Steve Corino pinned Hayabusa with the Old School Expulsion in 0:13:10.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Steve Corino retained the Television Title.)

Steve Corino had a hard time of it today in a routine TV title defense against
Hayabusa, which became difficult when Busa began targetting the cast of Corino
and working the arm relentlessly. Unlike many cast-bearing wrestlers in the
past, we have to give one nod Corinos way in that this injury is no doubt
legit, no way would someone like Brian Pillman allow Corino to be faking the
injury a mere two months later. Whether or not Corino removes it after the
injury is healed... but anyway, the match proved to be a tough one as Busa
stomped at the arm and applied submission hold after submission hold, working
the mat instead of using his famous aerial tactics. Corino had to be at his
wiliest and used it when they went to the ropes. Corino threw his arm back and
caught Busa right in the face with the cast, knowing the ref was standing at
the wrong angle to be certain he'd used the cast and not his elbow. A nice
piece of timing and positioning by Corino, the Old School Expulsion that
followed was nicer and, of course, NOBODY kicks out of that. Corino was told
later by Matt Hardy that his repeated use of the cast was going to get him into
trouble if he kept it up, and warned him not to use it in his next defense,
which might even be signed for next week.

Los Guerreros (Eddie Guerrero and Mando Guerrero) defeated
Low Ki and Rey Mysterio when M. Guerrero pinned Ki with the Mandosault in
          0:09:45.
Rating: **** 1/4

Eddie Guerrero has his title shot at Low Ki at Retribution, and has a win over
him tonight in tag action. It was supposed to be Eddie and Mando against Low
Ki and Kid Kash, but after Kash was annihlated last week by Ulf Herman, there
was no way he was going to make this one. Eddie kicked off things by mocking
Low Ki since he had no other friends and would have to do this one alone. Cue
Rey Mysterio to even the sides up, and making Eddie curse and mutter under his
breath a lot. Rey and Low Ki weren't up to the same standard in tag work, not
being as experienced together, but their individual skills were more than
making up for it as they did a nice job on the Guerreros but some traditional
tag team chicanery, the cheap shot from the apron and illegal tags were enough
as they used a distraction while the referee reprimanded Rey Mysterio - Low Ki
had the cover but Eddie hit a legdrop onto the back of the head, Mando hit the
Mandosault and victory was assured.

Chris Jericho pinned Rodney after an Asai moonsault in 0:03:38.
Rating: **

Chris Jericho has been named as number one contender to Brad Armstrongs
Intercontinental title. After beating Brad by DQ last weeks, the rematch was
quickly signed for Retribution. Jericho was a little perplexed by events today
as he came to the ring unscheduled, saying he'd been sent a message to be out
here at this time. Brad Armstrong then came out and stood by the curtain and
told that "roody poo candy ass" Jericho that he really wanted to "lay the
smackdown on him" but "the peoples hamstring was playing up" so he had found
the most vicious and violent wrestler in the world. Cue... Rodney. Now
announced as being from "Greenwich, Conneticut... the hellish part", Rodney
didn't take long to fall. Armstrong realised he'd been duped, claiming he
thought this was Rodney Mack, and gave the beaten Rodney the Rock Bottom as
he staggered back up the ramp. Armstrong stated that Jericho might have gotten
lucky this time but at Retribution... lay smackdown, candyass, shine boot up,
turn sideways, smell what Rock is cooking. Well, he's certainly now got the
interviews and catchphrases to a tee, but he'll have to wrestle like The Rock
if he's to retain his title against the likes of Chris Jericho.

Kurt Angle pinned Christian York with the Olympic Slam in 0:06:37.
Rating: *** 1/4

Kurt Angle continues to be thwarted in his wishes every week. He would be
taking a lot of frustrations out today on his opponent for the night, Christian
York. York, Angle said, is one of Matt Hardys boys and Hardy is Shanes main
man, so hurting York would be hurting the two men making a mockery of his
career. What did he mean? It seems his continuing desire to not face Rob Van
Dam at Retribution is ever being scuppered. RVD's... how shall we say, smoking
buddies Edge and Christian visited Angle with a message from the DWFs rarely
seen (but quite often heard) Shane McMahon saying that he'd spoken to RVD and
apparently this "agreement" that Angle and Van Dam had last week in which
Angle would get out of the match was, as we suspected, worthless as Rob had
absolutely no idea what Angle was talking about - no doubt he can't remember
a lot from that day, or any other days.

With that match then still on, Angle took it to Christian York (not to be
confused with the aforementioned Christian - he and Edge delivered that message
to Angle before going into a bizzare digression on the Vietnam War that not
even Angle quite understood, instead telling the "dirty filthy Canadian scum"
to leave him alone). York actually put up a hell of a fight, much more than we
could have possibly envisaged. Angle was always going to win, of course, but
credit to York for keeping Angle on his toes like he did. Still, one quick
duck and the Olympic Slam before York even had time to blink and think about
what was happening was all it took.

Don Muraco pinned Jody Fleisch with the Tombstone in 0:00:39.
Rating: *

Matt Hardy is far from done with Jody Fleisch. Still angry at Fleisch' decision
to have Don Muraco take on Jerry Lynn at Retribution for the title, Hardy had
some interesting logic - Fleisch brought him back, it's only fitting he should
be his first opponent. Hardy, it seems, is set more and more on getting
Fleisch out of the DWF. Whatever Fleisch was thinking we never got a chance to
know as Muraco was a man on a mission. He started the match off by thanking
him for the opportunity and he was sorry that he was going to have to do this,
before breaking him apart, dropping him on his head and pinning him in under a
minute. It was a massacare, a total mismatch, plain and simple. Muraco wasn't
about to call it a night though, grabbing a mic again and saying he WASN'T
sorry for what he was about to do next, and proceeded to give Fleisch another
Tombstone Piledriver.

Muraco continued, saying he isn't sorry for anything he's doing and if he was,
he wouldn't be the next world heavyweight champion that he is. Jerry Lynn
interrupted proceedings by rushing to the ring with a baseball bat in hand.
Muraco saw him coming well in advance and slipped out calmly with a big smile
on his face. Lynn noted that he wasn't out here to save Jodys ass, but he does
realise how the match at Retribution will change the face of the DWF forever,
one way or the other. For years, Lynn has claimed to be the man to beat in
order for anyone to be anything, and that victory over him ensured guarenteed
success and fame, but now he said, there were two men in the DWF with such
superstar status - him and Muraco, and there was only room for one of them in
this company. Retribution, said Lynn, could and SHOULD be the end for one of
them. Knowing Lynn like we do - that is to say we never can tell exactly what
his motivations for doing anything are - he REALLY means that, and intends to
end Muracos career if he can. If anyone can, the twisted mind of Jerry Lynn
just may be able to.

Pretty Perfect (Owen Hart and Curt Hennig) defeated
The Syndicate (Lance Storm and Ken Shamrock) when C. Hennig defeated Shamrock
by countout in 0:11:38.
Rating: *** 1/2
(The Syndicate retained the Intercontinental Tag Team Titles.)

Pretty Perfect were aghast to discover what they thought was a great idea at
the time ended up backfiring on them. Their pleas to be rewarded with a tag
title shot ended up with them not quite getting what they wanted - a shot at
the Intercontinental tag team titles against The Syndicate. A title shot is a
title shot, right? Not in Pretty Perfects mind. To them, it's the tag titles or
nothing. After a very hard fought tag match in which both teams showed some
class tag team wrestling, it degenerated into the inevitable brawl which the
ref couldn't control. Owen Hart slithered to the outside during this and
grabbed one of the belts and nailed Ken Shamrock in the back of the head. Curt
Hennig then proceeded to throw Shamrock out of the ring, and while Storm
checked on his fallen partner, Pretty Perfect won the match by a countout when
a pinfall would have surely been just as easy.

Owen Hart gave their version of events though - they didn't want the IC tag
belts, didn't care for them, were not interested, BUT by beating them this
would surely help leapfrog everyone else and make them number one contenders
for the world tag team titles. When they spoke to Matt Hardy after the match
their world would crumble when Matt informed them that his plan was for the
two sets of tag team champions to meet the night after Retribution in a steel
cage for the title - a match Pretty Perfect would have gotten if they'd pinned
Shamrock out there. Their protests fell on deaf ears and that was that. Hardy
later stated that unlike Jody Fleischs sham of a show, his tag champions
versus tag champions match would produce a deserving winner and deserving
champions. Not that Fleisch had any control over the outcome at Clash... come
to think of it, Matt seems so preoccupied with Jody Fleisch these days, you
have to wonder if he's booking with a full deck of cards, if that makes any
sense.

La Parka Jr. pinned Juventud Guerrera with the Asai Moonsault Bodyblock in
          0:06:19.
Rating: *** 3/4

Finally Hunter Hearst Helmsley was at ringside for the show again with another
local hooker on tow. He remained dignified all evening until his old nemesis
La Parka was in action. Dominating proceedings against Juventud Guerrera, he
went to the outside and started shaking his knees at Helmsley. Helmsley became
agitated as La Parka strutted at him and even more so when he danced and played
air guitar. La Parka would go on to win the match but Helmsley was annoyed at
La Parka, and told him so again after the match, calling him a low, common,
pathetic, degrading excuse of a peasant who wasn't worthy of the time of such
a man of class. La Parka tried to look sad - sort of hard when you've got a
skeletons face painted onto your mask, as he bowed his head and walked away.
That was, naturally, a rouse. Helmsley regained his composure again, while La
Parka grabbed a fans drink from ringside and hurled it at Hunter. Not wanting
to ruin his brand new Armani, Helmsley ducked and his hooker took the brunt of
the soft drink. With a slap to the face, she walked off, leaving Hunter
humiliated. He'd have been even more embarassed if he'd seen La Parka shaking
his knees at him all the while.

Ulf Herman and Alex Wright defeated Los Villanos (Villano IV and Villano V)
when Herman pinned Villano IV with the Power Bomb in 0:05:05.
Rating: *** 3/4

Alex Wright is once again pushing the limits of good taste with his actions
from today. First a little tag team action as he and Ulf Herman teamed up for
the first time proper (ignoring the World Cup match where Herman only ran in at
the end for a DQ). Los Villanos were the opponents, really just to warm them
up rather than actually challenge them. Wright stayed in himself for the
opening few minutes getting most of the offence against both men, no surprises
there, then tagged in his big bodyguard who finished one of the Villanos off
without breaking too much of a sweat.

Had they left it at that, they could have made their point, given something for
Dynamite Kid to think about ahead of Retribution and that would have been that.
Oh no, they weren't done. Wright stated that ever since he burned the American
flag in the ring nearly six months ago, he'd become the most hated man in
America today, getting hate mail and death threats every day, hence the need
for Ulf to be there. Wright said that if there was another country that
sickened him as much as America, it was the U.K. and sure enough, they
produced a Union Jack that they proceeded to burn in the ring, whilst Wright
said something in German that we couldn't understand - we probably wouldn't
want to. Dynamite wasn't about to intervene as he surely would have, still
taking time off to recover after the attack Wright and Herman laid on him a
little while ago but he will be at Retribution and he will be fuming.

Sean O'Haire pinned Billy Kidman with the Seanton Bomb in 0:13:39.
Rating: *** 3/4

As if things couldn't go from bad to worse for Billy Kidman, they just have.
The world title he prized so much snatched away from his grasp, just a few
weeks away from stepping into the ring with a crazed lunatic in Brian Pillman,
and now he flies back home tonight perhaps not knowing the damage that's been
done, all whilst having suffered another defeat. Whilst he's far from being
on a losing streak, his loss today to Sean O'Haire will be a big dent in
Kidmans pride. O'Haire meanwhile continues to gather momentum and whilst he
may be one half of the tag team champions, he's obviously got one eye on Kurt
Angle with a little bit of revenge still to be gotten. With the impending
Pillman/Kidman clash, it was somewhat natural to see Pillmans fellow tag team
champion O'Haire go after him to soften him up somewhat - he did more than
that, he defeated him, 1-2-3, no questions asked.

O'Haire is a man on the verge of the world title himself if this sort of form
continues. Kidman was still smarting from the Elimination Chamber back at Clash
of the Champions and his normal speed and agility which we didn't get to see
last time out against Lance Storm is still a little lacking while he recovers.
O'Haire was simply able to out manouvere him at every turn and use his power to
overcome him. Not that Kidman was easy picking, the former champion had his
fair share of control but one big powerslam from O'Haire left Kidman beat in
the middle of the ring. The Seanton Bomb was all she wrote and a big win for
O'Haire. Things would take a sinister turn as while O'Haire has his emotions
perfectly in tact, Brian Pillman is less stable and charged to the ring to get
himself a little some, smacking Kidman with a chair. Worse for Kidman, he got
hit in his arm that was leaning on the ringpost at the time as he tried to get
his breath back on the arena floor. Kidman immediately dropped clutching his
arm and obviously in some distress. We know what Pillman did to the arm of
Steve Corino, could lightning have struck twice?

O'Haire seemed a little baffled by this and went after Pillman to calm him
down. Perhaps he felt all that needed to be done has already gone down, but
Pillman didn't care, staring at Kidman with his wide eyes, you could tell he's
far from through yet.

Corino using the cast like any good heel with a cast would!  He's having a nice little reign as the TV champ, he is.

Mando pins Low-Ki!  Those crazy Guerreros are going to get the Cruiserweight Title off of him yet, which I think is good.  Low-Ki really doesn't seem to have much of a character or direction or anything.

Brad Armstrong is so damn awesome in DWF.  He can't hold that IC Title long enough if you ask me.  Though the rematch with Jericho should be a good one.

Pothead RVD rules.  And it rules even more that Angle thought he got out of the match but didn't because Shane McMahon deemed RVD too stoned to make his own decisions. :)

Don Muraco absolutely demolishes Jody Fleisch.  Not a whole lot of graditude from the big lug, eh?

Pretty Perfect beat the IC tag champs by countout, want title shot, not getting it.  Are you unifying the tag titles?  I hope so.  Two tag team titles always seems like too much, IMO.

La Parka abuses hookers!  And dances whilst doing it!  Hell yeah!

DWF... TNM's main source of flag burning.  Hell yeah.  Alex Wright rules.

Sean O'Haire beats Billy Kidman clean!  It's looking like both members of the World Tag Team champions are wanting a World Title shot, which could lead to a whole lot of chaos.  Especially with Pillman's lack of stability, I think he'd gladly take out his partner for his shot at the gold.

Cheers for the feed. Unfortunately (for you) I'm not unifying the tag belts. The reason I brought them in was because I've got a lot of tag teams (old school!) and with my tendancies to book long title reigns usually, most teams weren't even getting a look in so the belts are mostly just there to keep other teams warm in the interim (occasionally I'll base some sort of angle around them, ala Kidman & Corino a few months back and something else I have in mind right now).
