bruschimaniaPosted on 02/16/05 at 08:09:12

TNA Impact! starts with a brand new opening, set to "Ready to Die" by Andrew WK... we go into the Impact! Zone, which seems to have been upgraded recently...

"Lock and Load" by Bob Seger strikes up and here comes the Director of Authority, Dusty Rhodes!  He's got a microphone!

DR: Tonight, if you will, an 8 team tournament begins.  And why, you ask?  Because we need #1 contenders for America's Most Wanted's tag team titles!  3 Live Kru will face the Naturals, Team Japan makes their TNA return to face Batts and Jerrelle, Team Canada will take on Dustin Rhodes and Erik Watts, and LA Park and Psicosis, they'll be wrestling Shane and Kazarian.  All 8 teams, trying to get to the pay window, if you will.  And all 4 of the first round matches will take place, tonight, here on Impact!  You'll also see Kid Kash take on the Charismatic Enigma, Jeff Hardy!  So let's get to the wrestlin'!

"How We Do" by the Game comes over the PA, and here come the 3 Live Kru, B.G. James and Konnan!  "Survival of the Sickest" by Saliva plays as their opponents, the Naturals, make their way out to the ring!

MATCH ONE: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDER TOURNAMENT... 3 LIVE KRU(B.G. JAMES AND KONNAN) VS THE NATURALS(ANDY DOUGLAS AND CHASE STEVENS)

The Good: This was a nice little brawl.  These two teams seem to have a real nice chemistry with each other.  It kept a really good pace, even if it was short.
The Bad: It was really too short to get anything going, to build on what they had.  Hopefully in the future they'll get a good 12-15 minute PPV match to really show what they can do.
The Finish: The match quickly degenerated into a 4 person brawl, and in the midst of it all, K-Dawg caught Douglas in his 187 DDT, and got the pinfall, advancing the 3 Live Kru.

B.G. James and Konnan defeated The Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens) when Konnan pinned A. Douglas after a cradle DDT in 0:04:20.
Rating: ** 1/4

"Take It" by Insane Clown Posse strikes up as Team Japan makes their way to the ring.... "Where the Hood At" by DMX plays, and here come their opponents, Mikey and Jerrelle!  Wait... where are they?  The song starts again... but still, no Clark and Batts... all of a sudden, the music gets cut, and the theme from JAWS plays, and here comes Shark Boy and D-Ray 3000!  I guess they're a last second replacement!

MATCH TWO: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDER TOURNAMENT... TEAM JAPAN(NOSAWA AND MIYAMOTO) VS SHARK BOY AND D-RAY 3000

The Good: It was a decent, if unexciting squash match... nothing that was really jaw dropping, but it did the job.
The Bad: It was just a squash match.  The less said the better.
The Finish: Nosawa knocked D-Ray off the apron and then hit the Michinoku Driver for the 3 count and the advancement in the tournament!

Nosawa and Kazushi Miyamoto defeated D-Ray 3000 and Shark Boy when Nosawa pinned Shark with the Michinoku Driver in 0:02:45.

"Oh Canada" strikes up as Roode and Young of Team Canada make their way to the ring, accompanied, as always, by Scott D'Amore.  "Don't Think Twice" by

Mike Ness plays as Dustin Rhodes and Erik Watts come out, and play to the crowd on their way to the ringside area.

MATCH THREE: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDER TOURNAMENT... TEAM CANADA(BOBBY ROODE AND ERIC YOUNG) VS "LONESTAR" DUSTIN

RHODES AND ERIK WATTS

The Good: Uh.... it... wasn't?
The Bad: This match just was a poor style clash... nothing seemed to work right, and these guys didn't seem to want to be here.  Just a poor poor match.
The Finish: Dustin hit Young with the Bulldog, then was going for the cover, when D'Amore interfered.  The referee DQ'd Canada and gave the win to Rhodes and Watts!

Dustin Rhodes and Erik Watts defeated Bobby Roode and Eric Young when Dustin Rhodes defeated E. Young by disqualification in 0:06:15.
Rating: 3/4*

Backstage, Shane Douglas is interviewing Raven.

SD: Raven, I understand that tonight, you have something to unveil to the world.....
R: On this very evening, before all of the idiots at the Impact! Zone and all of the fans watching around the country, and around the world, I will show you all..

All of a sudden, there's a banging behind them... It's a door, and it's locked with a padlock.

SD: Someone get a set of bolt cutters!

Someone on the production team runs over, and cuts the padlock off the door.  Mikey Batts and Jerrelle Clark stumble out.

SD: Mikey, Jerrelle, who locked you in there....
MB: Man, we don't know... it all happened so fa...
R: NO... NO, NO, NO, NO.  THIS ISN'T HAPPENING.  You two imbeciles are not going to ruin my moment.  Not tonight, not EVER.

Raven attacks Clark and Batts, although security pulls them apart.  Dusty Rhodes comes from his office out to the hallway.

DR: Raven, if you want to get this done, get yourself a partner and we'll hook em up tonight!
R: I don't need a partner!  I don't need a partner!

While he repeats this, he sits back against the walls and pulls his legs to his body..

R: I don't need a partner... I don't need a partner... Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.... I don't need a partner....

MATCH FOUR: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDER TOURNAMENT... KAZARIAN AND MICHAEL SHANE VS L.A. PARK AND PSICOSIS

"Thriller" by Michael Jackson plays, and here comes LA Park and his teammate Psicosis!  "DJ, DJ" by the Transplants strikes up over the house system, and here come Shane and Kazarian!

The Good: This match was given a lot of time.  These guys worked well together, and they had a really nice section of the match where Psicosis played a good Ricky Morton to Shane and Kazarian's Midnight Express.  The hot tag worked well, and the Impact! Zone crowd really responded to it when Park got into the ring.
The Bad: While a good match, it had some slow parts, and neither Shane nor Kazarian have the offense to carry a great match.
The Finish: Hot tag to Park.  He takes out both Shane and Kazarian with drop kicks and scoop slams.  Shane rolls out to the floor and in a fit of rage, grabs a chair from the ringside area... comes in and is about to go after Park when the referee gets in the way and tries to wrestle the chair from Shane.  While this is happening, Park slides to the outside, and gets his chair from underneath the ring.  Slides in and blasts Frankie.  Slides the chair out while Psicosis comes over to take out Shane, allowing Park to make the pinfall and get his team to the semi-finals!

L.A. Park and Psicosis defeated Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian when Park pinned Kazarian after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:09:34.

Jeff Jarrett is backstage, along with the wrestler who used to be known as Billy Gunn.

JJ: All of the dirtsheets, all of the little smart columnists, they were all saying that my reign, my god given right as the NWA World Champion was coming to an end.  But I went and got myself the Hired Gunn, who was to ensure my victory.  Syxx Pac, BG James, you clowns want to stand in the way of my destiny!?  You'll learn.  Soon enough.  This is my lifeblood, and when you get in the way of my lifeblood, I end your life.  I'm calling you all out.  Nash, Syxx Pac, James.  The three of you against me, the Hired Gunn, and a partner of our choosing.  In Six Sides of Steel.  No where for you three punks to run.  If you little punks are man enough, buck up.  I dare ya.

"Where the Hood At" by DMX plays, and here comes Mikey and Jerrelle!  They're definitely fired up after losing their shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles.  "Come Out and Play" by the Offspring comes over the PA and here comes Raven!  As promised, there's no partner in sight!

MATCH FIVE: MIKEY BATTS AND JERRELLE CLARK VS RAVEN - HANDICAPPED MATCH

The Good: This was a really well put together handicap match.  Batts and Clark were bumping for Raven during his offensive spurts, but the natural story of the match was that Clark and Mikey together were too much for Raven to handle, but he could when he got them one-on-one.. and it really, really worked.  The double team exchanges made Clark and Mikey look like a great team, and Raven looked incredibly strong too.
The Bad: There's something unnatural about a handicapped match, regardless of how hard they try, the psychology limits it from being a truly great match.
The Finish: Jerrelle looked like he had Raven put away, and was going to go for the 630 Splash.  He climbed to the top, but as he was up there... the lights went out.  When they came on, the referee was down, and the monster ABYSS was in the middle of the ring!  Clark dived at Abyss but he caught him in a Black Hole Slam!  Raven used this time to get to his feet, and he pulled Mikey in the ring and gave him the Evenflow!  The referee came to, and counted the pinfall!

Handicap-Match:
Raven defeated Jerelle Clark and Mikey Batts when Raven pinned M. Batts with the Evenflow DDT in 0:06:11.
Rating: ***

After the match, Raven grabbed a microphone.

R: I GOT MYSELF A PARTNER, DUSTY!  I GOT MYSELF A PARTNER!  I GOT MYSELF A BIG PARTNER!  Now... BOW TO ME, ABYSS!

Abyss gets down on one knee in front of Raven!

R: HAHAHAHAHA!  QUOTH THE RAVEN, NEVERMORE!

(commercial break)

And it's main event time!  "Walk" by Pantera plays, and here comes Kid Kash, along with his relative, Dallas!  Kash gets to the ring.. but wait a second, he's sending Dallas to the back!  You can hear him audibly saying "I'm doing this on my own!"  "Party in the Morgue(Club Mix)" by Thee Undertakerz hits, and here comes the Charismatic Enigma, Jeff Hardy!

MATCH SIX: MAIN EVENT- JEFF HARDY VS KID KASH

The Good: This was easily the best match all night.  Which really surprised a lot of people.  It was given time to go, and either Kash did the carry job of his life, or Jeff Hardy is starting to get back what he once had.  Either way, it was very good.  They stayed mat based, and Kash did a really good job controlling the tempo of the match.
The Bad: There wasn't any.  For a match less than 10 minutes, this was about as good a match as they could've had.  Yes, working at this level, they probably could've burned it up if they were given more time, but based on the response of the fans here at the Impact! Zone, I don't think they minded.
The Finish: Hardy hits the Twist of Fate, then goes up top for the Swanton, but Kash blocks it with his knees!  Kash is up, and hits the Moneymaker... One... Two... Th.. NO!  KICK OUT!  Kash is getting pissed.  He goes up top for the Frog Splash... NO ONE HOME!  Kash is up first, and he pulls Hardy to a corner for the swinging DDT.  Hardy pushes himself away, but his back is to Kash... he focuses himself, and turns around, right into a leaping swinging DDT!  Kash goes for the cover and gets the pinfall victory!

Kid Kash pinned Jeff Hardy after a leaping swinging DDT in 0:08:56.
Rating: *** 3/4

I think you need to explain the storylines and the matches more. You built up the Raven match earlier on but you didnt even provide the good bad and finish for it.The finish for the main event wasn't even in the same format as the rest of the card.
rey619Posted on 02/16/05 at 10:19:28

I liked your Impact better than the real one with all their squash matches against NWA Florida wrestlers. Did you forget to put up the ratings for the main event?  Great name for Billy Gunn by the way, I wonder if TNA would get away with calling him Hired Gunn in real life, as it has connotations to his WWE name. Maybe they can call him Willy Pistol or something..

If you need a backstory.... www.tnawrestling.com - going from Against All Odds.  If you follow TNA at all, my card should at least make some sense.

Didn't even notice that.  But it's fixed now.  Thanks.

From what I heard, he's going to be using the name "The New Age Outlaw".  I'm not HUGE on Hired Gunn, when I first came up with it, I really liked it, but it's one of those, the more I read or type it, the less I like it, but even I'll admit it's better than what they're using.
