EWCW Dynamite - 01.11.05

rey619Posted on 01/11/05 at 23:07:50

*Editor's Note*
All wrestlers and non-wrestlers for this circuit was picked randomly, since I always tend to use the same wrestlers and wanted some variation. In some cases I was happy, in others, not so. But I will just try to run with it and make it entertaining.

Honolulu, Hawaii
The show opens with pyro and drumrolls as the two investors enter the ring. Led by Torrie Wilson, Trish Stratus and Rena Mero is ... Ric Flair and Antonio Inoki!
RF: Whoooo! Welcome to East-West Championship Wrestling, where the stars of the west, and the stars of the east meet!
AI (*have no idea if he speaks English): For this opening show, we will see the top 8 stars of our promotion in a tournament to crown the very first EWCW Heavyweight Champion.
RF: Well, the two of us are of course the two biggest stars, but we decided to leave the tournament for younger stars. Whoooo!
AI: The tournament consists of 4 Americans, and 4 Japanese. Tonight, the first two rounds will be held, and the final will be next week.
RF: Good luck to all of you back there, and may the best American win!
Inoki gave Flair a dirty look, but Flair just "whoooed" his way out of the arena, Trish Stratus in tow, as Torrie Wilson took her place as a timekeeper.

Round 1 - AJ Styles vs Manabu Nakanishi

The American crowd was pleased that the Phenomenal AJ Styles was one of the
participants in the Heavyweight Tournament, and the Japanese as much so when
they found out his opponent was Manabu Nakanishi!
Styles was able to fight the weight advantage with a series of fast-paced
moves, before the packed Nakanishi set the youngster in place with a side
suplex, referee Marcus Roth counting a 2. Nakanishi grounded Styles, keeping
him down to the mat with suplexes and stiff kicks to the legs, preventing
Styles from flying. AJ was then put in the Argentine backbreaker, but the
valiant youngster wouldn't yield, and after 45 seconds he fought his way out
of it and hit Nakanishi with a reverse neckbreaker for the win in this tremendous
opening match of EWCW.

AJ Styles pinned Manabu Nakanishi after a reverse neckbreaker in 0:09:14.

Round 1 - Jeff Jarrett vs Tajiri

Next out was another former TNA mainstay, King of the Mountain Jeff Jarrett
taking on the Japanese Bussaw, Tajiri!
Jarrett brought his trademark guitar into the ring, causing ref Shintaro
Nakamura to remove it, allowing Jarrett to low blow Tajiri to provide for
an early advantage. JJ suplexes Tajiri a couple of times before a fistdrop
gave him a near fall. JJ followed up with a swinging neckbreaker, before
Tajiri retaliated, sending out kicks and chops to send Jarrett out of the
ring. Tajiri launches into a plancha, but Jarrett moves out of the way,
sending Tajiri sprawling. Tajiri slowly gets up, but is on the receiving
end of a guitar shot from Jarrett. 1..2.. Tajiri puts his foot on the rope.
Jarrett cannot believe this, and tries to force the ref to ring the bell.
Tajiri gets up and goes for the Kick of Death, but Jarrett ducks and counters
it with the Stroke for the win.

Jeff Jarrett pinned Tajiri with the Stroke in 0:10:55.

(Commercial break)
After the break, we see Jeff Jarrett on the phone backstage, talking to someone on the phone.
JJ: So you are coming, right? Great! Too bad the old timers didn't put you in the tournament. *Jarrett sees the camera* Hey, get that away from here. This is a restricted area, is it not?
Camera guy: Actually, no.
JJ: Well, it should be. No git!

Jado/Gedo vs Kaos/Sabian
A short break from the Heavyweight Title tournament with a tag match, featuring
Jado and Gedo versus the team of Kaos and Sabian, formerly of CZW.
The Japanese try to wear down their opponents with holds, while Kaos and
Sabian go for high risk maneuvers and suplexes. Sabian tries to use their
own tactics against the Japanese, applying a half-boston on Jado. The experienced
Jado quickly reaches the ropes. He then tags Gedo, and together they give
Sabian a huge double lariat that makes the Clothesline from Hell look like
a schoolgirl slap. Kaos brings a fire extinguisher into the ring, but the
whole plan backfires as Gedo smashes him with it, setting up the Jado bomb
from his partner to take home this victory.

Jado and Gedo defeated Kaos and Sabian when Jado pinned Kaos with the Jado Bomb
in 0:11:32.

Round 1 Kenzo Suzuki vs Shelton Benjamin

As Suzuki was making his way to the ring, accompanied by Hiroko, Antonio Inoki made his way out to ringside, quite upset. Neither the ref, Shelton, Hiroko or Kenzo seemed to be aware of the reason for Inoki's anger.
AI (in Japanese): What is the meaning of this? Who are you?
H (angry): He is the Bronze Warrior, Kenzo Suzuki! Now, stop interrupting the match.
AI: The WHAT??
At this point, Rena Mero makes her way out, whispering something in Inoki's ear. Inoki gets even more angry, yelling at Mero in Japanese, sending her back.
AI: It seems that my less than competent secretary has managed to hire someone named Kenzo Suzuki instead of KENSUKE SASAKI!  Well, it is too late now anyway, go ahead and wrestle, if you can!

The Heavyweight tournament continued with Shelton Benjamin facing Kenzo
Suzuki, even though it really should have been Kensuke Sasaki...
Kenzo starts working on Shelton with various clawholds, causing the ref to
object when Kenzo tries to rip Shelton's nose off. Kenzo sends Shelton into
the ropes, where Hiroko conveniently pulls it down, causing Shelton to fall
to the outside. Kenzo follows SHelton, but is sent head first into the
guardrail. Shelton gives Kenzo several punches, before Hiroko jumps on
Sheltons back, causing him to slam her down to the floor. Shelton checks
on Hiroko, and Kenzo uses the distraction to send Benjamin sprawling into
the ringpost.
The match continues in the ring, where Shelton almost pins Kenzo after a
Northern Lights. Shelton misses a kneedrop, allowing Kenzo to deliver some
stinging chops to Sheltons chest. Finally, Shelton has had enough, attacking
Kenzo with a flurry of punches before he picks him up in the T-Bone for the
win.

Shelton Benjamin pinned Kenzo Suzuki with the T-Bone in 0:11:16.

Round 1 - Mark Jindrak vs Masahiro Chono

The last match in the first round of the tournament was between Mark Jindrak
and Masahiro Chono. Jindrak showed off his muscular abdomen to Chono with a
seductive danced, but Chono was less than impressed, giving Jindrak a big
shoulderblock to send him to the ground. Jindrak quickly retaliates, giving
Chono several suplexes and slams to make the fans wonder if this relatively
nobody in professional wrestling could make the upset here against Chono.
Jindrak really has the advantage, before CHono is able to gain his second
wind after a vicious Yakuza kick. Jindrak quickly recovers, giving Chono
the Mark of Excellence, which Chono kicks out off.
At one point in the match, Chono actually knocked out the ref, causing his
fellow Japanese ref to give him some very nasty Japanese curse words, and
allowing Jindrak to give Chono a clothesline. Jindrak, despite being the
dominant man in this match, giving Chono a total of 3 Mark of Excellences,
could not prevent the Japanese iron man to finally lock in the STF, causing
Jindrak to lose consciousness. The crowd gave Chono a standing ovation after
this match.

Masahiro Chono defeated Mark Jindrak when Mark Jindrak passed out in the STF in
0:19:19.

(Commercial)
We go backstage, where AJ is relaxing in his locker room. Jimmy Rave, AJ's protege walks in.
JR: Congrats on your win AJ. How do you think you'll do against Jeff Jarrett, the guy who held you down in TNA?
AJ: Don't fohget ah've beaten him before.
JR: Yeah, true, but he has an advantage, you know. The guitar.
AJ (gets up angrily): Don't you have anything bettah to do? Like preparing for your own match.
JR (raises his hands in surrender): Sorry, only wanted to help you.

David Young vs Jimmy Rave

Before the 2nd round matches of the tournament, David Young faced Jimmy Rave
here tonight. Rave, the protege of AJ Styles was over 70 pounds lighter than
the Master of the Spinebuster, but managed to cope quite well. Trish Stratus
also debuted as a ref in this match.
Young had the advantages in the early goings, even competing with Rave on
a high flying basis, hitting the youngster with an Asai Moonsault for
a 2 count. Young tried to chokeslam Rave, but Rave countered it with a stunner
and hit a DDT on Young to make the crowd go crazy. Young needed to regain
his momentum, and clotheslined Rave over the ropes. Trish then counted to
13 before climbing back in again. Soon after, Ric Flair makes his way down to the ring, temporarily stopping the match.
RF (to Trish): Whaddya think you're doing? THe count is supposed to stop at 10, you stupid bitch! I knew we shouldn't have made you a ref, you obviously don't know anything!
At this point, Trish slaps Ric, causing Nature Boy to run after her. He is stopped by both Rave and Young.
RF: Get your hands off of me, or I'll fire you both.
Antonio Inoki appears on the screen.
AI: Ric.. Ric.. relax.. remember we agreed that I should decide upon the countout rules? I decided the ref's could count to 20. Nobody wants a countout victory.
RF: What? Are you crrrrazy? 20? What kind of idea is that? Something you stole from Sumo wrestling or something?
AI: Ric, shut up and let the guys continue their match!
RF: WHoooooo! 20 my ass.... (walks angrily out)

Rave is a little distracted by this, and is surprised by a Spinebuster. Rave
kicks out, leaving Young baffled. Rave hits the Gravity Killer for the win.

Jimmy Rave pinned David Young with the Gravity Killer in 0:12:58.

Round 2 - AJ Styles vs Jeff Jarrett

As Jeff Jarrett makes his way down to the ring with his guitar, Antonio Inoki comes out, telling Jarrett to stop.
JJ: What is it now old man? Don't you see I have a match to win?
AI: Put away that guitar, Jarrett. Do you need for anything particular? Can you even play it?
JJ (looking down on his guitar): Well.. yeah I can play a guitar.
AI: But that isn't a real guitar, is it? It's made of cardboard or something?
JJ: Well...
AI: Its only purpose is to hit people in the head with, right?
JJ (looking embarrassed and caught red-handed): Well.. sort of...
AI: Well, give it here. You can have it back at the end of the show. (JJ reluctantly gives away the guitar).

Both men had fought hard earlier on, and were still sweaty after their matches.
The match quicklyspilled outside, where AJ pursued Jeff around the ring in
a somewhat hilarious chase, where both men changed direction several times,
finally ending when AJ hid and Jarrett ran right into a clothesline.
AJ sent Jarrett back into the ring where he performed the Styles Clash on
him. As he was about to make the pin, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash made their
way down to the ring with guitars. AJ got up from Jarrett, waving a finger
at the Outsiders (or Kings of Wrestling if you want).
AJ: Not again, you're not doing this again!
The referee warns them about doing anything, just as Jarrett low blows AJ
and gives him the Stroke to win the match and advance to next week's title
match.

Jeff Jarrett pinned AJ Styles with the Stroke in 0:08:37.
Rating: ****

The Kings of Wrestling/Outsiders/nWo went into the ring and congratulated Jarrett on his win.
JJ: That's right people, the Kings of Wrestling is back!
KN: That's what we do. We take over control. Everything, from matches, to booking, to management, to production. Hell, we even take over the girls (looking at Torrie the timekeeper).
SH (concerned): What, are we doing that shit again? Isn't that starting to get really old by now?
JJ: What do you mean Scott?
SH: I just.. I don't want to take over anymore. I'm sick of taking over.
KN: You don't know what you're saying Scott. We run this place now.
SH: Everytime we take over, it means title matches for you Kevin Nash, and for Jeff Jarrett or Hulk Hogan or whatever main eventer we ally with. I don't get anything from taking over. Well.. except for the girls..
KN: You're not taking over?
SH: Sorry guys.. I'm not taking this shit anymore.
(Scott Hall turns around and is ready to leave the ring when Kevin Nash clocks him in the head with a guitar).
KN (to Jarrett): That will teach him a lesson.
Nash lifts up Hall again, and Jarrett clocks him with another guitar. Suddenly AJ Styles comes running back in with a guitar of his own. Jarrett and Nash are not intimidated.
JJ: You're trying to hit us with our own tactic, is that it?
AJ: Yeah, but the difference is.. this is a REAL guitar!
Nash and Jarrett quickly gets out of the ring as AJ swings wildly with his real guitar.

(Commercial, much needed after this... )

Round 2 - Shelton Benjamin vs Masahiro Chono

One contender was already decided, but would Jarretts opponent be Shelton
Benjamin or Masahiro Chono? Shelton tried another approach with Chono,
extending his hand instead of his belly. Chono shook his hand, and the match
started with a lock up, which resulted in CHono taking down Shelton with a
vertical suplex. Several pin attempts from both men in the beginning, as
Shelton was powered down with a power bomb, but kicked out and managed to
take Chono down with a Northern Lights Suplex. Both men fall out of the ring
as Benjamin isn't able to stop a clothesline attempt. After a brief battle
outside, they roll back into the ring where CHono catches Shelton by surprise,
catching him with the STF. However, Benjamin is way too close to the ropes.
Benjamin escapes yet another power bomb, and locks Chono in a short arm scissors,
forcing Chono against the ropes. Benjamin sends Chono down with a bodyslam,
followed by a DDT, before CHono counters a suplex attempt with a bulldog
and locks in the STF again. Benjamin tries to summon his energy, but has
to give in. As Benjamin shakes Chono's hand after the match, Kevin Nash and
Jeff Jarrett enters, staring down Chono. Jarrett points to around his waist,
making it clear that the belt is his.

Masahiro Chono made Shelton Benjamin submit to the STF in 0:11:07.

Join us next week to find out who will be crowned the first EWCW Heavyweight Champion. Also on the card:
AJ Styles vs Kevin Nash (will AJ be able to work Nash to a decent match?)
Jado/Gedo vs Shelton/Tajiri
+ more to come
CarlzillaPosted on 01/12/05 at 13:46:20

Chono = leaps and bounds better than Jarrett...I hope he wins.

I'm sad that Nakanishi lost, but there's some consolation in the fact that AJ Styles is not Jeff Jarrett, or some lame ass overpushed WWE wrestler.
rey619Posted on 01/12/05 at 14:03:21

Yeah, but don't forget the influence of Kevin Nash.. seriously, when my random method of choosing wrestlers gave me Hall, Nash and Jarrett I groaned.. hopefully I will give it a twist so that it won't be too much of the same old same old..
