S-L-O-W Intros

Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 05/05/05 at 16:12:56

Hi all,

I installed that latest build yesterday (3b) and the intros are just incredibly slow.  I guess it's done this way for folks who use theme music to add to the excitement and give the tune a chance to get going.

Is there any way to speed this up?  I don't use themes and don't like to sit and wait like that.  If there's no way to speed it up, is the intro tweak the only difference with the new build?  If so, I'll definitely roll back to the old build.   >:(

Thanks

Did you check your match speed delay?

If I remember right it resets after you install the new program files.
Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 05/09/05 at 15:22:19

That's not it.  Match speed stayed the same.  The slowness issue only happens with the intros.  I went ahead and rolled back to the previous edition.

Does Oliver come here anymore?  Maybe he'll read this and answer.

I haven't seen Oliver in a while.. hopefully he's just very busy..

Actually, at this point it is better to contact me via e-mail at the copp@hexacon.de address as I'm on the road a whole lot and while I can reply to e-mail anywhere through a Blackberry device, I can't go to the Forums and/or post here at that time.

Download http://www.tnm7.com/downloads/intros.zip and unzip it to the PROGRAM folder.

Then open the file TNM.CNF in Notepad, move to the end without editing anything and the add the line:

HurryUpDuringEntrances=1

That should help.

Is there something in between? Without the "HurryUpDuringEntrances=1 " flag, it's too slow, but with the flag in place, there's no delay at all... is there a middle ground? Or something configurable that can be sped up or slowed down? Thanks!!!!

.....I may a complete and utter tool (and I haven't ruled this out) - but I can't seem to find "TNM.CNF", which folder is it in??
ZedjaPosted on 09/12/05 at 17:08:21

The "Program" folder mentioned above....

By default, WinXP hides file extentions of what it believes are known applications for your inconvenience.  There's a way to get it to knock that off, but I can't recall what it is off the top of my head.

I believe TNM.CNF is in the main TNM7SE file, not in the PROGRAMS file.

That said, I believe WinXP will think that TNM.CNF is a SpeedDial application by default.  To edit it, you need to open notepad and use that to open it.

In any Explorer Window (just open "My Computer, really):

Tools
Folder Options
"View" Tab

Select "show hidden files and folders"

Just for good measure, also DEselect:
"Hide Extensions for known file types"
AND
"Hide protected operating system files"

Just be careful not to delete files you "don't recognize," as they might be important.   ;D

But Eric is right, I think you need to browse to the tnm.cnf through notepad.

Jeff - it depends on your text speed setting in Options.
