GPW Impact 3/17/05 (Week 9)

JustinPosted on 02/13/05 at 20:34:32

This week's show starts off with Evolution's music playing as Ric Flair, Batista, & the new GPW World Heavyweight Champion: Randy Orton make their way to the ring.
RF: All hail the new GPW World Heavyweight Champion: "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton!
RO: (laughs) I love it when a plan comes together. Last week, everyone was worried that Batista would be too much of a team player & Triple H would retain the World Heavyweight Title. Everyone worried that Evolution would not be stopped. Well, they were almost right. Batista was the team player that everyone feared he would be. Except this time, he was on the winning team. And Evolution still cannot be stopped. Now alot of you out there are asking "Why? Why did Randy Orton rejoin Evolution? How is this possible?" Well, it's real simple. For too long Triple H thought that Evolution was just about him & having him keep the World Heavyweight Title. For too long, Ric Flair was forced to kiss up to a man that didn't respect him. For too long, Batista was forced to to find ways to help Triple H retain a title that he couldn't defend on his own anymore. For too long, Triple H needed to be the centerpiece, the crown jewel of Evolution, forsaking the other members for his own ego. Now Evolution stands united for the first time in a long time. And all it took was out thinking the "Cerebral Assassin". Chalk up another legend, crushed by "The Legend Killer". Now I already know the next question on everyone's mind: "How long until Batista & Flair get tired of being in Randy Orton's shadow?" Well let's go to the source for the answer. (he hands Batista the microphone)
B: It's real easy....it's not gonna happen. Triple H made Evolution all about him. Now, we stand here as equals. No one member better than the rest. Even though Randy has the World Title, he knows why he has it, & who helped him get it. (Orton mouths a thank you to Batista as he gets the mic back)
RO: Now, you can be sure that IF Triple H was here tonigh, he'd be out here crying about how he was screwed. But, I don't think we'll be seeing him for a while after the beating he took last week. You see, Evolution is an unbeatlable, unstoppable force, and I defy anyone to prove me wrong.
"So you think you're untouchable.....WORD LIFE" John Cena's music plays as "the Doctor of Thuganomics" steps onto the runway.
JC: Yo, yo, yo, now you kow that Triple H ain't the only one you double crossed last week, Randy. I thought we had a plan dawg? We was supposed to be the final 2 and you go and have that big ape watch your back instead of me? Aight, well then I guess there's only one thing to do about it. How about me & you get it on, 1 on 1 for that gold strap?
RO: John, if you think you have what it takes to take down "the Legend Killer", bring it on! But not now. I'll be the one to deside if & when you get that shot.
JC: If you don't wanna give me a shot....I guess I'll just take it then.
Cena drops the mic & charges the ring. Batista cuts him off as he slides under the ropes. Flair joins Batista in stomping Cena down. Orton has them pick up his would-be challenger and just before he can deliver the RKO, Chris Jericho & Rob Van Dam charge to the ring carrying steel cahirs. Evolution clears out as the camera fades to commercial on our 2 young heros helping the fallen Cena.

Card overview:

Match of the night:
Ric Flair vs Chris Jericho
Rating: ***3/4

Thanks to the brutal beating the Batista gave him, RVD suffered a broken arm & will miss at least a month. Luckily, Chris Jericho didn't suffer any perminant damage from the Figure Four.

Ric Flair again puts on another great performance. You have to admit, even at his age he can still hang with the younger stars.

AMW showed that even the global superteam of the Steiner Brothers must respect them in the ring, by picking up a victory in 6 man competition tonight. But next wee, with the titles on the line it may be a different story.

John Cena has made it known he still wants the GPW World Title even though his now former friend Randy Orton hold the belt. Next week, he gets his first shot at "The Legend Killer" and the gold. Can he get passed the new version of Evolution to win it all?

I know that we wanted to give you an update on Triple H, but we have not been able to contact him as of yet.

Next week:
Hopefully, we will have an update on Triple H
Randy Orton defends the GPW World Heavyweight Title against John Cena
AMW puts the gold on the line against The Steiner Brothers
A Triple Threat match will be held to determine new #1 contenders to the GPW World Tag Team Title.
Plus much much more!

It's stuff like broken arms and other such injuries that seem so irritating on the surface and yet can do wonders for angles and such - I'm sure the plan in there somewhere was for Batista to be pushed as a monster. How convenient then that he's such a monster that he breaks peoples arms, especially someone as popular as RVD. That's quite a nice direction for him that's literally been handed to you there.
VertigoPosted on 02/13/05 at 21:05:47

I agree with 91. And Jericho getting stretchered out after Figure-4. This new Evolution is proving to be extremely dominant and even frightening.

Chalk up another one for Sabu. He's working his way up.

In the main event, you have AMW & JOHN CENA listed as winners...
JustinPosted on 02/13/05 at 23:14:58

oops my bad about the ME winners I missed the line when i copied it & typed it myself....guess I had Cena on the brain.

Thanks for the heads up.
rey619Posted on 02/13/05 at 23:32:15

Good card again Justin, I take back what I said about the somewhat obvious Evolution turn.. I think you handled it brilliantly. It will be exciting to see if Trips come back as heel or face.. personally, I can't see Triple H as a face...

Steiners vs AMW is a must see for any tape collection.

Seems like you are bringing in a few new faces, that's good. I don't know much about Skyfire, but Smith is great. What export do you use? I have only been able to find one (over at TNMUK), but in that he had 11 moves and weighed 150 lbs.. which is wrong by at least 70 lbs. If you have a decent one I would be grateful for it as I really want to introduce him into my circuits..
