Card rating: **** 1/4 Match observations: Well, we are half way done with the first NWJ GP Climax tournament, and it's been a good one. Tonight was no different as we saw some excellent matches from everyone involved and topped the night off with a great jr. heavyweight battle. Kobashi and Chono had a great opening match, and the NWJ Heavyweight Champion came out victorious when he put Chono away with a Burning Lariat. Kobashi said that he felt that it was a good match and would like to face Chono in a title match after the GP Climax was completed. Muto and Akiyama had a similarly great match with a lot of near falls. After almost 20 min of trading back and forth Muto took advantage for the final time and hit a pair of shining wizards on Akiyama to put him away. We move on to the set up for our main event, a 13 man jr. heavyweight battle royal, with the winner facing Magnum TOKYO in our main event. All the competitors pulled out everything they had and in the end Christopher Daniels was the last man standing in the ring. After the match Daniels said that he felt confident that he would beat TOKYO. Nagata and Tenzan stepped into the ring in the next match. Tenzan tried his hardest against Nagata but was unable to secure a win. Nagata said that there was never a doubt that he was better than Tenzan. Nagata also reminded everyone that he's got a problem with Minoru Tanaka. Tanaka ignored Nagata's comments and stepped into the ring with Manabu Nakanishi this round. Nakanishi definatly had the size advantage, but Tanaka worked on the legs and neck of his bigger opponent which gave him the upper hand for most of the match. After the match Tanaka replied to Nagata's comments saying that with all this talk, Nagata is only setting himself up for an even more embrassing loss. We finished off the night with a Jr. Heavyweight main event, that saw Magnum TOKYO defend the title against battle royal winner, Christopher Daniels. This was a pretty even match and had some excellent technical spots, and even had some big near falls with an AV Star Press from TOKYO and a Spicy Drop from Daniels. When all was said and done the champion retains his title however. Well that's all for us tonight, we'll see you tomorrow for the 5th card in the GP Climax series. SuperstarJimiC | Posted on 02/18/05 at 17:58:21 I thought that this card was great. It's almost like SJPW, but you're more experienced with this than I am, I'm still learning. I need to ask, what other Japan arenas that you have that I don't? Do you have any arenas from China or Korea? Let me know. |
Carlzilla | Posted on 02/19/05 at 00:04:53 JimiC: I know that Oliver doesn't like shills on the board, but if you want to get more aquainted with some puro action check out http://www.puroresudvdsource.com. most people think that following puro is an expensive hobby due to importing, but this guy sells fell unclipped shows for 5 dollars for a single DVD and 8 bucks for a double. He's got some sweet stuff too. Also like I said in another post, I have added 400 already and have 100+ more to add. It's not just that I am adding new ones though, I am also fixing the capacity on the existing arenas to be more accurate, and changing their names to lowercase...sorry it's a pet peeve...I hate all caps. Everyone else: You don't have to leave a long comment, or anything, but I am curious as to how many people read this. If you would all be so kind as to oblige me and just post an "I read it" type message so I could see how many people do just that I would be so very happy. Thanks. |
Crpls | Posted on 02/19/05 at 21:09:06Everyone else:You could always look at how many views you get. I know it counts multiple views by the same person, but it should be a good indicator. |
