a hard enough time getting one circuit off the ground.  However, spacing things out for a year (TNM time) at least makes sense.

Just wanted to let you know I'm reading.
FuncrusherPlusPosted on 01/01/05 at 19:07:07

Thanks, man. I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with the idea.
FuncrusherPlusPosted on 01/01/05 at 19:35:49

Saturday Nights Main Event comes to you again live! (February 5, 2005 - Week 6, Year 1)

To begin the night, Jim Ross announces that due to rampant interference and injuries last week, WWWF owner Vince McMahon has stated that there will be no interference tonight. Anyone who attempts to interfere in any match will be immediate barred from the World Title picture. We will have four more qualifying matches here, and next week there will be a battle royale featuring almost every superstar in the WWWF for the eighth and final spot in the tournament.

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #4
Bret Hart and Ted DiBiase battled to a double countout in 0:11:23.
Rating: * 1/2

This matchup is the only qualifying match so far to end in a non-finish. Now both men will have to wait and see what WWWF officials decide to do.

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #5
Edge pinned The Undertaker with the Edgecution in 0:06:54.
Rating: **

In a shocking upset, Edge claimed a spot in the World Title tournament. Edge intially hit the Undertaker with his Edgecution DDT out of absolutely nowhere, but the big man kicked out! Edge calmly helped him back ot his feet, kicked him in the gut, and hit him with his finisher one more time. The Dead Man was pinned clean in the ring. The announcers put Edge over as beginning to mature after so calmly and professionally dispatching of a living legend after kicking out of the Edgecution the first time.

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #6
Triple H pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Pedigree in 0:00:55.
Rating: *

Triple H came off of his tough defeat last week by destroying Benjamin in less than a minute! Banjamin started off with a few quick moves then whipped his opponent into the corner. But again, the rookie showed his inexperience when he went for a big splash and Hunter moved out of the way. Triple H rained down punches and chops on the kid for a few moments, then the kick and Pedigree for the win.

Vince McMahon announces that tonight's main event will not only be for a spot in the tournament, but will be a stretcher match between rivals Randy Orton and Jake Roberts!

Genichiro Tenryu and Rick Martel defeated The Brisco Brothers when Martel made Jerry Brisco submit to the Quebec Crab in 0:02:05.
Rating: ** 1/2

The Brisco Brothers demanded this match and respect last week, then promptly came out and showed how little they deserved either. Tenryu never even tagged in and I doubt we'll be seeing the Briscos again anytime soon.

World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #7
Stretcher Match
Jake Roberts defeated Randy Orton in 0:10:26.
Rating: *

Jake Roberts got the ultimate revenge! After getting his ass handed to him for the last several weeks by Orton and Triple H, he gets himself into the tournament by hitting Orton with a DDT on the concrete floor and watching officials stretcher him out of the arena!

So there are now 6 spots filled for the World Title Tournament. They are:

Triple H
Scott Hall
Edge
Jake Roberts
Val Venis
Matt Hardy

Next week we'll sort out the Ted DiBiase/Bret Hart situation, and hold a batte royal for the final slot in the tournament! We're only two weeks away from crowning our first World Champion! See you next Saturday!

Though I'm not particularly into this circuit yet, make sure you stick with it. There's nothing that will kill a potential audience of readers like not being committed to your own product.  Being someone in would tear through new circuits at a record pace, I know from experience.  For a more recent example, look at SuperstarJimiC.

Welcome to another edition of Saturday Nights Main Event!

February 12, Year 1 - Week 7

Tonight is a big night. There are only a few matches signed, but the big one, and the one we expect to last a while, is the main event: An 11 man Battle Royal to determine one of the final 2 spots in the tournament to crown the World Heavyweight Champion. The other spot will be determined tonight in a rematch of Ted DiBiase and Bret Hart. WWWF Owner Vince McMahon garauntees a winner in that match. But let's go ahead and get this show on the road with a big tag match!

Non-Title Match
Genichiro Tenryu & Rick Martel (c) defeated Edge & Christian when Tenryu pinned Christian after an enzuigiri in 0:07:52
Rating: ** 3/4

Match
Val Venis defeated Triple H by countout in 0:15:44
Rating: ***

Val Venis shocked Triple H by coming out of the gate firing! They went back and forth throughout this match and many times Triple H seemed absolutely flabbergasted as to what to do to put Venis down. The crowd was way into this one. The ending say Triple H taking Venis' Money Shot, but kicking out after a looooong two count. Venis climbed the turnbuckle and gave him yet another Money Shot! Triple H kicked out again, and then just rolled out of the ring and lay there in a fetal position until the referee rang the bell. Could this be a match-up we see in the tournament next week? If so, Triple H could find himself in big trouble.

No-Countout No-DQ 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match
World Title Tourney Qualifying Rematch

Bret Hart beat Ted DiBiase 2 falls to 0:
X Hart beat DiBiase via an elbowdrop from the second turnbuckle in 0:03:13
XHart beat DiBiase via the Sharpshooter in 0:25:00
Rating: ****

These two veterans pulled out all stops in this one, which was possibly the best match in the short history of the WWWF. Hart stunned DiBiase early and got the relatively quick first fall. But The Million Dollar Man regrouped, and for the next 20 minutes they battled it out in and out of the ring. At the end, there was a crazy sequence where they traded submission hold after submission hold. DiBiase locked a stunned Hart in a sleeperhold, but managed to eventually break the hold. Hart took control and slapped on an armbar submission, but DiBiase squirmed quickly out of that. AFter DiBiase hit a few quick moves, Bret caught him with a sudden clothesline and slapped the sharpshooter on him! DiBiase writhed in pain for 39 seconds before finally reaching the ropes! After a fast exchange, DiBiase slapped on the Million Dollar Dream! Bret would finally reach the ropes himself after 27 seconds! Finally, only a few seconds later, Hart was able to put DiBiase back in the Sharpshooter and get the victory. After this match, the men both recieved a standing ovation from the crowd.

11-Man Battle Royale
World Title Tourney Qualifying Match #8

Curt Hennig won an 11-man battle royale:
X Genichiro Tenryu threw out Undertaker in 0:03:45
X Rick Martel threw out "Road Dogg" Jesse James in 0:04:21
X Christian threw out Tenryu in 0:05:01
X Billy Gunn threw out Shelton Benjamin after a powerslam in 0:05:57
X Tito Santana threw out Christian in 0:06:38
X Rick Rude threw out Randy Orton in 0:12:50
X Rick Rude threw out Tito Santana in 0:13:42
X Gunn threw out Martel in 0:20:06
X Gunn threw out Rude in 0:24:31
X Curt Hennig threw out Gunn in 0:25:20
Rating: **

How about Curt Hennig? The wily vet managed to stay pretty clear of the action for most of the match, and the only man he eliminated was Billy Gunn to win the match and the eighth and final spot in the tournament next week!

So going into Madison Square Garden, our tournament bracket looks like this:

Triple H
Matt Hardy

Edge
Jake Roberts

Scott Hall
Val Venis

Bret Hart
Curt Hennig

See you next week for the biggest night in WWF history so far!

World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

February 19, Year 1 - Week 8

We are live in Madison Square Garden!

Tonight there is only one purpose, and that is to crown our new WWWF Champion! Eight men have spent the last month fighting to get here for one chance to wear that Championship Belt! Let's take one final look at our bracket for this evening.

Triple H
Matt Hardy

Edge
Jake Roberts

Scott Hall
Val Venis

Bret Hart
Curt Hennig

We're ready, the crowd is ready, and hopefully you fans at home are ready too. Here we go.....

WWWF World Title Tournament First Round Match
Triple H vs. Matt Hardy

We started out in a frenzy with both men getting in quick offense, then teasing their finishers. The crowd was white hot right off the bat, booing Triple H nearly out of the building. Hardy tried for another early Twist Of Fate, but Triple H reversed it into a Northern Lights suplex for a very long two count. Triple H dominated for the next few minutes, until the match went outside the ring and Matt Hardy began pounding Triple H, bouncing him off of the ring post, the steel steps, anything he could find. He rolled Trips back in and hit a DDT! 1, 2.....no! He hit a flying legscissors. 1, 2.....NO! He hit a Twist Of Fate! 1, 2, 3.......NO! Helmsley JUST kicked out. The crowd is going bananas! FInally Helmsley is able to get in a low blow that the ref didn't see. He spends a few minutes destroying Matt Hardy before pinning him with a Pedigree.

Triple H pinned Matt Hardy after a Pedigree in 0:16:32
Rating: ***

WWWF World Title Tournament First Round Match
Edge vs. Jake Roberts

This match was almost all Edge. Jake's only time on offense was after Edge missed a plancha and knocked himself out. It wasn't enough, though. Edge got the win.

Edge pinned Jake Roberts with the Edgecution in 0:06:30
Rating: * 3/4

WWWF World Title Tournament First Round Match
Scott Hall vs. Val Venis

Val Venis' recent run came to an end in this one. It was a very even match up, with both men getting theirs in. Scott Hall, after not being able to win via his usual methods, got Venis with something unusual for him: a submission hold.

WWWF World Title Tournament First Round Match

This match went exactly like you would think it would go between two such technical experts. Bret was waaaay over with the crowd, as the only real fan favorite left.

Let's take a look at some highlights from our first round matches.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, welcome back. Let's get the next round underway. Here's our first semi-final match:

WWWF World Title Tournament Semi-Final #1
Triple H vs. Edge

The crowd really rallied behind Edge in this one, despite the fact he hasn't really been a favorite of the fans. Could we see a face turn? The match itself was fast and furious, and very violent. Almost immediately at the beginning, Triple H blasted Edge with the Pedigree for a long two, but they were too close to the ropes and Edge grabbed them. Within just a few seconds, Edge had hit the Edgecution! Triple H kicked out of that pin attempt, and it was almost over twice in the first two minutes! They battled for a while, then Edge backdropped Triple H all the way out of the ring to the floor! Edge followed him out, whipped him into the ring post and Trips was busted open. They carried their fight in and out of the ring for a few more minutes, with Hunter bleeding like a stuck pig the whole time. Finally, there was another Pedigree and a pin.

Triple H pinned Edge with the Pedigree in 0:05:35
Rating: ** 3/4

One half of the Final Match is set. Who will Helmsley's opponent be?

WWWF World Title Tournament Semi-Final #2
Scott Hall vs. Bret Hart

Wow! Scott Hall continues his run with another improbable finish. This time it did come with his finisher, but it came in the middle of a clean match with a clean pin to send the crowd hero Bret Hart out of the tournament and advance to the final! Scott Hall will now face one of his best friends, another member of the infamous "Clique". The crowd was not happy, and they showered the ring with debris.

Okay folks, there will be an intermission now for 15 minutes, a resting period for our competitors. While you're waiting, let's look at some highlights from our year so far, leading up to this tournament.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The announcer stands alone in the ring. The bell rings three evenly spaced times.

"This is the final match in tonight's tournament to crown the first WWWF World Heavyweight Champion!"

WWWF World Title Tournament Final
For the vacant WWWF World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H vs. Scott Hall

What a disappointing main event. Scott Hall got into the ring, perhaps expecting something else to happen. He walked up to Helmsley with a big grin on his face tried to shake his hand, but Helmsley had his game face on and not only didn't stick his hand out to shake, he didn't even take his eyes off of Hall's face. Hall said "Take it easy, man" and reached out to pat Helmsley's shoulder in a friendly manner, and that was precisely the wrong move. Helmsley immediately laid waste to his old friend, blasting him with a clothesline. He whipped Hall off the ropes and crushed his face with a high knee. A kick to the midsection, a Pedigree, and a new Champion.

Triple H pinned Scott Hall with the Pedigree in 0:01:08.
Rating: 1/4*

Well, it's unbooked, so I can only report what actually happened. I was pulling more for Bret Hart myself.

Welcome to another edition of Saturday Nights Main Event!

February 26, 2005 - Year 1

We've got another great show for you tonight fans. Lots of stars in action, plus a few words from Scott Hall. What is his reaction to the events of last week? Bust first, we have a number one contenders match for the tag team titles!

Bret Hart is shown backstage talking to Shelton Benjamin. He tells Shelton that his performance so far has been very disappointing. But he's gonna give him one more shot, because Bret believes in him. He tells the kid he's got talent and tonight is an extremely important match. "Don't make me regret this, Shelton," is the last thing he says.

Number One Contenders match for the World Tag Titles
Edge & Christian defeated Shelton Benjamin & Bret Hart when Christian pinned Bret Hart with the Unprettier in 0:21:15.
Rating: *** 1/4

Shelton was not disappointing whatsoever in this one. Hart started out with Edge, and after some good back-and-forth action, he tagged out to Benjamin, and the kid was a house of fire. After taking Edge apart, then Christian, he tagged back out to Bret to keep the momentum going. Excellent match from here on out. At the end, Christian got the win clean, in the center of the ring. E & C will face Tenryu & Martel for the tag titles next week. After the match, Hart appeared angry with Benjamin and seemed to ask him why he didn't get in the ring and stop the pin. Bret stormed off in disgust.

Match
Val Venis defeated Ted DiBiase by disqualification in 0:11:35.
Rating: * 1/4

This match was relatively uneventful until Rick Rude made his way to ringside. To end the match, Ted DiBiase whipped Venis into the ropes. Rude pulled down the rope, sending the Big Valboski careening out of the ring. Rude just started putting the boots to him, and referee Dave Hebner had to call for the DQ. What's Rude's problem now?

Scott Hall is out now and he takes the microphone. He tells Triple H that what happened last week was cheap. Hall said that he didn't think Triple H was gonna just let him walk all over him, but he sure as hell deserved a little professionalism. He said no matter what Hunter thought of him, they used to be friends, and he deserves a rematch for the World Title without a cheap shot finish.

Triple H comes out to answer. He tells Hall that he did nothing wrong. It was Hall's prerogative to come out and try to shake hands and act like a clown. All Triple H did was take advantage of the situation, and when the World Championship is on the line, there are no friends. If Scott Hall wanted professionalism, he should have got in the ring ready to wrestle instead of ready to kiss Triple H's ass.

Hall obviously bristled at the last comment, but Triple H said to "Hold on, hold on." He agreed that Hall deserved a rematch, but not for the belt. He'd give him a rematch tonight. And if Hall beat him tonight, by pinfall and submission, not by count out, not by DQ, then he could have a World Title Shot. Triple H walked off while Hall looked satisfied.

Match
The Hardy Boyz defeated Curt Hennig & Randy Orton when Matt Hardy pinned Orton with the Twist Of Fate in 0:19:20.
Rating: * 1/4

Jeff Hardy made his return from injury early and helped his brother get the victory.

Match
Rick Martel made Jesse James submit to the Quebec Crab in 0:10:48.
Rating: ** 1/4

Martel put James in the Quebec Crab early in match for almost a full minute, but the Road Dogg fought his way to the ropes. But the damage was done, and when Martel put him in the Crab a second time, it was over quickly.

Match
Rick Rude defeated Tito Santana via pinfull in 0:24:21.
Rating: *** 1/2

After 20 minutes, no pinfall had occured and surprisingly, referee Earl Hebner decided to let the match continue. Val Venis then ran down to the ring, seeking revenge for Rude's earlier attack. When Rude hit the ropes, Venis reached up and grabbed his foot, distracting the Ravishing One. Earl Hebner admonished Val, but allowed him to remain at ring side. A minute or two later, Venis actually entered the ring and clotheslined Rude while Hebner's back was turned. The referee turned to see Rude down and Venis in the ring, and pushed Val out of the ring but once again, did not remove him from ring side. Finally, Rude got the win on a small package. Venis backed up the ramp slowly, talking trash at Rude the entire way.

Match
Genichiro Tenryu pinned Billy Gunn with the Power Bomb in 0:09:53.
Rating: * 1/2

Both members of the current world championship tag team get singles victories tonight.

Non-Title Match
Scott Hall pinned Triple H with the Outsider Edge in 0:13:42.
Rating: ** 3/4

Scott Hall shook up the world championship title picture with a clean win over Triple H! The Game had two chances to put Hall away early, almost executing the Pedigree but Hall narrowly escaped both times. After that it was near fall after near fall, until Hall got a reversal and the Outsider Edge! The crowd was super hot for this one, and Scott Hall was getting most of the cheers. What could this mean for "The Bad Guy"?

Thanks for joining us after the layoff, fans. Good night!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

As much as I don't want to, I think I will have to turn Scott Hall face. It will work out though, since I was also considering turning Bret Hart heel. We'll have to see how it plays out. Once again, all wins/losses are unbooked.

Welcome to another edition of Saturday Nights Main Event!

March 5, 2005 - Week 10, Year 1

Number One Contender's Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Ted DiBiase pinned Bret Hart after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:11:46.
Rating: *** 1/2

DiBiase and Hart tore the house down old school in this one, trading offense inside and outside the ring. The crowd was all over Ted the entire match and seemed eager to see the Hitman get his shot next week. But after a week off, The Undertaker made his way to ringside. After an accidental bump of the referee, Taker tossed some sort of foreign object into the ring. It seemed like he tried to toss it to Bret Hart, but it sailed over his outstretched fingers and right to DiBiase. The Million Dollar man blasted Bret in the head and the referee was able to regain his composure and count the pin. Afterward, The Undertaker showed no signs of whether or not he was disappointed in the outcome, leading everyone to speculate on just who he was trying to help.

Match
Randy Orton pinned Tito Santana with the RKO in 0:14:20.
Rating: ** 3/4

Nice win for the youngster.

Rick Rude comes down to the ring.

RR: "Everybody's asking me, 'Rick, why did you attack Val Venis last week during his match?' Is it really that hard to understand? For those of you to stupid to figure it out.....and I know there's a lot of you here in the audience and in the locker room.....I tried to tell everyone. I tried to tell Jeff Hardy and he didn't listen, so I had to put him out of action for a while. And Val Venis didn't learn from Jeff Hardy's example, so I had to take him out too. There is only one true Ladies Man here in the WWWF, and that is me, The Ravishing One. I know there are those who want to be like me, and well.....who wouldn't? But the fact of the matter is that I am not gonna let some two bit loser come out here and steal my thunder!"

Val Venis appears at the top of the ramp.

VV: "Rude, just shut your mouth! You had to take me out? I'm standing right here! You haven't taken me out. All you did was make me mad. So you don't like it when the ladies scream for the Big Valboski? Too bad, Rick. I can't help the way I look, the way I move, the way I.....perform. But what I can help is you letting your jealousy get in my way. So I spoke with the big guys in the back, Rick, and told them that somebody needed to teach you a lesson. So tonight, you and me Rick, one on one in a falls-count-anywhere match!"

Rude looks angry and Val smiles as he walks backstage to his music.

Six-Man-Tag Match
The New Age Outlaws & Jake Roberts and The Hardy Boyz & Shelton Benjamin battled to a draw in 0:20:00.
Rating: 3/4*

Before and after the match, all competitors shook hands in a true display of sportsmanship between teams of crowd favorites.

Scott Hall is backstage with interviewer Mean Gene Okerlund.

GO: "Scott Hall, last week Triple H challenged you to a one-on-one match where he stated that if you defeated him by pinfall or submission, you would get a World Title shot. Any word so far?"

SH: "No Gene, I haven't even seen him here tonight. But Triple H, you can't run from what you said. You wanted to cheap shot me two weeks ago in Madison Square Garden? Fine. You wanted to make me beat you last week to get another shot at the belt? Fine. But I did it, Triple H. I beat you in the center of that ring 1, 2, 3. And now, you have to back up your words. I heard you, Gene heard you, all the people in the arena you, all the people at home watching.....we all heard you. So now the only thing left is....."

Hall is interrupted by Triple H walking on screen, clad in a black suit and with his WWWF World Title over his shoulder.

TH: "Don't get your panties in a bunch, Scott. I'm right here. You're right I did promise you that if you beat me last week, you'd get that world title shot. But I never said when, Scott. And you know, that Outsider Edge you gave me last week.....that was pretty good, you got me good there. A little too good. See, it seems like my shoulder has been flaring up a little. Musta landed on it, you know how that goes. Anyway, since I didn't say you'd get your match tonight, I think I'll sit this one out and let my wounds heal. Instead, I picked a substitute for the match tonight. So good luck, Scott. Maybe next week.....no wait, I face DiBiase next week. Oh well, one of these days, Sport."

Triple H walks off with a big smile on his face. Scott Hall just shakes his head.

Falls-Count-Anywhere Match
Val Venis pinned Rick Rude with the Money Shot in 0:03:42.
Rating: * 1/2

Val Venis came out like a madman, hardly allowing Rude any offense. The crowd was incredible for him once again and he finished off the Ravishing One in quick fashion.

Match
Scott Hall pinned Curt Hennig after a gutwrench suplex in 0:02:11.
Rating: 1/4*

Scott Hall, now more or less established as a crowd favorite, destroyed Curt Hennig. After the match, he stared directly into the camera, motioned around his waste for "the belt", and pointed right into the lens, sending a message to the champion.

World Tag Team Championship Match
Genichiro Tenryu* & Rick Martel* defeated Edge & Christian when Tenryu defeated Christian via pinfall in 0:16:53.
Rating: **
(Tenryu & Martel retained the WWWF World Tag Team Championship)

Well wrestled match on both sides, but in the end the champions, especially Tenryu, were just too powerful.

What now, fans? How will Rick Rude react to his embarrassing loss to Val Venis? How will Bret Hart take losing his number one title shot because the Undertaker made a mistake? Or did he? And what is going to happen to the world title picture next week, with both Ted DiBiase and Scott Hall claiming a shot at the title? Tune in next week to find out all the answers!
