americamamushiPosted on 01/16/05 at 04:21:19

*BOOM! BOOM! Loud fireworks shoot off from the entrance ramp as the fans in the Gaylord Entertainment Center go nuts in anticipation of the night to come.*

Welcome to DCW Blizzard 2005!!  What a huge night we have for the second pay-per-view ever in the history of Diamond Championship Wrestling!  Tonight we've got eight incredible matches lined up including a re-match between Raven and Jimmy Jacobs, the crowning of the first ever DCW Tag Team champions, which includes the debut of three new teams, and a triple threat match between Hulk Hogan, Gene Snitsky, and Rick Steamboat for the World Heavyweight title!

Charlie Haas vs. Hardcore Holly

In a match that literally was made less than an hour ago, Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas faced off to kick off the PPV.  President Berry made this match tonight on Rapid Fire because of the blow-up between the two in the locker room after losing to the Dudley Boys last week on Brute Force.  These two were apparently still pretty ticked off at each other too because they went at each other like two bats out of hell.  The first part of the match was too pretty.  Alot of brawling, not much wrestling.  Haas brought wrestling into the match after realizing that in a battle of the fists alone he probably wasn't going to come out on top against Hardcore who had been dominating the slugfest thus far.  Once Haas and Hardcore started wrestling, things came more to Haas' favor.  Hardcore managed to fight his way out of the Haas of Pain.  After fighting out of it Hardcore tried going back to brawling, rocking Haas with a few rights and lefts that knocked him down fast.  Hardcore decided to go a little high risk and went up top, waiting for Haas to get back up.  Taking a page of Rick Steamboat's book he went for a Flying Cross Body Block (which was nowhere near as pretty), but Haas rolled through with the move for a quick three.

Charlie Haas pinned Hardcore Holly after a rollover in 0:16:22.
Rating: *** 1/4

Haas got out of the ring fast.  Good idea since Hardcore had a look on his face like he was going to rip someone's head off.

Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals: The Dudley Boys vs. The Orient Express

This match saw the first debut of the three new tag teams.  A new version of the Orient Express came out which featured Kenzo Suzuki teaming with the Great Sasuke.  The Orient Express didn't receive much crowd support.  Likely alot of this was due to the fact that Kenzo was not a crowd favorite in time in the WWE and the Great Sasuke is a name unknown to a majority of American fans.  Both men put on a good show against the Dudleys though.  They were near as crisp as a team as the Dudleys are, but it was a good match.  The mix of Kenzo's more strike based wrestling and Sasuke's tendancy to more high flying moves gave the match a great variety.  Bubba & D-Von didn't give Sasuke much chance to get high spots off, though Kenzo did level both men with successive savate kicks.  The Orient Express ended up getting put away the same way that so many teams before them have, with a Dudley Death Drop.

[Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals]
The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) defeated The Orient Express (Kenzo Suzuki and Great Sasuke) when Bubba pinned Sasuke after the Dudley Death Drop in 0:18:42.

Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals: Rhythm & Soul vs. The Assassins

The last two teams to debut tonight faced off in the other semi-final match on the way to the title match later tonight.  We know now that they'll face the Dudley Boys.  The fans were first met with the team Rhythm & Soul, which consisted of Disco Inferno and Ernest Miller, both of who recieved minor heel pops.  Then out came the team of the Assassins, Assassin #1 and Assassin #2.  Some of the more old school wrestling fans would easily realize that this was not the original team of hard to discern, masked men.  These Assassins were about a full foot taller than the originals.  They each stand almost seven feet tall and weight at near 330lbs.  This encounter didn't last as long as the last and was largely dominated by the Assassins.  The crowd even got behind them.  It started as the crowd just not being behind Miller & Disco, but the Assassins seemed to encourage it and eventually this led to the crowd cheering and chanting for the Assassins.  Miller hit the Feliner on Assassin #2 and it didn't even seem to effect him!  Ernest and Disco were both stunned.  Ernest scurried to the corner to try and tag Disco, but he quickly jumped off the apron, not wanting anything to do with either of them after seeing that.  Assassin #2 picked Miller up and hit him with a tombstone piledriver for the pin.

[Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals]
The Assassins (Assassin #1 and Assassin #2) defeated
Rhythm & Soul (Ernest Miller and Disco Inferno) when Assassin #2 pinned E. Miller with the Tombstone Piledriver in 0:09:36.

There seems to be some kind of comotion in the audience.  It's... it's Jon Cena!  Cena is here!

*The camera shows Cena, who is dressed in black pants, a dress shirt with a black tie and has a black backpack on.  He also has a handfull of pamphlets.  The camera follows him a little bit as he hands out the pamphlets to members of the audience.  Most of these people drop the pamphlets laughing after Cena walks past.  The camera man zooms in on one of the dropped ones.  It is titled "You and Jehovah" and at the bottom says something about the "Church of Jehovah's Witnesses."  The camera cuts to a hype video of Steamboat/Hogan/Snitsky*

Crutch Match: Jerry Lynn vs. Kevin Nash

Another match made by President Berry after actions taken on Brute Force this past week.  It started with the discovery that Nash wasn't really as injured as he said he was, even though he decided to come out with crutches after the truth had been revealed.  He proceeded to win his match with Lynn thanks to a Crutch shot behind the ref's back.  Berry gave Lynn a shot at revenge against Nash tonight in a crutch match, where the crutch is a perfectly legal weapon.  Lynn went to work on Nash's legs early, though Nash would tend to quickly stop Lynn's attempts at taking out the legs.  Nash didn't get much chance to use a crutch as a weapon this time around though Lynn took full advantage of the situation.  Lynn tried to hit a cradle piledriver, but just couldn't do it.  That turned the tide in Nash's favor and eventually Nash would finish Lynn off with the Jackknife Powerbomb.

Crutch Match
Kevin Nash pinned Jerry Lynn with the Jackknife Power Bomb in 0:18:42.

*A pre-taped video is shown.  It shows short clips of matches featuring the Sheik, watermarked by the Syrian flag.  In each match it shows the Sheik beating up an American wrestler and it's usually a blood bath.  Then clips are shown from some old news footage from some random Middle Eastern country where they are burning American flags.  This fades to a slow motion clip of Sabu with arab headgear giving his trademark pose, pointing to the sky.  It fades to complete black and is followed by the fading in of the word "Sabu" which is shortly after accompanied on the top and bottom by more letters to read "Sheik Sabu Farhat"*

"The Insurance Policy" Jon Heidenreich vs. "The Monster" Abyss

The Heidenreich/Abyss feud seems to have transcended Raven's initial beef with Kevin Nash and has become something all it's own.  Abyss started things off by attacking Heidenreich before the bell.  He almost got himself DQed after latching on a chokehold.  After the referee got him to let go Heidenreich attacked with a chokehold of his own, almost getting himself DQed as well.  Heidenreich tried getting Abyss in a bearhug, but couldn't get a good enough grip on the Monster and his attempt was thwarted with a series of headbutts.  Heidenreich whipped Abyss into the ropes and tried to hit a big boot, but Abyss ducked.  Heidenreich quickly grabbed him before he could rebound of the ropes again and once again, whipped him across the ring into the ropes, this time he bounced off the ropes behind him and ran at Abyss for a clothesline, but counters it and hits the Black Hole Slam!!

Abyss pinned Jon Heidenreich with the Black Hole Slam in 0:13:16.
Rating: 1/4*

Abyss celebrated after his victory... or rather, stalked around the ring as the fans booed him.  Amazingly Heidenreich got up!  He ran at Abyss and hit him with a clothesline to the back of the head!  He picked Abyss up for the Insurance Form (F-5) but Abyss slid off, he whipped Heidenreich into the ropes.  Another Black Hole Slam!  It looks like Heidenreich landed flush on the back of his head on that one!

Tag Title Tournament Finals: The Dudley Boys vs. The Assassins

Both teams seemed to have a good shot at winning the vacant tag team titles tonight, though the favorites of the match still had to be the Dudley Boys.  After all, the fans are no strangers to the Dudley Boys in and out of the DCW.  The Assassins however, since they were obviously not the originals, could have just gotten a fluke win over Rhythm & Soul earlier.  It did seem that the Dudleys were more on top of the game than the Assassins were in this match up as far as working as a crisp and consice team, though the Assassins didn't seem to be strangers to the subtleties of the tag division themselves.  The Dudleys definently couldn't over power their opponents.  Assassin #1 managed to kick out after a Saving Grace by D-Von.  After that D-Von tried ripping the mask off of #1 with no success.  After that Assassin #1 took a couple kicks to the gut and punches to the face from D-Von that didn't seem to have one bit of effect on his and then got Choke Slammed out of no where.  Bubba tried to run in for the save after #1 went for the pin, but #2 got to him before he could get to D-Von.

[Tag Title Tournament Finals] Match for the vacant DCW World Tag Team titles The Assassins (Assassin #1 and Assassin #2) defeated The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) when Assassin #1 pinned
D-Von with the Choke Slam in 0:25:06.
Rating: ****
(The Assassins won the DCW World Tag Team titles.)

We have our first ever DCW tag team champions!  Here comes Ryan Niemiller, the TDA, down the ailse with the titles as Bubba Ray pulls D-Von out of the ring.  He gets in the ring and hands them to the Assassins.  The Dudleys are absolutely livid on the outside, but seem to be too scared of the Assassins to get in the ring and mix it up again.

"The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs vs. Raven

Jimmy Jacobs hussed his way down to the ring, but Raven ran out from behind the curtain early and attacked Jacobs from behind.  The brought Jacobs to the ring and rolled him in, prompting the ref to call for the opening bell.  Raven pretty much dominated Jacobs after gaining that advantage with the sneak attack.  Jimmy did manage to hit a big boot and a Hogan-esque leg drop on Raven for a two count, but Raven quickly brought the match back in his favor.  He threw Jacobs out to the floor and then followed him out.  He layed into Jacobs with some punches and banged his head into the guardrail and ring steps.  As the ref's count got up to seven he hit the Raven Effect onto the floor and rolled back in the ring as the ring counted the full ten.

Raven defeated Jimmy Jacobs by countout in 0:07:22.
Rating: **

After the ref awarded the match to Raven via countout Raven went back to the outside, picked Jimmy up slammed his head into the ring apron and rolled him back into the ring.  He reached under the ring and pulled out a small leather bag.  Jimmy is starting to stir in the ring.  Raven takes the bag and enters the ring.  He grabs the almost (barely) standing Jacobs and hits another Raven Effect.  He then opens the back and takes out an electric razor.  He proceeds, amongst the boos, to shave Jimmy Jacob's fuzzy boots.

Triple Threat Main Event for the DCW World Heavyweight title: Rick "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Gene Snitsky vs. Hulk Hogan

Hogan had his work cut out for him tonight.  He actually has to make the pin or submission to retain the title.  He can lose the title here tonight and not even be involved in the fall!  All three men have beef with each other after the past few weeks.  Hogan let Snitsky and Steamboat duke it out with each other for the first part of the match and just decided to hang back and watch the show.  He only interjected himself at near falls when he thought he might lose the belt, but quickly would exit the ring before either Snitsky or Steamboat could get him for breaking the fall.  Eventually the two got wise to Hogan's plan and ganged up on him, though this alliance was short lived and Snitsky soon took advantage of both men.  After Snitsky inadvertently knocked the ref out, Hogan went outside and grabbed a chair as Steamboat and Snitsky traded blows.  Steamboat saw Hogan enter the ring with the chair and pulled Snitsky in front of the blow, falling to the mat in the process.  Snitsky fell out of the ring and lay hurt on the floor as Hogan walked over to the ropes and jawed at Snitsky as he lay almost motionless on the floor, all the while the Dragon had positioned himself on the top-rope.  He threw the chair at Snitsky and took a couple steps backward.  He turned around and turned right into a Flying Cross Bodyblock by Steamboat!

[Main Event]: Triangle Match
Rick Steamboat defeated Gene Snitsky and Hulk Hogan when Steamboat pinned Hogan with the Flying Cross Body Press in 0:49:05.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Rick Steamboat won the DCW World Heavyweight title.)

The PPV goes off the air with Ricky Steamboat celebrating to the cheers of the fans.

Haas over Holly to start things out.  Good.  Holly is up there on the list of wrestlers who do nothing for me.  He's just too... grumpy... for me to care much about.  Haas, on the other hand, is a talented youngster who has a lot of potential.  Glad to see the right man went over.

Kenzo Suzuki.  Hah!  Great Muta!  Woo!  Damn you!  Now I don't know whether to like or hate the team!

So the Assassins are 'Taker and Kane, yes?  Or else The Harris Twins are stealing their finishing moves.

Cena finds Jesus!  Yes!  I mark out for lame preacher gimmicks!

Nash over Lynn.  Some people seemed sure that Lynn was going to go over.  I knew better.  You gave the belt to Hogan on your first show, which just goes to show that you're booking things somewhat realistically.  And Lynn defeating Nash... just isn't too likely.

Job, Heidenreich!  Job!

The Brothers of Destruc... er... The Assassins take the tag team titles after no-selling everything the Dudleys can throw at them.  I like that.  It builds up nicely to an eventual Dudley title victory.  Good stuff.

Raven over Jacobs.  See my Nash/Lynn comments for why I knew Raven would win.  But Raven shaved Jacobs' boots!?!  Jacobs is gonna get Bruiser Brody on Raven's ass for that!

Hulkamania runs wild on Gene Snitsky... and Steamer apparently waits for the Hulkster's magic Hulking Up power to run out so he can score with the Cross Body for the win!  Very nice, and booked fairly logically.  Hogan was looking positively heelish during this match!

HA! The boot shaving bit might just be the biggest stroke of genius in history. If that doesn't make Raven the biggest heel ever, nothing will.

Haas wins, but the feud is apparently not over.  Works for me.  I like both these guys.

Kenzo and Sasuke!  Woo!  Is this awesome singing Kenzo?  I hope it is.  Really no doubt that the Dudleys would win this one though.

Mysterious masked Assassins!  Oh the intrigue!  Ernest Miller rules though.  We want Lamont, dangit!

Cena is a creepy preacher!  Yahoo!

Nash beats Lynn... that sucks, but so it goes.

Well Heidenreich certainly got destroyed... during and after the match.  Won't get any arguments from me though.  I like Abyss.

The Assassins beat the Dudleys!  I'm going to assume it's 'Taker/Kane, but you could just be being a huge bastard. :)

RAVEN SHAVED HIS BOOTS!  He's the most heeliest heel that ever heeled!  Jimmy is gonna be pissed!

Steamboat wins! BOO!  I wanted it to be Snitsky. :(  A good finish though, and Hogan looked good in losing, and Steamboat should make a good champion.

Oh, and you owe me GCW feedback, whore! :)

First of all Mushi, this is my favorite circuit for the time, even though you use a lot of hosses  ;D
I am very impressed by the ratings received for your matches.. Nash in a **** ?
Kane and Taker seems like a plausible idea.. Matt Morgan also has the ChokeSlam.. It isn't like you to be that obvious  ;)

Sabu as an American hating heel? I gotta see this!

Cena finding Jesus? You mean Aaron Aguilera Jesus ?  ;D

Shaving the boots... brilliant..
