Cerberos's Survivor Series

cerberosPosted on 12/24/04 at 07:10:37

Survivor Series comes on the air and we have a recap of the whole situation on Heat with the opening brawl, the officials leaving and a special ref being brought in for the big main event.  We then go to the ring for our opening match, the three way dance for the Cruiserweight Title.

This was an amazing match and an amazing way to start the show.  All three men were out for themselves and it showed.  Early on London missed a 450 to the floor and seemingly was out of the match but there are no count outs.  In the ring Scotty went for a flying DDT but Spike countered with a shot to the gut.  Spike quickly hit the Dudley Dog for the pin.  About this time Mathew, who had been banned from ringside, came out and checked on London.  Spike went to the floor and tried to get to London but Mathew stopped him.  Spike then kicked him low and hit a Dudley Dog off the ringpost.  London suddenly stood up and attacked Spike, sending him face first into the post.  In the ring London hit a somersault neckbreaker and then a second rope moonsault for the win and the title.

3-Man Battle Royal:
Paul London won a 3-man Battle Royal:
x Spike defeated Scotty 2 Hotty after the Dudley Dog in 0:06:21
x London defeated Spike after a moonsault from the second turnbuckle in           0:08:14
Rating: ****
(Paul London won the WWE Cruiserweight Title.)
[Mathew interfered against Spike Dudley.]

Mathew entered in the ring and embraced London.  The two men looked at each other for a moment and then Mathew put London on his shoulders and they paraded around like they won the world title.

In the back we see Christian entering into Eric Bischoff's office.

Christian:  Eric, the tag team match is next, who the hell is my partner?

Bischoff:  Don't you come into my office and start barking at me.  DO YOU KNOW WHO THE HELL I AM!  Don't you think I have more important things then your damn partner to deal with?  I don't even know who is going to be the official in the biggest match EVER!  GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE OR YOUR FIRED!  You will meet your partner in the ring.

We see that there are six teams in the ring.  Mark Henry and Matt Bloom, Matt Hardy and Maven, Hurricane and Rosey, the surprise team of Shelton Benjamin and Tajiri, La Resistance and Val Venis and Steven Richards.  Christian comes out and waits.  Rob Zombies starts as suddenly Edge comes out.  Christian looks freaked out as Edge grabs his brother and they run to the ring.  The battle royal was a good battle royal.  In the end it was the experienced team of Edge and Christian that won out.  After Val Venis was eliminated and Steven Richards had to leave the duo had a huge falling out.  They came to blows and fought through the crowd.  Finally Edge speared Benjamin and tossed him out give the old E&C team yet another tag team title reign.

14-Man Tag Team Battle Royal for the vacant World Tag Team Titles:
Edge and Christian won a 7-team Battle Royal:
x M. Henry defeated M. Hardy (partner: Maven) after a spinebuster slam           in 0:02:52
x Edge defeated Matt Bloom (partner: Mark Henry) after the Edgecution           in 0:04:10
x S. Benjamin defeated Rosey (partner: The Hurricane) after a crucifix           in 0:04:57
x Christian defeated Venis (partner: Steven Richards) after a vertical           facebuster in 0:05:43
x Edge defeated S. Grenier (partner: Robert Conway ) after a rolling             reverse cradle in 0:05:50
x Edge defeated S. Benjamin (partner: Tajiri) after a spear in           0:07:02
Rating: ** 1/2
(Edge and Christian won the World Tag Team Titles.)

In the back we see Paul Heyman with team Smackdown.  The locker room is basically lit so that all you can see is Heyman and the shadows of Team Smackdown.

Heyman:  Do you guys know what could happen tonight?  Should we lose tonight we could all lose our jobs.  Tonight we could lose EVERYTHING.  Tonight should we fall Smackdown will fall.  Tonight should we lose we do a disservice to the wrestling world.  Rey, Eddie, Rob, you all know me.  You know that I live, breathe and bleed wrestling.  You all know that I will do anything.  Mark, you don't like me but you know that I will do anything for this business.  I want all of you to look at each other.  Most of you don't like each other.  Hell there are some of you I don't like.  But tonight we have to work together.  Tonight WE, the eleven of us, hold the entire locker rooms lively hood in our hands.  Tonight don't think of yourselves.  Tonight don't think of me.  Tonight think of each other.  Remember, should we fall, we are all done.  You don't think Vince McMahon, the man that screwed Bret Hart, would hesitate to fire us.  We sink or swim right here.  Look around because they hold their career in their hands.  Remember that.

The camera zooms in on Heyman as we go to the ring where Tazz comments on how he has seen that look in Heyman's eye before.  April 13th, 1997.  Tonight Raw is in trouble.

In the ring we have the firs two members of the 8 team scramble match.  In a shocker the FBI, the current champions, fell to Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero.  The shocker however was that Rico and Charlie Haas defeated the Basham's, the Dudley's, Mark Jindrak and John Cena and finally Mordecai and Cerberos for the titles.

8-Team Tag Team Scramble:
Charlie Haas and Rico won an 8-team Scramble:
x Noble defeated Stamboli (partner: Nunzio) after a falcon arrow in
          0:01:36
x Noble defeated S. Moore (partner: Luther Reigns) after a side step                 in 0:03:05
x Doug Basham defeated Chavo (partner: Jamie Noble) after the Leg                   Lariat in 0:04:26
x Rico defeated Danny Basham (partner: Doug Basham) after a powerslam           in 0:08:47
x Haas defeated Bubba (partner: D-Von Dudley) after a Fujiwara armbar           in 0:05:22
x Haas defeated Jindrak (partner: John Cena) after the Crucifix                 Bomb in 0:07:08
x Rico defeated Cerberos (partner: Mordecai) in 0:08:02
Rating: ** 3/4
(Charlie Haas and Rico won the WWE Tag Team Titles.)
[Miss Jackie interfered against Doug Basham.]

Miss Jackie went to embrace Rico but Charlie caught her and laid a kiss on her.  Jackie at first seemed shock but then embraced Charlie back.

In the back we see Eric Bischoff with Team Raw and the rest of Raw's locker room.

Bischoff:  Unlike Smackdown I am going to address you all like men.  Tonight your careers aren't on the line because of Vince McMahon.  They are on the line because of me.  I swear to God that if Raw doesn't come out on top I will do EVERYTHING I can to make your lives a living hell.  I promise you that if you fail you better talk to Paul Heyman tonight because you will be NOTHING to me.  Now get out there and do you damn job, which is winning.

We see a video featuring the twenty men in the match.  We then see the entrance of Team Raw, which is all individual.  Then Team Smackdown comes out as a whole, including the Undertaker, along with Paul Heyman.  Our announcers are Tazz and JR.  The twenty men are facing off when suddenly glass shatters.

JR:  OH MY GOD!  IT IS STONE COLD AND HE IS WEARING A STRIPED SHIRT!  HE IS OUR REF!  STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE COLD!

Steve Austin, making his first appearance since Wrestlemania XX rides out on his 4x4.  In the ring the match just explodes.  We see basically the entire roster is out watching from different points in the arena.

This was an amazing match.  The first man down was Rhyno as he was isolated by Team Smackdown.  Smackdown was the better team as Raw seemed to be worried about themselves.  Rhyno was the first man to fall as he was isolated by Team Smackdown.  Rhyno went to Gore Angle but he countered with an Olympic Slam.  A tag to the US Champion, who quickly hit his Show Stopper for the win.  Next to fall was amazingly Eddie Guerrero.  Eddie missed a clothesline and bumped Steve Austin.  Eddie apologized but Austin nailed him with a right hand.  Randy Orton then hit a nice flying cross body for the elimination.  Next Team Smackdown was able to isolate Batista.  JBL tagged the Dead Man who held Batista.  JBL went for the Dividends but Batista moved and JBL hit the Dead Man.  He went nuts.  He nailed JBL, Batista, Eugene, and Matt Cappotelli all with Chokeslams.  He then walked out.  Kurt Angle went out after him and was given a Chokeslam on the floor.  Austin then counted the Dead Man out as he left.  In the ring Batista tagged Randy Orton.  Orton and Booker went at it.  Orton went for the RKO but Booker shoved him into the ropes and hit a high angle Spinebuster for elimination.  After that we got some high flying action as Nova and Rey Misterio put on a clinic.  Misterio went for his Springboard Frankensteiner but Nova caught him.  He then hit his Kryptonite Krunch for the pinfall.  Next to fall was Shawn Michaels.  Eugene's partner William Regal tried to hit HBK with a pair of knuckles but Michaels countered with some SCM.  He picked up the nucks and Austin caught him.  He kicked Michaels in the gut and gave him the Stunner.  He then DQed him.  Booker was able to hit Nova with his Axe Kick for the elimination.  Next to fall was JBL.  He went for his powerbomb but Chris Jericho floated over and locked in the Walls of Jericho for the tap out.  Next Batista and Angle brawled on the floor.  Batista hit his vicious clothesline knocking Angle out but into his corner where the Big Show tagged in.  Show and Batista brawled on the floor.  Batista missed a clothesline and Show sent him into the post and got back in just in time.  Next to fall was Triple H.  He nailed Booker with the Pedigree but pulled him up at two.  Austin argued him with and Triple H shoved him.  Austin dared him to do it again and he did.  Austin called for the bell and DQed.  Triple H went nuts.  He started shoving Austin a bunch and finally Austin gave him a low blow and shoved him out of the ring.  RVD, who had spent most of the match at ringside chatting with fans, missed the Five Star on Eugene and Benoit came in.  Benoit locked in a figure four and RVD passed out from the pain.  Moments later Regal hit his neckbreaker on the floor on Booker T getting a count out win.  Regal was playing up to the crowd while Eugene was trying to get him to turn around.  Finally he did and Big Show was waiting.  He hit his Show Stopper for the win.  Benoit and Show went at it tooth and nail.  They fell to the floor and brawled to the back resulting in a count out.  This left Matt Cappotelli and Kurt Angle, who hadn't moved since Batista clothesline him against Eugene, Kane and Chris Jericho.  Eugene was mimicking the Hollywood Blondes while taking on Matt.  Austin shoved Eugene telling him to knock it off.  Matt took advantage and hit a Stunner on Eugene.  Austin looked pissed as he made the three count.  Matt celebrated as Kane and Jericho watched on with amazed looks on their faces.  Austin spun Matt around and gave him the Stunner.  Kane picked him up and gave him the Choke Slam right as Angle was finally getting to his feet.  Kane got the three count staring right at Angle.  Angle crawled into the ring and immediately Kane attacked.  It was a two on one and Kane and Jericho double teamed the WWE Champ.  Kane hit a Choke Slam but Angle kicked out.  Kane reached down to pick up Angle but he rolled him up into a small package for the win.  Jericho came in and hit a missile dropkick for a near fall.  Jericho and Angle went back and forth.  Angle missed a Moonsault and Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho.  In the back we see both teams, minus the Undertaker who we see leaving the arena, cheering on their team member.  Angle does an ankle pick and locks in the Ankle Lock.  Jericho tries to fight out but Angle locks in a legbar as well and Jericho is forced to tap out.

I was really worried when you said you were going to let TNM pick a winner for the main event that it was going to turn out something non sensical (something like Rhyno and Eugene being the survivors), but that plotted out perfectly. Angle as sole survivor makes perfect sense, and with a little bit of a comeback there at the end against two bonified main eventers. Cappotelli was the only notable mid-carder who went further than expected, but then there's your newest push I'd have thought. Nobody got pinned by someone below their league (Nova pins Undertaker - something like that), with only a couple of DQ's to show for it which goes well with the flow - Michaels, HHH, Benoit, Big Show and Batista all get to be eliminated without being made potential fools of, you get the idea. Yeah, if you ignore the 2 hour length then it really panned out beautifully.
