Pretty Perfect (Owen Hart and Curt Hennig) defeated Kid Kash and Low Ki when
O. Hart made Ki submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:10:31.
Rating: **** 1/4

Owen Hart was notably down at Team Canadas failure to win the World Cup of
Wrestling last night. Teaming up again with Curt Hennig, he had a few choice
words not for Dynamite Kid and Jody Fleisch, but surprisingly for Chris Benoit.
Now Benoit was injured last night in the final, and understandably wasn't
going to last very long, but dropping the fall evidently has left him in Owen
Harts (and Curt Hennigs) bad books, as the scathing verbal attack before their
match demonstrated. Owen lay the blame on their loss solely on the shoulders
of Benoit, and wished he'd never teamed up with him at all, noting that from
now on, there was only one tag team partner for him, bringing about a
nauseating mutual admiration moment between him and Hennig. A response from
Benoit would be ideal, but sadly his injury is going to keep him out for the
rest of the year (and much of next). So Pretty Perfect looked to get back on
track in their match with Low Ki and Kid Kash. The two cruiserweights have
formed a strong friendship and worked together very well, keeping up with the
former champions throughout, but it was interference from Eddie Guerrero,
taking out Low Ki and furthering their rivalry that enabled Pretty Perfect to
do what they do best - taking advantage of ANY situation, and another win was
notched up.

Following last nights victory for Jody Fleisch and Dynamite Kid, Matt Hardy
and the DWFs rarely seen owner Shane McMahon appeared on the Kings Court in
order to present them with their prize money as promised. Dynamite Kid was
still a little wary of Jody Fleisch following his almost turning against him
last night, but nodded at him to appreciate his coming through in the end.
Dynamite gratefully accepted the money before turning his attention to another
matter at hand, that of Alex Wright. Following last nights match where what we
are to assume was Wrights partner came out and obliterated Dynamite and
Fleisch, Dynamite wanted to know exactly who this man was and intended to
sort the two of them out. Now it was Fleischs turn to receive his cheque. Matt
Hardy was inevitably perturbed at handing it over but relented enough to pass
it to him, only for Fleisch to turn it down. Fleisch reminded Hardy of an
off-the-cuff remark he'd made about Fleisch being able to buy his own show for
this amount of money. Hardy nervously tried to retract this, saying it was just
a figure of speech, but perhaps couldn't have expected Shane to take the cheque
on behalf of the DWF (he said) and accept Fleischs offer, telling Hardy that
it was about time Jody put up or shut up and demonstrated how good he'd be at
running his own show, and announced that the Clash of the Champions in two
weeks time would be Jodys to run as he pleased. Matt protested, but after a
little persuasion relented some more, with the opinion that Jody would crash
and burn.

Alex Wright defeated La Parka Jr. by countout in 0:05:00.
Rating: ***

One of the big questions emerging from Ultimate Annihlation was the identity
of the man who interfered in the Team England vs Team Germany match. Today
before his match, Alex Wright revealed him to be one of the baddest giants not
just from Germany but in all of wrestling, Ulf Hermann. At seven feet tall,
and over three hundred pounds there's no questioning that he's a powerful
individual but how he'll fair in the ring we'll have to wait and see. Wright
claimed that since the flag burning incident of a few months back, he's not
felt safe in the States any more, and hired Hermann as his official bodyguard
to watch his back - at least that's what we picked up after a quick trip to
Babelfish. Wright meanwhile took on the ever likeable La Parka. La Parka kept
tabs with Wright well, frustrating the German on several occassions. All
looked well until things spilt to the outside. La Parka gained control and
threw Wright back in, but with his eyes away from the real danger, La Parka
got hit wth a massive clothesline from Hermann, allowing Wright to pick up a
countout win.

John Cena pinned Hunter Hearst-Helmsley with the Eighth Deadly Sin in 0:06:47.
Rating: * 3/4

John Cenas disappointment at not becoming the world champion was obvious but
ever the professional (asides from letting down Billy Kidmans tyres earlier in
the day - "he's more prone to have a crash and get injured, and the title
could be vacated") he got on with things against Hunter Hearst-Helmsley.
Hunter is a savy veteran and refused to let Cena have things easy, and gave him
a run for his money but Cena has been on a roll lately and, after some
completely unnecessary hair pulling, he put Helmsley away with the Eighth
Deadly Sin for the win.

Cena may well be climbing the ladder again, Helmsley though was dejected after
the match, and cameras caught him flipping out, saying he needed to change.
Surely he's not going to ditch his upper class roots and go back to his old,
more popular ways.

Bobby Eaton pinned Rhyno with the Alabama Jam in 0:03:00.
Rating: *** 1/4

Following last nights countout between Bobby Eaton and Rhyno during the
Intercontinental Title match, a one on one match was signed up for today in
order to find a winner between the two. A shot at Brad Armstrong could very
well have been the prize for the winner, so neither men held anything back in
this one, with Eaton using his consumate wrestling skills and Rhyno using his
power. All was tight until Rhyno rammed Eaton into the corner and dove in with
the Gore. Eaton slipped aside, and Rhyno planted himself shoulder first on
the ringpost before falling back to the mat. Quick as a flash, Eaton hit the
Alabama Jam - a rare loss for Rhyno but a BIG win for Eaton.

Devon Storm pinned Pete Gas with the Thunderclap Brainbuster in 0:01:00.
Rating: * 1/4

An easy win for Devon Storm who didn't waste any time tearing through
perennial loser Pete Gas. OK, that was never going to be a problem, but his
intensity as he demolished Gas and took out Rodney and Roma at ringside,
before putting Gas away in barely a minute. Devon is, once again, on the
charge to any title shots going, and perhaps Brad Armstrong better keep one
eye in the back of his head.

Brad Armstrong pinned Matt Hardy with the Peoples Elbow in 0:08:36.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Brad Armstrong retained the Intercontinental Title.)

Despite their disagreements, both Fleisch and Matt Hardy could agree on their being upset at
todays Intercontinental title match. Jody was disgusted that Hardy had, for
the second night running, booked himself into a title match. Matt, who had
made this match with the excuse that he only lost last night because of the
four corners rule, was upset at the loss. Not that there was any chicanery,
as Brad Armstrong scored a clean victory following the Rock Bottom and Peoples
Elbow. One has to note though that the win for Brad was actually relatively
popular with the live crowd - Brad catching on or Hardy turning people off
with his growing paranoia? None the less, impressive stuff from Brad.

Edge & Christian (Edge and Christian) defeated
Los Guerreros (Chavo Classic and Eddie Guerrero) when Edge pinned E. Guerrero
with the Downward Spiral in 0:13:57.
Rating: **** 1/4

As Eddie and Chavo took on Edge and Christian, revenge was just around the
corner for Low Ki after the earlier incident. An even match between the two
teams who have no love lost themselves was turned on its head when Low Ki
saw the opening when all four men were in the ring, nailing Eddie with the
cruiserweight belt and allowing Edge to score the win. Another win for Edge
and Christian who continue their march towards the chance of regaining the
tag team titles. For Eddie, and the rest of Los Guerreros, revenge will very
much be the order of the day.

The Pitbulls (Pitbull #1 and Pitbull #2) defeated Steve Corino and Billy Kidman
when Pitbull #1 pinned Kidman after the Mass Destruction in 0:13:10.
Rating: **** 1/4

Billy Kidman, quite categorically, has problems with Brian Pillman, and as
Pillman loses all grip of any sense of right and wrong, he looks like wanting
to rip Kidmans head clean off of his shoulders. With Kidman and Corino booked
into the main event against The Pitbulls, a tough match was expected for the
reigning world and TV champions. The Pitbulls are a tough, rugged team who
don't lie down for anyone, though their first ever defeat came at the hands
of Kidman and Corino. Once again, it was the championship bearing pair who
took control at the critical time, with all looking dead after Steve Corino
hit the Old School Explusion on one Pitbull and then tried to blast the other
with the illegal cast around his arm. The ref somehow managed to prevent this
and quickly reprimanded him, all the while, Brian Pillman sprinted out from
the crowd and cracked a chair around Kidmans head, before leaving from whence
he came.

Card rating: *** 1/2

Kurt Angle had a lot of explaining to do after costing Team America their
match last night. We already knew that he was disgusted with Matt Hardys
choice for representatives of America in Sean O'Haire and Rob Van Dam, but
even then, to cost them the match seems counter productive if it means helping
another nation with the World Cup. Not so for Angle, who now considers HIMSELF
as the World Cup of Wrestling champion, and had gone so far during the previous
week to get a special medal made for himself to go along with his other medals.
While this idiot was rambling on, he should have paid more attention to who
was about to come out from behind the curtain as Rob Van Dam made an appearance
with a mic. RVD stated that what Angle did was so not cool and it meant that
he'd have to smoke Angle in the ring. Angle seemed up for the challenge, but
added that he couldn't wrestle tonight... gimp knee, leading to some sudden
and melodramatic limping. Apparently Angle twisted it whilst selling minature
American flags to needy children and donating the proceeds to the government,
as he's a proud, patriotic American. Van Dam, stoned off his face, believed
every word, leaving Angle to roll his eyes at his idiocy. Actually they're
both idiots, but at least Rob is lovable.

Though I appreciate a feud continuance with Low-Ki and the Guerreros, it kind of took away from Pretty Perfect re-establishing themselves with a tainted win.  I really like the team though, so I assume they'll be in the hunt soon enough.

Jody Fleisch buying the right to book Clash of the Champions is brilliant.  You clever bastard, 91.

Ulf Hermann, eh?  Works for me.  Another assisted win for a character trying to build some steam though hurts a tad, but just a minor nitpicky thing from me.

Completely unnecessary hair-pulling!  Cena is so deliciously evil.

Good solid win for Eaton.  Moving him up the proverbial ladder a bit, eh?

Was there ever any real resolution to the Armstrong/Devon Storm scissor-cutting incident?  I know there was the 4-way IC Title match where Brad won the gold, but I don't remember a clear resolution.  That could just be my slipping memory though.  I'd like to see them go at it one more time regardless.

The Pitbulls beat Kidman/Corino!  Kidman/Pillman need to wrestle and soon.  Pillman is really starting to lose it, and we're still not sure what Sean O'Haire thinks of this.  Looks like it makes them vulnerable to losing their tag titles though.

And that comment about Angle/RVD being idiots to close up this writeup may be the greatest closing remark to any card ever.

In regards to a couple of those matches you suggested, it's funny you should say that...

Oh the sweet ESP I have!
