IWA - NE Presents their Opening show

rey619Posted on 02/05/05 at 20:26:55

After the success of IWA: MS and IWA: PR, the IWA expanded into the NorthEast region, and tonight was their opening show.

The circuit uses Critic of the Dawn's Ruleset

Openeing Ceremony
After an extravagant opening with pyros and music, promotor Marc DeMei came in and introduced everyone to IWA: North East. He told the 300 or so fans that had gathered at the arena that he had some blockbuster names signed for tonight's show, but before long he was interrupted by Jack Evans and Roderick Strong who came to the ring.

Jack Evans: Yo dude, we know we are pretty big names in this industry. But if you could just give us the Tag-team belts, we will be on our way.

Marc De Mei: well.. I am sorry guys. First of all, we don't have a tag title yet. Second of all, I just can't give them to you. And third, we definetely have bigger names then you here.

(Crowd pops as the promoter offend Generation Next. Roderick Strong has to hold Evans back so that he doesn't attack DeMei).

Roderick Strong: You listen to me DeMei. We are the dominant force in RoH, and we will be the dominant force here in IWA: NE as well.

(Lynyrd Skynyrd with 'Give Me Back My Bullets' plays as the Briscoe brothers make their way to the ring. Generation Next bails out of the ring as Jay pick up a microphone on his way in)

Mark Briscoe: Now, you little Eminem-wannabe and false Messiah, we don't need no tag-team titles or any other excuse for a match with you two punks. So why don't you come back into the ring and show us what you got. If you dare, that is.

Match 1 - Tag Team Match
Briscoe Bros vs Generation Next

The master of the Scramble Cage and the Messiah of the
Backbreaker felt humiliated here in the opening minutes of this new promotion, and tried to avenge their loss of pride against the Briscoes. Evans used his speed and agility to set the quick pace for this match, scoring a huge springboard DDT on Mark before he tags in the powerhouse of the tandem. Strong utilized a lot of submission moves to wear down Mark, but when he managed to tag Jay, the roles were reversed, and Strong barely escaped the STF intact. Gret mat-based wrestling now!
Evans pulled off his normal insane arsenal of high flying moves, including a 450 splash to the outside that had the crowd going *holy shit* for a couple of minutes.
The Briscoes try as best as they can, but not even an underhook piledriver on Roderick Strong can put Gen Next away today. Strong then lifted up one of the Briscoes, and Jack Evans performed a rana from the top turnbuckle on the Briscoe already on Strongs shoulder! An incredible move they call the Rebirth for the win.

Generation Next (Strong and Evans) defeated the Briscoe Bros (Jay and Mark), when Evans pinned Jay after the Rebirth in 15:01
Rating: ***1/4

As Generation Next celebrate their win in the ring, Austin Aries join them in celebration. Aries take the microphone.

Austin Aries: Even though I am not a part of IWA: MS as of yet, I am proud to have my two compadres here, showing the world what Generation Next is made of. Showing the world that without Alex Shelley as its leader, the Generation is both stronger and better. And when I put away Shelley next month in RoH..
(Aries is interrupted by 'Six Barreled Shotgun' by Black Rebel Motorcycle, and Alex Shelley enters the arena. This is unprecedented, as neither of these are contracted to IWA!!)

Alex Shelley: Austin Aries! Your coup on me was both unneccessary and stupid. You see, your career could have been so much more if you hadn't done what you did. Now, you have to take the consequences of tangling with Alex Shelley. After all, I have talent on loan from god. Now, how would you people here in Wakefield, Massachussets *pop* like to see me and Austin Aries fight, tonight.... for the RoH World Title.

*massive pop from the crowd* (Strong and Evans are going ballistic in the ring and wants to attack Shelley, but Aries backs them off and turns to Shelley.

Austin Aries: You know something Alex Shelley? Samoa Joe also defended his title in other promotions. Do you really think I wouldn't do the same. It would be an honor pinning your sorry ass all over the country, so why not here in this shithole *crowd jeers*

Match 2 - Triangle Match
Nigel McGuinness vs Mikey Batts vs DJ Hyde

Quite a diverse style here between these three. McGuinness' Euro style technical wrestling, Batts high-flying and Hyde's hardcore didn't mesh all to well, but Batts proved to be adaptable, countering McGuinness' submission techniques on the mat-wrestler, and really turning hardcore on DJ Hyde, smashing the youngsters face into the steel stairs.
Batts awed the crowd on more than one occasion, particularly when he copied Petey Williams' the Canadian Destroyer on DJ Hyde. Batts try to do away with McGuinness through a 450 splash with no luck as this match passes the 20 minute mark. The match continues back and forth until all 3 men are weary and tired. McGuinness goes for an uppercut, but Batts counters it with a backslide. 1...2... time limit expires. Batts can't believe it, as McGuinness slides outsides very relieved.

Mikey Batts drew Nigel McGuinness and DJ Hyde in 30:00
Rating: **3/4

Match 3 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Jerelle Clark
Jimmy Jacobs is one of the most promising youngsters on the Indy scene, but what could he do against the high-flying Jerelle Clark?

After a brief advantage in the opening minutes, Mr 630 lost the initiative to Jacobs, who ran Clark into the ringsteps, followed by a senton to the outside. Jacobs used every trick in the book to gain the advantage on Clark, poking him in the eye and giving him a blatant low blow as the ref was distracted. Even so, Clark was able to give Jacobs a good run for his money, dropping him on his head with a springboard DDT for a pin attempt. Jacobs is relentless however, landing several chops on Clark before connecting with a backward kick that sets up the Contra Code for the win.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Jerelle Clark with the Contra Code in 15:00

Match 4 - Randy Orton vs CM Punk
This match is a direct result of the interview Orton made on a local radio station last week. As one of the biggest name in IWA: NE, Orton was invited to the radio show, where he talked about life on the Indy circuit. Orton came with severe remarks about the indy wrestlers, saying that 'Wrestlers like CM Punk may be good from an in-ring perspective, but they are as boring to watch as watching paint dry.' Maybe five minutes later, CM Punk burst into the studio and started to choke Orton with a radio cable. Apparently, Punk had been driving to the gym when he heard the show, and decided to take matters into his own hands. Orton's huge ego got a big scrape that day, and told Chief Promotor DeMei that he wanted Punk in the ring the first night.

Orton plays to the crowd immediately, and gets them against him, while Punk has problems drawing heat from the crowd. What he lacks in heat he takes back in action, as he nails Orton with a Shining Wizard, staggering the youngest WWE Champion in history. Following several near falls from Punk, Orton blatantly chokes the life out of his opponent, before ramming him into the turnbuckle.
The crowd seemed to prove Orton's point right, as no matter what Punk did, the crowd didn't respond. Orton eventually nailed Punk with a bulldog, then motioned for the RKO. Punk got up and was levelled with that dreaded finishing move and put away for now.

Randy Orton pinned CM Punk with the RKO in 11:41

Match 5 - The Outkast Killahz vs The SAT - Special referee Jimmy Rave

Before this match, Jimmy Rave came out wearing a ref shirt, saying that he was appointed the special referee for this match. The Killahz were pleased, but Rave said he would call the match down the middle.

That was definetely not the truth, as Rave markedly slow-counted the Maximo's pin attempt, frustrating them more and more throughout this bout. Despite the help from ref Rave, the Outcast Killaz couldn't match the speed and experience of the SAT's, and without Rave, they would surely have perished in the opening minutes.
Several technical pinning maneouvers were attemped on Santiago, but last second kick-outs, saves by Tortuga or slow counting from Rave prevented the win. The Killaz had been better off losing to a small package, because finally, Jose got enough and performed his patented power bomb variant on Santiago. Rave had to count the 3 count, even though an unbiased ref could have counted to 6 by the time.

After the match, Rave tried to help his former allies, but was downed by a Tortuga clothesline. Tortuga and Santiago continued to boot Rave until The SAT's returned and chased the Killahz from the ring.

The Spanish Announce Team defeated The Outcast Killaz when Jose Maximo pinned Diablo Santiago with the Arm Trap Face First Power Bomb in 10:56

Match 6 - Samoa Joe vs Rhyno
Two proper man beasts facing off here tonight in a match that differed from most of the preceding ones. Here was no reverse ranas, no 450 splashes or corkscrews. What it did contain however, was IWA: NE's two biggest guys dishing it out. Samoa is an experienced submission wrestler, something the Man-Beast Rhyno felt up close tonight as the former RoH Champion put him in holds and locks. The ring shook several times, like when Joe nailed Rhyno with a double underhook faceslam, and when Rhyno hit with a spinebuster.
After almost ripping Rhyno's arm of with an armbar, Samoa picked him up and drilled him with the Island Driver for the win and the standing ovation from the crowd.

Samoa Joe pinned Rhyno with the Island Driver in 11:48

Match 7 - ROH Title Match - Austin Aries vs Alex Shelley

Unfortunately, these two are not a part of the IWA roster, because these two fought with tooth and nail today for the coveted prize around Aries' waist.
It didn't take long for the Generation Next to get involved, slamming a steel chair in Shelley's back. they were soon attacked by the Briscoes, and a veritable brawl ensued on the outside, drawing some of the attention away from the match itself. Aries escaped the shell Shock twice, and a vicous shot with a road sign once, as the Briscoes and Shelley desperately tried to take away the title from the Generation Next leader.
Aries is finally able to put Shelley in the Rings of Saturn, but the former Generation Next leader fights his way out of it, continuing his quest for the gold. However, his joy was cut short when Aries hit him with a reverse frankensteiner from the top rope, scoring the pin and retaining the belt in this excellent match.

Austin Aries pinned Alex Shelley with a top-rope Frankensteiner in 12:08

Main event - Triangle Match - James Gibson vs AJ Styles vs Eddie Guerrero

Marc De Mei came out and announced that in the main event, IWA's three biggest stars would fight it out in a triangle match. The pops just got louder and louder as they were introduced. 1 former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, a former 2 time NWA TNA World Champion, and a former WWE Champion!
Eddie started out against Gibson, and went for the 3 Amigos at once. Gibson got out of it and pushed Eddie into the turnbuckle, dragging him along and superplexing him to the ground. Styles, Guerrero and Gibson gelled together in perfect harmony, as the three of them chain-wrestled all over the ring, ending up in the middle, where all three of them delivered some stinging chops to each to see who could take the pain. Styles tried to hang back a bit, letting Gibson and Guerrero fight it out. Whenever someone hit a devastating move (like an electric chair drop from Gibson), Styles tried to make the cover. This quickly turned the crowd against him, but Styles didn't care, all he wanted was to take home the win here in the very first main event. Highlight of the match was when Gibson threw Styles over the ropes. Styles hung on, and Gibson tried to ram him out. Styles grabbed on to Gibson's head, pulling him out instead. He then pulled himself back in and dove out with a sommersault plancha! Gibson was out of it, and Styles slowly crept back into the ring. Eddie took AJ down with the 3 amigos, and went for the Frog Splash when AJ kicked the ref into the turnbuckle, causing Eddie to fall down. AJ got up and put Eddie in the Styles Clash to win this prestigious main event !

AJ Styles defeated Eddie Guerrero and James Gibson when he pinned Guerrero with the Styles Clash in 22:35
Rating: ****

Next month:
- Eddie Guerrero can't be to happy about this defeat, what will Latino Heat do about it?
- The Outcast Killaz has blamed Jimmy Rave(?!?!) for the loss against the SAT's and want a rematch with a neutral ref.
- Briscoes vs Generation Next vs Batts/Clark
- Randy Orton continues his crusade against the worthless indy wrestlers, this time against Nigel McGuinness
Critic of the DawnPosted on 02/06/05 at 16:36:19

Woo!  First fed posting on the boards using my rules!  I feel so... so proud!  <Sniff>

I'm defiantely liking your starting roster.  Lots of solid ROH workers in the midcard, with a few bigger names at the top of your card.  Can't wait to see where you take things here.  Are you running booked or unbooked?

Generation Next makes a statement about how far they've risen by demanding that IWA:NE give them their tag team titles right off the bat!  But here come the Briscoe Brothers to take them down in a match I'd love to see.  But GeNext gets the victory anyway, prompting praise from GeNext leader Austin Aries!  And here's Alex Shelley!  ROH Title defense tonight!  Damn, that's another match I want to see.  Good stuff.

Mikey Batts is robbed of a victory over Nigel McGuinness when the match goes to a time limit draw!  I'm not familiar with Batts or Hyde, but I do like Nigel McGuinness a lot - with some work on his fan interaction, he could be a big name sometime in the future.

Jimmy Jacobs defeats Jerrelle Clark!  HUSS!  HUSS!  HUSS!  Good choices for the participants in this match!  I'd love to see Jacobs get a good solid push and I THINK I can see where you're going to take things.  And Jerrelle Clark is just an amazing high flier.

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk, with Orton playing the anti-indy heel?  I'm intrigued.  Here's hoping Orton sticks with you for a good long time.

Outcast Killahz!  Woo!  And the SAT.  <Crickets chirp>  The Crown Jewel of the Embassy, Jimmy Rave, is the referee... but despite his bias, the Killahz STILL lose.  Gotta love that.  And it looks like there's trouble brewing in the Embassy, as Rave gets beaten down.  Interested to see where you take this.

Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno!?!  Damn, I want to see that match too!  Have I mentioned how much I like your roster?  I like it a lot.  This match is something of a dream match for me, with the resident monster from ROH going up against the monster from ECW.  Joe goes over, which I think he should, because he brings more to the table than Rhyno does, really.

Austin Aries defeats Alex Shelley to retain the ROH Title!  That'd certainly draw quite a few indy fans to your debut show, and the match ended up being the best of the night.  Pity neither of these guys are under contract.

Gibson vs. Styles vs. Guerrero in your main event?  Intriguing combination.  Gibson is so underrated that it hurts, Styles is an amazing athlete and high flier, and Eddie Guerrero can work pretty much any style as a face or heel and do it brilliantly.  Great heel work by Styles here, and it looks like Gibson carried a lot of the midmatch to excellent effect.  And Styles takes a page out of Eddie's book, cheating to win in an overall excellent main event.

Great show to start things off.  If there was a DVD with all of this on it, I'd order it in a heartbeat.

Keep up the good work.  Can't wait to see who you bring in.

Thank you! I decided to scrap my previous project (EWCW) and give your ruleset a try.

I booked the RoH title match (obviously), but did the rest unbooked. I think I may book some matches in the future, while most will be unbooked.

I chose the roster random, but my my database only consists of 'work rate people', that is Indy guys and the talented WWE and TNA guys (Benoit, Styles, Sabin yes, Christy Hemme, Snitsky and Kevin nash no)

Batts is Kidman's cousin, and a high-flyer. The ending was quite good, as he was actually in the middle of the pin attempt. I don't know Hyde either, but I will grab a CZW tape to take a look at him.

I appreciate your comments about my roster, I do quite like it myself. Since my database only consists of guys I would be happy with in the fed, I can use the 'm' button as well.

On a sidenote, Roderick Strong quit after the first card..  :(
