DCW Rapid Fire (1/9/05)

americamamushiPosted on 12/31/04 at 23:06:43

It's possible that the January 10th edition of Brute Force will be up tonight, but no promises.  The website should be updated a little later seeing as how that'll only take a minute or two.

[hr]

Tonight on Rapid Fire we'll see the debut of two of DCW's newest wrestlers, former WWE star Ludvig Borga and Mexican wrestler Bestia Salvaje, who will wrestle Konnan in the main event in a 2-out-of-3 falls lucha libre style match.  But right now, to start things off D'Lo Brown will take on Paul London, let's get down to the ring.

[hr]

D'Lo Brown vs. Paul London

Both Brown and London are coming off losses at the big PPV, Seasons Sleighings.  Brown lost to Hardcore Holly and London, along with tag partner Jerry Lynn, were defeated by the Dudley Boys in the first ever DCW tag team match.  Brown seemed to still be thinking about his match against Hardcore last week because he let London's high-flying combos and reversals frustrate him to no end, making many foolish mistakes in the process.  London went for a kick on D'Lo, but he caught it and make the mistake of not capitalizing on the position he now had London in.  After D'Lo wasted time by playing to the fans a little London nailed him with a hard enzuigiri.  D'Lo Brown, now stumbling around, barely still on his feet was then taken down with a picture perfect Northern Lights Suplex by London.

Paul London pinned D'Lo Brown after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:04:31.

Ludvig Borga vs. Garrison Cade

Borga seemed to be in great shape as his match with Cade started off and took a lot of punishment before Cade could actually knock him off his feet.  Borga managed to lock Cade in the Torture Rack (his finisher) several times, though each time Garrison broke out of the hold.  The crowd was easily behind Cade during this match, and given Borga's Finnish heritage a "USA" chant broke out towards the end when Garrison got on quite the roll finishing it off with the Flying Legdrop.

Garrison Cade pinned Ludvig Borga with the Top-Rope Legdrop in 0:14:15.

2-Out-Of-3 Falls Main Event (Lucha Libre Rules): Konnan vs. Bestia Salvaje

Anyone that knows lucha libre would have seen this as a classic and text-book example of how not all luchadore are about little guys flying and flipping all over the place and that it is much deeper than that.  Bestia and Konnan both had several near falls before Konnan scored the first fall via the Tequila Sunrise, one of which involved Konnan kicking out after Salvaje hit his finisher the Flying Senton.  The second and winning fall came shortly there after when Konnan hit Salvaje with a back heel kick and then a faceslam, which busted Bestia open.

[Main Event: Lucha Libre Rules]: Two-out-of-three-Falls Match
Konnan beat Bestia Salvaje 2 falls to 0:
x Konnan beat B. Salvaje via the Tequila Sunrise in 0:11:44
x Konnan beat B. Salvaje via a sitdown faceslam in 0:16:09
Rating: *** 3/4

Thats all for Rapid Fire.  Join us tomorrow on Brute Force when we'll see Raven and Jimmy Jacobs square off in a re-match from Seasons Sleighings.  Not to mention that Dan Severn will be back in action after taking a week off due to the brutality of his match with Cena at the PPV.  We'll see you there!

PAUL LONDON~!  'Nuff said, I reckon.

You have no idea how happy Ludvig Borga makes me.  it's a special kind of happy.  I was so pissed when he ended Tatanka's undefeated streak in the WWF.  So I will get a special kind of joy watching him get destroyed.

A cool main event in that it's something different wih the lucha libre rules.  Though your allowing Konnan to win matches makes me sad. :)
